I use Firefox 2.0.0.12 and yes I dumped the cache. To repeat the errors all you have to do is go to my forum's homepage, login, wait until the chatbox reloads, then navigate to a couple of other pages on the forum, wait till the chat reloads and poof 10+ errors get reported in firebug. This time I attached a screen shot to better help you out with this.

You need to navigate through some pages to encounter that error?? very very odd.

Do you have any other errors before those refresh_chat errors ?

Awesome addon. But it does not seem to be possible to post a "plus" (+) in the chatbox, it gets filtered out. What is the reason for this and how can I fix it? Posting a "minus" (-) is no problem, but + is not possible.... very strange

I have just tried posting a "plus" and it worked. I don't see why it wouldn't.

Is there something particular on your forum (language or so ?) ?

the + works fine fore me... Is there anyway to get the /me emote command back?

How do you make channels? I don't understand the: Name of the channel image and then it tells me I have not made a command: "Command attached to the channel". Is there some readme on how to make channels?

Also, your whole mod is infected with junk mac files that everyone will end up uploading! .DS_Store You need to remove this junk from your Mod zips!

No I haven't had the time to write a readme.

Writing readme for every part of the chatbox can took a lots of time and I am sorry to say that I don't have that kind of time.

About channel creation, what are the exacts steps, configuration you made ?

For the .DS_Store, being the owner of an iMac and iBook, I can hardly remove those files :D

These are files automatically added by apple Mac Os X system (hidden files), I can hardly remove them.

How do you use channels and the commands? Ive uploaded and installed a command. Where can we find some readme or manual for making new channels and using the commands. The supplied stuff has no real instructions for these.

Same as for channels explanation, there is no manual.

However, about commands, once you have installed a command, you can see in the chatbox help (? button) few instructions on how to use the command :)

Some commands works directly through menu items but some must be typed.

Perhaps I will see in an upcoming version if I can make a kinda completion system that would help knowing command syntax when typing a new message.

This is because you haven't uninstalled correctly the previous version of the chatbox...

Yes the bug about the menu has been reported to me already.

About the alert, when active, it makes the channel buttons blink upon new message in the inactive channels.

I have just tried posting a "plus" and it worked. I don't see why it wouldn't. Is there something particular on your forum (language or so ?) ?It is a normal vBulletin 3.6.8 Patch Level 2 forum.
Language is German and English, but it also does not work if I switch the language to English. Yes you can do that, the link for the chatbox is just : mgc_chatbox.php :)

Clicking on the icon represents Algdt smiles and the smiles of Almizd open list smiles and I do not show either of these smiles symbols or denominations
Hua also shown in the annexes as Mojoh
In an attempt to pressure one smiles in the list is not all smiles Alhak process copy and paste code image inside the box on the letter I wrote to me clarification on this flaw

What are the languages you have ?

Becareful when uploading an english language file on a language which could have a different character set it could leads to problems.

Yes, that's it.

English, encoding: standard ISO-8859-1.
Macedonian, encoding: Cyrillic Windows-1251.

How to solve the problem for the second language?

For the second language, you have to edit its options and change it back to the good encoding I suppose.

Request: Is there a way to change some code so when you click the create link button it will not only ask for the url but ask for text to represent the link.

Problem: longer links 100% break the theme layout especially in the vbadvanced block making it so a horizontal scroll bar show.

Solution: If there was a feature to have text hyper-linked instead of showing the actual url that would fix this and make links in the chatbox look so much better.

No normally importing the language file is just what you have to do :)

It's in the admincp. You have the manage commands menu link in the chatbox evo menu.

It's possible to modify the popup thing yes.

However, if the user paste a link "as is" in the chatbox there is nothing I can do.

You have not followed instructions correctly.

You were supposed to overwrite english language with the file I provide not create a new one ;)

Don't worry, the overwrite doesn't mean overwriting everything but just adding the phrases to the english languagE.

Could someone please help me with uninstalling this Chatbox.... Never imported the product itself, it is not showing up in my Products/Plugins. I changed the language settings and uploaded the files and images in my root. I am a bit apprehensive with the delete button and don't want to delete something and mess up my forum. Is there a search I can do in AdminCP to remove the contents of the MGC?

This custom rewrite rules have yo be used if you have vbseo installed on your forum.

If it's not the case I am not sure that can you use it your htaccess.

If you want the Chatbox at the top of the Real-Time Threads/Posts (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=125947), do the following...

Go in the admincp in the "Display and Position" options
Activate the option "Display the chatbox on defined pages of the forum in a variable" or the "Display the chatbox on defined pages under the navbar"
In the pages list, add "vaispy" and then save

Edit your vaispy.php file and find....

$header
$navbar

Directly under $navbar, add....

$mgc_cb_evo_var

Save.

Reload /forums/vaispy.php and it should be at the top of the page.

I hope this comes in useful to someone.

its not working with vb 3.7.0 Beta 6

I installed it at Beta 4 and was working fine but now i upgraded to 3.7.0 Beta 6 and now its giving me database error.
Some thing isnt working in vbshout.php

There is no such file in my chatbox, are you sure you didn't say a mistake ?

About the database error please tell me or I won't be able to answer you.

It will of course depends of the configuration you choose :)

If you set a refresh rate far too low, then you server will slow down, however if you use a normal refresh rate everything should run fine.

Got a quick question. I've done the temp fix for the banning issue. People do get banned now but only after 10 minutes or so. What is up with that? They instantly get a PM saying that they are banned but they can moan about it for 10 more minutes before they can't use the shoutbox anymore.

I hope you know a fix for this problem coz it really messes my shoutbox up.

When I try to unzip the [vB3.6.x-vB3.7.x]MGC_Chatbox_Evo_0.3.0.zip (using Window's XP builtin unzip software) I get:
Password Needed for file 'mgc_cb_evo_cmd'. Clicked on Skip File and got a bunch more files that required a password to unzip.
Note: I had no problem unzipping MGC_Chatbox_Evo_0.2.1.zip.
Does anyone have a workaround or know what I'm doing wrong here?

I haven't set any password for the file, this is indeed very weird.

Everything's working as expected with ONE small exception...

The WIDTH of the chatbox when opened up (not minimzed and closed) is WIDER than the screen so it sticks out to the right several inches too far.

Is there anyway to fix that?
Now that I look at it, it kind of appears the fonts arent styled to match the rest of the forum maybe?

You have to install the /me command for that :)

Have a look at the readme file in the commands/EN directory.

Is there a way to disable Chatbox in one style? I have a mobile style (and chat does not work on mobile devices that I have tested) so I would just like to disable it only for the mobile style.

Any suggestions?

I've taken the "yes" option in AdminCP "Display stats on the forumhome"

Unfortunately, nothing happens, nothing is displayed on the forum page. Perhaps I'm not doing something that I should.

Running vB3.7.0 RC1 in testvb with prior Chatbox V1.5 uninstalled before upgrading vB3.6.8 to vB370RC1.
Followed installation instructions.
In ACP > UserGroups > UserGroup Manager
I try to set any usergroup's Chatbox Permission to Yes, then Save,
and get this error message:

I think it could be a too low refresh rate perhaps but not sure.

Running vB3.7.0 RC1 in testvb with prior Chatbox V1.5 uninstalled before upgrading vB3.6.8 to vB370RC1.
Followed installation instructions.
In ACP > UserGroups > UserGroup Manager
I try to set any usergroup's Chatbox Permission to Yes, then Save,

You haven't uninstalled the 1.5 version correctly.

You should have removed chatbox files prior to the new install.

To correct that, you have to remove the 1.5 version files and then rebuild bitfields manually.

Hey can anyone help me? I've just installed the product through the ACP and i've then tried importing the english lang file, and it says

Thought this was compatible with 3.7.x how am I going to get around this? as in the vbulletin options, all of the MGC options are in spanish.

I was actually looking for one that would do two things

Allow the users to select a color for their name---makes reading much easier with diff colors

And

allow the option to hear a little alarm-(some little notification sound) when a new posting is made. this would allow the user to collapse the box and continue working while waiting to hear from someone they had said something to.

If you know a patch or a way to hack this in I would be very grateful!

OH---and the ability to limit the smilies choosen. I provide some tiny and a lot of big smilies for the posts---but would like to keep it small in the chat.

I will be toying with creating a subdirectory of smilies dedicated to the chat today---but given that I am not a computer person any help you might provide would be excellent!

The ban command doesn't work for me. I can ban a user, but it has no effect. Nowhere does it say the user is banned and they can still post in the chatbox. If I try to ban the user again, it says the user is already banned.

How do you un-ban a user? If it says a user is banned, and I've removed all of their chats from the chatbox, I have no idea what to do to clear the ban.... that really didn't work anyways.

I just need to make sure all users are un-banned, because I'm going to remove this command until it's working. I've set up a special user group in the mean time so I can prevent access to the chatbox. It would be nice to have this command working.

Got another feature I would love to see. I have perhaps hundreds of members who are using your shoutbox frequently and I decided to make some shoutbox rules for it. Because I've got some lame people who like to sign up for an account and spam in the shoutbox, I decided to make a 5 posts minimum rule before someone can use the shoutbox.

What I would like to have is the option to send someone a PM when they've reached the restrictions needed in order to use the shoutbox. This way a PM can be send to a member saying that he is now able to use the shoutbox and also include the shoutbox rules in the PM so people can't complain that they didn't know about the shoutbox rules.

Do you think this can be possible? I think it will be very handy to have. Not only for me but for everyone since you can put anything in the PM that you want.

Once they reach the number of posts, they do see the chatbox and the chatbox rules button so this is IMO sufficient.

I won't do a feature to allow users to change their usernames as the chatbox is integrated into vBulletin and so takes the vBulletin username colors.

About the sound, I don't understand you at all, when user collapse the chatbox, it's doesn't refresh anymore so there couldn't be any warning !?

About the smilies, I am sorry but I can't add this feature into the chatbox as I did developped it for another user, he paid me for it, and thus can't release the result of this job (I wouldn't agree if I did).

We cannot figure out how to get the second channel icon to appear.

Also we are in desparate need of a tone option. So that when you talk to someone you can hear when they respond instead of needing to sit and watch a box. We are a work site so people are reading and posting etc not just waiting for the next response in the box. Chatzy.com has this option and presently we keep several windows open and can hear when some one logs a response and can flip back to the site to read and respond. Just a little beep tone or bell tone that sounds when a new message is added.

Needs to be a user option--enable and disable from the chat box itself for when you want to ignore what is going on there.

Any thoughts?

I am NOT a computer programer so I am a begger looking for a morsel.......you could start with could it be done and if yes---could pm your fees to do it.

The only thing that could be done would be to tweak the warn system so that it plays a tone upon new message along with the blinking icon.

About the second channel icon, what have you exactly done ?

we have created two additional channels and tried several different thing in the "name" setting. It seems that we cannot figure out what file to tell it to look to for the icon. we have tried the nosel and sel despite the fact that the instruction is not to.

Is the tweak for the tone a customiztion that you would be willing to contract on? If so could you quote me a charge via pm?

Also, how do we get the commands to work---particularly the one to clear the screen.

EDIT:

I found this text string in the mgc_cb_evo_cmd_ban.xml file. I corrected the spelling and saved the xml file. Then I deleted the ban command and re-imported the corrected xml file. It had no effect on the message sent to a banned user.

What am I missing? This text really should be made editable in the Admin CP.

Nothing in advanced options for changing it..... or anywhere else. Any idea why deleting the command, then importing the xml file with the corrected spelling didn't change anything? In which file is that text actually stored once the chatbox is installed?

Another thing I've noticed is that I cannot change my default chat color as an admin. No problem with changing regular registered users color. I can select a color in the admin cp and save, but it always goes back to white. I the previous version I had installed, this was not a problem.

All of the problems I am experiencing are minor. Overall, this is a great addon. Nice work!

I think you should install the del command in order to be able to use it :)

What I am saying is:

AdminCP > Usergroup Manager > Administrators > MGC Chatbox Evo : Default chat color

I have a color selected from the dropdown list and the setting is retained when I click the 'Update' button, However, all of my chats still appear white. This only happens in the Administrators usergroup. The setting works ok for the registered users group.

An interesting note, the description in the box is: Default color (without the #)

However every selection in the dropdown list has the # sign before the RGB color number. Not sure that means anything, but it does hint to me that you may have intended this box to be a text entry field instead of selecting from a dropdown list.

To do this-- (I am not a computer person and don't know if you are so I will be as simplistic as I can)

1) go back to your downloaded folder
2) In that folder there is a folder called Commands -- open that
3) In the Commands folder there is a product file (product-mgc_cb_evo_cmd.xml) --upload that via the vbulletin Manage products (Admincp---> plugins & products --->Manage products---> Click Add/Import Products
4) Next Open the EN folder (or your language folder)
5) In there there is a read me file. The english instructions are after the french ones.

I think they were fairly clear but if you have a problem post again---I will check back.

I still cannot get my second and third channel icons to show up.

I have moved the image files. I have tried a variety of different names in this box

Don't put the file extension nor the sel/nosel suffix.

I can see the first icon but not the other two (although I do see the names when I hover and the channels work all I get are the image placement markers).

What name belongs in this box? I am pretty certain this is the problem. Please tell me with an example of what you have placed here. PLEASE!

An interesting note, the description in the box is: Default color (without the #)

However every selection in the dropdown list has the # sign before the RGB color number. Not sure that means anything, but it does hint to me that you may have intended this box to be a text entry field instead of selecting from a dropdown list.

There was a problem with older version of the chatbox. However, if you have correctly upgraded there shouldn't be any problem.

What I don't understand is that you're getting an error for one group but not the other, which is totally impossible.

Perhaps you have also changed your color in your usercp ? (options)

I still cannot get my second and third channel icons to show up.

I have moved the image files. I have tried a variety of different names in this box

I can see the first icon but not the other two (although I do see the names when I hover and the channels work all I get are the image placement markers).

What name belongs in this box? I am pretty certain this is the problem. Please tell me with an example of what you have placed here. PLEASE!

For each channel, you have 3 gif images which ends like that:

_sel.gif (image displayed when channel is selected)
_nosel.gif (image displayed when channel is not selected)
_new.gif (image displayed when the channel contains new message, if warn system is active)This is why it says to not put the end of the image name.

For example, if you name your images :

mychannel_sel.gif
mychannel_nosel.gif
mychannel_new.gifYou would put in that field : mychannel

Please HELP!!! Why is the chatbox continuously loading!? I loaded all the files in (file folder) to forum/ and loaded all images of (image folder) to each style I had... Changed settings and loaded the en script. ??? What did I do wrong???

What do you mean ?

I think he means to have the chatbox load in collapsed mode by default. I would be interested in this as well. That is, when a user loads the page with the chatbox, it's by default in collapsed mode with the buttons and input fields hidden. Only the chat is shown. User has to click un-collapse button if he wants to enter a message. Hope you understood that. :)

I took a quick browse through the comments to see if anyone has had the same problem.

Anyhow I installed this and really like it but had to disable it due to some serious lag in the chatbox between users. Everyones commented that their chats are taking too long to appear. Any idea why this is happening and how I could fix it since I'd like to continue to use this chat box.

AdminCP > MGC Chatbox EVO > General Options > Refresh time delay (in seconds)

This defaults to 30 seconds when you install chatbox. I wouldn't recommend setting it below 10 seconds though. This addon isn't really designed to handle a large volume of live chat. I use it on my arcade pages just so users can communicate with each other. It works great for that purpose. I didn't want to use my regular chat system on the arcade pages.

On my site, I also use a product called Addonchat, which integrates into vBulletin very well. They have a free version and several paid versions. (I use the Professional Plus... $125/year) The companies server handles the chat which is ok.... it uses their bandwidth, not yours. Read all about it here: http://www.addonchat.com/

The product works very well and has my highest recommendation.

The only thing I see would be the refresh rate.

However, when a user sends a chat, the chatbox automatically refreshes.

You can't put it in another directory.

All the content of the files folder must be uploaded in the root directory "as is".

You have certainly remove the akspam (?) mod but a bitfield xml file is still there in your includes/xml directory.

Remove it and rebuild bitfields manually.

I had to uninstall this because it caused a serious lag at my board. Some of my members couldn't even access the board when I had it installed. I tried changing so many different settings, but it didn't help. :(

Now I am getting a database error when I try to change Usergroup Permissions. It says "nknown column 'mgc_cb_evo_permissions' in 'field list'". I wish that when I uninstalled this product, it uninstalled completely. Now I have to try to figure out how to fix this problem I'm having.

When you create a channel, you create or attach a command to it.

So basically, to restrict access to it, you just have to go in the commands manager and edit the command permissions :)

It's strange for the lag. Do you have a big board ? What kind of host configuration do you have ?

First off: GREAT MOD! I really like this chatbox and the flexibility is has.

Problem:
Banning doesn't work. I have fixed several of the issues with banning, but it doesn't ban a user currently until they refresh the page. They can still see/type in the box until they refresh that page.

And also, I haven't been able to fix the spelling error in the PM that is sent to a banned user (as has been mentioned before).

i have a major problem vBDev and maybe you are the only one who can help me!
I am currently running 3.7.0 RC2! Which means no support from vbulletin side!

I had mgc chatbox installed and i went to upload the english language file!
In my forums default language is set to utf-8 on both english and greek(main)!

After uploading the language file following your instructions step by step...my forums got chinese!
Every greek letter appears as a question mark!

This is complete nonsense. After installing it on my board with more than 40.000 users the load did not change at all.

And this is not very constructive unless you tell me what is your server configuration and which option you have activated.

This always is a question of configuration, setting too much functionnalities on is not server savy so this could be a reason.

After installing this product including the English language I observed one phrase that was in what I believe to be French. I had enabled the prompt message and the term "Entrez Votre Chat >>" was being displayed in the box even though I had installed the English language. I searched phrases for that phrase and could not find it so I examined the installer "product-mgc_cb-evo.xml" file and discovered that is the default value for the prompt when everything else is in English. I edited the xml file and changed that to "Enter Your Chat >>", uninstalled the previous installation and reinstalled fresh and that fixed the issue. You may want to change it in the installer, you may not, that's up to you. I just thought I would share this info.

By the way, thanks for sharing this great shoutbox. It is by far my favorite of all the shoutboxes that are available.

Seems like files on your forum are all with the php5 extension ?

The only way will be to edit all chatbox files to replace .php extension by .php5.

When I go into the archives and select the shouts I want to view from the second channel.

I can see the first page of chats ok, however when I go to view the second page it as reverted back to showing the second page of the general channel.

You haven't followed correctly the install instructions as I have said to many others in this thread.

You should have removed the chatbox files and then uninstall the product !

Now the only way to fix it is to remove old chatbox files (MGC Chatbox not MGC Chatbox Evo) and then rebuild bitfields manually by activating debug mode and then clicking on rebuild bitfields in the admincp.

One more thing...
If you've upgraded from the previous Chatbox V1.x, eg V1.5, you need to DELETE all of the old/prior files. That's absolutely necessary.
There's also a MGC Chatbox template that's created (in V1.x). I've yet to learn how to delete this older V1.x template; but, it doesn't seem to affect the new Chatbox Evo.

Okay. Assuming you're running V0.3.0, did you upgrade from a V0.2x, or any earlier release?
VBDev makes it clear that you need to completely uninstall everything then load V0.30.
And, you have turned on the Evo Chatbox in your usergroups, right?

Have you turned on access to the Team channel for the relevant usergroups?
Also, in Manage Channels, under 'Channel command information' have you clicked on/allowed the usergroups you want to have access to the Team channel?
And, this could be a 'glitch' that VBDev needs to address.

Are you testing this using different 'test' people. I have different psuedo users that I log in as, one's a SuperMod, one's a Regular User, one's a Mod, and my Admin user.
And, you're right. It does appear that the Team channel only uses the default color (not a user's preferences) for, say, Team channel. Try putzing with that color if nothing else. In each usergroup there's a 'MGC Chatbox Evo: Default chat color.' Tweak that, see, if nothing else, if that has any affect.

It's not possible currently.

When developping the first version of the MGC Chatbox Evo, I have thought at it but haven't found the good way to handle it.

This is something I would like to handle but I won't handle it right now, it could take time before I add it to the chatbox.

Read carefully the install instructions, you just have to upload the content of the files directory in the forum root thus keeping the directory structure.

Yes It is, this is just that I am a bit busy currently. I do vBulletin during free time which is not a lot this month.

You just have to edit the command which is attached to your channel.

You'll then see an option which says wether you want the command to take into account the user chat chosen format or not.

A channel always corresponds to a command so you can't use another command in it.

I got it. I had renamed the directory for the admin cp. I renamed the upload folder to agree with what I had defined and it now works.

You haven't uninstalled the MGC Chatbox version correctly (version prior to MGC Chatbox Evo).

If you try searching for nbmsgshowchatbox in that thread, I think you'll find the answer. I have already gave it more than once.

I've already reported it, it's hopefully going to be fixed in the next version.

Sure it will ! I still don't know when I'll have time to work on the chatbox, but I think that it will certainly not be before beginning of may. I am setting up a company and it needs time.

Has anyone noticed a significant decrease in performance when this is installed compared to the regular MGC Chatbox? My site loads slower with this on.... I'm talking slow as in 4x as long to load. This chatbox must be pulling a lot more queries.

I overode the English language and ignored version... but it won't display..

I changed my FORUMHOME template to read

and modified the Chatbox display on forumhome plugin to read

If I disable the chat, my site is fast as hell... If enabled....tanks. I have it set to show the last 150 lines so it's not so bad....but it's definitely a lot slower then the previous MGC.

I tried to create a channel. It wouldn't let me do that without creating a command as well. I called the command "test". When I typed in /test in the chatbox .. nothing happened, except that the message "/test" was posted.

I am not quite clear on what channels are, though I think they are basically different chat rooms... such as "join chat for discussing crazy stuff" or "chat for talking about why dogs are better than cats".

I am not clear on what commands are supposed to be, but I think they are things that happen when you type in /command... like in IRC, typing in " /me gives a high five"

would output

I also think, again not sure, but think, that a command would let you switch channels, too.

Am I on the right track? What am I missing?

Maybe you have it set too high? I would think every 2 seconds would put a huge strain on resources, especially if a lot of people are viewing the ChatBox at the same time.

I had it set at 60 seconds afterwards, and it still froze everytime the shoutbox updated.

With the last version, you are not forced to create a command, the command creation can be done along with the channel creation.

All mods have issues with the new release ! Check the vbulletin.com news :)

I will be updating the chatbox for RC4 either on saturday if I have time or one week after as I am on holiday next week.

First of all, the first thing I don't understand is "Upload the content of the "Images" directory in each of your forum styles directories." What style directories? I have no directory called "styles."

Do you have a custom skin? You upload the images to the same folder.

Secondly, "Import the MGC Chatbox Evo product". What's that mean? Where do you go? How do you do that?

Have you ever installed a hack? If not, you might not want to mess with these as you will cause yourself more headaches. Try looking up some Documentation.

I think if the directions were a little less ambiguous, it'd be a lot easier to download and install...

Learn to use your forum before you go somewhere and call someones instructions 'ambiguous'

I got it figured out (I should have figured it out in the first place. My members like to look back at the days chats and see if they missed anything, so I usually keep the chats to around 200 kept in the box. I guess it was taking a second or so to pull the chats from the filesystem.

I dropped it to 50 and it's working like a charm now!

You do indeed have style directories if you have any custom styles. We also sometimes refer to them as "skins" or "themes". Styles have their own directories, which is usually the same name as the style. Like my forum uses two white/blue styles called Centura and Centura_X. So all the images for those are stored in a folder called centura. If you don't use any custom styles and you use the default theme that came with vBulletin, then you would add the images to your images folder. But if you use the default AND any custom themes, you need to add the images to each directory for a particular style, in addition to the images folder.

You import that through your Admin CP >>> Plugins & Products >>> Manage Products >>> [Add/Import Product] >>> EITHER upload the XML file from your computer. If your not familiar with mod installations, or you've never done one that wasn't a simple template modification, then I can understand why you'd be confused. But you'll find that almost all the major modifications here require these identical steps, and might even include some template modifications.

I'd recommend looking at some of the documentation, and even at some other mods on the forum. Once you get a feel for how everyone expresses things, installations will become second nature to you.

However, now that it's all installed, and I did the language thing and everything like that, how do I get it to actually show up in the admin cp or in the forums pages? You shouldn't be that in a hurry.

Requesting a quick fix is dangerous you know, it's better to take time to do something rather than hurrying.

Bitwise saturday is in 2 days...

The fix is not a simple line to add but multiple lines to add to comply with the new vbulletin cross scripting avoidance mean.

200 is indeed a big number of chats but shouldn't have caused a lag. I will need to test that if I can somehow a day :)

I did. I got all the commands set up correctly, too, but I can't get it to show up on the forums page. Where do I "turn it on"? I found the setting that says "position of the chatbox" (correctly configured), and also the one that says "activate chatbox" (also configured), but I can't get anything to show up on the home page. Why is this?

Sounds like you already do have it turned on. Display and position should control the rest.

I can't figure it out. Everything seems to be set correctly, but it won't show up anywhere on my forums. I've tried multiple variations of settings, but nothing will work. There is no chat box on my home page...

EDIT: I tried the direct link to the chatbox, which was http://[mydomainhere]/forums/mgc_cb_evo.php?do=view_chatbox

When I did that, I got an error message that read: Joe, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

What's the permission setting I have wrong?! I've checked the command permission settings, but all of them allow administrators access; I am an administrator, and I am the administrator, lol...why don't I have access??
