All posts/threads that are set to "moderation" is being displayed in the chat box. All moderated posts shouldn't be displayed by any of the normal members in my opinion ^^_. I've double checked it, it also shows for public users:

In fact, there is already an option for that.
Each user can turn on/off sound forum their "UserCP - > Edit Options"

But I agree with you, it could be easier.
May be with a button on the chatbox???

Admin control pannel > MGC Chatbox Evo : Chats formatting and sending > Activate the BBCODE IMG > select yes button and save. May also have to activate Can us the BBCODE (if active) in usergroup permisisons.. not sure :p

That option is already there in each one CP. Just enable the option in the MGC CP.

Well it's using vB bbcode parsing so if png files don't work in the chatbox it's certainly not working elsewhere on the forum.


I can assure you PNG files are showing on my forum. I'll test it again in the ChatBox again and report later.


No I don't think. I noticed that once but when you refresh things are just fine.
I had refresh everything and it happened maybe 3 times. But since then, it did not happen again. I'll cross my fingers.

Yes I still have to improve it I know... The notification also remains when the thread is deleted.

Including the permissions within each usergroup? admin control panel > User groups > user group manager > edit user group (each one) > MGC Chatbox Evo : Custom permissions (at the bottom....) You need to enable it there for each one, even admin.

Follow the instructions for the language pack.. I think the only things not translated are those fields that you can enter in the admin CP... Fields like: /ban command : Content of the sent PM

If you do this part: # Go in the Download/Upload item of the Language manager menu and then:

1. Select the English language file from the Lang folder.
2. Select the forum language to overwrite.
3. Set the Ignore language version option to YES.
4. Launch the upload.



The settings are in English. You just need to change the actual content of a few fields... These are pretty much only in the Command options section of the MGC Chatbox Evo settings though. If you don't see MGC Chatbox Evo

Nevermind, got it fixed. Had to upload the lang file about 20 times but it finally took.

I don't know what could cause it to only partially import like that.. but I'm glad you got it. I understood none of it had changed to English and that's why I was saying to follow the language instructions.

It was working fine until I got the language problem fixed, I also cleared my cache, not sure if that if the cause. But I cannot use the shoutbox at all now.

* 3.6 version of vB : Don't forget SECURITYTOKEN modification as explained in install instructions
* Check that you haven't any non reverted chatbox templates (one that you might have modified)

I think clearing my cache screwed something up on my end cause I can't see anything. I tried rebooting, reconnecting etc.. nothing has worked.

nah- clearing your cache couldn't cause a problem.. it would just redownload the files.... How did you do it? Hold CTRL + Shift press reload? Which browser? Have you tried another (IE/Firefox...)

Firefox, just used the clear private data option.

It's enabled for guests now.

Well I went as far to backup my drive & reformat thinking my something on my computer got seriously messed up. I have tried everything and it's still doing the same thing. So I'm starting to think it's the script itself. Cause on I.E. it saying there is an Ajax error.

Hello. I have a little problem with channel management. I am unable to display a channel icon on the left of the channel.
I have uploaded an image to the images/misc/mgc_cb_evo/channels folder and entered the name of that image in the box Name of the channel image in the AdminCP (with no extension as it says).
Whatever i do, that image don't want to dispaly. Only the name of a channel is seen. I even tried to upload the image to /images/misc/mgc_cb_evo/ folder. Change the name of the image to mgc_cb_evo_(name).gif and still nothing.

Please advise.

MAK-upl - This is what's in my name of channel field and it works... mgc_cb_evo_tteam then you need 3 images for it in the channels folder... mgc_cb_evo_team_new.gif, mgc_cb_evo_team_nosel.gif, mgc_cb_evo_team_sel.gif

MAK-upl- You name the channel whatever you want. Then in that *Name of the channel image* space you enter *mgc_cb_evo_team* but replace the "team" part with whatever you name the images... for the sake of being easy... in the folder you download there is a channel_icons folder with a set of icons for team (you'll see team in each of the 3 file names).. upload those into your channels folder on your server and set the name of the channel image to what I have above. Each of the 3 images is for something different.. the _new flashes. the _nosel is a faded image and _sel is a normal icon. You'll see what i'm talking about when you look at them. You can look at those 3 images and see what you need to do to make your own if you would like.... I just use the team icons for the second channel cause they were provided :D

There is no such table in the MGC Chatbox. The table that stores all the chats is called "mgc_chatbox" there is no "prefix_mgc_chatbox".

Hi- I wonder how the limit on chats per 24hrs is counted... if it is 1:32 now.... Is it updated per min? (1:32 pm today to 1:31pm yesterday) per hour? (1pm today to 12:59pm yesterday) per day? (12pm -11:59am daily) Just so I can get a better idea of when a person is over how long of not chatting it takes to update.
Also, when I turned it on today- I had to turn it up to almost 4000 I know he posts a lot, but I don't think that much :p

edited: just used the find all posts by user and I count about 105 in the past 24hrs... not 4000 *shrug* but there are 3525 by the same person in the current history. and I just had to up his from 3500 so I guess it's going by that count. Which goes back to Dec 18th.

It's yahoo css based. You have to edit the whole css or surchage it.

Well if you look closely it's stated that the extension, _sel and _nosel are not to be inputed !!!

The mgc_cb_evo prefix is not mandatory at all !!

You just have to put everything in the name of your image before the _sel.gif or _nosel.gif or _new.gif, that's all.

I see that you have a feature request for a chats per min flood control- to be honest that could replace the chats per 24hours I think.... Control over per min. vs control over per 24 hrs.... the per min control will be more effective. So, your call on that.

Did you play with the settings in the usergroup manager of the admin control panel? There is the option "Refresh rate in seconds (if auto refresh is active)." to set refresh rates for each usergroup. I think 30 was the default... but don't remember now.

Yeah that's weird because the v1.5 tables don't come with a prefix before the name so unless an older version was made to do that I'm not sure how they would have gotten like that unless someone manually changed them. I dunno I'm sure VBDev can shed some light on the subject :)

i was wonting some one to upload the files that get edeted to sort the bugs but i did a fresh install deteted it all again and uploaded it all and seems ok now im using (vBulletin 3.7.5) now since i was getting the probs could this of sorted it ??

Well 1 min is a small time, I am not sure that would be really that good !

I don't know if you mean server intensive or usability wise... but here is what I'm thinking. Say you want no more than 6 chats a min. per person. And you assume someone is going to send 6 chats a min for the 5 hours they're on the forum.... That's 1800 sends. But then you have someone else that is only there 1 hour a day- They can send 1800 shouts in that 1 hour and be fine. That's what I'm trying to avoid so it seems a time frame shorter than 24hrs would be better. Maybe not 1 min.. maybe 15 mins? or even an hour? Hope that makes sense. :)

How difficult would it be to include a variable so that if someone has the chatbox "full and a popup window" like it is on my site, that it won't show the chatbox above the forums in duplicate? A lot of my users like to use one monitor to chat and the other to use the forums. My old chatbox was of the IRC / Java variety and hooked up to efnet. I used Iframes to display it above the forums, and that replaced the vb header to make it look seamless.

I'd like to display the chatbox in an iframe again, but i'll live with just it popping out and disappearing from the forums.

Thanks. I thought i'd mention that this mod is a VERY easy, yet extrememly robust system to install. I don't know if you know this, but vbOptimize mod messes with it. PS... I have noticed one error that comes up, but doesn't really affect performance.... I get a script error "SOMETIMES".. You know, it says "Done, but with errors on page." When i pull up the error code, I get an error on line 3 character SOME RANDOM NUMBER but > 2000 usually. Error is object expected. URL: http://www.quad4forums.com/forums/mgc_cb_evo.php?do=view_chatbox Usually a page refresh clears it up, but that error also comes with "loading..." and not much more from the chatbox. I've also had some probs with ajax "hanging" but nothing too bad. Just the little circle thing next to the OK button keeps going forever. Not too bad for free!

Yea, few members are mentioning the same issue about the ajax error.

Also, small issue.. When pressing "ENTER" when you are private messaging someone, it CANCELS the whole message rather than sends it! :) Just wanted to mention it so you know about it.

did any one test the ? and the % to see if it works im still having probs with them if i type them in and hit enter they will disapear and then i cant type anything else till i refresh the forum

I have a same problem, and not just that characters.... ALL special characters not showing, and after that I must refresh page to send any other message.... Characters not shown (some of them): ?Đ?ČĆ?đ?čć and NOT working with ? and %... maybee some others....

I'm betting that your chatbox table is gone for your sql database now, but something in the php or java is still referencing it. Make sure your vbulletin plugins don't still reference the chatbox somehow.

Usually you forget to enable it in the usergroups. ;)

Um, if you don't see it at all, you either didn't install it right, didn't setup usergroups...

If you see the chatbox and nothing is happening and it's saying loading it's a different issue. You clearly said it wasn't showing, not loading. Sounds like it wasn't done right.

Screen shot the usergroup settings for your usergroup for the chat and post.

Chatbox not working any more after updating to vB3.8. The chats won't be displayed any more. You can write something into the chatbox, but then you can see the messages only in the archive.

Completely reinstalled - same problem.

How difficult would it be to include a variable so that if someone has the chatbox "full and a popup window" like it is on my site, that it won't show the chatbox above the forums in duplicate? A lot of my users like to use one monitor to chat and the other to use the forums. My old chatbox was of the IRC / Java variety and hooked up to efnet. I used Iframes to display it above the forums, and that replaced the vb header to make it look seamless.

I'd like to display the chatbox in an iframe again, but i'll live with just it popping out and disappearing from the forums.

Thanks. I thought i'd mention that this mod is a VERY easy, yet extrememly robust system to install. I don't know if you know this, but vbOptimize mod messes with it. PS... I have noticed one error that comes up, but doesn't really affect performance.... I get a script error "SOMETIMES".. You know, it says "Done, but with errors on page." When i pull up the error code, I get an error on line 3 character SOME RANDOM NUMBER but > 2000 usually. Error is object expected. URL: http://www.quad4forums.com/forums/mgc_cb_evo.php?do=view_chatbox Usually a page refresh clears it up, but that error also comes with "loading..." and not much more from the chatbox. I've also had some probs with ajax "hanging" but nothing too bad. Just the little circle thing next to the OK button keeps going forever. Not too bad for free!

Yea, few members are mentioning the same issue about the ajax error.

Also, small issue.. When pressing "ENTER" when you are private messaging someone, it CANCELS the whole message rather than sends it! :) Just wanted to mention it so you know about it.

The private message thing is stated in the feature list ;) It's not a bug, it's just not supposed to work like that by default within yui popups that's all.

Is it default style or custom one ? Try different chatbox positions and if it works for one check the readme there is a little how to about the issue with some styles.

When I say that works on forum, I meen - posts with our specials charachters working without any problems (like on this forum :)) We CAN write ?Đ?ČĆ and everything is showing up like here ;) Forum works with FULL enable AJAX functions (on General Settings is selected Enable All AJAX Features).

Oh strange. Without error messages I don't think I could find anything unfortunately. Perhaps more of a browser timeout or something like that.

Well if your forum is not set to be right to left written (like arab language), you won't be able to.

About the channels, go in your admincp, there is a page for that in the chatbox menu.

Well if you are using vB3.6.9 and are encountering errors then it must be because of a step you forgot during install.

Have you done the security token tip stated in the readme ?

There are no compatibility problems with cyb chatbox. While doing the import scripts for the 2.0.2 version in december I even add all the stated chatbox system my import script handles installed and no problem :D

I must to reply myself.... I found where is a problem..... mod_security!!! It's ON and on vBulletin make a problem.....

After diagnostic results are positiv, and this is solution by vBulletin:

The above setting will indicate if mod_security is preventing some AJAX requests from being submitted to vBulletin. If this shows Yes (it was on me!!!) then you either need to disable mod_security or change the AJAX settings with the vBulletin Options and disable Problematic features.

So, now we know where is a problem......

P.S. IE and sometimes other browsers MOST have a scroling problem when EDITOR is UNDER and Chats display order are Oldest First!!! Posts are not shown correctly - I see OLD posts on top, and window not scroll to new written posts on bottom..... Maybee bug? On old version 1.5 I don't have this problem EVER!

Yes sorry you don't have to search for $search but $find_text.

About the permissions, no it's not normal, it shouldn't act like that.

Are you sure the chatbox product is installed and the files are well uploaded ?

Have you done all the bug fixes that are available near the item in the bug list ?Ok - it wasn't the chatbox. After the update to vB3.8 our forum had problems with ajax. Not only the chatbox was affected - but also Quick-Reply and other features.

We made a few server configuration changes and now it is working fine on vB3.8 :)

This seems to work ok, but I am having two issues.

#1: Instead of displaying what I would assume should be an image, it says "Submit Query" in text.

#2: If a member doesn't have an avatar it says the text "Avatar".

Is this intended functionality?

So the problem is actually that the variable $stylevar['imgdir_misc'] is getting URLencoded before vB does whatever replacements it needs to do. Or at least whatever string is including that variable for the image output is getting URLENCODED too soon. Again, I don't know where this is happening, but I'm trying to figure it out.

Ok, I found the exact cause now, it's my custom theme. It has a custom variable called {IF} (Images Folder) which translates to "%7BIF%7D" when it's URLDECODED. So somewhere within this mod I'd guess that it needs to check/process the replacement variables when building the images folder variable ($stylevar['imgdir_misc']). I have no idea where that might be or how to do it though.

Ok, I found what the problem is, just not a solution yet.

I searched this thread and found one other person with the problem, although no solution was posted.

The problem is, somewhere the text "%7BIF%7D" is getting inserted into the image URL paths. I've done some searches and cannot find this text anywhere.

That's because you did not remove all files! That is because you miss a xml file.

Nope, that's not it, the image files are there, etc. As I said later in the thread, the problem is the URL path is not being generated correctly and that's where the problem stems from.

I'm using 3.8. It's a template issue, in that the Replacement variable {IF} isn't being resolved before the path is passed to a urlencode function. Where this is happening, I don't know. So, while I think you're right in general, I also think this could be a problem for anyone using a custom template with a custom variable in the images path.

Unless you are 3.8, it's a template issue on your side. I've only seen a few bugs otherwise with 3.8

Same problem here, cant fix the security token thing cuz there is no mgc_cb_evo.js

edit: I added that line to all three .js files and it works now. someone should update the readme

The security token for versions < 3.6.10 and < 3.7.0 RC4 goes in the very top of mgc_cb_evo.js which should be in your clientscript folder, if installed correctly at least.

Well, I would recommend you to follow the uninstall instructions of the readme correctly :)

Yes I removed them as they in my opinion where of no use in the archives.

So the problem is actually that the variable $stylevar['imgdir_misc'] is getting URLencoded before vB does whatever replacements it needs to do. Or at least whatever string is including that variable for the image output is getting URLENCODED too soon. Again, I don't know where this is happening, but I'm trying to figure it out.

Ok, I found the exact cause now, it's my custom theme. It has a custom variable called {IF} (Images Folder) which translates to "%7BIF%7D" when it's URLDECODED. So somewhere within this mod I'd guess that it needs to check/process the replacement variables when building the images folder variable ($stylevar['imgdir_misc']). I have no idea where that might be or how to do it though.

You uninstalled without following the readme. ;)

Delete all the files, it's probably the xml file. If that doesn't work, reinstall, then this time follow the directions to uninstall and it will be fixed.

When I had vbulletin 3.74, I installed this mod , uninstalled it, upgraded to vbulletin 3.8 and now when I change any settings in a usergroup and save it I get a database error... saying" MySQL Error : Unknown column 'mgc_cb_evo_permissions' in 'field list'"

I notice that in the usergroups that the "MGC Chatbox Evo : Custom permissions" options are still there. How can I fully uninstall this mod? In plug-in/Products "Manage Products" it shows that it is not installed.

Hmmm - after doing the 2.1 upgrade there's a strange problem.

Entire Chatbox stays empty for IE users - Opera & FF work fine. The archives work and all chats are shown, still IE users have an empty Chatbox.

There're no JS errors, mod_sec reports nothing as well and the Webserver / PHP logs reports nothing as well. :confused:

EDIT: Problem solved ;)

Problem was that is was set to retrieve the YUI components NOT from the site itself. So Users of a better IE configuration using the Zone Settings to whitelist sites, setting their security settings to "High" for the default Internet Zone will have a problem with external JS code.
The same applies to Noscript Users of Firefox who whitelist the Board URL.

Yup - that's it. No mod_sec / suhosin problems.

Related to mod_sec & VB - like mentioned in this thread to disable it - do NOT do it. Instead, run it in Detection Mode whitelisting files as required. :)

EDIT2 - I just confirmed Dam's problem. It's almost certainly account-specific. The option to turn off the chat box in your UserCP is BUGGED. Do not disable the Chat Box through your UserCP, as you will not be able to turn it back on. The setting keeps defaulting to keeping the Chat Box off.
There seems to be multiple people getting the issue! Possible you can take a look at it VB?

Diminish this value if you have problems with the chatbox size with your style or if you simply want to change this size. (In pixels)

Drop the number down until the scroll bar disappears ;)

The screen displays "Loading.." if you use firefox. I was facing the same issue, but used IE and didnt get "Loading".

Solution -

I was getting the error because of the "NoScript" plugin used by me, to block advertisments.

You will need to allow the yahoo server site :).

Well you should have carefully read the readme, there are uninstall instructions that were written for users to read them ;)

Remove the chatbox files from your ftp and things will get back to normal (especially the one in the includes/xml directory).

To fix your mistake, remove the chatbox files from your forum. Especially the one in the includes/xml directory.

1- Have you mod_security enabled ? (ask Ranger187 for info on the subject or search this thread)
2- Might an issue with right to left not taken into account by the chatbox (which is the bug list so that's ok no need to report it again it's noted)

OK I found a big problem here.

I was in holidays when upgrading the Chatbox to 2.1.0 and it was working very well. Now that I'm back at my home, where my Internet connection is quite slower than where I was before, now my ChatBox is only loading and loading without being able to see anything on it.

I also asked some people on my site and everybody who have a 56k connection have the same problem than mine.

All the other users don't have problem.

I have to mention that we've tried everything. Cleared cookies, cleared cache, refreshed pages many times, tried other browsers, other computers and still nothing.

Is there a way to resolve that?

P.S Using branding free version.

Well you have to carefully follow the install instructions, you are not supposed to create a new language but import over the existing one :)
