Just a suggestion: Wouldn't it be better to remove the table surrounding the shoutbox and replace it by a div container?

also the <br> there is before and after the shoutbox create a gap if you also have your advanced forum statistics installed because that one also have a <br> before and after.

If I choose white for the color of my text, it is not visible in the text input field. And light colors are barely visible. PLEASE FIX THIS. It has been brought up many times in this thread already, and it's still not fixed in 3.1.2. The text should always be visible in the input area. Two ways to resolve:

1. Make the text input background the same color as the chatbox background.
or
2. Make the default text color of the input field black, and always black, and when we submit it the color we choose shows up in the chatbox.

The first solution is most desirable and probably most easy to implement. This MUST be fixed, it is a serious usability issue!

NO! That is NOT the issue! The issue is I DO want to allow white, but when typing in the text input box, white text cannot be seen! My chatbox background is BLACK (and black color is disabled), so I WANT WHITE TEXT. Therefore the user should be able to see what they are typing!

Is that so hard to understand???

I just typed "bs" on mine and it's not censored. Not even the f-word or other insults. :P
Check your word censoring options in the ACP.

My chat works in all pages - except CMS - with 4.02...

There is no sound in this yet and it is a difficult feature to add.

Like others have noted, once I updated to 4.0.2, I am completely unable to get the chatbox to function on CMS pages. Previously I had been able to get around this by attaching the chatbox to the navbar template and allowing it to be shown on all site pages, but this no longer works. I assume it's something Jelsoft changed in this version of their code.

I've asked before but would like to bring it up again...having a CMS widget for this chatbox would be very helpful. This is the only thing missing that's keeping me from donating and nominating this for MOTM.

Im getting a blank space under the chat after upgrading to 4.0.2...

I have the chatbox working only in full version in its own page (not in the CMS or elsewhere). After I've upgraded to 3.1.2 I get the following 'funny' thing: I can see the discussions in the normal view but when I turn to the archive there is nothing there. However I see the pagination (4 pages) over the chatbox footer and although I've set it to auto-prune every 72 hours no messages appear.

Any ideas?

It's not compatible with the CMS pages in 4.0.2 as of yet. It works fine in normal forum pages. Not clear yet what caused the change, but Valter's been pretty quick with the updates to this point.

I'm having an issue where the shoutbox will show up, but never get past loading.

This only happens when a member FIRST visits my domain "http://www.nwamotorsports.net/".
If they visit a sub-page and come back, or click the banner and redirect to "http://www.nwamotorsports.net/index.php" it will load properly, and even load properly if you then manually visit "http://www.nwamotorsports.net/" again.

I have a feeling this has to do with the option to specify which page to load the shoutbox on... but I'm not sure how to fix it.
My "Show ChatBox on pages..." is set to "index"
My "Show ChatBox in templates..." is set to "FORUMHOME"

Yeah, its not built into the product but you just need to add the relevant code to every page CMS but took it off as people use the forums less.

Chatbox works fine (what do you expect, VSa rocks) but from time to time, the bar where you input text (where it says Message by default), it gets bugged. What I mean by this is I click on it and nothing happens, and I cannot write a message in chatbox. This happens quite often.

Ok, I had to enter 20 usergroups to NOT allow to view the chat... but ok. :) Thanks! One problem - if a usergroup is banned from that chat room, misc.php?do=cchatbox takes them to the faq page. I'd like to display a custom message - is this possible?

Installed the latest version from 3.0.2 prior.

My text size dropdown is empty now. I checked the settings and the values are still there from before.

Clicking the "log in/log out" doesn't appear to do anything. At least there's no visual cue that I could see to say what state you are in.

Can we get an option to right align the usernames as well? That way the messages and names can align clearly?

That was the problem, thanks. It was from when you first released the mod and you couldn't see anything. Someone's fix for that. Since it was a while ago, I forgot it was ever done.

THIS problem with drop down list are NOT CB bug!!! Did you noticed that Style and Language selector ALSO has this "type" of drop down list??? Go to SETTINGS, and EDIT PROFILE (or whatever) and you'll see same thing! From ver. 4.0.2 VB has change this... He's add PADDING to .textbox, textarea, select!!! To confirm this, I'll uploaded vbulletin-style.xml from ver. 4.0.1, and everything is OK....


If you want to change it, in vbulletin-formcontrols.css (CSS Tempaltes) find

textarea,
select {

and change padding:4px 5px; in desired values..... (maybe padding:1px 1px;)

In an old ASP chatbox I used to have, instead of displaying the time next to the user's name, it displayed a clock image whose "title" was set to the time.
User, if curious of the posting's time, would just hover over the clock icon to see, and this would save some posting space.

Might want to make a frequently forgotten addition to the templates.

Any template that calls {vb:raw headinclude}, please be sure to add {vb:raw headinclude_bottom} below it as well. vBulletin 4.0.1+ now has this variable by default. This way if someone is using the new "additional.css" template, it will actually load in the chatbox pages.

Could I also say, that it would be nice to have a selector box in admincp, to choose alternate chat line colours.

Bit like:

Choose colour for even lines: light gray
Choose colour for odd lines: dark gray

Ok I "fixed" it with a patch on the template, just it don't show the edit's buttons, vsa-chatbox need a real fix to prevent a JavaScript and vsa-chatbox's code injection about edit.

To patch it you must:

Open: vsa_chatbox

Search:

REMEMBER THAT IS A PATCH THAT DON'T SOLVE DEFINITELY THE TROUBLE, it don't fix the javascript or the code, a user with right knowledge can bypass that patch and use directly the javascript to edit the messages

Surprisingly, I only found this now. I'm unable to moderate the chatbox, even though I'm user one, in the usual admin group (6) and I've set the moderate chat permissions to usergroup 6 (and even if I set it like from 1 tot 20, I still can't)

Reverting the templates or upgrading to the last version didn't help.. any idea what's wrong?

Any progress or suggestions on what us CMS owners can do to use this and your other plugins within the CMS?

I am treating your code like 3.8.x and avAdvanced in that I am creating a module (or in VB4 - widget) with the raw varible. But the varibles are not loaded/parsed in the CMS.

Almost like the days of vbAdvanced and 3.8.x where you had to insert the varible in the global statement.

Funny this was working with 4.01 in the CMS, but now no longer...

Rather than edit the template every time i upgrade, is it possible to write in that there is a box around the chat area by default, it just seems to tidy it up a bit.

If there's not much call for it then no biggie, its not a moajor edit to do each time :)

Really love the mod, but have been having trouble with the default color. I've noticed that this always seems to come up FALSE on my boards (4.0.2 PL1):

That's pretty weird. I do have body_color defined in all my themes, but it seems to be an issue on my boards.

Just for a temporary fix, I took out the conditional. It displays the first color as clear but all the text shows up like it's supposed to.

im running vb4 default style w/ color tune (dark backgrounds, white/light text) I tried to change the input box with no luck. I do not have a primary textbox in the stylevars. Is there a way I can edit it into the template (chatbox_input). I would like to make the defualt text to white and the input backround (box) black.

Admins, Supermoderators and Guests see %d-%m %R

i use %d-%m and %R (also tried %r) but it doesnt make a difference.

For you fellows with color selector issues, you should really read back through the rest of the thread, these things have been brought up many times and addressed by Valter. The two big things are:


Revert all custom templates BEFORE you import the product
He's working on a way to remove the black as the default first color.

STEP 1: UPDATE USER TABLE
Add new column of type "INT"
Name Column = "countvsachats"

STEP 2: MODIFY PLUGINS - (VSa - ChatBox - MN)

Find the following function "ccbmessages"

I have yet to try with FireFox but the idea is simple. Have a coulm in the user tabe keep track of the current amount of chats. When the chatbox refreshes, run a quick query to count the number of chats. If the chats in the query are larger than the entry in the user table - update the user table to match and fire off a sound.



I hope that there will be a good response to this and Valter might provide a similar solution?

I love this modification, I just have a few requests (sorry if they've already been asked):

Spam Protection - Limit # of posts in a row by a member

Chat Text - If someone posts with a long name, the chat text gets moved over. Please make it so the persons text sticks next to their name.

I will be happy with using this mod forever if these issues are addressed. Thank you!

It was happening to me because I had "time after log-out" set to '0' as I thought it would disable that function.
It is good now but it would be nice to have an option to be always logged in.
