Nicely done. My users seem to really like it.

One minor issue I'm noticing that I've been unable to correct. Since installing it, there's now a huge white space between the Blog Entries and the number of blogs. Before installation that wasn't the case and I'll illustrate it below with two screen shots combined. The top, installed with the space. Below that, uninstalled and no space as shown on my test forum for the same user. Any ideas what's causing that? Appears to be CSS related since the code is similar but that's a guess.

Actually, I now see you can turn that off in the admin panel. Wasn't real crazy about that stat so it's now gone and of course that resolved the issue.

I had to reinstall the thanks system but before I did I used phpmyadmin to make a backup of the vbpost_thanks table. Unfortunately on restoring this the thanks aren't reflected on the site.

Have I missed something?

You did not have to remove all you needed to do was to over right the older files best to start from new this way you will have no more problems

I am using ForceHSS' version of the hack and I have been unable to find any information regarding how to make the box where it says people have thanked for this useful post look like the attached image.

I am using a theme that takes advantage of postbit legacy.

I'm wracking my brains trying to figure out how to make this work after moving parts of my vB4 suite to sub-domains (the forums and the blogs).

When we click on Thanks, nothing happens except for the "Thanks" bit disappearing. When the thread is re-loaded, nothing has changed, either.

When we middle-click or otherwise open the "Thanks" in a new Tab/Window, it works fine.

I tried making a post_thanks.php file in my forums sub-directory that has the same stuff most everything else in that directory has:<?php

You said you moved parts to your sub as I said above to reinstall after removing might fix the problem as some error might of happened after the move. But it is very hard to see without site links and screenshots so can only go by what you say

...because it's how I have my forum set up...? O.o

You do realize that vBulletin 4.1+ allows for subdomains to separate blogs, forums, and CMS, yeah?





ANYways, back to the issue.

I altered the post_thanks.js to have the following function changed:

That new post_thanks.php that I put up in my forums stub directory, I put that back in, and THEN I prefixed the "sUrl" in each of the three functions with PATHS.forum+'/'. (Full code will follow at the end of this post.)

Thanks is now working just fine.

Yep, that was the entire message. It was on the screen right where the thanks normally appears. I do wonder if it was an early symptom of a db crash we experienced about an hour later (whole tables went missing), and we had to restore a backup.

That has nothing to do with this plugin you must have another plugin that is along the same lines as this one as none of then words or php coding is in any of these files like that

Example: Thanks 9 Thanked 345 Times in 178 Posts

Google now has my top key words as these from this mod because every post contains them. Is there a way to hide the text output from Google spiders added by this mod in the postbit?

I am trying to simply the like display with a simple post counter beside the Like button. You press the Like button, the counter increments, the Like button is no longer clickable, and hopefully no text/imgs shift at all or too much. Is that possible w/o having to refresh the page?

I did manage to set it up (using vb 4.2.0) like this site with the horizontal blue bar. Works fine, except that relative and absolute settings are being a pain in postbit_legacy template and postbody section... mainly that is pushes the sig and last edited line up too much once there is a Like - I can set margin-bottom:60px or so on postbody, but does not look right with no sig or last edited line.

See this post, although if you only want the terms to be changed to like instead of Thanks just change the phrases as described at the top of the post. If you want the whole style to be changed so it looks like the screen shot then follow all the instructions :

version number if erelavent,, it's about what's in the file. And that it works how it was intended..

At least not in this thread. I have however seen questions that were so badly mangled in English that I have suggested the author post it in their native language. I am attempting a fresh install on v4.2.0. patch 2

I downloaded the version in ForceHSS signature. Sorry, the installation instructions are unclear to me. I uploaded the upload folder to my forum root folder. No problem

Step 2 says to Import product-post_thanks.xml into PRODUCTS. I have no folder entitled "PRODUCTS". Do I simply add a "PRODUCTS" folder to my root?

Step 3 says Edit settings in the Admin CP. (Integration settings are in the Groan Hack). I don't have a "Groan Hack" so what settings in the Admin CP do I need to be concerned with?

Put it back the way it was and try again making sure it also works for your vb version

OK, did it. But, check out the screen shot I provided. If you look closely you'll see the "5" at the end of the Thanked line. The "5" belongs to the line underneath (Blog Entries).

I used the code you have above, and that moved the blog entry number one space beneath the "Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post" and it is now next to "Groan: 1".

Is there any way to split up Thanks and Thanked into two separate elements so that I can display them in two boxes in my legacy postbit. There's too much text and the wrapping looks messy. I can do the boxes, I don't know how to get the elements.

I try to use this on vB 4.2 with a custom design.
But since i activated this plugin, the page is a mix of my custom design and the default vB 4 Design. For example the header and the userprofile (classic postbit) are from my design, and most of the rest (like the background) from the default template.
I try this with both updates for vb 4.2 but it isn't working.

And the plugin also replace my language - he set it to the default value (english).
Whats wrong here?

Hi guys,

I'm having an issue where after a user thanks a certain post and refreshes the page, the Thank you button still persists on that same post even though the thanks has been recorded.

Which file would I have to track this down to?

Could it be because I'm using a CSS class to make the thank you button rather than just a direct img src tag?

Most likely its your edit. You should not have to refresh the page. Put it back to default and make sure it works as it should, so you can track the issue down.

Thank you Hippy. Would it be the edit in the post_thanks_button template itself? I am a little lost but it looks like maybe the ID of the specific thank you button that needs to be removed is not being added properly?

I have tried putting the default post_thanks_button template back in and the issue still seems to persist. Is there any way I could have you take a look at the site or send you some templates? I would be willing to compensate you for your time.

EDIT: In response to your reply -- I don't have to refresh the page to see the thank you register but when I do refresh the page, the thank you button shows up again on the same post even though it is showing that I already thanked that post.

First I would like to thank everyone who is keeping this mod alive. For me this is one of the best mods! I am currently running a phpbb forum http://fragnet.ca but now I want to switch to VB 4.2 http://quebec-gamer.ca (my test/dev board).

I've followed the instructions and successfully installed this mod but I am having a display issue with my custom profile fields :

Secondly I would like to use two different images for the thumbs up icon. The height of the two new images are 18px so it?s being cut off at the top and the bottom :

I have just upgraded my 3.8 forum with 7.7 post thank you hack to the 4.2 suite. I disabled the hack before upgrading to 4.2 which I understand is what I am meant to do. But now I'm unsure of what I am actually meant to install to upgrade the hack to be compatible with 4.2 and with this thread being 200 posts long I am finding it all hard to follow...

Do I upgrade with the original v7.82 or do I use one of the ones by Hippy or ForceHSS linked in the staff edit above? or are none of these compatible for 4.2?

Either in the staff edit will work for 4.2.0. It depends what one you want as you see if you click on both links you will see we have different versions with different options in each so it depends what you want

Don't remove it just overwrite the files with a different version as long as it is the same thanks program same goes with the php files

Ironically, I would like to hit thanks and save spamming the thread but I can't do that so thanks, your suggestion works great and it was very easy to import past thanks. Question? I was trying to use the dbtech post thanks lite. I never could get it installed correctly then when Tech support attempted to install it I started to get a database error and currently the mod has had to been disabled to get my forum back up.

I have tracked the issue down to being an issue with Digital Point ad system addon that I downloaded from here. If you select the option to show ad after last post, no thanks can be displayed on screen which is why I had the issue with no thanks for original/first post..

I am hoping that the permission issue is also somehow related.

Any way to send users an alert/notification (same as when given reputation feature is used)? This shows up in usercp.php. I have the setting Set how many reputation a user should get if he gets thanked. Set to '0' to disable. set to '1' as well if that matters.

I am using 4.2.0 and everything else seems fine otherwise.

EDIT: I have the mod Display Unread Posts (and Reputation Comments in 4.1) installed, Enable New Reputation Comments Notification in 'User Reputation Options' set to 'yes' as well.

Yes. You're using an updated version of PHP. Ask your host how to suppress deprecated error messages. If you're hosting is using PHP 5.4.x though you'll need to fix some vBulletin files.

This is not a problem with this add-on. It's a vBulletin issue.

we love this mod and I already changed it.

we have a star ranking for the amount of thanks you got, both on profile page and posbits. if there's a demand, I'd code an addon for that requiring this mod of course and giving credits. oh, and it's linked to a user spcific "recent thanks received for" page which is also taking into account which posts a user viewing the page could see.

but there is one thing really annoying me: when I thank somebody, it counts as a post! please change that

This is an excellent idea, I really like it. I could definitely use some help installing it on my 4.2 site if anyone is willing. I tried, but I got lost. I'm an expert at losing myself.

One is obligated to read a mod's entire thread before installing it, and after you've done that you should know as much about it as we do. Or at least the last several pages anyway. That's especially important for this mod because the original version doesn't work at all.

is all up to date

and forcehss also has his version
Never tested it but I am sure it's close because alot use it as well..

I install it on most sites I work on and there is nothing that (spambots or hackers) can use or have used as a breeding ground .. Other wise it would be posted and pulled

I worked hard keeping this mod alive along with everyone I mentioned in my post
