It looks great but is it possible (and how) to display the chat on a separate page?
I have vB 3.8.x and I want to give access to the chat on a specific URL that is not visible on the forum navigation :)

Can't really specify this as it's in beta and EACH system is different. A general/overall consensus would be a more accurate way to relay this.

If you are having LAG on ANY version, it's because it's a shared hosting and not a private server and they are using limited resources. I run 30 sites (All dB/php intense) and there is virtually no lag ranging back from the 2.x version up to 3.1.0.

Question:

So what you are saying is that I need to put the chatbox on a private server? Can you point me in the right direction what you use?

It gives the same error for index.php at the same line, but I checked both and they appear to be fine.

I can't figure out how to allow users to post links. It won't allow it in public chat but they can private message links to each other. I turned on BBcode URL and turned it off but no luck so far. Any idea?

I'm running it on 3.8.6 with no problems other than that

Is there a way to make the background of the chatbox black? I want the background black it'd make it easier to see everyone's text which I defaulted to pink

This bayby breaks my prefixes. When eabled, all prefixes i try to create just turns up blanc. They are there, but blanc. Turn it of, and i can create them.

Hello.
i have a problem with the bot function.
First i tried to use a special member as Bot (Boardbutler - UID: 1199)
Named the Bot "James" same like the user.
I tried also the UID: 1 and the Name James. Both didn't work.

First i tested the "Gestion du bot" function.
There i added some phrases and sentences.
"what time is it?" Bot:"Hello {username}. It's {time} at {date}.
When i write "what time is it?" ....... nothing.

To BOT works, you MUST activate it.... On ADVANCED OPTIONS you must set YES for "Activate the bot in the chatbox ?", and other BOT settings...

In the admincp --> MGC Chatbox Evo and click Chats formatting and change Message to display in the input field on page load.

I went to that folder, uploaded all the images in /images/misc, and when I installed the chat, I see the chat box but without the images. How should I fix this?

And my 2nd question: How do I put the chatbox in the CMS page? Is that possible?

Hyper, use internet explorer to see the dead images. From there, right click on the image and select properties to see where it's trying to load the images from. FireFox has its ways to remove all the dead images so that's rather annoying.. Hence I suggested internet explorer.

We're trying to manually place the chat box in the ad_loction_ undernavbar option to show on the forumhome, fourmdisplay and showthread pages but it's not working.
Did this stop working, all we want is to play the chatbox under the navbar on the forumdisplay pages since if there are subforums, it gets placed in the middle of the page...

One main feature I am looking for is the ability for my members to ignore other members chat if they wish to is this possible with this lite version? and can anyone explain that has this currently what the difference is between the lite version and their paid version? I've tried search but it's hard as "pm" is too short.

I've disabled all notifications etc but when PM'ing members, the pm still shows in the main chat AND in the PM tab.

BUT, did you set permissions for usergroup of that user? You must set does usergroup where this user is member, CAN USE private messages on this chat.

Go to Menage commands, then you have Quickly edit command permissions, click on GO, and set "Usergroupds allowed to use this command"

It will be nice if an improved searching in chats will be added in next version. I can search only by date and time right now. It will be great if an option "jump to chat" will be added. Something like when i'm searching for a chat, the searching machine will automatically jump me to page where the chat was posted.

I use mods that are outside of the forum root, such as vBdynamics. The chatbox shows up on those pages, but the chats don't load. What can I do to make them show up?

Looks like there is a minor and when I say minor I mean minor error with this mod,

The Chabox is looking for collapse_alt_collapsed.gif for the collapse image, which is a vb3 image when it should really be looking for collapse_40b_collapsed.png. Just a minor mistake in the image upgrades between versions

the more button brings indeed the smilies up but clicking on them doesnt work...
in ohter words they wont be added in shout room...

This would be near impossible due to all the things like usernames and such it pulls from the local vb database and such. Well not near impossible, but difficult to do.
But the chatbox has no such built-in functionality.

Thankfully this chatbox has a lot of internal settings you should use if you're on shared hosting.

For one, any of the optional settings that read (Add 1 query) you probably shouldn't enable. You should also enable automatic inactive mod. You can also load YUI javascript files from the YAHOO servers instead of your own.

Until I release a new version, I suggest you to avoid users from being able to hide chatbox and change default colors and so on in their ACP. This should at least remove the error :)

I was hoping someone could help me. I currently have this chatbox running on my test forum with no issues. I might add, I am running vb4.14. However when i try and install a fresh copy on my main board which is also 4.14, I get this error. My test board had it prior to upgrade to 4.14 and my main board did not have it.

There is a site here in Finland running this chatbox so that the Finnish characters do work. So there has to be a way to make them work. Also the characters work in the chatroom at the Forum Coding -website.

Some other characters also don't work. Like the character % for example.

Word of advice.... Always backup your db / www before any plugin install for the first time, or for any updates. You ALWAYS have a fallback....

In the event you didn't back it up, I'd simply uninstall the chat, make sure the tables dropped and reinstall....

Looks more of a limitation or server restriction...

Goto Diagnostics / Problematic Webserver Modules and see if Mod Security is Yes. If so, that's why.

You will find "Entrez Votre Chat" in the Chatbox settings in the admincp. There you can change it to whatever you like.

Well i tried everything and can't get it to show on forumhome and also got problem in ACP!
FTP all fils in their respected directories etc etc but end up with no options inthe sidebar tools from ACP and can't see Usergroup Options lolll
Might be too tired or i'm missing something somewhere?!?!

Yes that's clear. If I will click on the smiley button displayed there 10 of my smilies and next to it is [More] when I click it opens a popup where the rest of my smilies will be shown this, however, can not integrate into the editor, if I have a Smilie them click it.

Ok, I think I read everything before asking - so please help.

As directed, I looked for /clientscript/mgc_cb_evo/sound/new_chat.swf in the designated .js file. I could only find embed src="clientscript/mgc_cb_evo/sound/new_chat.swf" in three places. (Nothing with the opening "/")

So I changed them all to embed src="mgc_cb_evo/clientscript/sound/new_chat.swf" and still no sound.

I then changed them all to "/mgc_cb_evo/clientscript/sound/new_chat.swf" and still no sound.

I found another line with the incorrect path (the two directories swapped) and changed that too. Changed to <img src="mgc_cb_evo/clientscript/cross.png" instead of clientscript/mgc_cb_evo/cross.png --- no sound still.

What am I missing???

okay finally got the english language part working : there is instruction missing in the read file .

Upload the product : it will show the option in french

then in language & pharse : Upload english.xml from Lang folder.

Overwrite Language : Select English (US)

ignore the language version .

after loading , Logout from admincp and relogin ;).

I have this running on vb 3.8.7. It runs great.

But when I go User CP > Edit Options, I get a white page with this error:

I have tried this fix and still no luck, I have also searched for other fixes with no luck on trying those. Can someone tell me where this fix is supposed to go in the smiles vb4 template. I have tried at beginning with no luck and at end with no luck. I still cant add more smiles.

It sends them a PM letting them know they are banned and such, but it has no effect on their ability to post in the box.

My users nor I (Admin user) can't change their font/color in the chatbox ? I can't find the setting to switch it on or off, and the only color in use is the default one set in the usergroup settings? Anything i'm missing ?

I've tried it with inputting the color or font directly using bbcode, and that works.

Huge thanks for this plugin, it is in use on our forum and working very well by and large.

Big +1 for the option to have reported chats made available to all moderators rather than just admins as it is presently. As requested above, it would be great to have similar functionality to the core vB 'report post/pm' button whereby when you click on 'Report chat' on a chat in the chatbox, the chat is reported in the same way as for reported posts - ie an email is sent out to all moderators and a 'reported chat' thread created on the forum. Hopefully it's possible to use the same core reporting code in the vb codebase.

One important thing regarding that option though if it is implemented - can the reported chat please be an exact copy of the original chat that was reported.

As an example if users click on 'report chat' and then the user that wrote the chat edits it or deletes it after it's reported, at the moment the 'report chat' admin control panel (ACP) feature is not much use because it just retrieves the latest version of the chat from the db and displays that in the admin panel on the 'reported chats' ACP page (so by and large it will just appear to be an innocent chat, or worse if the chat was deleted the chat entry will be completely blank in the ACP). In the case that someone reports a chat it would be best to have a verbatim copy of the original chat that was reported otherwise it makes it very easy to avoid your chat being read again as it was originally written (even if users don't know about this exploit/hole, generally if they've written something wrong or bad they will just automatically edit it anyway to protect themselves, making the original chat disappear for all time).


On a similar note, another great addition would be the ability to have a history for each chat - so for example if someone edits or deletes a chat, a copy of the previous chat is stored on the server and is accessible when you click on that chat's history in the archive page drop down list next to the chat (perhaps if the chat was deleted have the chat content ghosted out in the main chat entry in the archive table?). I can appreciate this probably isn't massively required and must admit myself it would only be used occasionally on our chatbox (although we had an incident the other night where someone went into meltdown and said a lot of seriously litigious things but then deleted or edited all their chats before any of the mods could see what was said and we can't really switch editing of chats off for one reason or another! Also because of the 'bug' in the chat report page above, none of the reported chats were visible because the user had deleted all of his chats before a mod could ban him!).


Bug report: Channel names listed incorrectly in archive page navigation drop down lists
In the archive page, if you have more than one additional channel then any non-default channels are displayed with the same channel name as the last channel that was created in the navigation drop down list. For example:

In fact there is only one General Poker Chat channel - however we do also have a 'Mods Chat' channel as a 3rd channel, but that isn't listed and is instead a duplicate of the Poker Chat listing (just to confirm I do have permissions as the logged in user to view that channel and it's archives).

Selecting either of the Poker Chat options ^ does just list the Poker chat archives (ie it isn't a case of one of the labels just being incorrectly displayed).

The 'Mods Chat' archive IS viewable by manually editing the GET options / URL in the addressbar (ie /mgc_cb_evo.php?do=view_archives&channel_id=1).

I don't know if it makes a difference but the Poker Chat channel (channelid=1) was created after the Mods Chat channel (channelid=2) and then the order of the channels was changed so Poker is display order 1 and Mods is display order 9. Both channels are restricted to different usergroups.

Looks to me like it might just be a simple looping error in the codebase perhaps?

i did try this but with no good results!

It displays on every pages alright but the emplacement is not where it should!

Either i don't understand or i am totally lost with the control options since we have both 3.8 & 4.xx in the same window to work with!

For those having an issue with smilies not getting added to the chatbox input field when on the "More" page, here is a fix.

Edit the mgc_cb_evo.php file search for :
$template_hook['headinclude_bottom_css']Replace it by :
$headinclude_bottom

Sorry to say, but this is why all the sites I run/manage/am hired to clean up, is the BIGGEST NO NO! Anything more than 15 groups and you can debate with me in the face until you have a chocolate bar come out the other end and you still won't win....

Cut your usergroups down....If you have more than 30, it's time to merge. ;)

Unfortunately, since the end of daylight saving time (summertime), the MGC Chatbox in my board http://www.blasted.de/ displays the wrong time. The time in the header is correct, the time in the posts is always one hour behind. Why is this? Is there a workaround for this bug?

Ok, this I fixed this by creating the "mgc_cb_evo" folder inside of the /includes directory and copying the class_display.php file (from the download, but in the mgc_cb_evo/classes folder) into there.

Not sure why those files were laid out in the wrong place in the upload, maybe because I'm using VB3 and the filesystem is set up for VB4?

Goto Vbulletin. This has nothing to do with the plugin. You need to run a sql query and if they aren't in the same time zone, you will have issues...

Looks like you didn't copy ALL the install files..... ;)

READ THE INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED PLEASE. It tells you how to enable it.... Each usergroup you have to enable it for (another reason the people that have 15+ usergroups need shot. LOL) ;)

You have to copy the images files from the MGC zip to each custom style.. I think there might be a few calls in the JS file as well.

VBDev is almost ready to bring a beta version to me and the other beta testers which already enables this feature....

This is why you ALWAYS DO A BACKUP OF THE DATABASE

READ the un-install info and follow it. I can't stress how many time people miss files.

BUT THIS TIME JUST REINSTALL IT.

RE-INSTALL, making sure to copy all the files. If that still doesn't work, it's the Mod_security issues. And that means it's an Apache box.

Sounds to me like you forgot to copy ALL the files over. AGAIN, YOU PEOPLE NEED TO LEARN TO DO DATABASE BACKUPS.

Fully uninstall it via the instructions, reinstall, and try again. If that doesn't work we'll go from there.

I have imported the English, however in the ACP I still see French (yet when you click on the options it show English). Am I doing something wrong?

Note: I read a lot of these post and a lot of people ask: How do I change "Entrez votre chat" to English:
To do that, go to the ACP, on the 7th MGC (see below picture) pull down it's labeled "Mise en forme des chat". There is an option 5 from the bottom to change it to whatever you want.

However, how do you change the ACP block to English? To text when you open it is in English. Strange...

Read the install file buddy. It's right in that...It's step 4 in the upgrade. Don't you people read the Readme file? ;)

Go in the Download/Upload item of the Language manager menu and then:
Select the English language file from the Lang folder.
Select the forum language to overwrite.
Set the Ignore language version option to YES.
Launch the upload.

The security token was a CRSF (don't remember exactly) but it wasn't chat related. You CAN search through the posts and I know there was a way to fix it.... But it's on your end almost certain.

Crap, that's a CSS styles issues. You'd have to go into the template itself and change things. And my patience with coding this week is at like -20. I guess you could compare the normal skin to the changed one and modify it.

That boing sound (annoying, I know) you can change by making your own. You'd have to do a conversion to swf but at this point, there is no multiple sound options. THAT is to be in a future release. ;)

FYI, I just checked on my ifail (iPhone) and I can see my chat. I haven't checked on my droid, but more info is needed.

I can state for a FACT it works on IOS 4 and 5.

What version of android OS are you running? What browser? Have you tried "Dolphin Browser" for droid?

The sounds files are in \mgc_cb_evo\clientscript\sound in the zip file and that's where they should be on your server. It's only got 2 sounds. So you need to enable them in the admincp.
