Anyone get this runing with the vB 3.0.5 init.php yet?

Also, if you fully upgraded to the 3.0.5 vB, did the rehack go smoothly? And is it working?
Running 3.0.5, rehack went smoothly, and more importantly... it works :)

Forgive the stupidity of the question, but I assume since I already have this hack on my boards in order to make it work with 3.0.5 I only have to edit the .php files? Will any more work have to be done to templates or phrases?

i don't believe the templates will have to be changed, but it may, i wasn't the one on my site that rehacked that one, i did the shoutbox, for that one i had to do the templates again, but it was separate. the best way to find out, is upgrade and see for yourself.

now that i think about it, after we upgraded and hadn't rehacked yet, the nav bar still had "arcade" on it, thou if you clicked on it, it wouldn't work. so i believe from that the templates were unchanged

Hmm i've got a problem, sorry I can't be bothered to read through 30 pages to see if it's been posted before, but I think it's a simple fix (I hope heh)

I overwrote all my existing Vbulletin files with a new set, but..
since i've done that and redone the arcade file mods, when I goto the arcade screen, it doesn't list the games
All I get is the "Arcade home / Your settings / Your statistics / Challenges"
The games DO show up in the admin panel though..

Anyone have any ideas?

Just copy over the arcade code to the relevant php's, we didn't touch the templates or phrases and the arcade still works perfect.

Hi, I've moved the forum to a new directory, the games do not work anymore UNLESS you search then via the Arcade search function then they will.

in the arcade.php look for : $perpage

and change the 10 for the amount of game you want per page... :banana:

I had to re-upload the new php file for my arcade and by "default" it shows 10 games per page. Well when you view my arcade it only shows 10 games total. When I go in and change games per page to say 25 then 25 games show up, so my question is how to I get the pages to show up at the bottom to view the rest of the games??

I have to say this is by far the best addition I have installed! The only thing I would live to see is a game listing by letters.

Example:

A B C D E F G H I J K L M ....

Maybe have the letters across the top of the screen and you can choose the letter that corresponds with the game you want to play. If you are looking for frogger you can click F. I know I sound like an idiot but I think it would be a good idea.

A user on my forum was trying to submit a score of a game he was playing but after that there is a problem with the vbulletin database this is the error message

Worked for me. Just try it. If it doesn't work, put the old file back and work through the hack again.

When I delete their scores, the #2 high score user gets the championship...but the little trophy doesnt show up in his/her profile.

Run forumroot/admincp/install_arcade.php. Follow each of the steps - when complete,
delete the file from the admincp directory.

The last thing you need to do is create a new "Scheduled Task" for the Arcade:
1. Click on "Add New Scheduled Task", in "Scheduled Task" section.
2. For the title, enter "Arcade Tasks".
3. Select "23" from the minute dropdown list.
4. For the filename, enter: "./includes/cron/arcadeupdate.php". (Without the quotes)
5. Click on "Save".

"games SET highscorerid=," this is your problem.

If your allowing guests to play, it cannot register a highscorerid because they have no id. You can either disallow visitors from playing, or, you can place an id check prior to the score write, to fix that.

If their not logged in, they shouldnt be able to play anyway. Thats your best bet.I have the same problem. Here's the error message:

Has anyone ran into this problem? It's not a major one but it sure is a head scratcher...

First of all, I installed the v3Arcade on vBulletin 3.0.6 (purchased on 01/21/05) and it runs fine. I have around 70 games listed on my site & they are doing well.

Now - I am running WinXP here with all the proper XP upgrades & I am using Internet Explorer 6.0.
The site looks fine here on my PC (my site is www.simtechonline.com/forums - it's a site dedicated to actual flight simulator technicians who work for the military and airlines) but when I go to work and call up the Arcade page on any of their PCs (which is using Win NT & IE 5.5) I get an image that is a expanded menu of the 'quick links' on the left side of the screen.

Besides the fact that a major airline can't upgrade their PCs to the proper browser :rolleyes: I was wondering if older browsers cause errors with v3arcade?

I apologize if this is the wrong forum to post this, but I've been digging thru countless forums for 2 days on this error.

That's because you didn't do your template modifications. If there is a template only install in the installer (I don't really remember..) then do that. If not, tell me and I will try and help further by writing one myself for the mod. I'm sure they won't mind if I help support their mod ;)

How do you install new games?

When you download a zipped game there will be a couple of files that you need to upload

one is the installer which is usually game.whatever.php - this goes into your admincp folder, the .swf fle which is uploaded to your games folder and the .gif files which are uploaded to the images/arcade folder.

Once that's done you need to run the installer by going to the relevant url http://yoursite.com/your_forum/admincp/game.whatever.php

You'll then get a message saying whether or not it's been installed - delete the game.whatever.php file from the admincp folder and you're ready to go.

Yep - I installed it on 3.0.6 (www.simtechonline.com) an dit works great. My only glitch is that the 'quick menu' is always in view when the arcade page is viewed on older versons on IE, like Internet Explorer 5.5. On the latest version of IE it works perfectly.

Delete such posts on finding them and then rebuild post counts, this should remove their access til they post sensibly.

Alternatively, create a new usergroup that is a mirror of your default one, except without arcade permissions. Warn people that if they are caught effectively spamming their post count up to gain access to the arcade, they will be moved into this group for a period of time.

It's a hell of a lot cheaper than that for the yearly plan, it works out at less than $7 a month that way.

It is well worth the money in my opinion though, theres normally new games released every single day and there's some great new hacks in the pipeline too.

The owner of that site is responsible for a hell of a lot of the hacks which people have in the first place, thanks to his generosity of releasing them on here or v3arcade.com (before it went offline). He also comes in very handy if any problems aise as he offers superb support and will even go so far as doing custom hacks for people if they are possible and if they are asked for.

bitg from the forums has an FTP server where he's hosted a lot of games, here: ftp://63.193.147.196/

He seems to have removed banned games from the server. Although I very much doubt that most of these games are "copyright free" or authorised for use on sites.

So while games are available there, you'll need to check with the authors if you're allowed to use any of their titles on your site.

I was simply referring to the legality of it. Even with GPL code you can charge to recoup losses. Another example would be selling a hat for $2,000. The hat just happens to come with Super Bowl tickets as a free gift. All ways to skirt the law. Is it morally wrong? Damn right it is. I think this thread is getting offtrack tho. LOL

After playing one of the games in IE & Netscape 7.1, it properly redirects me to the arcade.php page.

With Firefox 1.0, the URL itself points to /forum/arcade.php but it says "501Method Not Implemented" in the title bar and the page says:

I reinstalled Firefox and got the same error.

I do use a Mod Rewrite that allows any page my site to be accessed byeither the .html or .php extension. However, I haven't made anyadjustments to the arcade files or templates, so I'm not even sure whythe /forum/arcade.php page would be trying to point to my mainindex.html page when that isnt' even a part of the forum. Plus,it works with all the other browser I've tried and I've had no problemsusing Firefox throughout the rest of the site while access the ModRewrite URLs.

If I need to modify the code, please let me know where the code for the redirect is after a game ends.

Magical1, I'd love to know what work you've actually done to make you think that you can actually sell it on as an "improved" version of v3arcade.. From the sound of it, you've basically installed addons from other sources, slapped it all together for a new installation and are trying to pass it off as your own work.

Well I am quite gutted. I just bought a VBulletin licence yesterday - With one of the main intentions to have the VB3Arcade as a major feature on the site! As you can imagine, it's pretty disappointing to see that the game producers have decided to close the site, along with the game add-on packs. :disappointed:

Just wondering if anyone has additional game add-ons somewhere on their site, or able to give me access to them. (Note not the actual game installation package, as I know we want to keep that as requring a licence to download).

I agree John - only issue I have is that by closing one of the places people can get games for free you drive more money into the pockets of those charging for them.

1)news scroll
2)top 5 champs/kings with 5 latest/random/installed games mods etc

At the moment everything is working fine and stable, the only problem is, that that page (arcade.php) loads up with all the games on 1 page, when i add the a-z mod, it spreads out , but the scores dont save.

If someone reliable (no cowboys , no offence) can have a look at it for me it would be a great help, I dont mind donating or paying for your time, long as it works, I would rather someone have a look at it that knows what they are doing then make a mess of it myself.

i have used a fresh copy of the arcade and tried different things, but the problem just stays the same.

Not saying I agree in any way, but how are some others (I won't mention v3arcade.net) much different than the "mysterious" site you are accusing? The hacks in question are free, they do not sell John's arcade as their own, and as for the games, they stop coding certain games after it is known the author does not want it done... unless you have proof otherwise.

That table doesn't exist in my vbulletin database so I presume it relates to another hack you've installed.

Try finding out which one and then add the table manually.

Nevermind. I edited those files again (those that were replaced during the upgrade) and it's working file now.

I upgraded to version 3.0.7 and had to reinstall the arcade. I have double and triple checked all the modifications but there is how the arcade info shows on the poster's area.

I tried to redo the arcade install_arcade.php but I got this db error. Could this be what is causing this poster/awards area to be messed up? I have also completed a complete reinstall of the vb forum and then installed the arcade. I recieved the same error in db during the install_arcade.php.... it adds the templates but when I click to apply database modifications I get this error:

Is there a way to uninstall the database changes this hack has made? As the original v3arcade.com has shut down, and v3arcadegames.com charges a monthly rate for downloading new games, I can't see using this hack anymore.

i have this issue also. it occured when using 3.0.3 and then resolved itself when i upgraded vbulletin to 3.0.5 and now it has come back with 3.0.7. i dont know why. all the file edits were done in wordpad because i had some issues with dreamweaver making changes to the files. *frustrated*

Thanks for suggesting Crimson Editor, i downloaded it and noticed i had put a '}' in the wrong place. Thanks very much :) the colour coding of the code in Crimson Editor helped alot. No more notepad / wordpad for me :) lol.

I suggest those who are having the same problem as me try this out also, because it really can be as simple as a misplaced / missing '}'.

You do not have to go far to find games. I found around 1,000 games by looking through all of the pages of this thread.

Okay I have figured out the problem, apparently my server manager has upgraded our server to php 4.3.10 and has not yet upgraded Zend Optimizer. Everything should work once its upgraded.

Just find $perpage = in Arcade.php and add the number of games per page after that

Excellent hack. My members love it.

The Space Invaders game is buggy though. The last 3-4 times I've played it, it just quit out on me for no reason at all. I had lots of lives, and I didn't get shot, but it ended like I just lost my last life.

It really pisses me off too. Cause one of our members has totally kicked my ass on nearly all the games, and I need to retake my high score at Space Invaders, but it the game crashes every time I try! grrrr.

The default is 10 per page if I remember correctly, did you purposely set it to display all or did it happen by accident after applying a hack?

The line that controls the games per page as mentioned in a previous post is:

$perpage = 10;

Whatever that is set to is how many you should see unless something is wrong.

You should maybe consider the categories mod too for so many games to help categorise them better, this will also help split them up.

Adding the number 10 results in errors and yes, my arcade has hacks installed. I have the resize hack, the arcade pass hack, random game on forum hack and I think thats it but I am not sure..

The last time I tried adding the categorie hack my arcade stopped submitting scores. I ended up wiping it clean and doing a whole new install...

A user challenged me to a game of Tetris. Ok, I accepted it---isn't he supposed to receive a PM saying that I accepted it and the game can start? The game starts for me, but not for him, therefore no Challenge "records" are kept.

EDIT: Nevermind... I found out that if you navigate away from the game during the challenge, it is somehow "cancelled". Any idea how to make it so when you navigate away you automatically get a "0"?

I have installed v3 arcade. As you can see in the picture, only the menu bar is showing.

I have gone through the instructions and hacks several times. I found no errors.

I have even reloaded my backup files and did the hacks again several times.

But no matter what I do, I only get the nav or menu bar for the arcade.
