I have a question. I have many fourms with sub forums, If I want to exclude a forum from counting can i just put the parent forum into exclude? or do I need to put all the sub forum number in as well?

Is there a way to allow users to disable the exp plugin themself if they don't want their exp to be show? Like the reputation system. I know now we can do it manually but it is better to allow users do it themself.

I have an interesting bug I think.

I am setting up achievements for getting threads rated.

The way I am setting it up is you start by getting a base and then move up to the next. I am trying to make it work so that when you get the next one it takes the place of the previous, which works for all except the first. No matter what the first achievement (the base one) sticks.

Anything on this?

My forum already has forum members, some of them with hundreds of posts. And after I installed this mod I see they automatically got hundreds of points. Is there a way I can bring the points count back to 0 for each of them ?

Installed this a few days ago, the members are absolutely loving it, thank you for this mod!

Two questions I cannot figure the answer to...

1. I have created a couple of new awards that are based on new fields like "most calendar entires" and "most downloaded attachment" but no matter what I do the test query comes up with zeroes for everyone. This is only for a few of the awards that I made. Is there something I need to do to populate the stats database? Here's an example query in question:

2. I made several custom awards to assign manually, but no matter who I assign them to one additional user (id 4) always receives the same award. is this an intended function?

I've been back and modified the xperience_points_postbit template and it has no effect of postbit display of points.

As you can see there is <dt> and <dd> tags here but looking at the output HTML there just not there.

Points: 264,827, Level: 59

But I keep tracking back to the postbit_display_complete.php as being the problem but since I'm not very savvy at PHP I'm stuck.

Great plugin, users love it, just one issue I can't fix.

I installed the VBookie plugin and set vbookie to use custom points as seen in other posts, so that users can gamble their experience points. However, when users make bets they actually gain a few points, and if they win at the bookies they gain x amount more than they should. It's just not working as it should. Apart from setting VBookie to "custom", all other settings in VBExperience are default.

Any pointers?

Edit: After further testing, this appears to go wrong when you bet on an event you created yourself. When others bet on your event it calculates OK. Does that help narrow down the issue?

I have a problem with the 'system of achievements'.
These days I have had several difficulties, first did not work 'Replace this Achievement' on some achievements (not all, in others if it works).

The limit variable that is passed which is defaulted to 100, is being reached early causing the function to return before running all achievements. The variable seems to be used inconsistently as it's used to limit the stats pulled for an achievement, but rather than looping through groups of the achievement, it returns out of the function with no way of continuing from where it left off. Also, the processed count is incremented on non-related activities, so it wouldn't be a reliable count to use for continuing the process anyway.

Has anyone noticed this? (It was found in version 4.0.4)

i upgrade from 3.6.8 to 4.1.7
and then upgrade my mods or remove and install again ( by bigger chances).
My problem is when i activate the vBExperience 4 Mod, the forum only a white site with 0 Byte size. No Error nothing.
I must stop all mods over the config(on filesystem) and stop the mod.

then why, when I change it to 30 days and recalculate the following:

does the points still remain the same? It STILL Calculates from the beginning of the boards time, in this case, over a Decade of points, NOT the 30 days I entered into this value.

I have registered members with 300,000+ points that haven't logged into the site in 6 YEARS, so how exactly is this only pulling data from the past 30 days?? Their points value should be ZERO.

That will not work, as vBShop does not support vBExperience. Only the Point Market System is currently supporting vBExperience.

With 4.1 you can define the date the points are calculated from.

My members have been asking about this, but I'm wait until I hear from more people that it's stable. I've got enough problems that are stealing all of my time.

As long as 4.1 is declared as Beta I would not recommend to use it on productive systems. You can use 4.0.4, it is stable since almost one year.

Phalynx, let me make you a suggestion, if I may.

You could add in the achievement/trophy conditions a "null" condition, to make it easier for the admins to give awards to the user, and exclude them from automatic distribution. That, or a "do not include this in automatic distribution" checkbox or something.

Ex: currently, if an achievement/award has no set condition, it'll be given to everyone automatically. If there was an option to exclude said achievement/award from automatic parsing, it'd make an admin's life much easier.

Just an insight on how to improve this product. Keep up the good work.

That does need time. Took 2 weeks on our board until the activity values started to make sense. I guess it does use an average of some kind (never cared to check the code) and if you have data for 2 days, but want a 60 day average the function just returns rubbish.

I can confirm this issue as well, as it is occurring on my site too. Yes, I did run the achievements recount and it didn't change the 7 day achievement issue.

I dont have Project Tools CDP installed, I've never even heard of it before yesterday.
Disable the achievements for Project Tools ("Innovator").

Actually, ALL of my members, regardless of how long they've been registered are showing 7 days.
This is an achievement, it will be replaced by other achievements that are higher. Once again, you need to recalc achievements.

Attachment_Consumes_Points does not need any other. Please check if you entered PDF as a "free" attachment via settings.

You are NOT understanding what I am telling you. I have RECALCULATED THE Achievements more than 15 TIMES. I am using the DEFAULT achievements that came with it.

IT IS NOT UPDATING CORRECTLY despite the fact that the recalculation has been done, unless there is a DIFFERENT way of "recalculating".

AdminCP> Experience> Recount> Assign Achievements - does not fix the issue.

AdminCP> Experience>Manage Achievements> Clear ALL Issued Achievements & Logs THEN going back and recounting STILL DOES NOT WORK.

It DOES NOT Update properly. Members that have been online for more than 3 years should be showing as veterans and ALL Members are showing as 7 days Registered.

I get how it's SUPPOSED to work, the point is, it DOESN'T work.

According to other posts (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=2266444&postcount=2133)- these points are based off what is entered in the points field - so, if you go to AdminCP> Options> Experience> Experience Points> scroll down to "Points for Days Online" - I am using the value of .25

THEN- if you go BACK to AdminCP> Experience> Manage Achievements> USER-

[7 days registered] 7 days registered (Edit) > Conditions> Should be 1.75 (for 7 days)
[31 days registered] 31 days registered (Edit)> Conditions > Should be 7.75 (31 days)
[3 months registered] 3 months registered (Edit)> Conditions > should be 22.50 (for 3 months/ 90 days)
[1 year registered] 1 year registered (Edit)> conditions> should be 91.25 (for 365 days)

But these values do not work any better than the default values, which don't work at all, incidentally.If you go intot he user profile and look at the join date it says July of 2008- but if you look at "Days since registering" under points (in the same user profile) it says 17.

Oy vey, I'm not screaming, I tried explaining to you in plain english and with step by step photos so you could see the glitch in your mod, which you apparently want to blatantly ignore.

I'm not doing "experiments". I have a site that has been online for over a decade and I'm not even remotely interested in giving users points for things that happened 10 years ago, so I changed the point values (which is supposedly what the mod is for).

Apparently, you want people to use the mod with the defaults that you installed so that it MIGHT work properly.

If you change points, than you need also to change the points required for achievements/awards. And also take care if you use the function to recalc from a defined date. If you don't know what you are doing than you will get wrong results. Espacially if you use the default achievements but retain your custom settings.

This modification has 1283 installs and just you are saying the achievements don't work.

Snow, are you calculating points from a specific date, or from the beginning of your boards tiime (since it was created)?

the board I was running the mod on was 4.0.6 - and whatever date you set for Point Calculation to start is the date that your "days registered" was calculated from.

Before uninstalling,

I changed the "Start calculation of points from given date (MM/DD/YYYY)" date to January 1, 2011 and it stated "Days since registering 313"
even though the Actual registration date is 01-15-2005

This is why the achievements don't calculate properly. They only calculate from the Date entered in the "Start calculation of points from given date (MM/DD/YYYY)" field.
The friends/reputation show from the beginning of time, but the Days registered gets rewritten to the "calculate from a given date".

Do you use a specific date on your board (in the admincp>experience> points> Start calculation of points from given date (MM/DD/YYYY)" ) or do you use the default "0" which calculates for all time??

By default awards and achievements with an display order of 0 are beeing ignored. This is for the case the admin creates the achievement and did not configure it. That way you can also disable some achievements you don't need.

Don't blame him. At first, I don't understand what you meant too :d
OK, Let try this, set Yes to: Options > Setting > Experience > Only active users? > Calculate stats only for active users. Please do a recount after you set this to Yes to get a clean calculation result.

Move inactive user in a period time that you set to another usergroup (maybe it call Inactive group), than use Ignore Group feature (same place with above setting) to ignore that group from recount.

Do a recount to update Experience points of active users.

So, when inactive users comeback, they have to collect point from the beginning or you just move them into an active usergroup than do a recount again.

It's just my suggesttion, do it if it ok with you and let me know if you success :D

I don't see why spammers should return when you enable vBExperience. There is no spam-magnetic feature on it, must be a random coincidence.

That is an output from the cronjob to recount achievements. It seems AFS is doing cron jobs while pulling data with AJAX. Please ask the author of AFS to fix it.

I highly doubt it is always vBExperience. More like vBExperience is a large cron task and after all it is attracting attention, more than a simple cleanup job by vBulletin.

so the experience level 24200 should have people at lvl 68 right? but when i do a recount people get level 22 while they should have 68 i think

I want other "Awards" listed besides the default "Most Active User" for the week, "Best Group", "Most achieved Achievement" etc. I want other awards or achievements to appear here. Is there something I need to modify in the php file, or can this be done via the administration functions? I can't find it.

There is no way to customize Insight. You would need to modify the xperience.php and the template "xperience_insight"

Also, when and how are tags being updated in the stats page. I'm running a contest on my site - the person who creates the most tags by x date wins a prize. The thing is the stats for the tags aren't updated in real time. I've tried troubleshooting it by updating the counters and running scheduled maintenance by hand.

So simply, how do I manually update the tag stats, or have them updated hourly. Please let me know. Thanks!

How do I make "x" a number - like 5?

If I understand it correctly, I can issue 25 points for each member referred, and if that member makes x amount of posts, the referring member can be awarded x points on top of the original 25 points they received for referring that person. Right?

Or is it either points for members referred or referred members that post? Not a combination of the two.

Yes, but there is an additional option to give points to referred members who make x amount of posts. I'm trying to figure out how to indicate what "x" is, and if these points are combined with the points given to the number of referrals. Make sense? :D

Just put the number of required posts in it - in your case put the 5 in. How many points the use get you get set with "Points that are added for every referral"

So one setting is for posts required, the other how many points a valid referral will get.

Q: When installing vBExperience, does everyone start from scratch, or will it automatically configure everyone's points based on actions before the install?
A: If you recount, vBExperience will calculate ALL existing data since the beginning of the board. If you used vBCredits, vBActivity, uCash and similar systems - there is no need to convert the points.

Can anyone give me a dumb-user guide to creating my own set of levels?

I don't want 100 levels, I want this much lower as we only have 20 ranks, so I would like the level to correspond to the rank. I have tried a custom XML document with the edited level/points and then changed the "Maximum Level" in the AdminCP, but this doesn't seem to have any effect.

This needs to uninstall cleanly without manual intervention.
I had numerous database errors after uninstalling it- ruined the forum.

I uninstalled it because my users found it distracting and confusing.

i set the date for "Start calculation of points from given date (MM/DD/YYYY)" to 1st of jan this year, i then run a recount and points are not changed as if the setting is still at zero

i tried deleting activities and stats and then recounting but its still showing the same points etc, is there something i have done wrong ?

I am getting that same error on vbookie integration and when I disable the vbookie, the next mod in line seems to give an error. Also my experience page is coming up with a "page not found" error.

I had upgraded to 4.1.9 and vbSEO. It was working so perfectly before! My members are not happy their points are not updating. I completely reinstalled with new upgrade here, uploaded all files again, and all the integrated plug-ins.

Any help is greatly appreciated! I do not want to do away with this mod, it is far too loved by my members and myself! So, please help me find out what is wrong.

Edit: the db errors are occuring on the recount of points, first option: Admincp>Experience>Recount>Update Experience Points which is required after you update to a new level as well as upgrade in this mod. So I am just presently stuck!

okay its working, my bad on why i thought it wasn't, after you set the date to start it wont start your members at zero points, it takes into account of profile info, friends and alot more but if i set the date back to default you can see the huge difference in points on the members

Hi, I need help!

I am getting far too many db errors, and this mod has been through a bit. I used to have a partner on my forum who could never get it working. Well at the time I had no vbulletin knowledge. Now I have a little, and no partner. I got it working, but recently with the upgrade to 4.1.9 and vbSEO, there are far too many db errors. The strangest thing though is that if I do the recount after user 50 it works, before then while testing it on user 1 - 50, it stopped many times with db errors and all the same thing:

first the date on vbookie, then this Unknown column 'points_user_tso' in 'field list'

So I'd like to try and uninstall it completely and then do a fresh install but I do not completely understand the uninstall instructions. I do understand I must upload the kill file to the forum directory, but then it says to "run" it. How do I run it? I haven't attempted this as I want to insure I do it correctly.

Please someone give me these awesome kill instructions I am hearing about, so I can clear the db and reinstall this from scratch and hopefully fix all the problems I am having.

i found it a bit difficult to but the instructions are actually quite easy, biggest pain in manually removing files via ftp but hey lifes not fun without any hicups ;) only thingthey not clear on was where to put the kill_xperience.php, added a note for you in red !

Thanks so much! I was able to run that kill file. That's the part I was not understanding about putting that in my web browser. I hope not deleting the files will make a difference as I am just going to turn around and reinstall it. I'll know soon enough!

Again, thank you for you help, I really did appreciate it! It's always trying when you have several mods and they can interfere with each or conflict. But when your database somehow gets corrupted, it's often better to do a fresh install if its possible. I'll let you know if this worked to get my vbexperience running smoothly. I love the mod!


Edited: I reinstalled it. It still gives me db errors on vbookie, so I disabled that integration, and the rest ... NO DB ERRORS! I can live without the integration to vbookie, so I am happy! I hate db errors, and this way we stay error free! Thanks again!

OK, I killed and reinstalled the mod, the recount works now, but the activity is still at 0 %. Experience > Recount Activity shows no effect...

Could anyone help? :)
