I am unable to add images. It worked before as I have plenty of images uploaded. Now when I press "Add Image" it just refreshes the page and doesn't load or do anything??
HELLO!!
I have installed DownloadsII and am having a small issue. I am unable to upload an image to the file. I can browse to the image, hit upload and it goes through the motions, but no image is attached. I have checked everything obvious, settings, permissions etc. The Downloads folder is set to 777. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
I have the same problem. Did Anyone find a solution?
I solved the problem.
I write it so maybe could be useful to anyone else.
I missed to declare new extension as image

You could update to 4.0.3 or you can use the vb3.8 version of mod listed in the similar mod section at the top of the page or found here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=120122).

Hmm it seems this addon corrupts downloads near over 40MB+ zips when imported via FTP and AdminCP. Could this addon be not compatible for huge downloads?

I'm having an issue with the font-weight of the subnav item. See www.parallaxgaming.com/forum.php and compare to download.php
Also, because it wasn't answered since I asked, is there any way to exclude files from showing up on the sidebar if uploaded to a specific (i.e. hidden/private) category?

You'll need to look in your server logs and find out what the error is that's causing the blank page. Until you tell us that it is very difficult if not impossible for us to help you.

Depends on what the error is. As I said without the error(s) it's hard to say what the problem is or how to solve it.

Found out it was the permission problem for the php on the server side.
the script works perfectly fine. Thank you very much for making such good add on for vbulletin.
Any news about the VB5 version?
We've just noticed that no one can upload files any longer. Even as an Admin I can't upload a file. At the top of the page is says The following errors occurred when this file was submitted: but then does not list an error code of any type.
Any thoughts on what could be causing the error not to be displayed? I've tried it in multiple styles to make sure that was not messing the display up.

Hi there,
For some reason, the text for the '+ Download' button is a very bright blue which isn't good on the eyes! I can't figure out where I can change it to white text. Where should I go to change this?
Thanks!

I have a problem.
I can upload a file and image fine. However, when I try to click the Download Button after I uploaded the file, I get a "File Not Found" page. But I know the file is there in the "downloads" folder. The images work fine, I click on the image and it brings me to the direct image url.
I think it has to do with the way the DownloadsII System handles the Hash links, because no matter what kind or how big of a file I upload, I always get a "File Not Found" page when I try to download it.
I am on VB 4.1.4 running on a Windows Server 2008R2 Server, using SSL/HTTPS throughout the entire forum, and also using Mod_Rewrite Friendly URLS in VB and with web.config (windows version of .htaccess).
I have tried this on my test forum, and it works fine. I am using the same mods and custom style. However, I am not using SSL on the test site, because its not needed since its just for testing. I am using Mod_Rewrite via VB and web.config on the test site too.
I have tried to solve this issue myself, but I have had no success.

Any hope for a version of this that will work with vB5?
Hi everyone,
hi Jelle.
I´ve installed DownloadsII last week on a 4.2.2. Without changing anything - beside creasting categories - it now has stopped working.
The problem comes in 2 variants:
1. Linking to an external download-location: valid link and files size inserted, but the button "Add Download" is deactivated and without any function.
2. Uploading a file: Serverlimits are max post/upload 100mb and exec time 480sec. valid file, file extension allowed and set up as download-file. Testfile were pdf, zip, doc, txt. Choosing the file via the file-manager from disk activates the "Add download" button. By clicking the ajax loading indicator comes up - and runs 480secs until it´s timed out by the exec time.
Server directory has CHMD 777. In both cases nothing has been uploaded to the server.
Has anyone experienced something similiar? The mod breaks after working perfectly in the beginning. Weird.
Help appreciated.
Don´t wanna sound impatient - but is Jelle still around or is this mod abandoned? Could really need some help on this..
I´ve already tried downloads.php?do=manfiles&act=updatecounters . Unfortunal, this is not working and comes up with an error stating, the security token would be wrong. Another issue is, that there are no avatars displayed beside a comment.
We´ve been over each and every setting with 3 people to get this thing working. Meanwhile our members are annoyed, that it isn´t usable anymore.
Anyone out there, who could give us a hand on that?

Hello,
I've just installed this mod but I have a little problem.
I have a white page when trying to acces the admincp options (appart from the "Settings" that I can modify) :
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2014/08/45.png
I did that :
1/ Upload the files in the upload folder to my ftp
2/ Import the product
3/ Chmod "downloads" folder to 777
Edit : I'm using 4.2.2, PHP 5.4
I can see however the downloads.php :
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2014/08/46.png
Edit : it's really weird, because I can acces to the other options if I do a right clic > open in a new window. But I still get a blank page if I just left click on the other options.

Wrong log, that's your server log. You need your webserver log (e.g. apache error log) and/or your database log (e.g. mysql error log). One of those will likely have the error message you're looking for.
Have you renamed your admincp/modcp? If so when uploading the files you need to take that into account.
MusiquesElectro
08-07-2014, 02:43 PM
Admincp and modcp are note renamed.
Sorry I am still a newbie in webmastering. This should be the correct log : http://va3jtxr206.1fichier.com/
I'm on a "shared (mutalized)" host, so maybe I have not acces to the mysql log.
squidsk

That's your apache access log (shows what files are being requested and by whom), in the same location, probably, or possibly in your forum root there should be an error log. If its in your forum root it might be called php_errors.

@squidsk : problem half fixes. In fact the white screens and problems in the displaying are only occuring with Opera navigator.
It works fine on Chrome. So I think there is a problem somewhere with the module about navigators. What is your opinion ?
Edit : another question. Is it possible to remove the "number of downloads" from the messages view (and only keep the number of uploads) ?
Edit 2 : is it possible to add the new downloads to the activity bloc and creating notifications for comments about downloads ?

How To Fix UPLOAD LIMIT on GoDaddy
I have been scratching my head for 2 days trying to use DownloadsII addon with Godaddy under Linux. (yes I know what some will say about GoDaddy).
When I upload a file it will not accept it unless the file is 2mb or smaller, any bigger I get an error. Yes I tried all the permissions and settings in DownloadsII for the various extensions, I set it at 50mb even more for zip files etc and still no solution. I set the groups permissions, just about everything was tried.
What I learned: Forget all the posts you read about using ".htacccess" file and adding code into it.
That just crashes your forum instantly with a 500 error. You then need to go in via the CPanel and edit out all the code to get your forum working again.
THE REAL SOLUTION:
1) Make sure you have DownloadsII installed properly and set it up to be able to send files of the type and size you want and make sure you have your server side folder is created with permission set right etc. etc.
2) Go into Godaddy Cpanel and into files and go into the "Public_Html" root folder and using the cpanel create a file called ".user.ini" (Remember the "." in the front.) This file is made directly in the Public_Html folder and not any sub folder.
3) Now edit the file and add this code to the file
file_uploads = On
post_max_size = 50M
upload_max_filesize = 50M
3A) Now Save the file.
This assumes you want 50mb as the maximum. You can change it to what you want but I think the entry level accounts are 32mb and the level 2 are 128mb. I have level 2 but opted to keep the uploads to a max of 50mb. Call GoDaddy if you want to upgrade your account, but I am sure it will cost a few extra $ per month.
Up to this point I have seen some of the above on the Internet but it still did not work. The next bit was what made it work.
4) Now that you have the file in place go back into the first page of CPanel and at the top right you will have a search area. Type in PHP in the search. On the third row of results you should see "php processes", Click it and at the top right you should see "Kill Processes". Press it to kill the current processes.
5) Go back to the main panel and in the search type in "php" again and look down to the 4th Row and you should see "Select php Version" Press that.
6) If your current version shows as 5.3 your already good to go and can skip the next steps.
7) If it shows 5.4 or 5.5 then you need to use the drop down button next to your version number and select 5.3 then press "Set As Current" and then Press "Save".
8) Now exit and you should be good to with uploading files to the size you set in the .user.ini or whatever limit your account has. If your unsure call Godaddy and they will tell you what your limit is.
Hope this helps someone, I teared out my hair trying to get this to work. I was also lucky enough to talk to a great tech at GoDaddy named Andrew who lead me on the right path.

Yes and why not, this mod still functions perfectly fine and some of the features we get for free with this mod I'd have to pay for with the DBTech mod.

Wondering if anyone can help me with this problem?
I create calendar events for car shows. I upload the flyer to Downloads II. I then right click the "Download" button and copy the link source to the clipboard and paste it into the calendar event so folks can download it.
This all worked perfectly until this latest version and vb4.2.2.
Here is the link it creates for one of the files:
https://forums.thevfmc.org/downloads.php?do=file&id=600&act=down&actionhash=1409934479-e27cfbd1cecbf3c2a5d4b671684f6d3ca8ac7c28
So, the link seems to work for one day just fine. After that, we get the invalid security token error. When I go back and right click the "Download" button the next day, everything after the last = is different.
I guess it changes daily.
Is there a work around for this?
Thanks
squidsk

No there is no workaround. That is there as a security feature, similar to the security token in other parts of vbulletin.
Each user will have their own security token for that specific session of activity within vbulletin and if the security token (or actionhash as its called in DownloadsII) doesn't match the security token for the user clicking the link they will get that message.

Okay, thanks. I will just post the link to the file in the Downloads app and they will have to click download.
Thanks for the reply.

I've been using this mod for ages with no issues but now suddenly we're getting "Sorry, you have exceeded your daily download amount" messages. All the usergroup settings are set to -1 so there should be no download limits in place. Plus, we only link to files on file hosts such as media fire, we don't host the files ourselves so not sure why we're seeing this issue. It's happening for admin as well as regular users...Any ideas if there's another setting I should be looking at?

As someone mentioned the image & video bbcodes are not being imported to the editor
I guess it is caused by some permission/parameters issue. Anybody could suggest a way to force them?
Thank you.

We moved a vBulletin 4.1 installation to a new server and upgraded to v4.2.2; everything works fine but all the links to DownloadsII have disappeared. That doesn't make much sense to me.
I've tried reverting templates and disabling/reenabling but it hasn't made any difference. It's as if all the hooks that were previously being used have disappeared. I can get to the system by going directly to /downloads.php but the navigation and profile links have all gone.
It's the latest version of Downloads II, 6.0.9.
The new server is running Suhosin but there's nothing in the logs suggesting that anything on this site has been blocked by it. All the settings in the control panel for DownloadsII seem normal. I've searched through all PHP files and the entire DB looking for any incorrect server paths, found nothing. Any ideas what could have done this?

Starting with vb4.2 there's a new navigation manager, and the old method of adding tabs no longers works. Go to the navigation manager in admincp (acp->settings->navigation manager) and add in a tab to the downloads page.

Nope, vb5 has basically no mods since when they developed vb5 they removed the hook system that is used by virtually all complex mods for vb3/vb4 so they can't be ported to vb5 without making changes to the core code.

I just upgraded from the vb3.x version of this - having an issue with the bulk import. I'm putting in my absolute path to the folder correctly, and the folder is 777 (along with all the files). When I go to do a bulk import, it doesn't find any files.
What'd I miss? Any insight would be awesome.

Why are you doing a bulk import? If you ran the upgrade script for upgrading from vb3 to vb4 then all your existing downloads should still be there. IIRC only two things aren't transfered when you upgrade from vb3 to vb4, the rating for each download and the file types you're allowing to be uploaded.

Thanks for the reply man. The upgrade script didn't work for me - I don't recall exactly what the failure was (I was doing a full upgrade from vb3 and there were plenty of DB errors that day). I have no problem if I lose the old descriptions - I still have the files and am just trying to point the new install at them and enter them by hand. I'm just not sure why the bulk uploader doesn't see any of the files that are there so that I can get started on it.
Edit: I re-ran the install/upload and upgrade script, and I'm good to go now. Not sure what I missed the first time around but I'm set. Cheers dude.

No, it will not work for any version vbulletin 5, same as pretty well all other modifications for vb4/vb3. This has been answered three times now on this page alone by me, including the post above yours. Please look to see if your question has been previously answered before asking it.

Starting with vb4.2 there's a new navigation manager, and the old method of adding tabs no longers works. Go to the navigation manager in admincp (acp->settings->navigation manager) and add in a tab to the downloads page.
So, in the adding a tab section, do you (or anyone) have any insight into what should go int the "Target URL" and "Tab Script" fields for this mod? It's been years since I've had to do anything like this and trying to get my brain familiar with how this all works again. So far no luck getting it to show up on my navigation bar.
Updated: solved. Should have just edited this instead of posting below, but haven't been on a forum in awhile. @_@

Update: I did it! I had to turn off the navbar tab in the DownloadsII Options before adding it to the new navbar manager.

thank you RS_Jelle for this mod, it works very good.
I am doing some modifications to the template but now i am blocked on a thing, i want to display on the left a new sidebar with the list of the main categories (the ones displayed when i go to forum.com/downloads.php), how can i do this without link to the category id? If i link directly to the category (ex: forum.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=2) it works without problem, but if i made changes to the category obviously i have to rewrite the template.
How can i call only the main category like this way:
href="downloads.php?{vb:raw session.sessionurl}do=cat&id={vb:raw cat.id}"
Any help is appreciated

Firstly thanks for creating this mod!
I've installed it and am attempting to import my existing files. Unfortunately this is presenting some problems.
I have some large files (up to 900MB) and the import is failing due to hitting the Physical Memory, I/O Usage and Execution Time limits imposed on my shared hosting environment. The problem seems stem from the fact that the mod is copying the files from the relative directory I enter in the first part of the import into the /downloads directory.
Is there any way I can import files without the script copying files internally?
Thanks in advance.

I solved the problem for myself by figuring out a way to copy the download data from my previous download system directly into the database tables, bypassing the import tool entirely. I posted the info at https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=2572525&postcount=2048

Hi, DownloadII is working fine on vB 4.2.3 but the only error I can see is that in the Users' Profile, in the Downloads section, the result appears aligned to the right, while the rest of the results are well aligned to the left. I've looked at downloads2_postbit, but there I do not know what to do. I would appreciate your help.
Thank you very much.

Thank you for your very well done work.

Is .pdf an allowed extension?
Is the file <= the allowed size?
As for the language file, just exported ours.
Note: not everything is translated, esp. not in the ACP.

There is probably an upload limit for php.
Ask your hoster about the "upload_max_filesize" setting.

I've been using DownloadsII for a long time and might need to shut my site down because the host just notified me that there is a forced PHP upgrade to 7.2, I discovered that VB 3.8 or 4.2 do not support PHP 7.2.
I have a license for VB5 but from what I gather, it looks like a DownloadsII database can't be imported and won't work with VB5. I have close to 4,000 downloads that I don't want to lose.
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on any possible importing of the DownloadsII database, perhaps to a different cms? Did any of you move on to a different download system?
Thank You

I can't help you about this.
In the past, some times, I think in upgrade vb 4.2.5 to 5.x, but this is (with others) reasons for not upgrade, Downloads II for me its important (not like you) but its important, and in vb 5.x I don't view any similar to Downloads II,,,
This isn't only the reason for not upgrade, I have more reasons, but this reason, its important...

Any chance you can move to a dedicated server and retain the legacy php ?
Any chance you can move to a dedicated server and retain the legacy php ?
According to what I understand from the partner's question is, if there is any other Downloads system for either vb 5.x or another CMS.
Downloads II is only compatible up to vb 4.2.5, for vb 5.x it does not exist and there is no way to export / import the downloads generated by Downloads II in vb 5.x.
If this were so, if there were Downloads II in vb 5.x maybe I would consider uploading to vb 5.x (but maybe, there are other buts that I would have to shuffle ...).
I say this because the partner indicates he has a vb 5.x license.
However, as you very well say, your solution would be to migrate from server, I am in a VPS and I can select the version of PHP that I want, even 5.x.
If the partner's hosting forces him to move to PHP 7.2, he has that option, migrate from hosting to a VPS or similar where he himself selects the version of PHP he wants.

Thanks for the information, I was just hoping there was a different Downloads program that could import DownloadsII and would work with PHP 7.2. I once tried vBDownloads but that also wouldn't work.
My site is a labor of love about my passion for pinball and in April would be 17 years old. I don't earn money but have rare donations that doesn't cover my shared dreamhost bill of $190.00 every 2 years. I looked at dedicated server pricing and that is not a option for me.
I just started to look into a VPS (didn't know that you could select a php version) but due to my storage amount of over 30GB would have to pay $20.00 per month for the next VPS tier from dreamhost which would more than double my bill, don't think I could pay that amount but will try to find other VPS options. Any suggestions about VPS hosting plans?
Thank You
I currently manage my site in a VPS that of all those I've tried in the 14 years of my site's life, is the best by far, good hardware, good price ... but I think it exceeds your budget.
Any VPS will always be more expensive than a shared server (which is what you have now).
In any VPS you can select which version of php to use, and in many shared servers, too, you don't know that dreamhost doesn't allow it.
A VPS is like a dedicated server, but it is virtualized. You don't need the resources of a dedicated, but it is, like a dedicated.
In which I am, I am delighted, that yes, it is self managed, I mean, you must do everything, whatever you need to change on the server / VPS you must do it. It's not like others who give you the service to do everything (called full managed) but of course, the bill at the end of the month is higher.
Don't worry or be scared, administering a VPS is not that difficult, and there are guidelines for everything.
If you are still interested, I can tell you where I am, but you go to 16.99€ per month (this includes the VPS and the cPanel license).
Greetings.

I just received a response from my hosting company (Dreamhost) and they mentioned this to me:
PHP 5.6 is going to be
completely removed from our servers no matter what. Even getting a VPS
machine will only give a bit more of time, but in a couple of weeks it
will be completely removed from there as well.
It looks like moving to a different hosting company for 5.6 might only be delaying problems down the road. I started researching XenForo and found this older DownloadsII importer:
https://xenforo.com/community/resources/downloadsii-xenforo-resource-manager-importer.4465/
Just in case others are trying to find solutions in the future, I might be trying this in a effort to save my site.

Hello, for those who had 'Internal Server Error'. Read this.
You have to do everything mention here before : check your max mb upload size, do chmod 777 download folder, set usergroups to [allow download], set extensions [pdf 64mb.., jpg 10mb.. etc]. And you have to leave Mime Type & Headers clean, dont type anything or you will get Internal server Error. Good luck.
