It's obvious you haven't bothered to look at RedRyder's explanation of how to remove that a number of times in this thread. It doesn't get easier or simpler. Look it up. Just go back a page or 2 and you'll find it. :rolleyes:

No, YOU don't know. I wish people would quit asking the same questions over and over without even the slightest research. The answer to your question has been answered several times by the developer and even more by other members. It's a very simple operation, but if you can't take the time to even read the last few days of posts in this thread, then you deserve what you got.

I read the < removed > post about how to remove it. I don't understand it completely, and I'm afraid to start modifying things unless its a little more clear to me. I spent hours researching it and decided I'd like some help, possibly more clear instructions. I'm new to this and trying to learn. < removed >

I'll try this differently. I found this regarding removing the "Remove Ads" link:

1. Removing this must be done manually now. Look for <phrase 1="$vboptions[bburl]">$vbphrase[adintegrate_remove_ads]</phrase> in the applicable template and just delete it.

Where exactly do I "Look for" that code? I'd like more clear and detailed instructions on what to click on and how to do this.

I'll wait for someone helpful and knowledgeable to chime in and help me out.

I needed the same thing. Here is what I did. Go to the language and phrase manager. Find the adintegrate_remove_ads. Mine was on the second page of choices. Click the 'edit' button next to it. Then simply put a blank space in the text box with your space bar, and save. That simple. I just did it and it worked for me. Removed it completely. Hope that helps. :)

Now I just need to find out how to get my ad banner to show. I am still just getting the little white box with the colored shapes in it. The banner wont appear. I have tried every combination of my image path I can think of. Even the http://mysite.org/forum/images/banner/imagename.jpg path to no avail. Try this:

It's a conflict with the links and downloads manager modification. I don't know if the problem is with his modification or mine, but he did say he would solve the conflict in his next release.

I'm sure there's an incredibly simple fix for this, as I've been using vB Ad Management 4 for a while now without any problems.

We downloaded a new Christmas style, so we could appear festive and give our forum a new look for a couple of weeks.

The problem is, the ads that appeared on our old style no longer appear on our new style! It's almost as if the new style hasn't been told about vB Ad Management 4.

We then downloaded and installed the latest version of vB Ad Management 4, which still works fine in our old style, but we just can't seem to get it working with the new Christmas style.

I'm sure there's something we've forgotten to do when we installed the new style, but can't work out what it is.

Can anyone help???

I'm still getting a white menu for all the vbadmgt options, nothing at all.

Can somebody please help, have anybody out there managed to get over this?

If you're using manual template edits and the Xmas style is not set to inherit changes from parent styles then you will need to make the template edits in that style as well.

I do think that. :) There's a few reasons why I made the change.

1) It is more flexible this way. Before it was a case of "Remove advertisements" link on or off. Now it can be customised to suit any member of the forum on any page, in any ad location, with any text and any link location.

2) It is more efficient this way. Before, there were two options: Link and link text. When displaying this, the code checked both options on every page load to see what to do. Now it checks nothing at all, because it's a phrase. It's not much of course, but it all helps.

3) It points to register.php on the basis that a) It's a page that I know every forum will have, so I can be sure it will go somewhere and b) by far the most common use of advertisements is to display them to guests, encouraging them to register so they won't see advertisements and can join in with the forum.

4) There is almost no difference other than the text and link must be changed with the phrase manager instead of the global settings. Deleting it from all the templates entirely can also be done all at once using the template search and replace feature.

Hope that explains why I decided to make the change. I put a lot of thought into how the product is made, believe it or not. ;)

One problem I'm seeing with 4.02 is that the right hand column used to sit below the header advert, now it sits to the right of it.

The method for adding a column was changed in this version to speed it up slightly. Open up global_start.php.

I've tried to search for the answer to this but i havent really found what I'm looking for, only a way to completely remove the link instead of modifying where it points.

right now when you click on the "remove ads" link it directs you to register.php, how do i change it to direct to payments.php? the way my site is set, buying a premium subscription removes the ads, not simply registering.

Wow - I'm having a complete nightmare trying to get things working properly, and wondered if anyone could help me - because I'm at the end of my know-how!

As I mentioned in a previous post, we tried to install a custom style to our forum in order to get things looking a bit more 'Christmasy', but where everything was working great before, when we installed the new style, vB Ad Management wouldn't show when we selected the new style, although it worked OK when we switched back to the original style.

In order to overcome this problem, we tried completely deleting vB Ad Management and the custom style, and starting from scratch.

We re-installed the new style, and told it the parent style was the one that worked already, so no problems there.

We then installed vB Ad Management again from scratch.

We now have two problems...

1. vB Ad Management STILL doesn't show in the new style!

2. We have four banner ads that should show on our header, and we've got it set to rotate to a new ad after ten seconds, but after ten seconds, instead of a new ad appearing, the active banner just disappears and nothing replaces it.

I've got a very basic understanding of vBulletin, so if you are able to offer me any help, instructions in 'idiot' language would be much appreciated.

@xcesiv - search for the Phrase and remove the Text. There is no ACP Option to stop it for Usergroups.

@RedTyger - as you can see nobody is happy with this Solution. ;)
Please give us a ACP Function to stop this Link and Ads for certain Usergroups. Then it makes Sense. I read your last Description about this but i am still not understand the sense of your Descision and this Link if is not customisable.

The example was just that, an example. You shouldn't use it. Try this code instead, I've made the banners into links, just replace http://www.example.com with where you want them to go.

I'm waiting for other reports at the moment to confirm it's a widespread bug. That nobody else has reported it yet makes me wonder if it is a vBSEO bug or specific to your forum somehow. I haven't forgotten you. :)

It's not so simpe, i try. The thing is i have a RL big forum: http://forum.tibia.pl And it uses memceche (i'm turning this in config.php file of vB). This thing is caching all querys in RAM. Normally query is readed directly from Database.

When i'm turning Ad Managment, the whole forum stops, becouse whole database locks itself.

It's not so simpe, i try. The thing is i have a RL big forum: http://forum.tibia.pl And it uses memceche (i'm turning this in config.php file of vB). This thing is caching all querys in RAM. Normally query is readed directly from Database.

When i'm turning Ad Managment, the whole forum stops, becouse whole database locks itself.

It's not a case of all pages appearing blank is it? Otherwise, I just need the full text of the error. I have no idea if it causes memcaching problems as I don't have any way of testing it, but I can at least see if it is an error with the query itself.

Example, In my forum I have a xxx zone. I want xxx advertisement on xxx forums, and normal advertisement on the other forums.
1) You can use template conditionals, there's a bit about what they are and how they work here (http://redtyger.co.uk/manual.php?product=vB+Ad+Management#conditionals). In your case, your adcode would look like this:

HI, today I installed this software which worked out fine but I got an error when activating a advertisement. The board works fine when this option is on "NO" in the header & navbar section.

Enable navbar advertisements on your forum?
Choose Yes to enable navbar advertisements on your forum.

But setting it to yes gives me the following warnings upon entering the board:

I left mine with the default text but changed the destination page. The destination page explains that Sponsors dont see any adverts etc...

Same here. 4.02 was my first version to be installed on my forum and I have the same experience: Everything works fine except the Postbit advertisement on the first page of a thread - if there are multiple pages it's ok from the second page up to the end.

Just edit the phrase and remove the "remove advertisement" text. It seems to replace itself if you try to remove it as a whole.

Right now our forums, like most I suspect, don't show for registered users. That's OK. However, some registered users, like me, want to see the ads!

I don't know if that really works, but it certainly is broken code. vBulletin is valid XHTML Transitional. Nothing a hack or style does should break that. The code you posted above does.

If you want 2 different ads to fall in-line vertically, the easiest code to use is this in the ad code block (you don't need to edit the templates):

[second ad code]

If you want 2 different ads to appear in-line horizontally, use this code:

[first ad code]&nbsp;[second ad code]

If you use rotating ads and still want 2 ads to show at once, place your separator (the default separator is the vertical bar "|") between the sets of double ads - each set consists of a [first ad code] and [second ad code]. It might appear like this for a vertical ad:

[second ad code]|
[first ad code]
<br />
[second ad code]

That would produce 3 different sets of ads as long as the ad code you used was different for each ad. That doesn't mean you have to have 6 different ads (or however many repeats you make). If centering the ads are an issue for you, the easiest solution for that is with this code used for each of the examples above:

All of this code depends a great deal on the code you are supplied by your advertiser. That code may already contain centering or table/div structure. My experience with most advertisers though, is they don't really care if their code is valid and they don't really care about how it affects your users, as long as it gives them an advertisement that someone will click on. I often times find myself having to fix the rendering code of the advertisement or asking the advertiser to do something about the code script that makes page loads slow to a crawl. But of course, that doesn't have anything to do with this particular discussion.

DON'T post "iffy" code, post code you are sure will work. People who know nothing about code will copy your code and use it, then come back here with more problems than they started out with.

Table code, if done properly, requires you to use at least:

All that code adds weight to the page and also gives search engine spiders a lot more to wade through to get to your content. Keeping it simple, while still adhering to valid code standards, lets you reduce the code to:

<div>data here</div>

However, you can't just put DIVs willy-nilly anywhere you want. You do have to be cognizant of the code surrounding the DIVs. For instance, you canNOT do this:

</table>

You CAN put DIVs within <td></td> and you can put DIVs before or after the table structure. It's always a good idea to check the validity of the code using the w3 Validator ( http://validator.w3.org/ ), but if your pages are already screwed up with poorly coded hacks, modifications and style code, you will have a lot of work ahead to fix it all. The page you linked to has 159 errors. I would be asking the individual authors of those to fix the code. If enough people did that, maybe authors would finally stop being so sloppy with their work.

In any case I have changed the tables over to using the DIV tag instead which seems to load much quicker. You can see it in use here: www.4winmobile.com.

You're welcome. However, just replacing a single table with a DIV doesn't necessarily speed the page load time up enough to see with the nekkid eye. It all adds up though. The page you linked to took a pretty long time to load on my DSL connection. You have more issues than just table structure replaced for DIVs.

Got a pretty bad problem with this. I copied a code into Footer adcode spot and I guess it was a bad code that closed a /form without opening one and messed up the rest of the page after the spot where you enter the code. I can even delete that code because I can no longer see the save button below it, so cant save changes. I'm trying to get the ads to show on the nav bar but for some reason, they're not. I went to this location in Admin: Style Template > Navigation/Breadcrumb Templates > Navbar

I then put in '$navbar_advertisement' at the top of the Navbar section. Did I do this correctly? No ads are showing at all. Below this is my code for the Nav section where I listed my images and url's.

Please advise on how to fix this.

Got a pretty bad problem with this. I copied a code into Footer adcode spot and I guess it was a bad code that closed a /form without opening one and messed up the rest of the page after the spot where you enter the code. I can even delete that code because I can no longer see the save button below it, so cant save changes. Tried to find the template where that code is saved in but it does not seem to be in any of the templates. Any ideas?

I have this mod installed and everything seems to work but I have a problem. With this enabled whenever you move your mouse over a thread the "hover" will not work. This is where you hover your pointer of a thread and it shows your a preview of the thread. I have 2 banners and a google adsense rotating in the navbar. It's frustrating because I've made small changes in the img code like removing code to make it open in a new window and each time I made a small change it would begin working again but would stop after a few hours. Finally I concluded that no matter what I do it will start working again. Literally if I go into my ACP and go to the "Header and Navbar" settings and just click save without changing anything it will begin working again for a few hours and stop again. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm having an issue with vbportal too. Board is working fine, but I am getting a blank vb portal page. Someone working with me on the blank vb portal page issue just installed vB Ad Management to his site, and now he has a blank vb portal page also. My other board is setup the sdame, but without the vB Ad Management, and it is working fine. Are there any known issues or code changes necessary in any of the templates, etc. to get vB Ad Management to work with VB Portal?

Does anyone know if RedTyger still monitors this forum, as some time ago, I posted a problem to it and he asked me to PM him an admin logon/password, so he could have a look, and I've heard nothing since. I also see he hasn't posted anything for a while now.

Can anyone help? At worse, can anyone help me un-install vB Ad Management to keep our web host off my back?

I don't think providing the same answer everytime it's asked for is productive. We are supposed to be forum operators, which would mean we know how to operate a forum - including using the basic Search function of a thread. Seeing the same questions asked over and over shows me that many of the forum owners here don't. I've got no sympathy for them.

I've enabled advertisements on the "last post on a page", but they seem to only appear in the linear views. There is no ad block in hybrid and threaded views.

I understand if that's by design... but if that's the case, does anyone know how to have an ad block appear after the last post on hybrid and threaded views? I'm a VB noob but am not afraid of a little template hacking. :)

I have found the answer to the people using Version 4.x and not being able to see any menus after the hack has been installed.

I tried to run cpadmin on another pc, and what do you know, it looked fine. All the vbadmanagement menus where there.

Tried again on my normal pc, still not working. Only the vbadmanagment hack showing as installed, but when I click on one of the options, I would only get a white screen.

I have ie7pro installed on my normal pc, and have the "enable Ad Blocker " option checked. When this is checked, you can not see any of the menu items for vbadmanagment. When unchecked, it works fine...

Hope this helps some of you that are experiencing the same problem. If you don't have ie7pro, it may be some of your other explorer adons that are blocking what it thinks are ads...

To remove the block from showing at all, edit the template "advertisement_threadbit" under the "Advertisement Templates" group.

You can either remove it when you're editing the template above.... or edit the phrase.

Search for "remove advertisement" under "Languages & Phrases" in the AdminCP.

Hello all, I am excited as can be about this mod. However, am I the only one here that has no clue how to get ads enabled. For example, I want to install ads for postbit so that a google ad is displayed every 5th post/reply. I have it enabled and set to every 5th one under postbit settings, but I am lost as to what I need for postbit adcode, and where/what I need to edit to make it appear.

Can anyone help with this? A little more detailed process that you would use from start to finish to enabled postbit ads.

I am still having trouble with the side columns. I have tried all the different layouts you have shown here and I can't get 2 google ads to run one under the other. I have problems getting ajax refreshing to work. I'm only using the header_advertisement area right now.

In IE, the refresh causes my banner to disappear instead of rotate. No banner ever reappears.
In Firefox, no refresh occurs, the banner is unchanged.
In Safari, no refresh occurs, the banner is unchanged.
In Opera, no refresh occurs, the banner is unchanged.

So, is this function working for anyone else? My templates were all defaults, and I only added the variables need to display the header ad. If it's only meant for things that auto-change like Google ads, please let me know. I was hoping for it to rotate through the ads I have listed, separated by the "|" character.

The initial banner appears on first loading of the page, no problem, and page refreshes do rotate the banners. It's just that AJAX refreshing doesn't seem to work correctly as described above.

To get the effect I'm looking for, do I have to implement iframes that reload?

I doubt that it is against the terms of service for Google Adsense ads, but i would be extremely cautious. They banned one of my adsense domains without notice or even an email explaining why until i asked 6 weeks later. (the word "hack" had been used in my forum..)

Also, my AJAX refresh doesn't currently work either in any browser... i hope we get a quick fix soon.

In regards to ForumBit advertising, I am having a hard time deciding which areas need modification and which areas do not.

My Scenario:
I have two 88x31 files (VendorA.gif and VendorB.gif)
I want VendorA.gif to show up on the forumbit for ForumID 1,
I want VendorB.gif to show up on the forumbit for ForumID 2.

How do I accomplish this simple task? It seems that if I put the $forumbit_advertisement in the forumbit area, I will see the .gif layed out across EVERY forum (1-20). However, there aren't templates for each forumID, so this must be the only way. I can only assume that I have to work some magic in the AdManagement CP with reagrds to conditionals, calling VendorA.gif only for forumID 1, and VendorB.gif only for forumID 2. However, I am not sure how to do this, as there is only one box in which to place adcode (VendorA.gif and VendorB.gif)

Please note I used the two gif files for ease of reference. I am actually trying to implement this in association with OpenAds, so each advertisement (one per forum) is a large chunk of code.

I wanted to change my ads, but when I delete the old ads, and pase in my new ad, after I hit save, it goes back to the old one. I had the same problem and I pooped my pants but investigated a little and found that the upload files tree structure was slightly out. You need to upload each folder seperately to the correct place. For example: /forum/includes/ to /forum/includes/ results in a new /includes/ folder being created within the existing /includes/ folder - an extra layer which throws everything off kilter.

Go through the uploads again and manually ensure that they go the the right place and all should be well.

Hello RedTyger, great hack, install went without a hitch and the plugin is working as advertised :)

There is one question that I have, and even though I'm sure other users might have asked it before me, I did a search on this thread and came up empty: how can we change the username of the "user" that posts the advertisments in the threads?

As you can see from the attached screenshot, right now it's the name of the forum (the default option I assume), which unfortunately is too long and ruins our postbit_legacy layout.

We managed to remove the "Remove advertisments" link by editing the phrase, but came up short when we searched for the username.

True, we can disable the ad template integration, but we kinda' wish to keep that option as a last resort.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated :)

I had the same problem. Heres the reply I was given:

I needed the same thing. Here is what I did. Go to the language and phrase manager. Find the adintegrate_remove_ads. Mine was on the second page of choices. Click the 'edit' button next to it. Then simply put a blank space in the text box with your space bar, and save. That simple. I just did it and it worked for me. Removed it completely. Hope that helps. :)

I installed this mod last night and it works great. Thanks, this is something I've really wanted for a long time and never looked for until now. It is well done and almost exactly what I needed.

However, I have a problem. I created a custom ad block and it works fine. However, when I put anything in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. custom ad block positions and click save, it reloads the page in the CP and they are blank. The first one stays there, but no matter what I put in the others, it simply does not save anything when I try to update the ad block, even though it says "Settings saved successfully" or whatever.

Also, a feature that would be really cool by the way (if you want any suggestions) would be to specify a different ad code for specific themes -- like the header ad uses a different Google Adsense code in one theme than the other, allowing you to better match your ads to the templates without creating tons of custom modules. I go into VB Ad Management | Header & NavBar and put in my code in the NavBar adcode section. The ads even preview fine underneath this. But they are still not showing in the forum.

As for the NavBar template...currently, I put in the following:

This mod is really great, I had it installed and working fine.
But I'm 100% newbie on this HTML stuff and getting some hard times trying to understand some stuff.

I trying to include 5 pics on my header and make them rotating every 30 secs, I aprearently made the adcodes right and paste them like this on the correct field:

When running this thing all the 5 pics are showed correctly but between every pic refreshes the header show me a blank image. What am I doing wrong ?

Can some one tell me how to associante hyperlinks to images using the above example ?

Last thing, does someone here created a mod or somenthing to make a kind of click statistics for the ads ? I know openads can do that and it's free but this mod is so cool and work so good for Vb that I don't want to fry my brain to use openads.

For some reason I have some problems with postbit ads. No matter what I do I can't get them to display on any other page than the first one.
So if I set the ads to be displayed after first post on each page, they only display on the first page, and all the other pages are ad-free. Any ideas?

I do not think this mod is supported any longer. It's been awhile since the developer has answered any questions.

Ok, I have a customer that wants to adversite by providing me a link to a php file. This php file then automatically randomizes the banner he sends for his advertisement. Problem is I can't seem to find the right syntax to get this mod to pull the banner.

The link to the banner.php is this:

If you load that directly in your browser, and reload you will see it gives you one of 2 banners..

I have tried all of the following in the adcode section, but none give the correct result:

Does anyone else have a problem with postbit ads or is it just me? They only appear on the first page of the thread, and I would like them to appear after the first post on each page of the thread

I'm using this to show an ad after every 9 posts for all usergroups except 38 (VIP).

It works in all cases except the ad in the footer... that shows to all users no matter what I think.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

I'd like to have an extension of this mod that would affect a users profile and postbit areas.

Reason: I am disabling ads for my VIP (paid) members. I have one smartaleck who is having some fun with me - rather than supporting the site, he takes a screenshot of the ads and puts it in his sig.

Instead I just made it my sig so that I'll never be without them again...

So I'd like to get even by making the ads show up under his avatar and in his sig - whether he likes it or not LOL!

Is this possible?

(The reason I want it to be part of this mod is I'd like to utilize the random generation of ads and also just be able to punch in a userid so I can do it to more than one user :D)

But I have a little problem.
I am using the mod and everything seems to be fine.
I have a question about a specific part that I can't make it work correctly :-)
The problem I have is the specific part I explain below:
I configured the mod to show ads in postbit.
1 x Ad after 1st post in every thread
1 x ad after 9nth post in every thread
1 x ad in the end of every thread (of all posts)

My forum is configured to have 10 posts in every page of the threads.
I Have vbulletin 3.6.8 and vBadvanced CMPS v3.0 RC2.

I noticed that if i press the portals icon to lead me to the last post someone made
i.e. http://mysite.com/forum/showthread.php?p=15045#post15045
it shows me only the last ad (at the end of every thread)
If I go back and forward in the pages (1,2,3,4,5..etc) then it shows me the ads correctly...

Is there an issue (bug) relative to vbadvanced or am I doing something wrong?
(I configured the "Display advertisement every X posts"= "40" and I still have the problem)
(I used the 1|9|11|19.......|101|119.... function but still got a problem...!!!) :(

I tried it with automatic template editing -->didn't work correctly
Now I have edited the template manually and I have for sure (working) only the "Display advertisement after last post on a page".
Sometimes it shows me the after "1|9" function and sometimes not..(most of the times=not).

What I want is to make the mod work infinitely to a thread (loop) and show my google adsense (3 x ads at a page) in every page of a thread (for sure) and not only in the begining and maybe to other pages. (the last page for sure Don't have the other two ads. Only the last one.)

Having a really weird problem here. I've been using openads, thought I'd give this a shot and set it up, installed everything, no problem. I went to add advertisements and when I went to "submit" it saved, and kept saving.. and saving.. like it was timing out but never did, now when ever I try to go to my site it won't load, but if I go on my phone or someone elses computer it works fine. If I try to set up the ad plugin from another computer the same thing happens there and I can't return to the site from that computer as well, it's like its blocking the IP's almost. Any ideas what's up? :erm:

However, I don't believe that kind of inclusion is rendered by the PHP Parser, so it appears blank. In fact, a search on "php include" dug up this tidbit (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1210189&postcount=709) from RedTyger:

PHP cannot be used in templates.
