thats the exact same problem im having with this mod .. if its a fresh install with nothing typed in shout it will load and can be seen .. but as soon as somthing gets typed and submitted in shout .. it goes to a white page and cant be seen.if you go back in your browser or reload the forums index it shows the shoutbox until it loads then the whole forums page goes white

Generally that error is due to a javascript problem.

If you look into the firefox error console, do you see anything ?

im unable to save the settings on staff command, when i tried allowing usergroups it never saves the settings

There is a know bug if you are editing usergroups permission within the channels editing.

It will be corrected in the next release.

You have a vBulletin version older than the 3.6.10 and 3.7 Gold, check the readme instructions you have forgot to apply a step ! (regarding security token)

No, I didn't. I'm also confused about this part:

3/ Import the command located in the "xml" directory through the command management system.

Do I upload the whole folder or put these in the xml and clientscript folders? And then do I download each xml file in each of these folders? That's not very clear.

Im all new to this ive installed theproduct, think i got something wrong somewhere.

It says copy images to each style folder, i just have default style, seems all the icons and buttons are awol, can anyone point me in right direction, looks like i put images in wrong place but dont have a clue.

No you just have to upload the contents of the files directory as it's written.

For the xml, you have to use the chatbox command management system.

I think you should calm down a bit man. I am giving this mod here for free for the benefits of users.

I know my mod requires many manual steps when it comes to installing both the chatbox and the commands. The reason is that I wanted to kept separated the commands from the core of the chatbox, thus allowing easier addition of the commands and allow the creation of new commands by the user themselves.

If you read carefully the phrases and follow each step of the readme, the install should be no biggie. Unless you don't read the full readme, coz there are few things that you should beware of:

vBulletin version you are running: due to the CSRF protection introduced in the latests vBulletin releases, you have to do a "trick" modification to make the chatbox works in version older than 3.7 Gold or 3.6.10. I explained that because I want my mod to stay compatible with oldest version of vBulletin and the CSRF protection is only in the recent one.
Style issues: on some custom made styles some replacement variables that allows automatic placement of the chatbox aren't there, thus forbidding it to appear. But I don't think you're encountering that, chatbox is showing for you.
Usergroup permissions: often users forget that when installing but you have seen it and correct it.For your loading issue, this could either be a javascript issue (files missing) but I don't think as you are not newbie :) Or the vBulletin version problem.

Do you see any error in the error console of FF ?

If you don't get it to work I'll then give you a link to a post you should try to follow to find out the problem together.

I think you encountered that because you didn't change the bburl options while working on your backup server. It was certainly pointing to the url of your real forum, this is the only reason that would explain why it was pointing there for files.

Oh sorry the commands have their own permissions.

The can manage the chatbox will be enough to get the edit rights but you have to set also the ban permission.

Not sure what you mean "bburl" ( im very new at this), the 2 are on different servers, the test one is on the original host and the new one migrated to new server. I did a scan for the Url it was looking for but it wasn't on any of the files. maybe database from a previous install, i did remove all file content and try again still same result, however its now successfully installed on main site works a treat excellent work.

The test site is also working now lol as the icons etc are on where its still looking for them.


Just a comment for SloppyGoat thanks for the input, its shows how easy to miss something easy like check where its looking.




One last thing are there any channel icons available other then the sets supplied, seems ideal to have several channels for different groups.

I did a search and url is correct, maybe a file that's being used has wrong url, some of the stuff was installed by others so maybe they altered something.

Can you point me to where the url would be stored to reference the icons for team channel.

OK I finally got this downloaded & unzipped. On some parts of my computer it required a password & on others it didn't. Then I couldn't delete the last zip off my computer because some of the file names in various languages freaked my computer out. I had to rename them just to put them in the recycle bin.

I believe I've unzipped all I can therefore uploaded all I have. I've uploaded files plus installed the commands per your instructions. But there are no real instructions about anything else.

For example if you try to edit user permissions I'm only finding one thing & it's about color...not accessing the chat. I don't understand about adding channels, general options, formatting options, advanced options or command options. I don't understand what you have under "name of the channel image".

I'm using vbadcmps & added the module for this chat per their instructions but all I get is an empty box. Any help please? Thank you. :)

If you only see color usergroup permissions it is perhaps you haven't installed the chatbox correctly. Seems like some files might be missing (in includes/xml directory for usergroup permissions).

Yeah VBDev :D the language problem has been solved. Just need to re-import the xml file in LANG folder.

Also the options for display and position language in my attachment is solved.

But I'm also wondering, because in the attachment, the french language was only for those option, for the rest is written in english.

I installed this, we decided it wasn't right for our forum, and uninstalled it. however, at the bottom of all usergroups it's left the options there (in the admin panel > Usergroups when you edit them) so i can't edit any usergroups now as it says

How can i remove these?

Yeah VBDev :D the language problem has been solved. Just need to re-import the xml file in LANG folder.

Also the options for display and position language in my attachment is solved.

But I'm also wondering, because in the attachment, the french language was only for those option, for the rest is written in english.

I was being calm. ;) I was simply stating you need to be more detailed. That is it. By doing what I said, it resolved the partial issue, but now you still have what seems to be a bitfield issue?

I know that by accident when I already had the old MGC Chat, I installed the Evo chat and I had both the old and EVO chat permissions in the usergroup.

My first suggestion. Take a full dB backup. You can't go wrong doing this. If it goes away when you uninstall, then possibly you are installing wrong? Have a corrupt zip with the files... I would d/l the old chat, and new chat. Extract the files. Make sure it's uninstalled from the forum, then go in via FTP, and double check that all the extracted files in the dirs locally are removed from the server remotely. Do a backup again. Optimize the dB, check for any errors in MySQL. Rebuild all the templates etc and then download the addon again and reinstall. This time when you install the plugin, select overwrite as well when you import it.

Ack. Thats good to know. I remove anything that's not the same version or previous version when it comes to hacks. Ie if 3.7 is out, I won't use anything below 3.6.x. Most old hacks will cause a headache on the new versions which you proved again. Glad it's working now.

Your templates should not affect this at all. When I said rebuild I meant exactly:

Admin CP > Maintenance > Update Counters > <==== Run those... I forget how you rebuild the bitfields. I'm pretty sure when you delete files and goto usergroups it does it automatically.

Make sure you read the readme. If you did and missed this try it... Also did you try the other styles and see if it displays?

The integration in the arcade can only be done by activating the display chatbox on defined pages in a variable (not the one under the navbar).
Here is the process you must follow to achieve this integration :
- Go in the admincp in the "Display and Position" options

- In the pages list, add "arcade" and then validate
- Open the arcade/functions/functions.php et search for "function do_output($output_array)"

If I understand correct, you are wanting to add the chatbox to the New Posts / Today's Posts? That search itself is query intensive. Adding the chatbox to that is a sure resource hog. I would highly suggest not doing this.

I think the search templates themself need edited and "$mgc_cb_evo" added to it, but VBdev is the man to say for sure. I'm only guessing on the variable.

As for what needs edited, VBulletin.com or search here for edits to the searching templates.

1. Where do I determine/change which words are censored in the chatbox? Is it the censored list from vbulletin?

2. My "Who's Online" seems to never be in sync with who is actually online. I have played with the settings quite a bit but it just doesn't make sense. People who are actively posting don't show as online...

1. Should be, but VBdev would know the final answer. Easiest way to check is censor something in VB and type it in the chatbox.

2. This goes off however many minutes. If they leave whatever page impression they are on, count restarts. I don't even base if off that on my servers. I just type and if others are there, they reply.

Yes censored word must be set through the vBulletin censor system.
It's because the refresh of the chatbox doesn't update the who's online status certainly so you see them online in the chatbox while the forum itself think they are not.

1), Swear filter can be bypassed with the /me command. If you for example have "awesome" within in the filter to change it to *****, so:

Would change to

Within the chat. But if you combine it with /me is awesome, it shows "Skyrider is awesome" <-- its not filtering it.

2), It seems that the /show ban command is only working on fully admins, supers and moderators. If I select that other usergroups can ban, it works fine. But it seems they do not have access to the /show ban command at all. If that usergroup attempts to do so, they are getting that:

Hi there. That's such a shame as it's been a decent mod. I've had tons of luck going into the Admin area, locating Plug-ins & Products and selecting Plug In Manager. Once there, I set everything (really, everything) to inactive and begin turning on one element at a time leaving my suspect program until last. (It helps to have another window open to refresh and attempt minor usergroup changes with)

Eventually, you'll locate the exact hook and I think you'll be good to go after you get it to that point.

Take some time in it.. Are you sure it is french? Have you "set the default language" on the forums set to English? Also, make sure you check the general options for the "chat display" what you always see as text when you want to enter something within the chat box.. It is normally French, but you have to set your own text in English.

I have another bug report though as well. When you use the /me command in another channel (outside the main channel), the text of the /me command shows up in the main channel rather than the channel you used the /me command in. Maybe you should look in to it. And please also check out my other 2 bug reports that I replied in my second previous post at the previous page. (110).

I've got a slight problem with the shoutbox. I've updated my shoutbox (0.3.0) to 0.4.0 but now my Team Channel is gone. Normally, it showed two icons at the left (General and Team) but now there isn't a single icon. Do you perhaps know how to fix this? I need my Team Channel back lol. I upgraded all the commands (except Announcement and Team since they haven't been upgraded) and even deleted and re-added the Team Channel but it didn't help.

Can you please help me with this problem? We are using the Team Channel a lot since my site is pretty big and we talk a lot about bad posts on the forums and bad behavior in the shoutbox.

I already doesn't have much time to work on the chatbox and thus will not take time on such features, I am sorry about that.

Take some time in it.. Are you sure it is french? Have you "set the default language" on the forums set to English? I have never said it should work that way ;). The commands in the chatbox are for the general channel.

This is perhaps not very good but the way I coded the chatbox, a channel corresponds to a command and thus only one command is usable in the channel.

I should certainly rewrite the chatbox code so that channels and commands are not related to each others. This would allow the commands to be used in every channels. But currently I don't have a lot of time to do that. I will see in the coming month. About your other bug reports, they are perhaps certainly listed in the bug list here ? Or I perhaps have already answered you. If not then I am sorry but I don't have the same number of posts displayed by page and I won't get through all the posts to find yours, the problem of this forum is that having only one thread for the support lacks of visibility :/

I've installed this addon on two other sites with no problems till yesterday on the third site I run into where the "Loading..." won't go away. I've also added that temporary "fix" in the javascript, but that doesn't show any kind of error either to point me in the right direction. I was wondering where I go from here with this?

Please look at the message it's pretty clear. It's saying that the file wasn't found.

So I think you haven't uploaded the chatbox files correctly and thus it gives you this error. You should have a file called functions_mgc_cb_evo.php in your includes directory.

Not sure what the problem was (was getting the "loading..." message continually) but I uninstalled the addon as per the instructions file, and reinstalled. It seems to be working fine now.

Yeah. Enable HTML in that area. Use a parser to export the XML to HTML or TXT.... Should be something on google.

But it's not automated. You'd have to figure that one out.

That's a great idea, and I think that's something he could/would add to a future release just not right now. It's just a lot to change around because right now the admin chooses where it's displayed. But I think that's a good suggestion.

That's an interesting suggestion ! I am putting it in the todo list.

I've installed this addon on at least 2 other vb sites that are running 3.7.x and vBa 3.0.1 and they work fine with the CMPS module. Last week I did a fresh install of a 3.7.1 PL1 site and while the addon works, I can't get the CMPS module to work. Ranger187 was able to determine the following error:

I just upgraded to 3.7.1 PL2, however this has not fixed the issue. I wasn't expecting it to fix it, but I thought I would mention what I have done since. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Edit: Would something in the .htaccess file cause this? The reason I ask is I just installed a new addon that required some changes in this file and the CMPS mod started working. I went back and maded a few more changes, now it's not working again.

No. The actual error was discovered several days ago and I check that thread on a daily basis sometimes several times a day, however I have not received a reply. This issues is very weird. I've been watching the mod and sometimes it will start working on it's own, then after a while stop working on it's own, or it will work for me on IE 7 and not work for someone else. I'm beginning to wonder if it's the hosting service that may be behind this issue. I currently have this addon and module running fine on both www.friendship-cafe.com (http://www.friendship-cafe.com) and www.kv-guild.net (http://www.kv-guild.net). Both of these are on two different hosting services also, and not related to www.talkmarylandforum.com (http://www.talkmarylandforum.com) where I am having the issue.

Bozza, I replied to this. Upgrading you need to remove all the commands. Read the readme file again. It's kinda confusing I think for a new person sometimes including the channel commands one. If you need help PM me info and I'll be glad to help out and try to resolve it.

Ozzy, I'm assuming it's vb 3.7.1 per your sig. If that's the case, everything should work and sounds like the same issue Bozza is having, or it's simliar. Did you have any commands added or was it just the chat itself?

If you have added no commands and it won't refresh which it's using AJAX something else is up. Can you pm me a test account? Or run FireFox console and post the errors you get.

Do the first thing most would do. COMPLETELY uninstall the product. I'm also talking going into ftp, removing ALL files uploaded. Make sure there are no templates for the chat anywhere. Then reinstall newest without any commands and see how it does. Also read the current bugs at the first post. I remember there is a team issue. ;)

I can delete individual chats but I cannot clear the entire chatbox with the del/all command like before.
Does the del/all command still works with 0.4.0 or has it been removed? there are no list commands to use I only found out about the del/all command because VBdev told me.

No, this product does not as it's a shot, not an actual post and kept in a seperate location in the db. That will be up to VBdev if he sees it as something worth coding. I know I'd not enable that simple because it takes away from posting to begin with.

The text will wrap if there are spaces in it. However if a user posts something like :

For images, there is no specific management of the img bbcode in the chatbox, it relies on the vB one.

I won't make something separate so unless you install something on your vBulletin to do so you won't have it in the chatbox.

The thing is that loading issue is perhaps not due to the chatbox but a small install error.
But let's see what happen in the next version and if it still says loading then we will try chasing the bug !

The new version will be a bux fixes release with only few new features. You can see them in the list of the first post (things in green are included).

The performance enhancement is not included in that release.

Going back to a one xml file structure is not yet planned, it would take too much time to go back to the old way.

Hey dude, you really didn't wait long enough for support. You didn't specify what version of VBulletin your are running, if you upgraded from a previous mgc chatbox etc. If I can get it working on every site, then it's probably fixable.

I've noticed on my forum that the shout box doesn't properly "pop" when you click the arrow on the front vbadvanced page, but it does pop out properly when clicked from the forums home page.

Make sure you read the readme. If you did and missed this try it... Also did you try the other styles and see if it displays?

The integration in the arcade can only be done by activating the display chatbox on defined pages in a variable (not the one under the navbar).
Here is the process you must follow to achieve this integration :
- Go in the admincp in the "Display and Position" options
- Activate the option "Display the chatbox on defined pages of the forum in a variable" or the "Display the chatbox on defined pages under the navbar"
- In the pages list, add "arcade" and then validate
- Open the arcade/functions/functions.php et search for "function do_output($output_array)"
- After "// add additional needed variables" here, add : global $mgc_cb_evo,$mgc_cb_evo_var;
- Finally, if you are using the "Display the chatbox on defined pages of the forum in a variable", edit the ARCADE template and add $mgc_cb_evo_var where you want the chatbox to appear
Do you get a security token error in this? If so, try this... If not, don't add it.
For users which possess:
- a vBulletin 3.6 version < 3.6.10
- or, a vBulletin 3.7 version < 3.7.0 RC4

There will be a javascript error due to Jelsoft major changes ...

To make the mod work with this vBulletin version, edit the mgc_cb_evo.js file and add at the top : var SECURITYTOKEN = "0";

Odd error for me.. probably something I did. I installed the mod and it looks fine. So I type "test" into the box and it loads fine. I then go to archives and delete the "test" shout.
But now when I go back the chatbox just says loading in the shout area and if I type anything into the shout box and hit enter it gives me this error Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.

I'm running 3.7.2 so I did not think I needed to add the security token code?
