AuthorID from File. To add this is simple, but I don't want add one query write only for add this field. Thanks ^_^

That's not possible at the moment as the field doesn't exist. In the past we only had the "author" field (without usernames) and then we added username parsing to it. That's cached in the "_author" field and is updated when you edit a file.

As it's possible to add multiple usernames, adding an authorid field isn't that easy. Then we need to comma list them (so join queries would be impossible, you would need multiple queries) or we need to add a separate table for them (which isn't worth it, I think).

Yes, you need to add it again as both systems are working separately. There's no integration with vB4's asset manager at the moment.

No, there's no need for attachment icons. We do not use those at the moment.

Just have a look at the attachment mime types, you can copy those :)
+ You can leave it empty if you are not sure. Then a default one will be used.

Just add images to files and they will be thumbnailed automatically? Like on the second and third screenshot.

For me don't work,
only very smallest images can be addedd clicking "Add Image", and only the first image extension addedd work.

For example, i have addedd the png extension for first, i have tryed to upload a image about 200x80 and is not been uploaded, i have reduced the dimension and the image it was uploaded.
After i have addedd the jpg/jpeg extension, i have tried to upload some jpeg images, but the mod show that only the png files are allowed. :(

there's a fix?

I just downloaded this and installed it but when I click on the download tab on the navigation bar, it opens up a blank page to www.mysite.com/downloads.php but it gives the 403 forbidden error anyone know how to fix this

Other than that, in the previous version, when we would want to assign a new uploader, after typing a few characters, the User IDs which started with those characters would appear as a list below. Somehow, it isn't working anymore. I am using Firefox, if it helps. Thanks! :)

I have update vb3.8.4 to 4.0.1 with Download II 5.1.1 to 6.0.1 (Add-on was dissable). So Downloads II 5.1.1 still stays in the Add-on view on AdminCP and the data (files, righst, categories) ist not present in the 6.0.1.

What is the problem?

I have these extensions set....then work fine.
.eps .ai .cdr .swf .pdf .dxf .svg .aps .tif (I have the Usage of this extension set as 'file')

I have gif and jpg set as image.
But these will not show up as extensions that can be used

I also have on the control panel "Allow users with permission to view and post images." set to "yes".

Also, admin usergroup is pretty much all "Yes"

What am I missing to get the jpg and the gif images added to the list of can upload ext.

Goto Admin Permission and set for you "yes" ^^

Reload admincp and now show top of right menu :)

In my Admin Permission, everythin is on "yes"

But I dont understand what do you mean with right menu, the menu is still on the left side... ;-)

The Download link in forum works for me, but it's still empty. Exactly: The test category is in there, but all data from the 5.1.1 ist noch present (but they are in DB and on filespace).

Hi - It would be appreciated if anyone has insight if this mod would work for the following:

I need to create an private intranet and was considering VB4CMS. We need to post commission reports (PDF's, spreadsheets) that would be private to each user - probably a total of 50 users. Could this mod be used to create sections that are private only to a single user (and the admin of course)?

It's a community mod, not a professional one. For doing this, you would need to set up 50 categories and 50 usergroups for those access permissions. That's insane :D

You could use forums for this. Just setup one forum and then use the "Can View Others' Threads" (No) forum permission.

2. This seems to be a new bug introduced with vB 4.0.1. The AJAX username suggestion is working nowhere for me (and it did work before). Can you confirm this?
It's the second new bug :mad: The profile tab isn't working any more too because they "fixed" a bug with it.

That's a general vB CSS thing, which is used like that on some other vB pages. You need to change the blocksubhead_link_color stylevar for that.

You didn't follow the upgrade instructions (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1940263&postcount=3) ("Upgrade from DownloadsII 5"). You need to run the upgrade script, which will convert the old product data.

Uninstall the DownloadsII 6 product and follow the upgrade steps.

You need to set gif and jpg as File or Both for the usage.
- File: Add file
- Image: Add image (to files, afterwards)

You mean for vBSEO? I'm not using that myself, so I can't support it. But I know that there's a thread about it at the vBSEO forums.

Or do you mean vB4's default SEO URL system? I will rewrite the member.php URL's correctly in a next version, but I'm not planning a rewrite addition for the downloads.php url's. There's no other mod doing that at the moment, so there's no guide for it (and I'm not going to discover it all by myself :D). It's like integrating into vB4's integrated search or asset manager. I'm waiting until there's more information about all those new things.

Pin/Pinned means the same as Stick/Sticked (Sticky) at the forums. It means that a file will be at the top of all listed files in a category.

How do I remove the download abuse timer? I didn't see an option for that in this version.
Slow Down! You are trying to download files too quickly. You must wait 60 seconds before you may download another file.
UPDATE: I figured it out, I had to enable strict settings and change "60" to "-1".

Can I suggest that you add the "My Files" thing again that was in the vb3 version?
.. Also possibly recreating/redoing the "PM notification on moderated file".. cause it only linked to the right entry when the file was added, not when it was edited.. :)

That's possible if you want. There's a field to link to files (and you can disable the upload field with the usergroup permissions). And you can change some phrases from Downloads to Links :)

Ahh, thats what i'm looking for. What i've just noticed though is, cause i have alot of files linking to the download directory (i didn't upload using the script, so had to link using url address). The script isn't serving the download, just linking to it. Anyway around this e.g. if the referrer is local (my domain) they can have direct access, else forbidden?

That's because of a new file size check.

Find and remove
<input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="{vb:raw inimaxattach}" />
from the downloads2_file and downloads2_file_addit templates.

This is already fixed for the next release, 6.0.2.

@All: I will be releasing 6.0.2 somewhere after vB 4.0.2 is released, just to make sure the profile tab is working with some new template changes in it.

6.0.2 is mainly a bugfix release (you can view all fixes in the second post (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1940255&postcount=2), some more are on the way). The only new thing is a word wrap option for the sidebar, but that's not that exciting :p
Member.php links will also be rewritten with vB4's friendly url system.

When I click import [files], I get this error.

I uploaded several files to my /downloads directory.
I am assuming that is how the import function works.

Thanks! I love this feature! I use mine primarily for pictures that are placed into different categories. I was wondering if a widget could be made to possibly show random images from all the files or categories that the admin chooses? That would be a cool feature!

hope you can improve the search as im having similar issue as the first generation of downloadsII

as result only shows ABC DEF when theres files with reverse name like DEF ABC which doesnt appear when i search for the name ABC DEF

Fixed my issue. Here is what you need to notice. When adding Extensions make sure your adding them under the download II section in your admin panel. Also make sure you pick File, Image or both.

It's definitely not caused by DownloadsII, the old Create Thread add-on or the old pm add-on. There's nothing in our software with the name "ms_leaders_ugp_permissions" in it.

It's caused by another mod (with a bad installation or a bad removal). Normally you should be able to trace it with the "leaders" name. What mod you are/were using could use such a name?

Also check the /includes/xml/ directory for old bitfield xml's (= usergroup permissions) from mods you removed.

This is on my todo list for the next release. But I'm waiting for vB 4.0.2 which will bring some extra changes to the CSS loading.

That's caused by the Post Thank You Hack, which is using some invalid XHTML for the postbit stats.

The only thing you can do is changing the Execution Order of the "DownloadsII: Set Postbit Template Hook" plugin to a lower value at the Plugin Manager. But that's only changing the issue by putting the downloads stats before the thank you stats.

DownloadsII 6.0.2 is mainly a bugfix release, but there are some small new things too. First, there is the new word wrap setting for sidebar items. Large file names won't be breaking the sidebar layout any more. I also added support for vB4's friendly SEO URLs (except for the author field at the moment) and some basic template hooks. Finally most known bugs are now resolved.

Please note that the username suggestion and downloads profile tab aren't working if you run vB 4.0.1. These are known vB bugs and they should be fixed in 4.0.2.

Not sure if its just me but the "Turn off the downloads section for maintenance. There is a usergroup setting to override this option." Needs to be set to yes to activate the downloads section. setting it to no turns the section off. It appears as if the control is backwards on it. Obviously not a big issue, but is odd. It won't work and uninstalling also won't work after upgrading DownloadsII itself (it will throw database errors and won't fully uninstall). Just keep it disabled for the moment. CyberRanger said he's working on an update :)

Ok so i sucessfully updated to vb4 woot woot every thing waz fine untill i updated this Mod,now all i get is this. please help i hope this is simple to fix but i think this might of happen cuz i forgot to set YES under AdminCP -> vBulletin Options -> vBulletin Options -> Plugin/Hook System as i had it set to NO while i did the vb4 update.

I think, its just a cache problem. If you are using any cache mechanism such as xcache, APC etc try to cache flushing. Everythings for fine on my server (http://www.hardwaremania.com/forum/download.html) with vbb4.0.2

I have a slight problem with permissions. I have 3 categories in Downloads. I want unregistered members to access just 1 of these categories. If I edit the "unregistered" usergroup, and select which number of category they have access too, they always seen more than one.

Example....

To permit this usergroup to view all categories, leave this entry BLANK. Otherwise, enter the categories to include or exclude (depending on the setting above) separated by commas. For example: 1,2,4,6

I type in "3"

Unregistered people then see categories 1 and 3.

But if I type in "2", unregistered people see 2 and 3

It's as if it is completely random.

Am I doing something wrong?

Is just the same for me too. But only as long as the vB-Style/Language-Option CSS-Stylesheets store as files is set to Yes. If it's set to No the style is broken.

I installed fine and everything, but no matter what settings I change, I always see the following error when I click the "Downloads" tab:

Administrator, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I've tried checking 'Yes' and 'No' in the 'Exclude Categories' category. I've also tried leaving the 'To permit this usergroup to view all categories, leave this entry BLANK. Otherwise, enter the categories to include or exclude (depending on the setting above) separated by commas. For example: 1,2,4,6' category blank as well as entering my created category's display order number in that field for both 'Yes' and 'No'. Nothing works. Still access denied.

and ADDED the missing headinclude_bottom for styles to work..

That's already fixed in version 6.0.2 (it's in the changelog: "Added missing headinclude_bottom variable to the head"). You probably modified the template and didn't revert it?

You can disable it in the DownloadsII settings: "Enable Plugin Features" -> uncheck "Navbar Tab".

DownloadsII 6.0.3 is a maintenance release for vB 4.0.2 compatibility. It fixes the missing CSS when storing CSS as files by using the new CSS rollups. Also the profile tab and AJAX username suggestion are fixed.

Please note that it's meant for vBulletin 4.0.2, which is the new minimum requirement.

Maybe a stupid question but how can I have thumbnails showing? Do you have to upload an image under files to the Downloads folder for the thumb to show or is it taken from any images posted? I have thumbs enabled in the admin cp under Downloads but no show.

Now another strange thing:

this is my download folder path: ./forum/downloads but if i open the download site i reveice following message on top:

How could that be?

I solved it. The problem was the download path.. i changed from ./forum/downloads to /downloads no it works perfect.

Thanks Jelle! It is very well done, and I really appreciate all your hard work. I just have one question:

I have some categories that are only available to certain usergroups and not regular users. Regular users cannot see these categories in the main pane, which is great -- but they do still see the files inside those categories in the "Latest Files" and "Most Popular Files" blocks.

If they click on the filename there, they see a message: "Invalid File ID." It would be much better if they did not see the files at all. Is there a way to work around this besides turning off the blocks? I have vb 4.0.2 and the latest version of Downloads II

It's designed like that at the moment. The sidebar is cached to avoid unnecessary queries, but this is the side effect of it: no usergroup permissions are applied.
Maybe I need to add a setting to disable the cache and run the queries (with permissions) on each page load.

Yes, but it isn't fully compatible. Though for 4.0.1 it doesn't matter a lot as the profile tab and AJAX suggestion are broken in there. So the 4.0.2 fixes for that won't hurt :)

Only the "Fixed "Exclude Categories" usergroup permission when set to Yes" fix will apply to you then.

Just installed, this is pretty good.

The only thing I don't like at all is how the permissions are done. Takes a LONG time to set them up if you have a lot of usergroups (which I do). Would be much nicer if you could attach the permissions to the forum permissions. =)

All in all, good stuff, but the setup is a killer.

You need to edit the downloads2_wrapper_side template, where you can find the disclaimer.

It will respect the "Can Access The Downloads Section" once there are basic auto-permissions for new installs. Otherwise it would confuse too much people (resulting in lots of support questions :p).

It was happening because I was a member of an additional user group. Even though my primary user group of admin had full access as soon as I made myself an additional user of another user group it was over riding it.

For the next version, is it possible that in "Manage files" if you select "Delete file", the system asks something like "Are you sure that you want to delete the file XYZ?" or a warning of that sort?

I ALMOST clicked on the wrong file today, so thought that it would be nice to have a check in place. :)

That's not something for the next release, but each delete option needs a double check indeed, like on the file page.

I've just installed this onto my test system, could you clarify a few things for me.

1. When you set the allowed extension type to image, it does not display it as a thumbnail when uploaded. Only way around this is to upload an image to an already uploaded image file. Is this how it's meant to work because I'd like to use this tool as an image library

2. Can the tab be re-named from 'Downloads'?

Btw, great tool if I can get it working for our requirements

This looks like a great plugin. I have a question for you if you dont mind.
Let me first say what I'm trying to accomplish. I have a large forum of musicians. They all currently upload their songs/compositions inside of post/thread. Even though its not an ideal solution but at least people can search for them.

The question I have is this, is it possible to setup your mod in a way where you can define Genres as categories and then have people upload their songs/compositions and also include the artist name? I've been searching for something like this for quite some time but can't really find anything that suites my need. Or is there a plugin that allows to do a Thread/Post upload and also provide more details about the file being uploaded, like artist, generes etc?

Ok i've looked through all 31 pages to try and solve my next problem and no luck.

Im attempting to upload an MP3 track. I am the sole administrator, this is the only usergroup i am in, i have set my usergroup limits to -1 presuming that means there are no limits. I have also left the maximum file size empty in the extentions section of DownloadsII adminCP and the extention is titled "mp3".

Yet when i am uploading a 13mb mp3 track it loads for about 60seconds then.. error - The file(s) uploaded were too large to process.

I have sections for all users and a hidden sections for a special user group. In the Download Statistics there are listed all categories and downloads (also the hidden ones).

Is it possible not to show the downloads statistics? And how can I do that?

Ouch we had an exclusive mod release today. Lots of new registered users report that they get the message that they reached their daily download limits without ever downloading anything.

This problem persist already since version 5 and we can't seem to reproduce the problem or get rid of it.

Any suggestions? (Yes all settings are correct :D)

Getting this: Your server is running safe mode. You MUST manually create a folder named dl_tmp under your downloads folder. Be sure to change the permissions to 777. Made the new folder and changed the permissions, but it still shows the same thing. Any idea how to fix?

Feature Request: The ability to require a user to be logged in when downloading files from certain usergroups, and allowing non-logged in users to download files from other usergroups.

Idea is that upgrading to the 'Premium' usergroup allows your files to be downloaded more, as guests would be able to download the file without having to signup. Downloading files uploaded by users in the 'Standard' usergroup would require that you be logged in...

In addition, it would be nice if you can set this at a per file level - to be set at the file upload page.

I have a problem or maybe I'm mistaken. There's an option under settings for "profile tab" but when enabled, no profile tab appears. Any ideas?

I've also a couple of suggestions, not sure if they would be possible. Is there any way to allow subscriptions to the download "threads"? And would it be possible to see the author name in the listings view, currently it's thumbnail/description/time but author name would be nice.

hi jelle
when i was using vb3.8, i had added extensions that were allowed. after upgrading to vb4, i didnt check but now i am getting error:

You may only upload or link to the following extensions:

whenever i try uploading a pdf file.

i tried to look up the extensions, but didnt find such option in the settings.

can you please guide me as to what should i do?

nevermind i figured it out.
apparently after upgrading we have to set up the extensions again

No, that's not possible. DownloadsII isn't meant to be a gallery mod.

Is it possible to run 2 'DownloadsII' concurrently on the same vbulletin setup? If so, how would I do this? Would this affect future updates or anything else that would cause problems?

No, that would require to rewrite almost every line of the code. Permissions, tables, ... everything should get another name then. And you would need to update it manually with every release.

downloads.php?do=search is currently hardcoded :)

1. It should work (if you run vB 4.0.2, but I see you do). Do you still have this problem?

All add-ons are appreciated. Not everything can make it into DownloadsII itself, so it's nice for people to decide what they want.

Btw: you can set the "Addon for thread" option for your mod. Then it's displayed as an add-on in this thread.

I've found what might be a potential bug, not sure.

Since installing this mod we've been busy moving our downloads to the new area from the forum. I loved the feature to post the author name, it helped the staff when moving other members downloads as we were able to assign the posts to the rightful authors BUT now posts that we have moved, that we've assigned to other authors are appearing as our downloads on the profile tab and postbit. Any way around this? It should be linked to author name should it not?

Author ≠ Uploader :D

You can change the uploader by editing a file (Assign New Uploader).

My members (registered users) are getting this "Download Limit reached for today"-Message... The Quota is set to "-1" in the Usergroup-Settings? O.o

All the files that i upload no matter what size, download as corrupt and only 1kb ?
I searched the thread and cant find any answers
Apart from that everything is great

I have changed the folder to 777
I have granted all permissions were needed
added extensions i am using winzip is there any special comments or owt i need to put when creating a extension

He is referring to the file listing in DownloadsII. You can edit them like you edit posts in a forum. :)

I am noticing that attached images are not being deleted when the user deletes them from the listing. Is this normal behavior or a bug?

Upgraded successfully - that I can see.

With regard to the folowing in the side columns, On my old "Downloads" they were each on seperate lines with a space (return carriage) between each one, but on the new version, they are side by side in a continuous row and then over to the next line...

How would I seperate these like they were on the old downloads please?

The above sections along with the
Important Information were aligned on the left on the old DownloadsII version too, is that not possible on the new version, Please? No problem, if not.

The new location for the Navigation is going to take some time to get used to too. :)

Oh, One last thing, If I may, Please?..

The "Downloads" tab on the forum home. Would it be possible that you could explain to me if and how I can add a word to the side of it please?
