Tapatalk is an app developed by a team so answer is no, they would have to do something on their side I guess.

What's wrong with mobile? Chatbox is too big?
Chat doesn't load on low bandwidth mobile connections. Its a frequent complaint. But as bandwidth availability is increasing and phones are getting better, the complaints are slowly decreasing a bit. Would still be very nice to see a solution to this.

Well you shouldn't have installed the language file, the product is in english by default.I followed the instructions:
Upgrade from the version 2.3.0 or newer
The upgrade instructions are the following:
Upload the content of the Files folder in your forum root.
Upload the content of the Images in each of your forum styles directories.
Log into the admin control panel of your forum and import the product located in the Product folder.
Go in the Download/Upload item of the Language manager menu and then:
Select the English language file from the Lang folder.
Select the forum language to overwrite.
Set the Ignore language version option to YES.
Launch the upload.
You have succesfully upgraded your chatbox, you just have now to set the new permissions and options.
If you plan on using the option to display users number of chats in the postbit and/or in the profile, go in your admin control panel and run the update counter script from the chatbox menu in order that the older chats gets taken into account.
You are done.

How do I activate the chatbox on Photopost Pro and vbadvanced? Photopost has the chatbox, but it will not load. Photopost is in a different directory than the forum.

I have variable option turned on and added mgc_cb_evo_var to the main vba options.

Sounds like a server issue here. Have you checked the cpu usage?

No I didn't... but it's strange, because other web has it and it's working fine, in my web the messages load one by one when I refresh the page (f5).
I'll use this new version and I'll come back if I have the same problem :p

vBaDvanced is a separate product. It has been for a few releases. Photopost was never supported but since the CMS integration was added, external use/support was removed. I'm sure if you post on http://www.mgcproducts.com and request photopost integration, he will either add it, or make it a module.

Re-installed previous (older) version. It seems the pages are messed up with the chatbox enabled. Regardless which page you go to, it always goes to page 1 of any thread. Also noticed a huge increase in server load.

Yes , it stays small/collapsed and will not expand while the PM channel is activated and it is impossible to see or use the chatbox. All is ok when this is switched off , but of course I can not then use the PM feature then which we use a lot. this seems to be connected with the "removal of the PM chat in the main channel"

So have gone back to 3.0.0 hoping for a fix or a pointer where to edit ;)

Registered users is where you set it to display it by default. The option you are showing is AFTER they are logged in. That's after the fact, that they logged in. That's a UserCP setting AFTER their usergroup takes precedence. Hence USER selects. It's simple.

Can someone please post an example of what I would need to add to the postbit template to manually place the chat count? When I enable the feature from the settings, it places it under everything else (including the thumbs up mod I'm using) -- I'd like to place it right under "Posts".

Usergroup options. But from the sounds of it, you either have sql or template edits over riding this.... I'd revert to a backup at this point if nothing else works. You do take backups right?

An observation... 3.3.0

When a page loads with Chat enabled, there is a significant wait between the page header and the rest of the page displaying.
I'm guessing some Javascript is waiting for page load when it should use an event.

Maybe its related to PHP5.3. Sites that run PHP5.3 needed to remove various code from vbulletin to make it work with php5.3. This includes the deprecated 'new by reference' and causes various addons/functions to stop working if those addons use deprecated code or rely on deprecated code in vbulletin.

It's got to be a missing file or setting. Use error console/debugger to show issues. ;)

I see it on our site. But we are 5.2 php. Obviously this needs addressed if it's a php issue.

And on windows with firefox or Opera the drop down next to a members name is not usable at all. Because it doesnt work and is misplaced far from where it should be.

After I installed it, I went to Usergroups and tried to modify the permissions. Unfortunately, everytime I clicked on Update, it just gave me an error page.
I then removed MGC CB, and tried to update the usergroup and it was fine, but the whole point of updating the usergroup was to allow permission to use the MGC CB.

Either make a Chat usergroup (don't make it their default) and enable/disable it.

Or enable/disable it in usergroups when you don't want to use it.

i hope someone could help me here; i bought the pro version back ago and support didn't solve my issue - instead they closed my support thread. very professional...

anyway, i need this one solved, so please; any hints would be appriciated.
i'm running this mod for some time now and everything ran well untill updated to latest 3.3.0 version. now my sidebar notifications doesn't work anymore.

what it does is that (when notifications are enabled) the chatbox keep reloading itself and there is no notifications sidebar (forum block) present.

while i was debugging this issue i found out that i can temporarly set this running if i do the following (in these very steps):
- enable sidebar notifications
- clear system cache
- reload the forums

now the sidebar notifications are present
- if i reload the forums again, the stuck reloading issue repeats
and so on...

i'm lost.

That issue was resolved in 3.3.0. Also make sure mod security isn't enabled.

Yes. Basically you add them to a secondary group (You can use sql and mass do this) or you can just have VIP/paying etc etc.

I want to inquire about the running of one of the scripts that comes with MGC Chatbox Evo,

mgc_cb_evo/cron/mgc_cb_evo_ban.php

We're currently on version 3.2.3 (so we have applied the fix for checking ban expiration on permanent bans ourselves), but my question is unrelated. Where is this script called from, and how often? A few minute bans tend to take a lot longer than a few minutes because of the frequency of this script's running.

I ordered the paid version plus professiona install on the mgcproducts site. Yesterday evening someone attempted to install the chat plugin on my site and from appearances they uploaded over my admincp so that the only file that shows in there is mgc_cb_evo.php . Needless to say my site has crashed. Yesterday evening I patiently posted in mgc priority support, PM'd "MGC" and PM'd VBdev on this site without one reply. FIXED THE LOADING ISSUE, at least the one I was having. I was using html in my title input field through the admincp for the chat box. I just changed it to plain text with no html, and it loads beautifully!

Cayton. a few things here I'd like to point out.

1. Always take a backup before you do anything.

With that said, I have no knowledge of this install and I messaged VBDev to see if he did.

I do however see a post on the forum stating an error was encountered and you removed access, thus prohibiting anyone from fixing it.

No. When I select the notifications to be in side block (vb4) my chat flashes on and off the screen.

If I just have the side block enabled, nothing shows up. I included a screenshot of the evo_chat side block settings. I may just be missing some code. I have tried with text/html/php all selected. Still nothing. Thanks for the help

Clement: could you please address the issue of not having any commands and the drop down not working? Its a major issue as I cant even ban people from my chat.

I suspect this is caused by the PHP5.3 new by reference deprecation and the vb3.8 fixes that PaulM posted for this.

Did a search in this thread and nothing turned up unless I missed it...

Installed this on a VB 3.7.2, it works fine, but when enabling the PM tabs function the box disappears and it looks like this:

Turning off the PM tab feature the box returns to normal functionality. Is there something we're missing here?

Are you referring to the down carat to the left of the bubble next to the name? If you click it, it does NOT show, right? Try this, click on the carat, and scroll down. You might see the box floating in the middle of the page somewhere. If that is the case then you need adjust some of the CSS for the chatbox.

You need find the div 'div.cb_vbmenu_head' or a dive in that 'Actions' block, and adjust the element position:absolute; to position:relative;

That worked for me when I couldn't find my dropdown either. Cheers!

VBDev..... We are running the live version on mgcproducts on php 5.2 I think it's time to have it upgraded to php 5.3 because this issue is too large and replicated among a lot of people now.

I am running PHP v5.3.13 and it works for me....

Just a thought, the people with php 5.3 do you have short open tags on or off in the ini?

It's in the install readme, and on VB admincp, it's in the maintenance area > diagnostics.... Tell me what it outputs. Will either be a yes or no.

Tomorrow after 4pm EST, I'll be home and I can login to your server and troubleshoot it if you want. Just PM me the: hostname, username/password (that has admin rights) and I can look around.

If we do this, FIRST preform a full system backup SQL/WWW dir.... and if something goes wrong, you can quickly push the restore back.

I think the issues with 3.3.0 are... due to not enough beta tests done. Obviously changes need made in quality control and addressed because previous releases had less bugs.

VBDev has been super busy working on the VB5 alpha version (it's not even beta) and other activities but he said he'd have more free time to work more on it.

There is no temp ban that I know of.

Make sure you have the ban feature enabled: AdminCP > MGC Chatbox Evo > Manage commands > Ban

Make sure that's enabled, and that the usergroup you want to be able to use that feature is enabled.

/ban show , or type /ban and the full list shows.

This is why it says to do a backup BEFORE you do anything. In case the person installing ANY plugin messes something up or doesn't follow directions they can revert.

The solution is simple. Edit your config file and disable plugins. Something else you did is causing that error.

I give up. Never had such problems with a hack before.

First - I installed the software like it was said in the readme. As a result I could´t access AdminCP. I just get a white page.

Second - I tried install the software and copy the files after that. It was possible to configure the chat, but it seems that the icons can´t be loaded (we use just the default skin, so the path must be correct). When I try to post a message I get a security token error message.

i love this, but if you have an "privat chat" and you switch from privat to public and back, nothing refreshs in privatchat. you must refresh the whole site to see the new text. all looks like frozen ;)

Trying to import the product (after uploading the files in the instructions) and all it said was "importing product, please wait" and never finished. Tried twice with no luck.

The only deviation from the install instructions that I made was the images folder. It says to load that into each of my "forum style folders" but I didnt have any forum style folders. So I loaded the Images folder contents to the forum root folder.

Your default images folder is /images , not root.. The error you are getting is either a file or mod_security error.

Ok, I understand what you are saying to an extent. So should I put the contents of the images folder into my "Images" directory?

Read the readme, you obviously just deleted files without following the uninstall info. ;)

1. ALWAYS backup your site before you make any changes. <----------- I can't stress this enough for n00bs or people not familiar with it. AND for experts.

2. Reinstall the product. That should fix the issue.

well I did read the readme, folowed it step for step. But I didnt do a backup... :(

I tried re-installing and still get the same issue. Even tried uninstalling VBulletin and just installing that and same thing. Very frustrating :(

I bet you didn't copy the files over correctly to the right dir.

I've installed the mod, made sure the chatbox is activated in the settings and played around with the positioning of the chatbox, despite this, the chatbox is simply not displaying anywhere. The issue isn't template related because I've checked it on the default vbulletin style and it doesn't display there either.

Anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

If i open the chat to full screen it works however if i use the chat on the home page i just keep getting the security token error

QL, just search this thread for security token and you'll find it. I personally don't remember that error as it was like 2-4 years ago I last dealt with it. Maybe MGC/VB Dev can shed some light on this....

Does the chat list new topics in the chat by chance?

Also what's line 0 say in postdata_postsave.php

I don't have new thread notifications enabled. I am using VB 4.2 PL3.

One user group has its first post to my board moderated.

When I click "validate" then "save" I get the error I listed above.

What is the process of upgrading to 4.2 if im currently on 3.8 and have the 3.8 version of this mod installed (v3.0.0)?

1) Should I first upgrade, uninstall it and install the 4.x version of this mod?

2) Uninstall it before upgrading to 4.x then install the 4.x version of this mod after upgrade of forum is complete?

Also, would uninstalling remove the the tables originally created by this mod? What are those tables?

FYI - I have the pro version but site (http://www.mgcproducts.com/icart.php?do=product&productid=4) says that it supports up to 4.1.x, will it work fine with 4.2.x?

If you look in your browser console (in firefox for example), do you have any javascript error ?

Only one specific smiley is making the issue, all other seems to be OK.

On the "more smiley" page when I click on this smiley it's not redirecting but it's not putting the smiley in the chat (while it's working good with others smileys)

Is there a way to limit the CPU this uses? Its literally a host killer

I've noticed it was cpu intensive on unix boxes, but on the Windows Servers I run, it's not as bad... Probably has to do with the Admin (That's me!) ;)

Try setting the refresh up higher.... I know there's quite a few settings you can change to limit the resources. Also the YUI can be offloaded as well under the options.

Change the settings, and list your processes and go from there.

Curious.. Does anyone use the pro version: MGC Chatbox Evo PRO v.3.3.0?

I am currently using version 3.2.3 and it's working flawless.. So I am hesitant using a newer version (Scared it might break something)

If you are using it (pro version).. Any issues? Any cool features? I don't quite understand all the new bot functions

This mod has way to many request at startup. Not sure putting 40 additional request on every page is something I want to do. I wish there was a setting so I could tell it to only load those files when the chatbox is loaded.

If you have it load, it's going to load any files. So say a search bot indexes/views, it's loading. Ajax is real time.

Yeah I understand the technology but don't see why it needs to load 40 different javascript files on every page. I assume I can change the hook location so it only loads on the chat page since I don't plan on using it on any other page. I have the javascript and css on a pull CDN on NetDNA's network so it isn't the end of the world, but it is waste to load all that javascript and css on content.php when I plan on never using it there. I am trying to limit unnecessary request to my users. Furthermore it appears as if a lot of it is rtl (right to left) css which my users will never use since 100% use the latin alphabet.

I highly doubt that...

Instructions state, as with all plugins, you backup your forums. So simply revert it if you had issues...

If you're on VB5, it won't work.

Failed to open won't F your forums up. Did you bother trying to reinstall it over top of itself?

Great mod! But the icon doesn't change to mgc_cb_gen_channel_new.gif. I've created another channel but only mgc_cb_gen_channel_nosel and mgc_cb_gen_channel_sel are displayed.

Don't they change automatically or do i have to use specific settings?

The channels icon only shows if you have channels enabled and have more than the default one displayed. Meaning default and <channel 2>.

If at that point you don't have a channels icon showing, make sure you copied it from the channels folder in the /images folder to the correct theme you have/are using.

_nosel (http://puu.sh/48Ljn.png) and _sel (http://puu.sh/48LjH.png) are working but the _new icon doesn't. Actually, if there is a new chat in the channel there should be _new displayed, or not?

So my forum got put on a temporary hold on hostgator because of too much cpu usage. It was mainly due to the Ajax refreshing. I noticed it got bad when I allowed unregistered users to see the chatbox. We are on a shared server so we can't use that much cpu. I took it off for guests, but I want to have it for them to see because the activity on the chatbox is a real selling point of the site. How can I reduce server and cpu usage while keeping the chats there? Would making it refresh after an extended time like 20 seconds help? Also how can I terminate previous Ajax process cuz the hostgator people say the Ajax processes are stacking on each other which is causing an increase in server load

If you let unregistered users see the forum it means search crawlers will see it too that might be the reason. Do you have a huge amount of chats displayed inside the chatbox ?

I don't think it's a question of refresh, rather the fact that you allowed unregistered users.

Killing processes is server side, you should ask the support from hostgator.

What I mean is that in that case, web crawlers (google, etc...) see the chatbox and they tend to be numerous and visit a lot.

You could first try to reduce the refresh rate for unregistered users that might reduce load a bit (something like 30s) for unregistered would seem fair choice if you only want them to see it.

You'd have to ask MGC on that. I think it's part of the MGC Chat itself (inside a php file or script)....

And I'm not about to go searching through it...

You are not forced to activate the new message warning in channel and therefore don't necessarly need the _new one.

However you explicitly need the two others as they are used to display which of the channel is selected. You can't disable that part.

Sadly, that's what you get when you have VPS hosting. The more people on that server, the less resources as a whole gets allotted to everyone as a whole.

Change the refresh to 30-60 seconds and disable it for guest viewers. That's your only option for VPS.

It was not an error...instead of buttons in the chatbox editor i had text that replaced the buttons.
But for some strange reason it is fixed now so everything is working like it should be.

Just wanted to post it here that my problem was solved lol.

This did not fix the problems. To check on a friend PC what did NEVER visit the site before, was still the same problem. I update from 3.3.0 free version to pro 3.4.0, how is it possibal to go backwards please
