I think you should wait with that:/ i was thinking the same aswell but rsjelle will release a new version end of this month. So lets cross fingers that he include some most wanted features like rss and download manager support

For the first issue: I don't know a solution for it immediately, but they current download method with file copy isn't great. Version 6 will have a new, better method (vB attachment way).

Yup, I am using 3.7.2.

It is working fine for me...on ground level, ever since after the incident where I can't upload a file, but managed to link a file after an upgrade from 3.7.1 to 3.7.2

That means that it works with 3.7, but the optional profile changes aren't applicable because they completely changed the way the profile looks in 3.7.x.

That is awesome news! We have well over 100,000 downloads and now I dont have to worry about losing the stats.

Another suggestion from me would be for users to have the ability to list all files similarly to chosing 'My Files' or browsing a category and sort them by Name, Date, Author, Downloads, Rating, Status and Comments...

The truncate commands should work, but together with the update query (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1573280&postcount=2800) CyberRanger gave you. There's no more rating stuff than the dl_votes table and the rating field in the dl_files table.

Have a look at the addons listed in the first post. There's already a vBadvanced CMPS module (without images).

All security tokens should be in place, also the one for uploading images. Make sure you reverted all downloads templates after the upgrade. The downloads_file is containing the one for the image upload.

That has nothing to do with DownloadsII. It's just the default layout of the vB editor, which you can change in the editor_toolbar_on template ($smiliebox). This will change the editor layout everywhere (when adding posts to the forum, adding announcements, ...).

DownloadsII v6 will use the vB quick editor for adding comments.

wondering, on your new version have you fixed the issue regarding the members that can easily bypass the download restrictions by just flushing their ip? I did follow your instructions for a fix that you provided on the earlier post here however that only made worse and took away half of the members normal download restrictions. Say if daily download is 6 times the regular members can only download 3 or 4 times sometimes nothing at all.

also about the unknown filesize and eta? im not sure if its just me but i think its not since i get the filesize if i download without the download script.

That's not possible because of the CSRF security tokens vBulletin is adding to each post forum. You can't generate those easily outside of the vBulletin framework.

The downloads.php file isn't containing a trojan. You can check out its code as it's open, but you can't write a Windows trojan in PHP :p
The AV is reporting the downloads.php file as it's serving the download. The problem is the downloaded file itself of course and I don't know that one. It can be a false positive ... or not ... The files in your downloads section aren't my responsibility :)
You can have the same thing with the vBulletin attachments system.

You can change the weight of each category to allow what you are asking, if you don't do the weights, it sorts by alphabetical.

If i disable a category for certain usergroups, that usergroups still can find files with a search and download them. Same thing with the most downloaded files or the direct URL.

Is there a way to avoid this behavior? If not i would request that as a feature.

The database home is showing I have no files uploaded. But in the recent and most popular panels on the left side it shows the files and lets users download them. You can not browse my categories because it says they are empty? I am completely lost, this has worked for me for the past 5 or 6 months or so and a user just brought it to my attention. Any ideas?

You will need to go into the Stylers & Templates --> Style Manager --> Choose the Drop Down next to your active Style and choose: Edit Templates

Now you will need to find the templates for DownloadsII and add the line Jelle listed after each form.

Example (downloads_file Templates):

I added the above line right below this line:

so it looked like:

Hi,

As far as I know this is not possible, we found a way around it by using the addon for downloadsII that creates a new thread each time a file is added to the download section. Which in turn, made it part of the sitemap.

It is a workaround, a true solution.

Check the chmod of the ec_tmp folder inside the downloads folder. It should have 777 permissions (just as the downloads folder itself).

You need a test forum (vB 3.7) for it as it's not meant for live sites yet (although it should be pretty stable). I'm mostly interested in how the upgrade from v5 to v6 goes. Running a copy of your normal downloads section on your test site would be great, so you can test with lots of files.

I know I've had it below the quick reply box before the upgrade but I have no idea how I did that (if I even did it lol).

I now have the original file (filename.rar) and the duplicate (2215-filename.rar) in 'downloads', and my question now is this: can I just delete the original?

Yes, you've to delete the original files which you were used to importthe files. I have done this 5000 times already and no files missing from the download page

I ended up changing post_max_size and upload_max_filesize in my php.ini to like 30MB each which worked do you recomend this or should I make the edit to the PHP instead??

If that works, it's enough. I just gave a lot of options as each server has different default settings, so there may be various causes :)

The link you have put there is wrong. Your downloads section is located at http://www.conflict-2142.com/forums/downloads.php

http://www.conflict-2142.com/forums/downloads/index.html is just a plain white page to keep the downloads folder unlistable, necessary for some servers. That folder is only for storing the uploaded files, you don't need to link to it in any ways.

2 Web servers with load balance

When we use this config, the large downloads stops at 25% or less, and never completes correctly. When we switch to a single web server, the error doesn't occurs or occurs less often. What i can do to use this hack with a load balance config?

And when (or if) a download manager support will be implemented?

man, i have read through most of the responses here and cannot seem to find a fix. i keep getting the error for 'maximum upload limit reached'. all of the usergroup permissions are set to -1 which is supposed to be unlimited. downloads directory is chmod to 0777. is there a fix that i missed somewhere in the thread?

very strange. if i log in as another 'mod' or 'admin' user, i can upload. it is just my master account that i always use. i checked every group settting that I am in, and they are all set to -1 for every limit. this is strange.

Yes. You have to run version 5.08 though. If you have problems, try to revert manual changes to templates you made for Downloads II.
None are needed with version 5.08.

I have put the .htaccess thingy already in the root and followed all other instructions i could find on the internet but without any succes. It also happens if you upload a certain amount of pictures as attachement.

I decided to move my 'Downloads' directory outside of the website. All the downloads/uploads work perfectly.

But when i try to add images to the uploaded files, the links are broken. For some reason the image urls are including my absolute path like:

Heres one for you guys, i'm trying to replace certain characters from the 'file title' with spaces. It was quite a simple procedure for the forum but the code i used will not work with this mod as it doesnt appear to use functions_newpost. Ive been battling with the downloads.php without any success. Here is the code i thought would work (yeah i know there is an easier way to right that but i forgot how to do it)...

People having problems with the security token should have a look if they have version 5.08 installed.
If yes, try to reinstall. Reupload all the php files and take care your ftp client uploads them in ascii mode. Then reinstall the product xml file and remember to set overwrite to "yes".

The 5.08 version IS updated with the 3.7.x security fix.
So if you get the security toke notice, something went wrong while installing or updating.

For those having problems with the Error: File not found error after moving server, this is how I fixed it.

I'm not sure what version of this hack I was running on prior to moving server, probably a previous version as it was installed at the start of the year.

Make sure the 'downloads' folder is chmod 777.
Make sure the ec_tmp' folder is chmod 777.
Download the latest version (if you are running a previous version).
Reinstall the product in your APC

All your settings will not be affected and your downloads will still be there.

After I reinstalled the product, the downloads worked.

Find

Replace with

I have two issues since I installed it:

1. I cannot find where to change file size limits. I need to up the size limits, but do not have an option to do so in the DownloadsII CP.

2. My users are getting an error that states "missing a security token" after they hit the Add File button.

I believe there is another setting somewhere too though. Just remember that you need to restart after you change the setting. If you don't have access to your config file, then you'll need to ask your host to do this for you.

Stupid question, but did you make sure to restart Apache after you changed the upload_max_filesize setting?

There's also a setting called max_allowed_packet, that could prevent members from uploading larger files.

First of all a big thanks to RS Jelle & CyberRanger for a superb addition to my forum. It was exactly what i needed.

I hope you dont mind me making a couple of suggestions maybe for the next release. I appologise if they have already been mentioned.

Basically the mod works perfectly but cosmetically it could do with a bit of love and care. ;-)

I think it could be jazzed up a bit, maybe some buttons for edit/cat tree etc etc

The search field is very basic, perhaps the addition of a category search.

The ability to implement a 'already posted' function as a title is being inputted would make this perfect for me.

A better layout for the main Category screen showing subcats with their individual file counts.

How easy would it be to add a 3rd input field for the add_bit?

I seem to have a cookie issue with this mod. When my users hit the downloads.php page, they always have to log in again. Any suggestion on how to fix this?

I always get the error "Fields marked in RED must be filled in!" even when everything is filled out. There's also a scripting error visible when the submit button is clicked. It used to work but for unknown reasons I'm now stuck with this error.

I know this has been answered before, but I haven't seen anything with the same symptoms as my problem:

I'm getting "Security token was missing" when the file I'm trying to upload is 8 MB and over. Any file smaller than 8 MB works fine. So I did everything that was posted:

1) re-installed the mod
2) created a .htaccess file
3) php.ini has a 150 MB file size limit
4) admincp downloadsII options allow for 150 MB files

Any help would be appreciated about this Security Token thingy... my vbulletin is not accessible through the internet.

I really hope there would be a way in the future to add custom fields. I am in need of a field called "Version". Also, somehow to change the Date Added to Date Last Updated. I have files that constantly update and people think they are old because it always says the date I 1st made the "post".

Thanks columbusgeek. After your reply my co-worker and I checked what you had told us, but after testing found out it wasn't it. It was actually the post_max_size was set at 8M. As soon as we changed it to 100M, it started to work with bigger files.

We moved our site to a different server which has a different folder structure and now when someone tried to download a file that was previously uploaded they get this:

Warning: copy(./downloads//ec_tmp/987 Minor Maintenance Check List 2.pdf) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in [path]/downloads.php on line 700
ERROR: File not found.

the downloads directory is still there as all directories and permissions were copied over, it is the higher level directories before the web root that changed. I expected to find some place in the config for this mod that was storing that info, but all I see is the ./downloads setting which is still the same.

The files in question are actually there in the downloads directory, but not the ec_temp directory so I don't know why it is looking there or trying to anyway. The files also have a prefix before the name of each filename like 12345-Filename.zip etc.

The file I am trying to download is located here so you can see the error yourself:

I can try to reinstall the mod again from a fresh zip to see if that fixes/changes anything, but I am assuming that this is some sort of config error since the site moved, but I have no idea what other than the dir path would have caused a problem.
