just like barbarian, im having user permissions problems. Every time i go to arcade.php, it says:

I've just installed the mod and everything is working except for some reason it wont log the high scores. The games lock up as soon as they're over when it says it's sending the high score.

You could do as I am doing and create an arcade membership group and only assign it as a secondary group to those members who should get it.

Go to AdminCP - Usergroup Manager.

Choose a Usergroup to deny Arcade Access.

Edit.

Scroll down to the bit that is about Arcade Permissions.

Choose 'No' for each option you wish to deny that Usergroup access to.

Hit Submit.

Actually Im having a similar problem. My regular users arent able to access the arcade. Any way of resolving this?

I upgraded to the latest version of vBarcade and I need to remove the tables used in the vB2 version.
I renamed them to
delete_arcadeconfig
delete_arcadegames
delete_arcadescoregroups
delete_arcadescores
delete_arcadetopscores

but I get the occasional database error:

Looking at line 67 it seems associated with Petz that I installed yesterday, but this error has only showed up with arcade, so I presume it is an error with that.

let's say that i decide to do this upgrade, what will happen the next time i upgrade vbulletin? i spoke to someone running this very same hack on his board and he recommended that i install this hack on every other template except the main 3.0.0 so that there's no problem when i upgrade. is there any truth to this? and is this recommended?

ok, i updated all the files and i'm ready to start updating the postbit and the navbar sections on each of my templates (i have 5 in total, not counting the 3.0.0). well, i found everything i needed to find on the postbit section, but when i went to the navbar, i couldn't find this line (i'm using the classic vbulletin template (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111141) with different color variations on each of the 5 templates):

*edit* Ah. When you say 'template' you mean 'style', and when you say 'classic vbulletin template' you mean 'vBulletin 3 Classic Style'.

The answer to the second question is 'put the code into the navbar template where you want the Arcade link to appear'...but with that style it's up to you where it goes. I think I put mine in the quick links or one of those other dropdown menus.

I spose that would be one way of doing it.

Whenever I upgrade, I do the whole thing from scratch...rehacking all the files and starting on fresh styles.

Have you got more than one style installed?

If yes, try another style as it might be that the templates have only gone onto one style and not all of them. If this is the case then make your other styles child styles of the style with the arcade templates in.

I was one of the ppl, who are saying in public that there is no support for this hack, and start a prive talk with john in the V3Arcade Prive Messages, that it ended unfortunately in "banning" my account by John(i think so, as i cant login there 2 days now!).

I also want to say, that i dont write the following, so i can unban my account there, as i own an Internet Cafe here in Greece, and for me its very simple to login from different ip and see the site.

I started yesterday, reading all the posts of this thread, and managed to see everyone till page 120.

I saw, many ppl be like me, with brighter example someone called "Nikodemeus" but i realised something after i managed to go to page 120.

This thread, last updated by john(i mean the first one), late of August and till page 120, i saw him reply to many many posts...As i saw, the most posts were said the same time, all over again...To give u undestand what i am saying, i was also trying to install last nights(and everything went smoothly) and i was having some "questions" about the hack but as i was reading, all of my questions..where answered!

The installation guide is very clear, and the answers of John are also, very helpfull..

I agree, if i werent saw this thread(i mean all the pages as i saw yesterday) i maybe were like Nikodemeus or others, who are saying that John is not supporting the thread.

A good solution, could be a good Q&A with all the common questions(like I use PostBit Legacy but i cant see the info in my users posts and all that(i know the answer, i just said an example!), so ppl who dont want to search, see the answers there.

As i see it now, john yes agreed to reply to the thread, but he is having other jobs as well....so its up to him..Also he said he is working in Arcade Pro...And i believe him so...My only argument there, was to just say a date that he will release it, so ppl who are not installing this hack, dont wait and procceed with the install(as i was like that!).

Anyway, i repeat i dont do this post, to lick John or something like that...I can go to V3Arcade easily(although i prefer to be unbanned) but i just felt i had to post the above.

I have v3.0.0 and I just put in a new default style for the board. But when I did this http://www.mc2g.net/personal/underavatar.jpg came out under everyones avatar, and its misaligned too. Is there anyway I can remove that?

He's running (vBulletin 3.0.1) I would like to update him, but the previous Webmaster hacked his poor site to death. I've managed to clean allot of it up, but I really don't want to update him and have to reinstall all those hacks.

UPDATE:
I believe my problem is in my tables, it seems that each game has a certain number. I believe that when I added the new games, the original game tables where damaged/overwritten. Sound possible?

Also, is there an easy way to delete games? "Nevermind, I found the UNINSTALL MOD on the website"

I have reinstalled a few games, some are starting to work, other are not yet.

All the games work now, what I did was make a GAMES foldes in the /FORUMS area, now all 77 games work just fine.

Heres exactly what I see, and as far as I know, Ive followed the instructions on how to install the arcade on a different style.

First I modified the install_arcade.php file by doing this: (The ID of the new style is 10)

if there is no userid there's no highscore id to set. The problem is unregistered users playing your games.

I don't see how that is happening. You have to be registered to play in the arcade and it prompts you to log-in or register if you try. I posted the "unregistered" one that was sent to me, but it seems like it is going right down the list of users in no particular order.

Can I get some help on this, please?

I upgraded to the latest version of vBarcade and I need to remove the tables used in the vB2 version.
I renamed them to

delete_arcadegames
delete_arcadescoregroups

Some people are having the problem that the highscores aren't updated on their forums. After some candlelight debugging via email I found the fix for that:

In Arcade.php
Find:

You could probably still use the Arcade Pass hack...just set the cost per game to 0 and the jackpots should still function.

Some people might find this file useful. Its an XML file with all of the Arcade templates in it, you just append it to existing Style template and it will add the arcade template, useful if you've got lots of forum styles like mine!

I created a new usergroup. I allow users in that usergroup to view the arcade but disallow them to play or send Private Messages. However, they can still challenge other users in the arcade.

Is there a way to prevent them from having the capability to challenge other users? I don't want them to challenge other users because first of all they can't read their private messages (telling them about the arcade challenge) anyway. Second, when they challenge somone a private message is sent to that person and I don't want that. This can cause a flood of unwanted private messages about arcade challenge.

Well I noticed it and found the problem. There are a few games that are giving this error. I cannot tell you why but here is how to find them. Click on all the games in your Gamesettings. If the game does not allow you to edit it, then it is part of the problem. Here are games I found and removed from my site (fixed problem)

This is a bug in the arcade hack. If the "shortname" of the game in the database starts with a number (ex:1,2,3,4,5,etc...) you will get that error. There is nothing wrong with the game itself.

Temp Solution..... use phpMyAdmin and change the number (1,2,3,etc..) to (one,two,three,etc...) and the error will go away.

I have VBulletin 3.0.3 (fresh install) and I have just installed v3arcade. Everything works fine apart from a small error in IE which shows in the bottom left done but with errors on page.

I had a similar problem not long ago and upon checking the Usergroup permissions, I noticed that no body had access to use the Arcade. It could be a different problem for you but worth a look anyway. :)

Yes Rick it can be. Once you install the hack you will see permissions for each individual usergroup and that is where you set the permissions...

OMG OMG, how can so many get this to work and not me :)

I can play the game, i get NO error but the high score wont save, i have tryed reinstall it 6 times now, and everytime it is the same NO save of the highscore.

Is it possible to only keep the top 10 or 20 scores for games? Some of my games already have 15 pages of scores and its only the 3rd day :P I'm guessing its necessary to keep all scores to keep the "Personal Best" scores in place...?

I tryed to make a fresh install of the forum and then installed Arcade, i got no problem there, saves the game fine, i then reinstalled it again on the other location, and still not working there ?

I seem to have ran into a major problem. As I was adding the new phrases I got up to the last one for Control Panel Stop Message and when I clicked save it logged me out (without confirming it created the new phrase), now I am constantly being logged out, I literally cant stay logged in for more than 5 seconds. modcp doesnt stay logged in either.

I just installed v3Arcade, and I also have the NNTP/Newsgroups hack installed.

When I view the Newsgroup forum, it shows that every non-forum user (Guest) is the champion of all of the games (see attached).

Always pays to read up folks. You nailed it on the head. I usually use Notepad, but control+F in dreamweaver is the fastest way for me to edit my docs clearly.

Actually Wordpad is better than Notepad for this. There is a find feature in Wordpad. I believe its Edit > Find or the shortcut key CTRL+F

I installed this wonderful extension, but ran into a permission problem. I double checked the usergroups for the forums and ids and checked all to enable, and I still get denied permission.

Edit: Okay I read the FAQ, but I still don't know HOW to edit the permissions in init.php. Can someone point it out to me how to add the usergroup ids? Is it 1,11,12 (for 3 usergroups)?

When I update the game description from the admin cp - I am no longer allowed to make changes to the game settings.

Also - on the game settings page, I get code errors like this for the games I HAVE modified the description for:

The games still work - but to make any adjustments to the settings or change the description - I have to do it directly in the DB. Once I found the bug - I then edited game descriptions using ONLY phpMyAdmin - and NOT using the game settings page. The same results happened - unable to edit the game on the game settings page and similar coding errors.

You must change the settings for the usergroups you will find a new option for each Usergroup "Can access the Arcade" or something like that. This must be activated :)

I tried to read through alot of the posts here, but 194 pages is a bit excessive.

I just installed this on vb3.0.3 tonight. Everything sems to be working well, although I'm not seeing any arcade info showing up with the member info in the postbit. If I go to the user's profile, their awards are shown there, but there's shown in that user's details when the post a message to any forum.

I went back to double check my edits, and things look fine there. Any ideas what's going on?

Forgive me if this has been addressed, I did a few searches and came up with nothing, and don't really have the time to skim through nearly 200 pages of replies...

Anyway, I've had the arcade working wonderfully on my forums for about a month now, well, this morning out of nowhere noone can get into the arcade. In the general settings ALL settings are saved now to 'no', and when I try to change them to say 'yes', I'm told the settings are saved successfully, yet when it reloads, everything is saved to 'no'..

Can someone help me with this problem?

it's actually in arcadeupdate.php. i was having the same problem with the error messages.....

Hmm i've got a problem, sorry I can't be bothered to read through 30 pages to see if it's been posted before, but I think it's a simple fix (I hope heh)

I overwrote all my existing Vbulletin files with a new set, but..
since i've done that and redone the arcade file mods, when I goto the arcade screen, it doesn't list the games
All I get is the "Arcade home / Your settings / Your statistics / Challenges"
The games DO show up in the admin panel though..

Anyone have any ideas?

Here's an FYI I couldn't find in here yesterday.

If you cannot get scores to post and already have looked through the thread, check your /includes/config.php file and ensure that the setting for persistant database connection is set to off.

I changed my setting to on, no scores would post. When I set it back to off, problem solved.

I hear mention of "jackpots" being directly deposited to Ucash, if you have the Ushop/Ucash hack installed also. (I'm running both, flawlessly, but they don't "interact" point wise.

Can someone please direct me where I can find out about having member's winnings in the arcade convert into points for the Ucash/Ushop hack? You can purchase an "arcade pass" which allows you to enter the arcade, but I can't see a method of rewarding game winners with "cash" that they can use to purchase "things" in the UTT Store.

I've searched all relevant threads and boards, to no avail.

Hi John,

you Hack is great, I tried it out on other sites, but on my vB it doesen't work..

When I want to run the install-file, I get an error in line 706 and I'm sure that I did my job correct.

You have to know I use the german pack, because I'm from Germany (muahaha).

I tried to use the english install-file and that ran, but the next problem was:

When I click on "Spielhalle" (to start this hack), it comes a sql-error:

But the table "gamesessions" exists in my sql :D - I think its not possible to install with the english file.

I'm very new to hacking and I can't seem to complete the install. Editing php's is fine but when I get into editing the template my navbar doesn't have the:

Is this caused by a template I just recently installed. If so how do I fix this?

I'd just like to say to those having problems.

If you get an error, let's say in your profile.php, take another unedited copy of profile.php and startover.
The install instructions are very good!!! Every problem I had was my fault.

I presume you're all using the Dreamweaver text editor?

The solution is, don't! ;)

Dreamweaver appears to automatically edit (and screw up) this line in functions.php (1755):
$debughtml .= " (<a href=\"" . htmlspecialchars_uni(SCRIPTPATH) . iif(strpos(SCRIPTPATH, '?') === false, '?', '&amp;') . "tempusage=1\">Template Usage</a>) (<a href=\"" .

Use a different text editor to make the change to functions.php, and you won't have this problem. :)

This was the problem I had with functions.php, and when I used wordpad all was well.

For anyone that gets the no permission error and you've already set your permissions in admincp, you might be having the same problem I had in the past. If you are using an editor such as Dreamweaver to edit your files, this is most likely the problem. Redo the modifications to your global.php file using notepad to edit it and this should fix it...well at least it fixed mine and it was definitely the global.php.

Yeah, I had a similar problem but after checking my edits on the global.php I had found my mistake.

I didnt put the edit after the "}". I guess I was too quick to re-install I was messy.

remove the file edits by going backwards through the install instructions,
upload the installer and run the uninstall script from there or drop the tables containing the word games from the db and delete the arcade.php from your forums directory, the arcade directory from your images directory, the games directory and any xxx.game.php that you have in your acp directory along with any other files called with arcade in the title.

The same happend to me. But i had to go over and over the file. And it was me who had done something wrong. Try to go over the file onsce ore twise more. ;)

What mistake have you made?
The only problem with going over the file again and again is that the board have to be closed while I'm doing this (can't have a testboard because of the license), also the Arcade mod is not exactly a small mod to install ;)

"games SET highscorerid=," this is your problem.

If your allowing guests to play, it cannot register a highscorerid because they have no id. You can either disallow visitors from playing, or, you can place an id check prior to the score write, to fix that.

If their not logged in, they shouldnt be able to play anyway. Thats your best bet.

I used the upgrade.php to upgrade, if you just patch up the init.php, remember to make the arcade changes to it first, or all kinda strange things start happening :)

no. that is pirating. you will have to look up what is defined as fair use. anything web made like flash games etc fall under this catagory. same goes with private servers/emulators for games.

the law is kinda iffy on some things anbd some things are protected under the DMCA, but flash games like mini clips and so on fall under fair use.

and any creator of such items if they were to sue you would lose. look at the sony case when they lost against the first emulator creator

I'm having the permission view problem. I updates I do to activate the aracde don't work, they stay the same but it says that it saved. I check all the posts about the global.php and functions_showthread.php but they are both fine. I copied the database and the files from a diff host b/c I moved. On the other host everything works fine.
