stop defending the script like its the best thing god created you are more on his nuts then pubic hair ( sorry if that offends you ) i like the hack i think its great but even with the original hack it had problems with score submissions and thats from the original author v3arcade will have problems too all hacks have problems. its a public hack and i made a public comment about the hack. and all i said is that has been a problem since invision board. you make it like i said this hack is garbage and anyone using it is a fool... the onlything i seen wrong with the hack is the fact i didnt like a style it was feedback.. you are taking everything like you busted your arse for the last 9 months writing the script and its your baby. jesus dude i like the damn script i dont like problems with score submitting though like no one does. i would say the same thing in any other hack. in your eyes were suppose to worship this script. free hacks deserve free praise and free criticism and therefore i gave it. this has been a running problem that should of been the first thing adressed and for your excuse that its because of other hacks. Is that a good reason ? the creator should of known people would of had other hacks installed i installed this hack on one of my forums and didnt face a problem with it but whatever ya want to cry because i said this problem should of been fixed when chris did it for invision board.

I believe that it should go both ways as far as bashing or fact finding for v3arcade and ibProArcade. It was announced by John that v3 had this in it. Unless someone can say for a fact citing example, code, whatever where it is a problem, then it should not be made an arguement for one or the other. For that matter, you may as well say that because vBulletin software talks to the Jelsoft servers that it is only inviting problems and complaints.

Quite honestly, I think what John is doing may be the more author-friendly (sure-fired legal) approach for approved games and a user-friendly approach for those that want a game all they have to do is get it from the "approved" list and the AdminCP grabs it from John and installs it. That will not stop others from converting games for it. I have not viewed either arcade nor their code, so I cannot say I like either new version yet. Yes, I chose v3 before, but that does not mean I would pick it now over ibPro until I see them for myself.

Before anyone gets off to say this is a bash or starts the flames, I am looking for facts, not opinions. If someone says that something is happening, I would like to see the proof of it. I wonder if some of those (honestly) are going off of what has been stated and working off of assumption or they have seen it for themselves by installing and viewing the arcade code. I will be downloading ibProArcade and v3arcade tonight and will do my own comparisons. Although you were quoted, the above comment was not directed at you, Boofo.

Well I guess vBulletin is wrong too, since it connects to their server. And it does it without even telling you it's doing it. With v3Arcade it's only if you click a link that basically says "Click here to download a list of available games.", so, you know that it's going to go somewhere to pull a list.

Appreciate them or don't. They're my perspective after following through the thread. If they're unfair, then perhaps my perspective is somehow skewed, but I'm just calling it as I saw it. I was surprised in several of your posts to see you taking thinly veiled shots at v3a. Not sure what the point is.

Frankly, I'm glad both arcades are out here. I'm glad we have options. I just don't know why it's turned into a confrontational issue.

i see no wrong in it connecting to a server. the choice is yours you dont have to connect and download games from the v3arcade server you can manually install them all day. its just a option if you want to download games from there server you connect it sends the game it disconnects.

I can understand the bickering but I just would like to get a step by step in reolving my issue:

Have you checked it in other usergroups? The only ones who should be able to see that are staff. Check your arcade usergroup settings. ;)

Nicely said, and entirely true. For what it's worth, your involvement with this project is largely what drew me in to check it out. Nothing personal whatsoever with my earlier comments -- like I said, I just didn't see the point of open combativeness between projects in a community site like this. As a license holder with zero coding ability, guys like you, John, Zero, even Jenta are saints in my eyes, as you bring extra functionality to our sites. All I can offer in return is my appreciation, and everyone who contributes to this site has it. I just don't like to see *any* modification or author take unnecessary shots.

Im guessing MrZ decided not to include any portal issues in the documentation due to how many there are floating around. I have not come accross any such score submit issues with vbp like I beleive I have read about here with mkportal and vba CMPS

Can you get some links to some of the fixes? We will add them to the first post so everyone has a place to go to for any problems that might arise. The reason we didn't include any portal info is because we don't run portals and like you said that are a few around so it would be hard to have any fixes for them unless we installed them all and thoroughly tested them. Zero was mainly concerned on getting this out and to the users since they had waited so patiently for it. ;)

Im not sure if it's been posted yet but a workaround to the db_driver errors in mkportal you will need to find an replace db_driver with db_driver_ib in all the arcade files.

There is 6 occurences in total Here's a list of changes

In arcade.php
Find :
$DB = new db_driver;
Replace:
$DB = new db_driver_ib;

In admincp/arcade.php
Find :
$DB = new db_driver;
Replace:
$DB = new db_driver_ib;

In functions/dbclass.php
Find :
class db_driver {
Replace:
class db_driver_ib {

Now if you have 3.0.x You will need to do these changes aswell
In installer_xx.php either en or de depending on your language
Find :
$DB = new db_driver;
Replace:
$DB = new db_driver_ib;]

In uninstaller.php Probably not needed as there will be no need to remove this wonderful hack :)

Yes, sir, that looks right. See the post above this one as that might help you more since it is about mkportal. I wish I could be of more helop, but I don't run any portals. Hopefully, someone will come up with an answer that will help you and if I hear of anything, I will contact you immediately with a fix. ;)

I changed a total of 3 files and after finishing a game instead of the error, I received:
Your score won't be stored in Database because the Arcade only saves users top score per Game.

For those of you with mkportal, please look for all 6 of the files listed above in JT's post and changed the one instance in each from:

To:

I only had three since I just installed this on my vB 3.5.1 and followed the install instructions to the T.
The three files I changed where:

functions/dbclass.php
admincp/arcade.php
and
arcade.php

*Also, please disregard the index.php file changes posted in prior suggestions as it had no effect on my Arcade and portal.

are you serious? that's a huge file to be searching through to remove spaces.. besides shouldn't that have been something that was made that way for a reason?

i've been messing with this all day I guess I'm just going to have to un-install it. I don't know enough about PHP to make it work.

Have it working and it is great. One question, when I edit permissions and say that a group "can't view or play", why is there a link in the navbar for "Arcade". Shouldn't it be invisible for this group.

Yes, but all other 3.5.x-Hacks do not hae that "auto detection" included that makes the PHP-script work on vB 3.0.x and 3.5.x :)
So make sure your Templateversion is not 3.0.x to make the script notice that it is running on vB 3.5.x

Well I noticed that when I logged in to the Admin CP it said somethign baout reverting the Arcade template so i did that and it still does not work. All my templates are up to date acording to the vB templaet check.

I only had three since I just installed this on my vB 3.5.1 and followed the install instructions to the T.
The three files I changed where:

admincp/arcade.php
and
arcade.php

*Also, please disregard the index.php file changes posted in prior suggestions as it had no effect on my Arcade and portal.

I'd guess that the arcade_pmactive field didnt get created on the user table.
Assumming your not using prefixes which from the rror abve your not try running this query in phpmyadmin, Before doing so just check if the field already exists but i doubt it does.

You need to complete it , some games will auto submit, some you have to click ok/submit/post score etc...

Reason I ask is I was installing the files from ibProArcade_v2.5.3+ DIR on my hard drive but it seems as though when I redownloaded it NOW i got a diffrent version when I compared arcade.php. It looks as though the Arcade.php I had was for the IPB version as there were alot of IPB strings in there. I will turn on guest permision for my arcase as it looks weird. I am about to do a reisntall and hope this solves the problem.

Are you serious. "<php" is at the very top of the arcade.php file and "?>" is at the very bottom of the arcade.php file. In my experience it's spaces before the opening php tag ("<?php") and spaces after the closing php tag ("?>") that causes headers already sent errors. And the spaces are usually inserted by using incompatible html editors to view the file.

There are 2 skins you can choose from in the arcade settings. You can also edit the php files directly...if you are comfortable doing that.

This hack has just been released so look for 3rd party modifications real soon. I would think someone will share their custom layouts.

15 is the default limit, you would have to edit arcade.php to show more or less.

Im not sure if it's been posted yet but a workaround to the db_driver errors in mkportal you will need to find an replace db_driver with db_driver_ib in all the arcade files.

There is 6 occurences in total Here's a list of changes

In arcade.php
Find :
$DB = new db_driver;
Replace:
$DB = new db_driver_ib;

In admincp/arcade.php
Find :
$DB = new db_driver;
Replace:
$DB = new db_driver_ib;

In functions/dbclass.php
Find :
class db_driver {
Replace:
class db_driver_ib {

Now if you have 3.0.x You will need to do these changes aswell
In installer_xx.php either en or de depending on your language

The instructions are in the .zip file as stated earlier...open up the file as per your vb version..:)...also have you copied over the files as per the instructions?


Pardon my ignorance, but never used ibpro before, but after an install of a game, there remains the .zip or .tar file. Is that file able to be removed no worried or is it required to remain in the folder and if it can be removed which is correct method to do so - via Add Games in AdminCP or just remove the file via FTP?

Archive are kept for later re-installation, but also can be removed. You can do this in AdminCP in the "Add Game" section, all installed Games will be listed there and you can click "REMOVE" to remove the Archive, or you just use FTP

We can't cover every known situation on installation instrucutions, I wish we could. Some things just need to be left up to the person installing to know if they had another arcade installed earlier, or a portal, or whatever can crop up in the many different ways a site is put together and running before installing this arcade. There are too many variables to be able to catch them all. ;)

Ok here's one: The zip installer doesn't work in my installation and I get a message about the zip not being compatible. But I think the zips contain the wrong files. What I have are the files for the swf and images and a text file telling me what to enter into the Add Game fields to install the game. Doing that manually installs the game perfectly.

What files are supposed to be in the zip for it to be compatible?

Am i missing something with Mkportal, using MKportal 1.1 and vb 3.51 i had no issues with the install. What version are you using?

Are there more integration steps that need to be done beyond the default install and the editing of functions.php?

(Probably shouldnt be asking that here but it's for the better good of the arcade, feel free to move if needed)

The same Versions - i had no issues at installing only the Topmenu from MKPortal is missing at arcade.php - it is using a other Headerconfiguration. How can i make it the same as the forum/index.php look ?

Ok here's one: The zip installer doesn't work in my installation and I get a message about the zip not being compatible. But I think the zips contain the wrong files. What I have are the files for the swf and images and a text file telling me what to enter into the Add Game fields to install the game. Doing that manually installs the game perfectly.

What files are supposed to be in the zip for it to be compatible?

It's not (just) the files inside the zip, it can be the zip itself too. Probably different compression level or slight differences in programs creating it.

Ok.. I'm having 3 problems..

The list page appears but I get a "Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in \admincp\arcade.php on line 3630" warning above the header.. This appears no matter which user I choose... From the main arcade index I click "Arcade ModCP" and then go on to create a tournament of any members and any games/matches...etc.. normal settings in any combination. I click "Confirm", the page displays a message telling me its be placed in the roaster and then I get a SQL error...(see Pic2) This doesn't happen if I create a tournament in the AdminCP.

This may be connected to Problem 2, I create a tournament in the AdminCP, any combination or players/matches etc... Myself being one of the players. I receive a PM saying I'm in the tournament. I go into the tournament tree and click "Play" below my name only to get the game screen with no game, just a narrow strip where the game should be.. (see pic3) This happens if I create a tournament in either Arcade ModCp or in the AdminCP.

Hope you can help me with these... I have V3Arcade installed on my main board right now, but I will be switching to your version if these problems can b fixed as it has much more on offer..

I'd guess that the arcade_pmactive field didnt get created on the user table.
Assumming your not using prefixes which from the rror abve your not try running this query in phpmyadmin, Before doing so just check if the field already exists but i doubt it does.

I installed this yesterday and it worked fine. I am moving from a different server and when the database was moved to the new one, the arcade disappeared. I re did all of the editing, but now I get this...and am totally lost

Sure - you have to enable the Integration at the PortalAdmin - "Show Forum inside Portal" after you have made the File Change. That is the most important Thing on this Portal. :D

If it is in zip format upload it to the folder named zip.
Log into your admin control panel and on the left there is an arcade menu.
Click on Add Game.
Scroll to the bottom of the page that comes up and click install for the game you uploaded.

ok i fixed my problems what i had to do was comment out all the db queries in the install script took me 3 hours to go through thm 1by 1 but the arcade is now working except for the 80+ of the default games each lol thanks Mrzero for the new arcade

...if you want to add the game manually wether its a v3arcade or ibproarcade game......place the .swf file in the arcade folder....then place the .gif's in the arcade/images folder......then go to add game in the admin cp and put in the name of the game.....the gname is usually the name of the game with no spaces....for example say I was adding a game called race driving....the gname would be racedriving......you can then add the width and height or leave at default then check how it looks.

Solved my problem of not being able to send scores :)
I had the old ibProArcade and ran the installer to update to this version, for some reason it duplicated some of the old games .. removed duplicated / re-installed the games and all now works well.

Everything is working GREAT! Except one issue.
When I go to my PM that issues after creating a tournament with another player and I, I click on link in PM and it just pulles up the following image:

I selected match 1 for both us and he gets same image.

MrZ I had an error updating the beta to this seems the product import wudnt make the game_pr field but it was fine after I added it manually. Dunno if this has allready been mentioned its a long thread to go thru.

@ Boofo the vbportal thread concerning displaying left column, leftcolumn switcher etc is in the premium members restricted access section a link to it may not suit but I can get it for you if you want, I would say its best to just point users to the http://www.phpportals.com site and use search for ibproarcade threads. There arent that many that it would take hours of trawling to find them. ;)

Wonder if theres a way to cache that data daily or something with a cron job and eliminate the queries. I don't see a need for it to be a real time statistic.

EDIT- fixed. I took out teh v3 compatable code from the arcade.php and poof. I guess it was related to v3 being installed and uninstalled.

As you can see from the image, the Arcade button on my forum seems raised/embossed compared to the others, the style i use is by vBstyles.com (dunno if that helps), is there a way I can solve this so that all the buttons in my header are the same flat smooth?

3. Copy and paste that class value in the <td class="**here***"> in the code for arcade link below and you done!!

If you mean to display this portals elements on arcade pages that are normally included in forum pages I would guess you need to add the relevant globals similar to vbportals needs but obviosly not the same ones.

file phrases against db phrases is swings and roundabouts really, what you lose with one you gain with the other. For the other point I would guess it would mean a 100% rewrite which would make it not ibproarcade at all really, except it would function in a similar way. To acheive that would take a lot more time than people would be willing to wait. Still what comes in the future is any bodies guess, but i doubt if it needs as much as I believe it would to achieve that, that it would happen overnight.

Find:

I installed exactly as the instructions said, but when I go to my arcade page, it is completely blank. All the admin settings are there and the database tables have been created and filled. I checked all the user permissions too. Can someone tell me what to do?

There is also a problem with permissions bassed on post count. It doesn't work.

I used to allow new members to play games after one post but this no longer works regardless of the post count in the ACP.

I have noticed a HUGE bug: if you open a second game in a new tab while playing the first, it will submit the score for the first game to the second game! Basically, if someone wanted to get a high score on Simon, they could open up Castle Defense, accumulate a huge score, and then, before dying, open up Simon in a new window. Then, upon submitting the score, it will be posted to Simon rather than Castle Defense.

2. Yes. All players to participate in match must be in one.
3. You must complete 3 attempts to finalize the tournament. Once done, it will update and show who won the tournament.

no I atmpt to play but all it does is take me to a screen with the game icon and says the score I have to beat if I press play, I dont play any games I have no chanch to I do this 3 times and it says I have lost even though I have not played any games :o :ermm: :mad: :devious: :tired: :ninja: :disappointed:
