Ok

something odd happened after i installed the update today..

I noticed that when I was in admin CP looking at a user profile and choose the "find all posts by user" function it seems to not recognize that any posts have been made since I added this upgrade. Very odd.

So I went ahead and did a Update Post Counts from Admincp -> maintenance -> Update counters section

And got a LONG list of errors like this:

I think we need a feature to assign/recount individual achievement. I have let the recount run for over 24 hours period for a board with 30,000 members and 20 achievement and it's only at achievement 15 lol It would be much better if we have a function to let it it assign/recount each achievement by itself.

The achievements are already self-optimizing. As soon as you assign all achievements and run a recount, you don't need to run all again. It just takes a look who has not the achievements.

Also, the Awards are not being display in 32x32 pixel mode in profile view but 16x16
Please check if the template "xperience_xpicon_big" needs to be reverted.

Where would I begin to look?
At the sourcecode of the generated page, where center begins.

Where is the GOLD part suppose to show?
I've upgraded to the latest download and uploaded the product xml and updated with over right.

Still says 4.0.3 no gold?
Why should it display GOLD? 4.0.3 is GOLD. The RC version was some kind of beta.

I did not understand how the achievements secret?
If you declare an achievement as secret, it does not show the user the required conditions.

The file functions_ghsom.php is generating that error. This file does not belong to vBExperience.

I have been running recount last 24 hours. It brings my dedicated server to a crawl, loads slowly rise until they hit 50

is this normal?

Doing a complete recount takes a while, as he computes all posts, threads, etc... for each user. So this depends on the data on your board. But what can I say: The complete calculation has to be done once.
Also, this depends much on the server you have. As MySQL is under attack during this you will need much ram. A dedicated server with 1 GB RAM takes much more time than a server with 4 GB.

Please read "readme_optimization.txt" to get more information how you can optimize vBExperience to run smooth.

hmmm i dont know if anything is wrong with vbexperience or with my forum. when i choose Position in postbit to custom location and add "$xperience_postbit" in my postbit_legacy it dont show bars instead it simply shows text "$xperience_postbit".

When we do a manual recount of the promotions, the promotion system does its work. However, when left alone it doesnt update any of the promotions it should. Where can we go to make sure it is automatically doing the promotion updates and perhaps make it do it much more often? I checked scheduled jobs and i see a Promotions in there, but i believe it is the vbulletin promotions, which we dont use. There is no vBxperience promotions option.

Please click "Mark as Installed" to get further support.
Also, there is no scheduled job about the promotions, they are hooked into calculation of the points. I think there is something wrong with that and will take a deeper look. As I also said to MonsterDK, as he seems to have the same problem.

Just a question about using vbExperience with the Market system.
I've been playing around with both the mods but last night when I was banking my points I noticed my Level in experience had dropped from 64 to 8 :eek:
Is this a bug? should the points work independent from your experience bar?
Does this mean the same thing would happen if you spent your points on Market items? if this is the case users would be reluctant to use the market knowing if would effect their current Experience level.

This is odd - my members are all at 0% after upgrading but I believe it needs a recount. But I don't see the vBexperience appearing in the admincp at all. I recall it used to be there... didn't it on the left side along with all the others? The only place I can see vbexperience is in the general options and there is nothing there about recounting.

I am also noticing that it appears in the postbit legacy (although empty) but after upgrading from 3.8 and following instructions, the product does not appear in the user's profiles as it is supposed to appear as a tab. Anyone else have a problem like this?

OK... now there is a problem with it getting stuck at user 48,500. After doing those first, it has become stuck and I'll sit there while it shows "waiting for mysite.com" at the bottom and I watch the load crawl but nothing is done. I had to reboot the server but I can't seem to proceed past user 48,500.

EDIT - three reboots and it finally started again. It can be very slow to start after a restart but we're getting there... still have to figure out why tabs aren't appearing in user profiles but getting there.

NOw we've got most if working but did a bad thing - recalculating achievements. This was bad... very bad. I've got it processing achievements 1 through 6 and it just hangs there for a long time showing it processing but not showing me any successive screens. I am guessing this will eventually time out... not good...

Blank page for awards - for some reason the template is not rendering at all. Everything else seems to work. See the following:

It doesn't even load the header/footer but all other pages load. using vB 4.0.7 upgraded from 3.8.5.

POTENTIAL ANSWER: The upgrade corrupted my custom awards. Unfortunately I'll have to delete them and reapply them and hopefully this will solve the problem. I have a question mark at the top of the awards page in the admin although all the custom awards do show, just not the standard ones.

BUG - After I did the recalculate achievements, it got stuck a long time in #8 and then it started spitting out duplicate values, e.g. user name being awarded an item twice, duplicated once after the next.

And another bug when I tried to clear existing awards and create the default ones:

For some reason, my member's activity bar keep reseting back to 0. I recount it and it works then it reset back to 0 shortly after.

the shop is no longer part of the vbexerpience. you have to use the 'point market system' mod (which phalynx is a coder for) as your shop. it allows you to spend the vbexperience points there.

I dont understand this at all? Why did the OP take out the shop? Was it bad? I dont think so.

I deleted the "xperience_achievements_issues" table and ran the rebuild again. There must be some bug because it apparently completes everything up to the 8th award, which is 3 months of membership. Then it loops again into the that award and I can see in the "Activities" panel it showing that members are receiving the 3 month award twice in a row, then it goes to the next member and does the same thing. Hmmm.... disappointing. Hopefully this can be figured out.

I also received and achievement notifiaction but when I clicked on it I got the error as well. and same again clicking on the experience button in the navbar.

I have since disabled the achievements and the error associated with the notifications and navbar tab is gone but we still get a similar error when recounting, issuing custom points.

Another question and I am not sure if I shoud ask here or in another thread, is how do I attach experience points to the market?

Sorry, i will click it now. I have the 3.8 version, and testing this on the 4.0 version so i forgot to click it on both :-p great stuff though, one of the reasons we went with vbulletin is because of your mod.

It would be nice if the promotions ran off hooks or scheduled tasks though, i use the promotion system for my users ranks, and it updates very slowly and often has issues.
This will be fixed in 4.0.4 (This is also a hint to MonsterDK)

I'm having a minor issue getting the $xperience_awards_postbit variable to work in combination with the Tabbed Postbit mod (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=237867).

Trying to insert the following:

<div class="info"><b>Awards: </b>{vb:raw xperience_awards_postbit}</div>

With the experience setting switches set to the custom location. If I set them to postbit_userinfo_right, the icons show up, though looking totally off from the rest.

Any ideas?

If you would read the readme file, and also the description of the mod than you would know that it has been replaced by the Point Market System.

This should no happen. I know other boards running that count of users having no issues. Can I take a look at this? Please PM me.

For some reason I'm getting Database errors in both Ranking and the Awards section of Experience tab. Is anyone else having similar issues?

This will be calculated automatically by doing recount. Avg will be 10 on your board.

the points themselves seem fine. But I see the member with the most referrals isn't the member with most referrals. testing the award gets the right person though. also the person with the most referrals is getting the 1st class/2nd class achievement whereas the person who is shown as having the most referrals doesn't have either - just the overall.

I'll probably disable this but if you need to play around with it on my board just shoot me a pm. I don't expect you to fix it up but it may help the opverall project.

Even with all of the above issues I still love this!

Set both "Show level below postcount" to "No". (The second one should mean "Show points below postcount?" - this is fixed in 4.0.4

I upgraded from 3.8 to 4.0.7 and I'm not able to see anything added to the postbit template. I got a notice that I had some conflicts, so I uploaded the latest version of my custom template and it still did not work.

Your files on the server are old. Please copy all files from the ZIP - I mean ALL. After that, re-import that product.xml

As for the awards: If you have limited the awards to one per user, it must search for other users in the ranking who have no award. To test this just increase the number of awards up to 5.

Seems to work perfectly. Is there any way to allow the user pick which 5 awards they want to keep or a way to weight them as more valuable than one another. E.g. if I wanted referrals to be the most valuable award so if someone won ten but was only allowed hold 1 then that would be the one held. Kind of like a sort order?

Overall I'm very happy with this as a mod, it's just a matter or getting used to it's complexity.

I have some question regarding managing Awards. Ok, here is what I did

Add New Awards - Set title, description, images - assign awards manually to user id (232,111,666) then save.

I don't want this award to give out automatically but rather only admin can give them out to specific user. However, after I added the award, recount the award, and even run scheduled task for vbexperience award, it's still not being updated. I check the award tab inside vbexperience but the award is not there. I also check the user postbit, and its still not there either.

Any idea? Apparently, its only work if I set the award to assign automatically with the value of 0. I also noticed one more thing, I dont see the "Test" link next to the award inside admin cpanel.

Is the achievement activated? Check if "Display order" is 0. Values higher than 0 means that it is activated and will be automatically assigned to users reaching the condition.

I have both addons/products installed and setup ( Primary Point Field market_xperience ) but when i try and steal from another user my points go down due to the purchase but the person im stealing from stays the same.

History reports everything working
October 8, 2010, 12:02 pm -- Usename -- 1,550

but points have not been reduced or awards givin (Default 75% steal).

I thought there may have been a plugin or somthing to fix the issue but i miss read the readme. So any idea what my problem is why points will not be added/removed for steal events?

Not that easy. The only way could be to create a second group which is a copy of the first. This way the user is not in the usergroup that is allowed to promote.

Is it possible to use vBCredits point system or to disable the existing points system entirely?

The achievements/experience element of this mod is fantastic but I have vB Credits 2 installed and would like to use the credits or disable the points element of this mod, is that possible? If yes then how?

No, there is no possibility to exchange features between the modifications. vBExperience can replace the vBCredits functionality in collecting points. It's just not called Credits, it's called Experience and Points.Oh okay cool. It's too bad vbExperience doesn't work with the Gameroom and has no ibProArcade plug-in customization options. Not even vBcredits II has a working arcade support but at least it can synch with the Gameroom.

You can change the templates to fit your needs. There will be no recommended feature as the awards and achievements work automatically.

Alright, another question.

The following doesn't really make sense to me:
"Points that are added for every download the user uploads via Hacks "Links and Downloads Manager" and "DownloadsII"

Does the user get points for the download only or for download and upload or upload only? Do you also get points if someone else downloads your stuff?

Downloads are treated like views. If there are 1000 people downloading your package you get more points like compared to a package that has been downloaded just 5 times.

You can, if you have knowledge of PHP/SQL, edit the plugin to work like you want.

To get back to your board you need to disable hooks via config.php

When I uninstalled it, I uploaded the kill_xperience.php and ran it. After that I started removing all the files I uploaded via FTP. I don't think I got any further than that.

I was looking through my config.php and did not see any switches for disabling hooks.

Is it possible to disable the 2 templates which display the level and points seperately in the postbit legacy?

This is my "Level" code:

I don't want to delete it, just disable it. Is there a command to disable this code/template?

When I uninstalled it, I uploaded the kill_xperience.php and ran it. After that I started removing all the files I uploaded via FTP. I don't think I got any further than that.

I was looking through my config.php and did not see any switches for disabling hooks.
Please copy all files from ZIP -> includes into your machine and uninstall the plugin/product first, after that you can run kill.

To disable plugins put this into your config.php:
define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Remove it afterwards.

I don't know what you mean by disable. You can disable the whole displaying of both by switching it off in settings.

I never get past the "3 months registered" achievement. Never gets to the 1 year, etc. and then the rest of the achievements.

I noticed there was also an error in the 1 year achievements - it says "719" in the "days since registering" part of the details of the achievement. I changed it to 365 and saved it. I can't imagine this happened random and I guess it's an error in the install data.

I also noticed that the "Overdrive" was set to 100 days. I fixed that and put in 3650 for 10 years. But I noticed that this last achievement will not allow me to have the system save "replace... Veteran." It defaults to a dash (no selection) after saving. I also can't change the names of these achievements either.

Got it - the source of the bug was the dates that were pre-entered into the vBexperience achievements above. It is now processing everythin correctly. The only item outstanding but right now is the Overdrive bug that doesn't allow replacement of the Veteran nor does it allow renaming the name of the achievements (won't save.)

Still cannot confirm this. I will read your PM and take a closer look.

This is not an error. You should revert it. Please read readme.txt:
Q: My conditions don't work correctly on achievements and promotions.
A: Conditions in achievements and promotions are calculated in POINTS, not in count of items.
If you create an achievement for reaching the first 10 Days, you must enter the points needed for this. If you reward 2 points for every day, you have to set 2 points for every day since registering. Calculation: 10 days * 2 points = 20 as condition. So you will have to set 20 as the condition.

"Overdrive" is an achievement for users if they reach 100% activity. It has nothing to to with days, years, etc.... Why can't you change the name? Please explain more, like error, etc...

I tried to upload a .png file and want to chose it from the dropdown menue in the award options, but I could not find it. It is not listet there althoug I uploaded it via ftp in the correct folder.
Do those images need a specific file format?

Is there anyway around it? l want to have like an award system so if I entered A, B, C and D user IDs then I want them all to have the award without returning it.

I'm having a minor issue getting the $xperience_awards_postbit variable to work in combination with the Tabbed Postbit mod (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=237867).

Trying to insert the following:

<div class="info"><b>Awards: </b>{vb:raw xperience_awards_postbit}</div>

With the experience setting switches set to the custom location. If I set them to postbit_userinfo_right, the icons show up, though looking totally off from the rest.

Great mod! Everything is working except the DBTech Likes integration. The install went fine, but it seems the counters inside xperience_stats table aren't getting updated. I tried to figure it out but I'm not familiar with the plugin xml files yet ;-)

hi,

since i have been using vbexperience 2 members now have suddenly gained far too mnay points.

first was a while ago and he got over a million points of post thanks. i deleted his account and gave him a new account.

now in the last couple of days another member has now suddenly got 2,147,484,030 points, this time for posts, yet he has only made 14 posts.

i have tried to recount but it makes no difference.

is there anyway i can correct this without deleting this members account

I heared of such an error before, but not in combination with vBExperience. A user on a forum managed by me had this. No solution is known, when this happens the posts (vBulletin maintenance!) gets recounted and all is ok again.

when i install VBexperience it will remove Table PREFIX from queries on "showthread.php" !

I get that error only on "showthread.php" page .

Installed this mod in 4.0.8 & is working fine.

However upon attempting to install a plug-in support for v3Arcade (vBExperience - v3arcade Highscorer Points and vBExperience v3Arcade Submissions), then if you click the link within vBEperience "Earn Points". A database error shows up.

I don't know of such an error. Please try to re-upload all PHP files in textmode to your FTP.

I hope vbE 4.0.4 has cured some of the bugs I am experiencing:

(1) Some achievements cannot be modified and saved. I can only wonder if this is data corruption? I had to manually edit in some of the changes like "Veteran" and "Overdrive" which I used for 3 and 5 year members. When I tried to save the field where Veteran takes over and removes the 1 year member, it wouldn't save. Had to manually enter it in the database.

(2) My recount does not work at all any more. It just freezes when I hit the submit button and I keep getting "waiting for myserver.com" and it never goes anywhere any more. Yes, with the CDP Plugin Interface - you can write a plugin that is looking for that and entering the required data for the achievement.

Seems you have plugins enabled that need more calculations.

I hope vbE 4.0.4 has cured some of the bugs I am experiencing:

(1) Some achievements cannot be modified and saved. I can only wonder if this is data corruption? I had to manually edit in some of the changes like "Veteran" and "Overdrive" which I used for 3 and 5 year members. When I tried to save the field where Veteran takes over and removes the 1 year member, it wouldn't save. Had to manually enter it in the database.

- Added: Add default/missing achievements. Missing a new achievement and don't want to revert to the default? Do this action via Manage Achievements and you will get newly created achievements without losing your existing one.

being able to add an additional usergroup via the promotions instead of promoting to a new one.

this would enables members who have acheived a set amount of points in a given field to have access to private parts of the forum without their main usergroup being effected.

also the ability to promote on the acheivement of multiple fields would be very helpful

I'm trying to give the vBExperience information the same look as the rest of the template, but when I try to edit postbit_legacy and enter

I do have one small problem, no achievements beyond 31 days of registration appear to be working. Even though my admin account has been active for more than 3 years the highest achv given is 31 days?

Yes. Please check AdminCP, Experience, Manage Achievements. Make sure all achievements have a sort order higher than 0. Espacially the market achievements are disabled by default (sortorder=0)

Great Mod,

1 of my clients was complaining that level 100 was a bit too easy to reach so I imported the product that has a level 200.. This was included in the zip file..

I then went into the options and changed the setting to 200 for levels. Is there anything else I have to do now?? I am a bit confused as to how the levels are set up and the read me did not really explain.

I upgraded to vB4.0.8 today and this kills the Profile Customization. Does the latest version fix this.

When I click the Profile Customization button it opens but is blank.

FYI I am lazy and still running vBE 4.0.0..

First of all great product. A bit overwhelming, but very nice work.
I am somewhat new to adding a plugin to a 3rd party product, and when adding it, it wants the hook location and I'm not sure which one(s) to select for the Helpful Answers mod as there a few in the drop-down box.

I'm unsure how "activity" percentage is calculated and why one would have 100% activity, what does that mean?
I can't seem to find out where awards are calculated, so if there is an award given, where is the are the determines how this level was achieved. Don't get me wrong, this is a great piece of work, I'm just having a hard time understanding what I'm looking at :)

Hello I use your great mod for long time. I have 100levels and 10 group for promotions. It was much more comfortable for me when promotions were written in txt.
Now I've got some reputation problems and for a while a lot of users gain a lot of experience points so they were promoted to higher groups. Finally I have my user levels realistic and now I found that they're not demoted to the group they have to be :/
I create new promotions in backwards way, but... it don't work as I want to or some of them don't work at all. I was thinking it will work if I make it like this:

EDIT: I found something I have to set "demote promoting" for usergroup display number LOWER than "promote one". Now it works but as you can see it will always work in one direction depending on display number :/ Please take a look at attached screenshot. I am so confused :/

points > X-1 - move from group 10 to 9
points > X-1 - move from group 9 to 8
points > X-1 - move from group 8 to 7
*Where X was points needed to move to higher group

It moved all users from 10 to 9, but for other it didn't work. I found that if I have to lower member from 10th group to 6th this is a problem.

Please explain me how to simulate demote? I want all users of level X to Y to become part of group Z (like it was before).

Hi Bposner, for awards go to your admin panel sidebar ->Experience -> Manage Awards where you can edit the award you want. Then you should be able to "Fields
Select the fields you want to sum together" I am guessing how it works is the total amount of points collected by the top user will receive that award. I am still pretty new to it but I think thats how it works.

I have a question as well Phalynx, is there any way to give extra points if a certain number of words or characters is being reached per post? Thanks!

Thanks I kinda knew some of this. This software is like going from a Truck to a Luxury car.. lot's of stuff going on and have a hard time trying to figure out what's going on, and still keep my eye on the road lol

Hello bposner, what version ot vBExperience you've installed? I see that you have deleted your last post but I will answer it anyway.

This screen appear at left side of admicp Experience -> Manage Promotions.

If you want to add points for using helpful answers just go to Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> [Add/Import Product] -> browse and choose Helpful_Answers.xml from vBEperience Plugins folder.
Then you'll have it visible in Options -> Experience: Points. And you can say how many points should be given for "posts that are marked as "Helpful Answer"

Activity has been extended to count also activities for 7 and 30 days, additionally to the default 60 days (configurable). Activitiy is now based not only on postings/messages, all actions that are calculated by vBExperience are taken into account. The person who have most is 100% . The others are compared to his result and their result is calculated in %. Example: John have 5000 points for last 60 days and he has the most in your forum. If Peter has 1000 points he will have 20% activity.

As perfectweddings told you go to Manage Awards and edit/create new award and check what option it has. Don't forget to make Display Order higher than 1 if you want it to be visible! You seem to understand English so please read.

using 404 I see so the leader sets the bar (100%) and everyone else is a percentage of the leader? Correct? Nice.
Thanks on the HA solution, I was in the wrong place.
I have one concern, the little points icon (the balls) show up when someone hasn't yet reached 100 points. I may have something screwed up, but it's a learning process, like anything else. Every bit of information is very much appreciated!
