That error is not related to vBShout, the hook in question is process_templates_complete and the contents of that hook is require_once(DIR . '/dbtech/vbshout/includes/hooks/process_templates_complete.php');

Thanks again!Unfortunately that's not incredibly easy, you need to switch to manual deployment of the instance and then add it to the navbar template with a <vb:if condition="THIS_SCRIPT != 'vbcms'"> around it.

That means your SQL server died. If you're on a shared host, you may be running out of resources.

Generally speaking, forums that receive errors like that should contact their web hosts and see if it happened due to MySQL shutting down because of excess use and if so, consider upgrading to a more powerful hosting plan.

Hello all, was hoping I could run this by some of you for advice.

I followed the Read Me directions to what I believe to the letter, but I'm obviously not.

Using WS_FTP, I uploaded the "Upload" folder into my forum's directory (Forums) and set the CHMOD to 0777 (read,write,execute). When I try and import the 'product-dbtech_vbshout' I get the error message...

Either /home/rofo/public_html/forums/dbtech/vbshout/install/core.php or /home/rofo/public_html/forums/dbtech/vbshout/install/finalise.php is missing!

Can someone point me to the right direction in resolving this? I also tried uploading the file directly to 'public_html'. Same error.

I really appreciate any help at getting this great MOD on my website. Thanks

Sorry for the delay, and thank you for your time. My backup I loaded didnt take well, and I now have a fresh copy and have to start over, sadly. Lot's of work lost, but I learned from my mistake for sure.

The input area works off of two StyleVars:
input_background and control_focus_background. The first is before the user selected the input area, and the 2nd is while the user is typing.

The actual shouts' background area works off of the postbit_background StyleVar.

A post marker is a message in the shoutbox, to say when a user has reached a certain amount of posts in intervals. For example, if you inserted 100 for this setting, everytime a user hit 100, 200, 300, etc.. posts, the shoutbox would display a message saying so automatically.

Set as 0 to disable.

He is using 3.7.3 He has a Xmas Style, Pioneer Style and the Default style.
It works on the Xmas Style, wont work on the other 2 styles..

I shut down every other mod he has and still only works on the Xmas Style.

To put vBShout in a custom location, do the following:


Step 1: AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout-> Instance Management -> [Edit].

Step 2: Change the Auto-Display Shoutbox setting to Disabled.

Step 3: Change the Shoutbox Deployment setting to include the script names of all the pages you wish the Shoutbox to appear on. For instance:
To have it appear on the front page (CMS) as well as the Forum Home, you'd enter index,vbcms for this setting.
To have it appear on every page, you'd remove the contents of this setting.

Step 4: Change the Manually Display Shoutbox setting to include the template names you wish the Shoutbox to appear on. For instance:
To have it appear on the front page (CMS) as well as the Forum Home, you'd enter FORUMHOME,vbcms_page for this setting.
To have it appear on every page, you'd enter navbar for this setting.

Step 5: Enter the Style Manager and add either {vb:raw vbshout} (vB4) or {$vbshout} (vB3) to the templates you named in Step 4 in the desired location.


Follow these steps as described and you will have total control over the position of the Shoutbox.
Please note that some locations may not work as intended on vBulletin 3.8, and also note that it is not designed to go in the Forum Blocks side-bar (vBulletin 4).

Step 1: AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout-> Instance Management -> [Edit].

Step 2: Change the Auto-Display Shoutbox setting to Disabled.

Step 3: Change the Shoutbox Deployment setting to include the script names of all the pages you wish the Shoutbox to appear on. For instance:
To have it appear on the front page (CMS) as well as the Forum Home, you'd enter index,vbcms for this setting.
To have it appear on every page, you'd remove the contents of this setting.

Step 4: Change the Manually Display Shoutbox setting to include the template names you wish the Shoutbox to appear on. For instance:
To have it appear on the front page (CMS) as well as the Forum Home, you'd enter FORUMHOME,vbcms_page for this setting.
To have it appear on every page, you'd enter navbar for this setting.

Step 5: Enter the Style Manager and add either {vb:raw vbshout} (vB4) or {$vbshout} (vB3) to the templates you named in Step 4 in the desired location.


Follow these steps as described and you will have total control over the position of the Shoutbox.
Please note that some locations may not work as intended on vBulletin 3.8, and also note that it is not designed to go in the Forum Blocks side-bar (vBulletin 4).

It does help a bit I have a forum area that is for adults only and i want a separate instance for that one. I have a chat instance on the index page which is fine. I want a 2nd instance on the main page of the adult area. I am running VB 4.1.1,

or am I just repeating myself.

To do it in a specific forum, you need to switch to manual deployment, add it to FORUMDISPLAY template and wrap it in this:
<vb:if condition="$foruminfo['forumid'] == x"></vb:if>

Where x is your forum id.

hi,
i upgraded my old version(well, i forgot what version it was.. some 3.x version i think) and encountered some strange behavior with the new reply notices.

we have 4 rooms running.
when i write in our 3 added rooms the primary(preinstalled) room every time shows the sign of a new reply when i write something.
this stays while i'm switchin' between the 3 added rooms until i enter the primary, even there is no new reply.

i hope this description was usefull...

vBShout can be detached, after detaching it's actually new window (or tab, depends on your browser) and you can use it that way.

What am I missing? I want the vbshout to be in my header above everything else. So I DISABLED the function where it says to put it below the navbar or in the footer. Then in the MANUAL box I put "header" because that's the template. And then in the "header" template, I put the {vb:raw vbshout} in there as line 1.

But nothing shows up. vbshout works and displays perfectly when I tell it to be at the navbar.

Is it because I have a custom style? And I have to do something more than just put "header"? I have to somehow put StyleName:header or something goofy like that? I'm at a loss here.

Wanting to get it all tweaked correctly before I bother with going Pro.

The input area works off of two StyleVars:
input_background and control_focus_background. The first is before the user selected the input area, and the 2nd is while the user is typing.

The actual shouts' background area works off of the postbit_background StyleVar.

I installed this mod on the board, but only 2 people are able to use it...Me in a superadmin account I created when I installed VB, and another admin. I am the co-owner of the board and have all my permissions set to yes. When I log into my normal account, the box isn't there. And I'm pretty sure that I installed it from my regular account and then it said I lacked the proper permissions even with everything turned on

To put vBShout in a custom location, do the following:

Step 3: Write down the the Varname setting. For the default shoutbox, it's instance1. The rest of this guide will assume you replace instance1 with the actual Varname if it is different.

Step 4: Enter the Style Manager and add {vb:raw show.vbshout_instance1} to the navbar template beneath the {vb:raw ad_location.global_below_navbar}

GLITCHED. In the AdminCP>Instance Manager> In chat room setting, you used to be able to specify what pages it shows on. It even still says:
Auto-Display Shoutbox
This setting controls whether the Shoutbox will automatically be added to the pages you specify above.
Selecting "Disabled" means you need to add a variable to all relevant templates manually.
For more information, see Admin Help.

But there is no box or any options "above" to specify any pages. Or did my install just goof?

Thanks to your diligence in reporting vBShout issues, we've seen it fit to release v5.4.3.

It fixes the following issues:


Suhosin users should no longer find the Permissions and BBCode Permissions erased upon saving the Instance Options form.
Please note that it is still required to submit the 3 forms separately, the top form will simply not erase any previous changes you have made to the bottom ones anymore.
The Shoutbox can now once again be placed on the vB CMS on vB4
It is now once again possible to determine if you have been flagged Idle if the Shout Order is set to Oldest First
If you had more than one instance per page, it was possible for the Shoutbox to be stuck on Loading. This has now been corrected.
The Shoutbox will now properly display times for shouts made in a global chatroom
Deleting or posting a shout in a chat room will no longer show the contents of the "Shoutbox" tab until the shouts refresh again
BBCode parsing for notifications should now once again work as intended
The Auto-Idle function should now function correctly

Installed 5.4.3 on 4.1.1 (4.1.3 upgrade planned for this weekend) and have a few issues

1. URL BBCode is not being processed correctly. It just displays with the [URL] bbcode on the shout line, and not converting it into a <a href> as expected.
2. Notifications in ACP is blank like for demo7up above. I'm at a loss on how to enable notifications for the forums for new threads and replies.
3. Posting a shout into a chatroom results in the SB refreshing to the main chatroom and not the chatroom just posted in - however it seems I am still in that chatroom and all shouts are posted there and not the main chatroom. And should someone else post in the chatroom I'm automatically brought back to it.
4. The sounds system constantly issues a sound every refresh - not sure which one of the sounds is issuing yet - am doing some more work on that.
5. On selecting avatars for the detached page (I'm running Pro) the avatars won't display unless I enable the general avatars, and then I only get the size that I have for the normal display - I would like to increase them for the detached display.
6. Is it possible to remove the Active Users Tab when I have the Active Users block enabled? Doesn't make sense to have both...

And a Q - does the auto-delete of posts work across all chatrooms, or just the main one.. Am hoping the latter...

installed on 4.1.2 (install version mod is 5.4.3), works great but I have one problem, when I turn on notifications of new threads, I get this :

so bbcode for thread is not working :(

I checked permissions, bbcode & bbcode hyperlinks enabled for all users

To try to end the confusion regarding hotfixes, I've decided to adopt adding "Patch Level" (PL) on to the end of my zip files.

Thus, I present vBShout v5.4.3 PL1 (Patch Level 1):

The Shoutbox should no longer fail to parse BBCode in shouts on vB4
Posting / editing / deleting a shout in a chatroom tab will no longer briefly flash back to the main shoutbox tab. My original fix for this caused some additional problems - namely the shoutbox didn't properly refresh when someone posted a shout.
A new "Automated Message" mode has been added, which ensures that automatically posted shouts (e.g. "has just replied to thread") will skip permission checks and use vBulletin's built-in BBCode parsing list when posting the shouts. This ensures that actions like the Pro-only "Shoutbox PM on forum PM" works correctly for users awaiting email confirmation.
Permissions issues with editing others' shouts have been resolved. This was a regression issue that got introduced when trying to fix the above problem.
To update, simply re-download the files and re-upload them. The XML file has not been changed in this version.

Could you please try directly dragging and dropping the contents of the upload folder into your FTP program? That should work :)

Appears as though you've resolved the notifications parsing issue. The 64 bit version of QuickTime with iTunes is an issue for Apple. Thank you for the quick fix.

I just installed your add-on, and I am really impressed with the options that are available. What I am wondering is how I might set up a Shoutbox in any perticular Forum. Currently, it is sitting on the ForumHome, and I would like to place it in different Categories, or Topics.

Secondly, I am going to be using a chat option as a Debate. This is probably outside of the scope of your add-on, but maybe not. I am wondering if I could create a tab in the navbar that I could mandate that a user choose a side, and are directed to a group as they arrive in the chat forum that has two or more shout boxes side by side.

Example would be in the tab is Group A, and Group B, And Group C, etc. They would then be directed to a specific ShoutBox once they clicked the link in the tab of the navbar. I am not usually good at putting my thoughts in words, but I hope that you get the idea.

Step 4: Change the Manually Display Shoutbox setting to include the template names you wish the Shoutbox to appear on. For instance:
To have it appear on the front page (CMS) as well as the Forum Home, you'd enter FORUMHOME,vbcms_page for this setting.
To have it appear on every page, you'd enter navbar for this setting.

Step 5: Enter the Style Manager and add either {vb:raw vbshout} (vB4) or {$vbshout} (vB3) to the templates you named in Step 4 in the desired location.


Follow these steps as described and you will have total control over the position of the Shoutbox.

It seems like your vBulletin installation may be damaged. It's reporting as vBulletin 3 yet your files appear to be vBulletin 4.

Did you have any problems while upgrading vBulletin?
