Just found another little problem..

I have the maximum font set to 4. But, if someone manually types in the font size, they can set it to whatever size they want.

Is there something you can add to say if it goes over xx it gets reset to the maximum number? Like if a user entered 7, and my max number is 4, it would be reset to 4?

I know, the option is just here to hide it from the select.

It was a bit complicated to check also size as I don't modify the way bbcode are handled in vBulletin so I can't really change that you know.

The first message bug is still there.

Note.: The message set on admincp doesn't show in message box when the bug is present

Maybe do it like the Ban and ignore mods....You can select a shout to be stickied within that dropdown menu, and then unsticky it the same way?

Yes that's a good idea.

Honestly I don't know.

As far as I know it shall be working with the module. Have you tried to work it around with stangger5 the author of the module ? He's a very motivated guy and always try to help people out.As stated, I don't want to use the module. I was primarily using it as a test to see if it worked comparatively with the page variable option. I am frustrated now, as I attempted to revert to the previous version and it also now displays the perpetual "Loading ..." message. I can offer a $20 donation if you can get this working for me as a page variable on the vBa page, otherwise I will likely be forced to abandon this mod in favor of another. I don't want to do this, of course, as this mod offers the best features.

Yes that's a good idea.

But I must say that if automatic posts removal is active, stickied posts would be removed as command are independant from that task.

Do you have any idea how I would be able to create this through the use of the command system?

I have changed the width of the header so that it matches up with the width of the center part so it looks okay. However, prior to installing the chat box, our center area had a width of 800, its now up to 1000. We would like it back to 800 if possible!!

OH yes you're right. Just ran Safari on my Mac and saw that problem too :(

I am not sure that with the actual system it could be possible to make it, I think I have to add the possibility, in the chats retrieval command code, to add sql order by conditions to the query.

So you'll have to wait till a new release :)

G'day i am ahving a huge problem with the chatbox.

Basically I type somehting into the input field, hit enter and nothing happens.
I uninstalled, reinstalled. It worked for an hour and stopped again.
Permissions are all set correctly.
Running latest version.
Help??

This has already been reported I am trying to figure out what's the bug as this one is really vicious.

I have changed the width of the header so that it matches up with the width of the center part so it looks okay. However, prior to installing the chat box, our center area had a width of 800, its now up to 1000. We would like it back to 800 if possible!!

The only thing i see is the input field width, that's all that could make it behave like it does on your forum.

Basically, the only thing that will be needed is to add a field in the mgc_cb_evo_chat table called sticky.

Then the menu would, through ajax, set this field to 0 or 1.

And in the chats retrieval query there would be an order clause : ORDER BY sticky DESC,date DESC :)

I'll do this as soon as possible by the way.

Is there a way to change the smiley retrieval so that it retrieves the smilies by their order number? I have alot of smilies installed on my forums and retrieving them randomly or by date added really puts a weird group of smilies in the chatbox selection. It would be great if it displayed them by order number that way the admin could have a little more say in what smilies are displayed.

I currently have smiley selection turned off on my forums because of this. I'm sure my users would love to have the option of having smilies though.

Great script VBDev!

Our users complain that they can't set a color for their entire session, they need to set it each time they type a line. Is this something you can fix? Till then they want me to switch back to Cyb Chatbox, which is fine but not as featurerich!

They can do that through their usercp !

Because /del is not correct, there are parameters, check the help in the chatbox :)

I've found a stange thing. ;)

If I go with the curser to the black marked place (at screenshot number: 1), there is no link.
But if i go to the green marked place (at screenshot number: 2) and click there, I get at the profile I wish.

So at the black marked place is no link, but in the green marked place.

This happens only at the latest shout. At all other shouts it is working well.

Any idea?

From the prior non EVO version? No. When you read the readme for the new evo versions step one of install says "Step 1 : If you hadn't previously installed the chatbox, skip this step
1/ If you want to keep an archive of the chats from the previous version, download them from the archives page of the chatbox as we unfortunately have to remove them due to the incompatibility of the new version and the lack of time to write an import script."

As far as from the evo versions... I have updated from the first evo up through the current and the archives have stayed through each update (so have user settings.) Hope that helps :)

thanks adnedarn, since there is no way to upload the old archive to the new evo version - will it be possible to change(manipulate) the stats, my members are gonna hate me if the old stats are gone :(

I would be grateful for the IP command. As we allow our guests to post on the chat box, we often have spam on the shout box, and would love to be able to retrieve the IP address and ban them.

This would really benefit our forum!

I don't think you have understood the feature, I was speaking of a command that would return to the user who sends it it's ip.

I was hoping that the problem with the module was the same as the one causing my perpetual "Loading.." on vBa portal (page variable method). This is not a problem of stability for your problem.

The problem is that you are certainly using vBAdvanced with the forum in a folder, so there is a problem of path.

I have tried to use a variable of vBAdvanced config files from within the chatbox code to have the right path but it seems that it's not working properly or it's not visible.

I think I'll try to take my eyes on that problem as soon as possible.

Do you specific parameters in your browser ?

For clarification, my vBa portal is in the root directory of my site, not a subdirectory. Stagger5 just released an update for the vBa module that now works. Though I vastly prefer the full width version as a page variable, I am content to use the module for now and wait out a fix for my preferred method. Thanks!

Oh ok then if it's in root directory having it in a variable should work.

Today's update wasn't a real update you are not forced to update boy :)

This is just that I changed the product files to correct a mistake (ban command phrases and settings were in it while they shouldn't have been, I just forgot to remove the ban command before exporting the chatbox product).

So you are not forced to import it again he he.

It means that when the menu is opened and is a bit over the input field, then the input content will appear above the menu.

It's a problem I can't fix but that's not a big big problem, it won't mess up with your board :)

When you use this commands the message prompted refers to 1 phrase (mgc_cb_evo_cmd_del_success) instead of 1 for all and 1 for 1 only message.
It's not possible to add a management for smiles? smile permission or a separate management for smiles from forum?

Also, how can I delete guest posts? There is no drop down arrow beside their messages? I can remove them in the Archives section, but not on the main chatbox?

I did not have this issue with the previous version, but since I uninstalled and reinstalled from scratch I cannot get changes to the permissions to save with PM and TEAM commands or channels. I select the revision and it displays the update message, but the changes are not there when you go back to confirm.

Prior to this last update, I had the chatbox showing properly in the Arcade. Since the update the chatbox has disappeared in the Arcade. I have checked the changes I previously made to the Arcade template and the arcade/functions/functions.php files and they are all still there. I have everything set the same for the "Display and position on forum" variables.

Was something changed that would have caused this to disappear?

Let's try to explain what I have said... lol :

when you use actions near chats : "Remove all chats of" and "Remove the chat of", a window appear with the same phrase/sentence for both actions : "The chats were succesfully removed".
Now it would be :
Action : Remove all chats of ---> Response : The chats were succesfully removed
Action : Remove the chat of ---> Response : Chat was succesfully removed

That's normal, the same phrase is returned for every shouts deletion wether you delete one or more.

Smiles : it's would be useful to have only some smiles in chatbox, especially those not too big (used sometimes in forum)... that causes formatting problem to Chatbox....

This is why I'll add an option to retrieve smilies by their order in the smilies manager of the acp.

That's normal, since the menu is not accurate when dealing with guests. And this is why I added the deletion tool in the archives :)

I did not have this issue with the previous version, but since I uninstalled and reinstalled from scratch I cannot get changes to the permissions to save with PM and TEAM commands or channels. I select the revision and it displays the update message, but the changes are not there when you go back to confirm.

Prior to this last update, I had the chatbox showing properly in the Arcade. Since the update the chatbox has disappeared in the Arcade. I have checked the changes I previously made to the Arcade template and the arcade/functions/functions.php files and they are all still there. I have everything set the same for the "Display and position on forum" variables.

Was something changed that would have caused this to disappear?

No I haven't changed anything that would cause it to not appear in the arcade.

This is a great mod and well worth the effort!!! It's the most popular thing on our forum. The developer spends MANY hours answering these questions and working on it, with little thanks in return!

It was a bit of a headache trying to figure out what I missed, but once it's up, it's up. I definitely do NOT recommend installing this hack if someone isn't really experienced with computer stuff.

I also have the problem when people's first post isn't showing up. Inactive mode is turned off, so I know that isn't causing the problem.

The problem with the multiple steps is the command installation for you ? I have done it so users install only what they want to install as command.

The only part that I want to modify in order to make the install simpler is the upgrade process between each new version.

For the moment, you have to install back all commands xml after an install due to a specific behavior of vBulletin (normal one).

To avoid that problem, I'll make two products: the chatbox itself and the chatbox command products.

This will avoid command phrases and settings to be erased upon new version install :) Thus diminishing the process of upgrade.

About install, honestly if you read carefully the install instructions it's really really no problem IMO. I have made my possible to make it as clear as possible !

The only thing I could do more is to make the install procedure as a manual with images so that users who don't like reading readme (they are intended to be read though ...) could get it to work.

What you must understand is that we, coders, can't make all the job ;)

One of the job of a good forum admin is to read carefully install instructions before installing a mod. Like you would logically do with anything else you would be installing or buying for your computer.

I Deleted the english language, reinstalled it, still the same, its always greek! I uploaded tools and i've put through the command the default english language, its still the same, in greek!

Phiouuuuu...wish things with this mod were more simple...

Your english language is utf8 on your forum ?? Then it's normal that uploading the english language file is messing things up.
English language is normally ISO-8859-1 which is what is set in vB by default for its language.

What have you done on your forum to make languages behave like that ? Coz you only tell things but not what leads to the problems.

So all your problem are fixed except the one for chatbox in vba ?Correct! I love this mod, but I also have a great desire to get it working as a page variable in vBadvanced. The center column restriction is not working well with my styles. It also appears to load much slower as a module.

Incidentally, I tried the page variable method with ibProArcade and it works perfectly. When making the necessary edits, I noticed the globalized variables required. On a hunch, I added these variables to ACP-->vBa CMPS-->Default Settings-->Portal Output Global Variables, but unfortunately it still freezes. Are there any other variables that need to be added? I am probably on the wrong track, but I am trying at least.

The pop-up menu is only disappearing after refresh the whole page.

tnx 4 update!!

i would like to request a new optional feature;
Display current server time, with option if it should take the user's location into account and display local time, or truelly the server's timezone time.

I would have use for such feature, and due to the ajax refresh, the time is updated everytime the ajax refreshes, so pretty up2date ;)

Thank you for the update Dev. I see in the "Chats sending and formatting" options where you added the smiley retrieval by admin cp's order option that i requested. I'm not sure if it is pointing to a different directory than my smilies or if it just plain isnt properly working but for some reason it does not appear to be properly placing my smiley selection.

I also have the smiley categories mod installed on my forums, i'm not sure if this is causing some sort of conflict. Below is a link to the smiley categories mod.

When someone selects the drop down menu (and the shouts are refreshing, the user must refresh the entire page before they can select the drop down menu again) (tested with the chatbox refresh rate at 3 seconds)

No work around to this so far.

Must be re-written. (no matter what time you have the refresh period set to, anytime during the refresh period, the drop down menu will cease to function until the entire page is refreshed)

Also the delete command does not work within the shouts archive, the usergroup that is designated with the permission must select the checkbox and delete the shout that way, it would be advised that the option from the drop down menu be removed when in the shouts archive.

i have turned off automatic refresh has been disabled until this can be fixed

also the userprompt is in french, and i aint going changing more phrases.

The problem is not a question of standard, I have decided to develop the mod in french language by default as it's my mother tongue.

The problem is that many users don't "think" when they install a mod. They don't go through all options or else. And you know a good admin should to ensure good configuration of his forum.

About the options, this is due to a missing feature in the archive js file I didn't thought at that ooops sorry :)

Should have tested dropdown in archives...

About the refresh thing, this is something I didn't encountered as my refresh rate was higher than that but I'll look at that.

Have you installed the updated product ? It seems not as the sticky field shall have been created upon upgrade.

Yeah, i've installed all following the instructions within the zip file. Uninstalled all commands, installed and overwrite the product, language, installed the command manager and installed all commands.

Perhaps the errors occurred during the new product installation. I'll keep an eye on the database to see if the error occurs again.

I would advise you VBdev to re-apply this modification as BETA, as it has a long way to go.

And no negativity on your side, it would have been more professional if you were to de-bug this script within a private beta testing area, rather than publicly.

About install, honestly if you read carefully the install instructions it's really really no problem IMO. I have made my possible to make it as clear as possible !

The only thing I could do more is to make the install procedure as a manual with images so that users who don't like reading readme (they are intended to be read though ...) could get it to work.

What you must understand is that we, coders, can't make all the job ;)

One of the job of a good forum admin is to read carefully install instructions before installing a mod. Like you would logically do with anything else you would be installing or buying for your computer.
I wasn't trying to criticize you. I just wanted to share the reasons I had problems during installation. Having all the images files in the images folder is easier for Uploading, especially if you have a lot of styles on your forum.

I think you did a great job with this mod & I think you for it! :D :up:

Honestly, the fact that user can change the percentage is "your" problem, as admin you must be aware of what you are doing and should configure it correctly so that you ensure compatibility for all design.

i ban a user in the chat box, but they can still use the shout box

yet the person banned gets a pm saying they are banned

and the ban /show shows that person as been banned!

I have tested it before releasing the new version and the ban was working. The chatbox just disapeared to me when I refreshed the page.

Do you have specific configurations ? Were those user able to use the chatbox just after ban but not if they reload the page ?

About the syntax, you are not using the correct one, check chatbox help for syntax, the good syntax is /ban on uname Admiral.

This is not a bug, this is more a missing explanation which shall be in a manual if only I add time to write one...

Channel images must be uploaded in your styles directory in the misc/mgc_cb_evo/channels, this is certainly why it didn't worked for you.

About the pm, yes if the pm command is not attached to a channel it appears in the general channel with the from word before (or to if the message is sent to another user by you) but is ony visible to you and the message recipient.

I don't see the point of going back to BETA. Does Jelsoft goes to beta for each minor bugs in vBulletin ? Hopefully not !

The few bugs that are still in the mods are really minor issues.

I don't intend to behave in a professionnal manner, vBulletin is a hobby for me so I won't constraint myself as I do at work (as a digital electronic designer).

And you know I deliver this mod for free and there are hours and hours of works behind that. Compared to the number of hours of code and number of lines, honestly those bugs are ridiculous ;)

Installed 0.3.0 in hopes of it fixing the page variable method, but it did not. Instead, the page variable method will not even display the box now on vBa or ibProArcade. Furthermore, the vBa Module no longer functions. It appears as if you are logged out, with no entry box and no icons.

I didn't changed anything to the global thing, there is no reason it wouldn't work anymore in iBProArcade.

I wasn't trying to criticize you. I just wanted to share the reasons I had problems during installation. Having all the images files in the images folder is easier for Uploading, especially if you have a lot of styles on your forum.

I think you did a great job with this mod & I think you for it! :D :up:

For some reason, whenever I use international characters like ?????, the entry doesnt go through. Do you have any idea how to track down the reason for that bug?

This characters are working well for me (french does have those specific chars ;)).

Do you have other issue on the forum with ajax features (like quick reply or quick edit) ?

I long ago experienced this kind of problem and it seemed to be server dependent but I honestly don't know much in that field so can't tell what in the server configuration was messing up.

Only users that have management rights can sticky messages. Does those user haven't the rights ?

No they don't, but isn't suppose to show up the Sticky option only for these users? There is no reason to an ordinary user view this option if they can't use it.

Thank you for the update Dev. I see in the "Chats sending and formatting" options where you added the smiley retrieval by admin cp's order option that i requested. I'm not sure if it is pointing to a different directory than my smilies or if it just plain isnt properly working but for some reason it does not appear to be properly placing my smiley selection.

VBdev, use the following in trying to understand the bugs,

and no not jump to the most obvious of assumptions. It is insulting.

pay close attention to the ban images, because although it said that the user name admiral was banned, a minute later i was able to post a message. ban does not work, and the chatbox does not dissapear as you said when the page is reloaded.

and pay close attention to the images displaying the broken image links.
the image name is inserted correctly within the admin panel.

and also, when you ban someone from the shout box, with the drop down menu, the (ban option, should be changed to unban when the ban action occurs)

Yes that's right, new shall not be added either.

The warning system was introduced after the first release of the chatbox, and seems like I forgot to update that phrase.

I note it right now in the "bug" list.

About the ban problem this seens indeed odd. As your reported me that it wasn't working I have tested it and this was working for me.

Ohh ! Now that I am thinking, you talked to me about pm on ban.

Was wondering if somehow it's not that who causes the bug.

I am at work so can't test but please could you try deactivating the pm on ban and see if it works ?

About the menu, yes you are right this should be change to unban. I'll see what I can do about that but I am not sure it's easy to change that as per regard to the way it's coded but I think I can.

NOTE: I am using the latest release of this product with the latest release of the commands (not an upgrade)

Maybe it should be investigated that the command is its self buggy with the latest release of the chat box. along with version 3.6.7 of VB

I also installed it this on a clean installation of VB 3.7(test board) and the ban error is not there, so it is most definite that this is a bug for VB version 3.6.7

you would have to place these images in the current directory that you have them in at the moment (when you uploaded the images to here, you selected to uplaod from a URL, keep them in this directory on your server)
for each of these images, there has to be three (for a animation) so it can have a notification, if you do not want an animaton then just use the one image.
and when you go to select an image for the "image path way" select

mgc_cb_evo_(YOUR TITLE)
and for any other channels, do the same as above.

What I meant is that if many users launch that command and set a high sending rate that's not cool. So I was suggesting an option in the admincp to set a minimum min number under which user can set to avoid that.
But admin can already create commands.. So I don't understand why you want something that already exists.

There shall already be a border around the chatbox itself as it's using the border css class.

This is not a problem with MGC Chatbox Evo but previous version MGC Chatbox.

You have not followed correctly the instructions to uninstall it when installing the MGC Chatbox Evo.

To correct that problem check that you don't have anymore a chatbox related file in the includes/xml directory, if you found one, remove it.

Then activate the debug mode on your forum and rebuild bitfields manually.

oh yeah i just upgraded to forum 3.7 beta 5 and i could post ??? on quick reply with ajax feature it works splendid however when i tried posting on shoutbox its still the same :/

1. What I meant is that if many users launch that command and set a high sending rate that's not cool. So I was suggesting an option in the admincp to set a minimum min number under which user can set to avoid that.
2. But admin can already create commands.. So I don't understand why you want something that already exists.
3. About url command not yet thought at it.

Installed 0.3.0 in hopes of it fixing the page variable method, but it did not. Instead, the page variable method will not even display the box now on vBa or ibProArcade. Furthermore, the vBa Module no longer functions. It appears as if you are logged out, with no entry box and no icons.

I am also having this problem - I have gone through your instructions numerous times to try to get the chatbox to show on our Arcade page, and it won't!!! It was appearing correctly prior to the last 2 updates. Can you PLEASE have a look at it? We're getting complaints from our members.

Also, is there a reason you removed the option to have the chatbox in the Archives? I thought that was a great option!

You haven't uninstalled the mgc chatbox (previous version of the chatbox) before installing this chatbox.

You have to remove the files of the previous chatbox and then activate debug mod and rebuild bitfields manually.

About the archives, I removed it because there were incompatibilities between the chatbox and the archives.

I seem to be having the same issue as Admiral was on banning users.

I ban people, they show up in the ban list, however they can still use the shoutbox.

Not sure what you mean by specific options...... If you mean commands then I have the team, /me, announce, chat removal and ban users

Settings for usergroup I'm trying to ban are

can view = yes
can use = yes
can manage own = yes
can manage chatbox = no
can view archive = yes
can view if min not reached = no
show prompt = yes
min posts = 20
posts per day = 0

If that is possible, this really would be great.

If not: Is there a possibility, to "clone" the style and disable chatbox only in that style, so that the users mentioned above are able, to choose that "no-box"-style and by that can deactivate the box?

(Box is set to be only displayer in forumhome)

Here you will find three settings for where you can show the chatbox:

Position of the chatbox on the forum home (forumhome)
Position of the chatbox in the forums (forumdisplay)

Ok seems to have found what the bug is :D

It seems that when i did update french commands, i forgot to update the english ban command :/

I'll update the chatbox package in the middle of the week once I'll have checked that all commands are consistent between packages.

A temporarly fix is the following :
1/ Edit the ban command
2/ In the phpcode chat display replace options by userinfo :)

I've been running this mod for a few weeks now and it seems to be running ok.

I've just checked my cpanel error logs and there's a few errors relating to this mod.

File does not exist: /home/<username>/public_html/home/<username>/public_html/forums/clientscript/mgc_cb_evo_cmd/mgc_cb_evo_cmd_pm.js
File does not exist: /home/<username>/public_html/home/<username>/public_html/forums/clientscript/mgc_cb_evo_cmd/mgc_cb_evo_cmd_ignore.js
File does not exist: /home/<username>/public_html/home/<username>/public_html/forums/clientscript/mgc_cb_evo_cmd/mgc_cb_evo_cmd_del.js
File does not exist: /home/<username>/public_html/home/<username>/public_html/forums/clientscript/mgc_cb_evo_cmd/mgc_cb_evo_cmd_ban.js

I don't have a /home/<username>/public_html/home/<username>/public_html/forums/clientscript/ folder on my server; it's root/<username>/public_html/forums/clientscript/.

Is there a file or setting where this location is set? So that I can check it out and maybe change it to the proper location?
