Get Firefox and the addon Firebug...look for missing image placements, might be pointing to a style location it wasn't uploaded to. It should tell you where the images are being looked for, then just upload them there.

We migrated our forum from 3.8 to 4.2.1 recently and we almost have all the bugs worked out. :p Anyway, when moving to this latest version of Downloads II, we have a minor problem - when uploading a file there is no "insert image" button. If you manually use [img] tags, it works no problem. Any kicks in the right direction would be much appreciated. :)

How can i change the fontsize of the filename link on the page attached above, but leave all the other text the same size. I'd like to make this text 15 or 16px but its inherited and i dont know enough php to do it myself. Also would it be possible to prevent the comments from wrapping under the filename as it makes it harder to see with lots of files. Any help would be appreciated.

That's odd, as there's nothing called "media" in DownloadsII. You can search the whole code, but you won't find any occurrence of it. It's probably caused by another mod.

Looks like an awesome plugin. Before I install it, I'd like to know:

1. Can you only allow certain usergroups to download files? Let's say you have a normal and deluxe membership, and you only want the deluxe users to download a file. Is that possible with this plugin? If not - how would you go about this?

2. Let's now say each month you offer a new download to the deluxe users only. If a user joins the deluxe usergroup in April, would it be possible with this plugin that he only gets the downloads posted each month from april onwards, but not all the previous ones already there?

VBulletin 4 Licenses are lifetime licenses. How did it get expired? If you are facing a problem downloading the latest version, raise a support ticket at the main site.

Is there any way to set the counters manually? I am converting a static site over to vbulletin and would like to display the number of times my files have already been downloaded. Just wondering if there is a quick way to do this.

once all the files you want have been created, just go in and manually change the counters in the database. There is no other way.

Just recently started having problems with the comments on files. All files are set to "decending". Normally the newest comments are at the top of the comments list, now all of a sudden they're all mixed up and out of order but no settings have been changed. Would anyone happen to know what this could be?

For example, in the image attached, the second comment was posted at 10.33pm and the first comment at 10pm...the second comment should be at the top but isn't...the times aren't in order as they were.

I keep getting reports from members of my site that are not able to upload anything. Its completely not reproduceable for over two years. Some say they can't even upload a 150kb file :)

I really would appreciate your help in this Jelle as this is becoming a huge problem at our site.

Thanks but we have that all in place for like two years :) It works for 99% of the members but only a handful are experiencing strange up and download issues that we are not able to resolve (goes even back to the good old 3.8 series) :)

I have tried to reproduce it hundreds of times as well and I also can't find the issue. People are using different browsers, no download managers. Its a complete random bug it seems that keeps on persisting for the last two years.

Reported it multiple times but it seems its only affecting us.

I use this mod on quit a few boards I manage and when problems like it accrue it's almost all the time the member is using a mac or a out dated browser...

Hello , thanks for your mod its very good work my friend , i try it its very good , but i have one problem , i upload a file , i put on comments and i insert one smile for example ":d" or ":D" manual or with Generic Smilies list , inside of the download its appear very nice , but outside in categories its apear the comment with no normal smiles pictures but ":d" or ":D" with out quotes and not the picture :d , i check in smiles options but all seems good.

I was able to reproduce this error.. ONLY by
uploading a 200 meg file

they are uploading files that are larger than the server allows or you allow..

Most server configuration will only allow 50 to 100 megs..
go into your admincp

and under Maintenance
then click view PHP info and then look for "upload_max_filesize" and see what the server allows to be uploaded..

if you want a increase you will have to contact your host..

make sure in your Manage Extensions you have the max file size allowed set as well

I go to admincp-Languages & Phrases-Phrase Manager and in the "Phrase Type:" I select DownloadsII group and Downloads II admin group.
But in any of this groups, not appears the phrases of "Import" option.

Also, other prhrases like usergroups options (options for DownloadsII) not appears, but this phrases, with search, I view the phrases and I translate.

Only I need the "Import" option for made a translation 100%.

When finished the translation, with the permission of author, I upload here.

I created a special user group . however i didnt set these setting like on here to -1 like all my other groups and I placed myself in that group so i restricted myself by this setting in this group not being at -1 for no daily limit .. Pin/Pinned means the same as Stick/Sticked (Sticky) at the forums. It means that a file will be at the top of all listed files in a category.

Is it possible to set who can pin by usergroup permissions? If not can it be added.

that all depends on the type of server you're running off of... you'll need the full path to it.

Dedicated server running Windows server 2008 r2. I tried placing the directory in the wwwroot and in the c:\ directory with no luck.

what does it shows for the absolute path?

For mine its linux, not certain how things would show for windows.
am pretty sure I had it within the web folder vs just a random folder elsewhere.
but that shouldn't have any issue where its located.

I can't get the permissions to work correctly for user groups. trying to restrict a category to vips only but nothing i do works. it seems to be treating all the cats as one. have 3 set up with children cats and using show only 1,2 in the settings will still show cat 3.

Exclude Categories: When set to "Yes", only the categories listed below can be viewed by this group. When set to "No", all categories can be viewed except the ones listed below.

To permit this usergroup to view all categories, leave this entry BLANK. Otherwise, enter the categories to include or exclude (depending on the setting above) separated by commas. For example: 1,2,4,6

I set to yes and put 3 in the box to exclude it and it shows no cats. turn it off and it shows all. tried all sorts of ways changed cat 3 to 9 because of the children cats 1,2,3,4 ect. main cats set 1,2,9 and still not working for me it is either all or nothing for the regular members.

Right, at last after a week of getting 500 server errors, whilst trying to download files that were not uploaded by me via the import feature. These all worked fine, but every file that anyone else uploaded, gave me a server error.
I tried everything, thinking it was either my modified htaccess file, or modifies php5.ini file for increased upload size.

well its not!

After downloading my error logs from the server, i found lots of this line:
malformed header from script. Bad header=application/rar; name="myfilename: downloads.php, referer: http://www.domain.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=66

The clue was the "Bad header=application/rar", as i knew this was in the extensions settings.

Simply remove everything from the box in .rar and .pdf, and now it works a treat.

If anyone has the correct "working" header setting for these two extentions, i would appreciate them, as everything on the internet says something different. In my opinion, most popular file types are recognised by browsers anyway, so most could be left blank.

Hope this helps others who are getting dreaded 500 errors!

Author is nothing to do with the uploader. That is totally seperate.
Author is for the author of whatever you have uploaded, ie ebook etc.

I recently upgraded from vbulletin 3.8.7 to 4.1.3 and everything including this mod seemed to be working ok until I went to try to upload new files today and received the empty form in the screenshot below. Also looking back, I remember an error message while doing the mod upgrade stating my security token had expired when I tried to update counters...

"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was invalid."

Any thoughts on what might be wrong? The downloads themselves are working fine...

For me DLII stopped working. Must be a 4.1.3/custom style issue. Switching to standard style solves the problem, but that isn't a good solution.

I dont know how to search for the problem, because there is no affected template from DL.

After clicking the save changes button there is no reaction from system. Just the upload graphics icon appears. But thats it. No Upload and no edit possible.

Any hints?

Right now the database on my test domain thinks one of its categories has 4,294,967,283 files. Could you implement a recount feature? It would save me a lot of trouble.

Use strict daily download limits. If set to "No", a user will only receive a download limit reached message if BOTH the MB and file per day limit are reached. If set to "Yes", exceeding either limit will trigger the download limit reached message.

Some users report to me this error:

The users have the error with security token, if I click in this url, also, I have the same problem, message that security token.

But if to this url, I cut the final part, the black part: &act=down&actionhash=guest, leaving the url only like this (without the black part):

Any error, and download fine.

It's possible solved this?

This issue I also have in the old version of vb 3.x (and this mod), I upgraded vb to 4.1.3 (and this mod) and continue the problem.

Have a problem with the permission settings. I want to set permissions for a special category that way, that category is only visible for a special group of users. So i did create an usergroup named "download standard" and an usergroup "download special". All other usergroups (exept admins) are set that way that all downloadII permissions ar set to "No"

At usergroup "download standard" downloadII permissions are set to "yes" and downloadII extra permissions are set in "Exclude Categories" to "yes" and next field is filled with the number of the category which i don't want to be visible for the users of usergroup "download standard".

Because the /downloads folder is the default location for where the downloads get uploaded to. The reason the index file is blank is so that someone can't do exactly what you're trying to do and point their browser at the downloads directory and get the complete listing of all files that have been uploaded.

To actually access the downloads interface in your forums, either click downloads on your forum index, provided you have that enabled, or point your browser to downloads.php in the same folder as your forums index.php is located in.

If you know how works FTP softwares you'll find that there is a 1998 files limit for a folder.

We should be able to choose in which folders which files are stored depending of the download categories. Not to pack everything in one single folder ( files and images ).

That means that, presently, were are limited to have only 1998 files or 999 files + 999 images ( the files + the thumbnails ).

This is the problem....

The following dependencies were not met:
This product is not compatible with version 4.1.4 of vBulletin. (Compatible starting with 4.0.0 beta 1 / Incompatible with 4.1.0 and greater)

So, I tried installing the Downloads II 6.0.7 hack tonight, and got the following error:

XML Error: Invalid character at Line 2483

Does this mean that Downloads II 6.0.7 is not compatible with vB 4.1.4 either?

That's strange. I'm running vB 4.1.4 myself and DownloadsII is working fine :)
There's nothing special on line 2483 of the product XML.

Try reuploading the XML or upload it to your server and use the "import the XML file from your server" option.

Can this be setup as a media library?

No uploads or downloads.

I simply want a media library page where users can:

1. embed their youtube videos or playlists
2. embed audio (soundcloud etc)

Slow Down! You are trying to download files too quickly. You must wait 60 seconds before you may download another file.

Now I know users love to moan about free gifts without thinking about the FREE GIFT part first because I am a modder and get that too. So let me put this product in its rightful place amongst download managers for websites.

Having used everything from Nuke, Mamba, Joomla, IPB and many others, and tried their download managers out. I can say with some confidence this probably the best one available right now.

Its easy to install, easy to use, easy to add files too. Though there is room for improvement here with the file list which looks a little untidy in the way its presented currently, unless I am missing a feature that changes that. Which might be the case, I am a new user of this software.

Basically though users hoping to find a better download manager either for free or professional will have a hard time. Usually they are nightmares and missing key features which this program seems to have.

No, for me it works fine :)

90% chance it's caused by another mod related to the editor on your site which isn't 100% vB 4.1.4 compatible. Try disabling other mods and see if it helps.

Hi Jelle! I guess there is a update neccessary. Vbulletin 4.1.4 runs without the /includes/functions_wysiwyg.php and there seems to be a call by Downloads II if you are using the wysiwyg editor. Since in 4.1.4 it is missing you will get a

Hi Jelle! I guess there is a update neccessary. Vbulletin 4.1.4 runs without the /includes/functions_wysiwyg.php and there seems to be a call by Downloads II if you are using the wysiwyg editor. Since in 4.1.4 it is missing you will get a



You won't notice it, if you are upgrading vom 4.1.3 to 4.1.4 cause the functions_wysiwyg.php will be there, but people doing a fresh install or wiping off old files after upgrading will run into this.

I upgrade from vb 4.1.3 to 4.1.4 but I was deleted the Removed Files (https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php/381438-vBulletin-4.1.4-now-available-for-download), and I deleted this file.
Now, when users upload a file, I have this error.

Well I'd prefer an update that doesn't require the depreciated vbulletin files, but if other users don't report errors with the old file I guess I'll add it back, just hope it doesn't screw anything up

I got hacked this morning and they deleted and uninstalled my Downloads area. Have reinstalled the mod but obviously everything has gone, all my catagories and posts, files etc. They still remain on the server.

How would I go about getting everything back? I have a backup of my site, i.e the contents of the FTP dragged onto my desktop and also have a backup via the server. However I don't want to restore the entire forum as it was only the downloads affected.

Can I drag the files from the ftp back up and overwrite the new files...would that work? If so, what files would I need to move. Any advice would be appreciated.

Normally you should just re upload the site backup and databases. But if you made only a site backup ( FTP ) it is useless if you didn't made a databases backup. Because you should re upload the databases too.

Hint: Making a site ( FTP ) backup is useless without a databases backup.

Also I really doubt you were hacked. Its probably one of the people you granted access to the administration who did that. A real hacker would have erased all your site and not only downloads.

Search for $dlcustomtitle in downloads.php. Pretty self-explanatory to change its content :)

Currently, there are no major blockers on that list. Most of the items in it are suggestions, not bugs.

Though keep in mind the h1 title is used on every page. You could wrap it in some conditionals to meet your needs.

The sidebar boxes are made with sidebar.css, which isn't made for non-sidebar usage. It always wants to split the page into two columns.

You might want to try something like:

Recheck your extensions configuration and more specifically the usage. There must be something wrong with it :)

Have you modified any DownloadsII templates? Then you need to revert those as in v6.0.7 some delete conditionals were changed to fix a permission issue. You probably have outdated templates referencing the old conditionals.

And thats it. Nothing about file size or file type. I see all of the dl2_ messages in the phrases, including ones that say that it must be a valid extension and such. Just they arent showing up under the errors as they should.

ok, seems that the newreply_error template was changed with 4.1.5. So instead of just doing a "<li>$errormessage</li>", it instead expects the whole $error array, and parses through it.

I ended up hacking the code to work around this, and my errors now show up.

I don't understand very well de solution.
I have configured a limit to downloads size for differents usergroups.
Now, I go to reconfigured this limitations for not have downloads size limitations for usergroups and view if the problem is solved.

I view that, the users report to me this problem with security token:
The user report that click in this link:

If I click in this link (I am a administrator) also, appears the security token error.
But, if a this url, I deleted this part:

I don't have any problem for download.
