I upgraded my vbulletin to the latest version... and still this mod is not showing up on my pages. It shows up in the admin control panel and even let's me preview the ad but then nothing on my forums. I have it enabled. Maybe my coding is wrong? Here is what I put in the left hand column for coding:

The developer has not been online since december 2007 so I think it is safe to assume the developer has abandoned this mod.

Even though I will loose some nice features and have to manually exclude usergroups I won't display ads for I am removing this mod and will use the default ad templates that 3.7.0 comes with.

I am one of the admins on www.sonomacountymom.com. This forum has a custom background, and we have modified some colors. We used to have a custom skin but sacrificed it to get the left column ads to show, and they did not. So far we have input the code for our ads in the vB Ad Management under left & right columns. No changes were made to any templates at this point. Please advise us how to proceed to get these ads up and running on the site! Thanks in advance!

Basically, it works with 3.6.x. Did you add code to the default template?

See above so no this should not be moved to graveyard because of a new different mod is available and working for 3.7.0.

Only reason to move it to the graveyard in my opinion is that it seems the original developer has abandoned it.

I am trying to use conditionals in Vb Ad Manager 4 and they don't seem to work at all. Specifically I'm trying to use them for the header and footer. Is $forum not the correct variable? I have tried several others, including $forumid, and $foruminfo[forumid], all with absolutely no success. I have tried it on two boards. One VB 3.7 and one 3.6.8. I essentially copied the examples from the manual page and changed the forum id but still with no success.

Do conditionals work for anybody? Or are they completely broken. I saw several complaints about them not working throughout the thread, but never saw a response.

If anybody could shed some light on this, I'd really appreciate it.

It appears that conditionals can be made to work for forum ids by using $GLOBALS[forumid] instead of $forum (per the instructions) or $forumid (which, oddly enough, works if you have it in your template header).

Poorly distributed, IMO. If you are going to have confusing setup options like installing a separate product that contains nothing but required language files there should at least be a readme file.

Hey guys I'm a little confused about using adsharing on vb admanagement. I read over the tutorial on http://redtyger.co.uk/manual.php?product=vB+Ad+Management&version=4.02

however, there is one spot in the tutorial I'm confused about

"The google_ad_client part is what I'm interested in. The letter/number sequence there is the ID of the publisher to whom the royalties are paid. If I change that ID, I change where the payments for that advertisement go. So, what I want to do is replace that part of the code with someone's publisher ID depending on circumstance. I've created a User Profile Field, which will appear in every ad sharing enabled user's UserCP. I need to make a note of the field number that vBulletin has assigned that field, which can by found by viewing AdminCP > User Profile Fields > User Profile Field Manager. In this case it is field6.
Custom user profile field.

So, in the Adsense code I'm going to replace the section I want to be variable with the appropriate field number, with a # either side of it to indicate that this is the removable section.

This is the part I'm confused with, what adcode block is he referring to? Does he mean, replace the adsense code that we have in the field under say navbar, with this one? If that is the case, how does the admin get paid if a person clicks on the advertisement? Doesn't that mean only the people who have registered and made posts get paid, since #field6# is variable?


Is there a better tutorial that explains how to use adsharing. I just want to make sure that I'm also getting paid and not just the users who have registered with this adsharing feature.

Hi im having some problems getting some adds to randomly display. I currently have six adds i would like to randomise in the header. I appear to have everything set correctly but it will only show the one ad then it will just dissapear after 60 seconds.

Try taking the "|" off the last line, I dont' think it's needed...

Okay I have a problem. I'm on 3.7 gold. I'm trying to share the revenue.

The field I made for the sharing is field10. So I put #field10# but it doesn't work. Shows up as blank. No ads on the header. I use this code:

I followed your instructions (very easy) with the product upload and all, but once I finished it my site went blank. Uninstalled and removed all the files and it's all back to normal. I really needed this product but for some reason it messed with my forum. :(

i dont think using ad management would be the best option for this. if you only want to show the ads on 1 page then why use this tool?

i assume you would need to use an if statement to decide if the page is the forum home page and then add the code into the header section for the ad,.

I tried putting the ad code in my threadbit template and it works in FF but not in IE 6 or 7. Can someone please suggest how I would alter my template or css to accomodate this ad:

I was right there with you yesterday! I have installed this several times in the past and always just refered back here for instructions (I have a horrible memory). Well of course I come here and couldn't find it. It took me a while, but I got it worked out. So here you go:

1. Upload all of the files that are in the "uploads" folder. Be sure to maintain the folder heirarchy.

2. Go to your vB admincp, then "Plugins & Products" in the left hand menu, select "Manage Products". You will see an "Add/Import Product" link, click it.

3. Use the "Browse" button to locate the file called "vb_ad_management.xml". It is in the "vb_ad_management_402" folder. Check "Allow Overwrite" to "Yes". Then click "Import". The system will then import the product and let you know when it's done.

4. Once that is done. Do step #3 again except you will import a different file. It is called "vb_ad_management_english.xml" and is in the "languages" folder.

5. If you refresh your admincp, you should now see a new menu option on the left hand side called "vB Ad Management". That is where you will set everything up. It's pretty straight forward from that point on.

Most everything is working just fine, however when checking appearance in IE with script debugging turned on, I keep getting an error stemming from the advertisement_sponsors template. According the the script debugger, the illegal character is in the following code. With limited skill in coding, I've tried removing or changing many of the items without success. Any ideas of the issue? Here's a cut/paste from the script source:

So why install this mod? Do you have a better product? For the most part of it, this one does what I need it to do. Yes, a little buggy here and there but quite functional. I am using an older version without all the fancy banner sharing and it works on 3.7.2 but I am going to remove it soon simply because the developer is not around to support and update it (and because it has become big and bloated in my opinion). I might make a simple version for myself if I get the time.

Sorry to say so but you really should have checked when the developer was last online. He has not been online since december 2007 and on top of that the links to his server is not working. All signe that this mod is to be avoided. It appears to me that he has abandoned the mod. As for moving to graveyard, that is something I have suggested to the staff but they say they don't do that just because the author is not around.

You should restore the backup you took before upgrading.

When I updated to .7.2 I reverted a lot of my templates...by default in this mod, auto insert is switched off, enabling it in Global Settings sorted it, and inserted the ads wherever I wanted them

You need to upload the "vb_ad_management_english.xml" file same as the other .xml file you uploaded.

Some of our registered users would like to opt-in to ads, since we only show them to unregistered users.

So, we created a $bbuserinfo['field13'] in the adminCP with values "On" and "Off" and are trying to add the conditional to the right place in the code.

I searched the templates and this pointed me to the code:

/var/www/includes/vb_ad_management/global_start.php

and the variable $do_ads;

So, I edited global_start.php by adding this conditional:

.... || ($bbuserinfo['field13'] == 'On')

but this does not seem to work.

Any ideas?

Sussed it, the problem is that it will not insert anything, the copywrite logo did not appear so manually inserted and the site reappeared. The problem now is that no ads appear I assume the insertions to the templactes is not working. Any ideas how to correct this?

my question... i have a member requesting an amazon search box on the homepage. very small, maybe 150px by 100px or so. (just guessing).

anyway, its slightly taller than the forum bit lines, but id love it to fit in there. currently with vb ad managment, it either blends it as a separate forum, or puts it centered in its own space.

how do i put it in the same space as the forum title, and enlarge the forumbit for that specific forum just a little bit to make it fit?

if that doesnt make sense, ill draw a pic, i think that might help. thanks for all you do!

1. Removing this must be done manually now. Look for <phrase 1="$vboptions[bburl]">$vbphrase[adintegrate_remove_ads]</phrase> in the applicable template and just delete it.

2. That is an unfortunate side-effect of the way that the vBulletin products are set up. It'll just have to be ignored I'm afraid.

just a quickie here... if you search/replace in styles w/ regular expressions in the adminCP and use the following "find" text[\s]*<if.*adcode.*[\s]*.*[\s]*.*adintegrate_remove_ads.*[\s]*.*[\s]*<\/if>[\s] w/ an empty "replace" block, it'll nail them all automagically :):up:

Well, I got the same problem and tried to find the solution.

I took these steps:
1) Go to vb ad management / Global Settings and set the option "Automatically insert advertisements?" to No.

2) Go to Styles & Templates and search for the template FORUMHOME, insert "$rightcolumn_advertisement" after $navbar (beggining lines, or wherever but it was fine for me), you have to reduce all the widhts there from 100% to 80% (there were 3 near the header) because there is no space to put the right column if it is set to 100%. then save

3) Search the template "advertisement_rightcolumn" in the fourth line set the:
<table align="right" (it was left in mine) and save.

4) The right column in "Left & Right Columns" have to be enabled obviously.

I guess that is it. At least for me worked.

I am somewhat new to vBulletin coding, so I could use some help. I am trying to figure out how to add a banner to the forumbit sections. There are 4 different forumbit templates that can be modified; post, no_post, 1, and 2. Which are which?

Also, I am a little confused on what to put here $x_advertisement, where the x is. It was a bit vague in the installation guide for some of the coding newbies.

Keep the folder structure.

So everything in in the includes folder goes in the includes folder and so on...

I'm using a brand-free version of vBulletin / Enabling advertisements makes my forum pages go blank!

The full copyright link to my website must be present for the modification to work. If you are using a brand-free version of vBulletin you may find that it is not added automatically and that page display fails when vB Ad Management is turned on. There are two easy ways to fix this. Copy the following text... `

So you should see something like $ad_location['ad_navbar_below'] in your templates. Place that into your 'Navbar automatic insertion box' that way the ad will show up there.

I use this so I can rotate ads instead of just having one ad all the time. It's nice.

It can get everything working, but as soon as I enable an ad, the page the ad is to be shown goes blank. All copyright notices are intact, everything is default. I even removed my own copyright notice to make sure.

Sorry the only thing I have found for the cause of that is the copyright not being there...have you tried adding the copyright in the footer like the suggestion in the manual?

I just tried to do it but it looks like thats the only way it can be done :confused:

The call is in the header. I changed it to the navbar and changed replacement and it didn't change. Maybe someone a little more experienced could shed some light on it.

I have searched for an answer to this question, but cannot find one.

I have loaded six ads into the system for the header ad position using the prompts provided in the admincp. When I choose for the banners to refresh periodically, I tried 60 seconds, the ad disappears after the time span and another ad does not appear. If I turn off the periodic refresh the ad rotate whenever the page is changed or refreshed with a click. How can I get the periodic refresh timing system to work?

Like I said before I was using the the hooks that vb uses for the ads that way they show right under those. I don't think vbadvanced uses those. So at the end of the navbar (or top of forumhome) take that hook and paste into the box and use that instead.

Howdy all! I got this working on my stripped down 3.8.0 site. http://www.suzukiequatorforum.com/

Granted I don't have my SEO software installed, homepage or arcade but the fact remains that it will work.

Upload everything in the uploads folder as is then go to Products and Plugins manager at your VB control panel and upload both vb_ad_management.xml and also vb_ad_management_english.xml found in the languages folder, both are products.

Just remember that when you add code to the header section you have to click save before moving on to the navbar area. Even though they are both on the same page they are separate areas and have separate and individual save buttons.

Also the remove ads link won't work so you need to remove those in the Advertisement Templates by deleting <phrase 1="$vboptions[bburl]">$vbphrase[adintegrate_remove_ads]</phrase>

I have Ajax disabled at the moment and also Automatically insert advertisements? so you must insert the appropriate hook into the appropriate template found in the Ad locations Templates. For example: after you place the code for the header and save it. Copy $header_advertisement and paste it in the ad_header_logo template.

That would be fine except I have multiple sponsors who all want to see their banner at the top. The ads rotate so all is well.

I use the header adcode section. One of my advertisers uses a flash banner. This is the code I use to display it. You'll want tp modify the width and height parameters to match the banner size on your forums.

I?ve been trying to search for the answer to this both here and in the Google Analytics docs but was wondering if anyone could help me.

I have a flash banner in the header using this code (when clicked it takes the user to an external site):

Yes, these terms as using to control the corresponding permissions of enabling/hiding the message /post output.

About your case, maybe groups or forums permission settings need mainly tuned.

I was able to fix my problem, I needed to and add all the ad hooks manually. Now I'm just looking to remove the annoying box that surrounds my advertisements in the postbit. I don't know why the designer should do such a thing, as study after study have shown that blended advertisements always fare better. : (

as of know it shows above my logo and I can get it to show below my logo

Hello...I am running into the same issue as "Texans Talk" (post #2746). (I assume) Without a successful import of the language file, my CPAdmin file looks like this:
