Sounds like you uploaded the mod to the wrong file location. The only blank index is in the amecahce folder which shouldnt stop anything on the site.

I'll go back and take a look at it again. If I remember correctly, I tried loading to like named files AND also tried just loading to the root folder. The index.html DEFINITELY caused the problem. Once it was deleted, all good.

Same here it must be youtube because my passive video stopped working too, so Installed AME and I get the same link that external embedding is not available.

Running vb 3.8.4 with AME and everything's been fine. All of a sudden all the embedded youtube videos are all links. When you try to add a new video it just puts a link in the post. Didn't change anything in admin and the setting all look correct.

It worked me to but only on new posts. The old one's are still links. Looks like all the old youtube vids are now tagged with URL bb code. Funny thing is, on my other site all the vids are fine.

Same here. I hate when they pull this stuff. Yes we benefit from their services, but they also benefit. We are just regarded as trash in their corporate eyes I guess????

That worked great with AME on my unmolested site... now I need help with my heavily modded site that has Passive Video Premium installed and YouTube stopped working... it does not have the same type tick boxes as AME... and it's so modified AME throws errors... so I can't use AME on this one........ drat

Hi, I made sure to check your Troubleshooting Post (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1719064&postcount=3).

The particular issue that addresses my needs is:

Media won't embed, it just gives the link with an icon after it.
This means that the publisher of the video has disallowed the video to be shown off site. Its actually a feature of AME to do that

This is not the case as I created a separate BBCode tag for WeGame and it works just fine. I'd prefer it work with AME though.

Anyone have a working AME for using WeGame?

Well I hope this mod gets updated to address whatever is causing YouTube video urls from being parsed -- it's a great mod and needs to continue. :)

Back to speculation -- maybe this YouTube glitch is related to using the legacy YouTube API that was shut down on Nov. 11?

Sounds like the validation of youtube is barfing up. Either disable extraction, OR remove the validation setting for youtube.

To be honest, the validation process is a PITA and youtube have fixed the reason I had to validate the links in the first place. If removing the validation works, Ill update the mod to remove it altogether.

Regarding 4.0:
I have requested a couple of small 4.0 code changes to be able to extend their video bbcode system in an AME'ish way. Will let you know how it proceeds.

Sorry, but no. There isn't anything to fix. I don't know vbAnonymizer but would suspect it changes all URLs. If thats the case, tell it to leave AME's stuff alone!

If I disable AME the pin's appear.

Just uploaded 2.5.6 which:

Removes Youtube's validation process. This was the source of a lot of fals positives 'no media' links appearing.
Fixed a typo which led to ccurl not being used if availible (another source of woe)
Fixed a couple other minor things


Note regarding upgrading: If you use the file cache, you MUST rebuild your file cache after upgrading. To do so, upgrade then browse to AME CP > Tools > Resync File Cache.

Regarding 4.0 support: There will be a new version of AME for vb4.0. In fact, I already have a prototype working. It still remains to be seen if as many features can be includeded in this series as the last, but the fundamentals will be there.

You shouldn't have to. The only time you won't see the change is if the post you are looking at is cached in the postparsed table.

I can only take a guess here and say that it is the javascript that AME includes. I haven't tried this, but if you do not hide AME from certain usergroups, try disabling the AME : Permission Hide hook.

postparsed is a cache for recent vB posts.

Depending on your settings, vB will save the contents of a post after it has processed the BBcode a short period of time. This way, vB can save time processing recent posts. Preparsed contains these recent processed posts. Emptying the table out just means that vB will need to re-cache those recent posts again.

I think it's not the timing out, it takes about 15 seconds, which is ok.

That is an indication that your server isn't allowing any remote calls. Note that there are 2 spots where extraction may be off. First one is globally in amecp>settings and the other is by editing the definition itself. Check that both of those are on.

Also remember that if the contents of the post have been cached by vB, you won't see these changes right away. Best bet is to paste a new URL into a post and/or edit/save an existing.

I quadruple checked and rebuilt everything, posted new youtube vids and it's still the same, says YouTube not the vid name.

I know my dedi server is properly set, I had no problem before this youtube business.. other definitions are working properly... and I have '8wayruns Video' Directory Remixed (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=200819) installed and it pulls the YT name with no issues.

Does this work on 4.0?? I have ame bbcode tags everywhere and have no way to remove them. I was a dummy and forgot to remove the tags before a upgrade.

I am not rushing the coder to upgrade or anything just asking if this works on 4.0 it doesn't seem to have templates so it might still work. I am just worried to install it messing up the tables or some crap.

Doesnt matter which youtube video I try, they all do the same thing. I'm going to test some of the other sites to see if its more than just youtube

I've re-uploaded all the files and re-imported the xml file, too....same problem.

2 YouTube videos means you have two YouTube definitions. When you upgrade AME, the default definitions are reinstated, YouTube and Amazon, which are different from the YouTube and Amazon definitions that come with my add-on, which I assume you have imported.

I honestly don't remember adding it, but I've been wrangling with my YouTube definitions for so long trying to get the HD to work in a practical way, I may have forgotten.

Its pretty much done however a bug was introduced into vb4 after Beta 5 that stops the whole system dead in its tracks. I believe it is sorted for next release though. Once I can verify that, I should have AME3 up in about 24 hours.

As I said about 4 posts up... vb4 introed a bug in beta 5 that hasnt been fixed yet. This bug is why AME isn't out yet. AME3 should be out within a day after next vb4 release (pending bug fix and no new bugs that affect the system)

When you upgrade AME, it reinstalls the two default definitions. One of them is Amazon, which doesn't include the affiliate link or thumbnail. That's why you were getting a thumbnail and regular link overlapping each other, because both the default and the one in my set of definitions are active. You need to delete the other definition.

If there is only 1 parameter than AME3 should work fine but no way to know until its looked at. AFAIK you cannot turn off the video bbcode, nor would I suggest to the new vB code is somewhat limiting, but thats not really bad. Its more tightly written and has a tighter scope. It doesn't lend itself to large amounts of definitions as easily, but its also only the first iteration of the system.

Your old definitions will not work in AME3 because they won't work in vb4. The good news is that its pretty easy to convert them and you should be able to convert the ones you need in no time flat. There will be the odd ones that wont convert because they need multiple parameters, but that is the exception rather than the rule.

Nope, I'm not logged in. I don't know why it's doing that. I'm getting the videos to embed just fine. The only odd thing is the title becomes that error message. Maybe they're related somehow. Hrm...

I have managed to install the addon onto my forums, but testing it out, I can only make it show video if I enclose links in .

Posting a normal link will just have it enclose in automatically, and nothing will happen.

Creating a preview of a post with AME tags will properly show the video, but change the AME tags to URL tags in the text editor.

Any ideas what's going on? It seems like AME is not automatically scanning the posts? vB 3.8.4

Missing column, maybe? Sounds like you added the blog after you installed AME and didn't run the Add Blog Support tool in the AME CP.

Not really. There's some directions within the modification itself if you want to remove the AME tags before uninstalling, but other than that, it isn't different than any other modification.

Er... do you mean the titles for the link? When you post a link to youtube and you have extraction on, it will go fetch the page title and lin it up as title of page

Not sure where the encoding will need to be done. Most likely here:

That is a warning that your path to the file cache is incorrect. It needs the full server path to the folder. Listen to AME, she is giving you the answer :)

The title is pulled from the the destination page; the URL itself. If the page is saying something different from what your getting, than maybe you don't have extraction turned on, either globally or in the definition itself. Either way, for titles to be pulled, you have to have extraction enabled.

Cheers for the reply. It's on in both places hence my confusion. It must be getting "YouTube- Broadcast Yourself." from somewhere? With extraction off it just shows "YouTube" as expected.

I was having a problem where if somebody added a link to Wikipedia and then tried to preview their post, Vbulletin 3.8 returns a parse error. I did a search at Vbulletin.com about the error and found a post where it was caused by this mod and the problem went away when the Wikipedia thumbnail option was de-selected in this mod. I did that and it did correct the problem. Is there a fix for this?

Take a close look at the error. It's saying that findonly.php doesn't exist. Check to make sure all your AME files uploaded or stayed on the server, and that your amecache folder is CHMOD 777.

Unless I'm mistaken, findonly is created once the amecache is properly CHMODed. Check the permissions on the amecach folder, and then run your Synch AME Cache tool to troubleshoot.

You only get video titles if Extraction is on, both globally and per definition. Also, turning them on won't suddenly extract them, as it's pulled when you post or resave the post.

Is this correct?
The definition only affects whether the video parses, not whether the title will convert. I can't remember what method The Geek used for extracting titles, but I believe your host needs to allow cURL queries from your server.

Since you're using my definition instead of the default one, post a couple of the links your using in my definitions thread so I can see if there's something different about the URLs in question.

From my earlier post (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1951070&postcount=1124), it's likely you have the same problem I did. The fact that you're getting "YouTube- Broadcast Yourself." means extraction is on and working it's just that you're hitting YouTube's spam protection page, which has that as its title.

I have fixed it on mine by editing the plugin code so that it uses YouTube's API to retrieve the video title. The code is clunky and I'm not really a coder but if the author or someone else wants to check it out they'd be very welcome.

Failing that it's a case of contacting YouTube to see if they'll remove your site from their spam list.

Start with a fresh copy of ame_bbcode, because I think this one has been nerfed. If you decide to make the edits again, do so in a different text editor. Something simple like Notepad. Even something as simple as a whitespace can screw PHP coding from functioning properly.

Unlikely. You wouldn't be getting that error if it were something else. To be sure though, have you already replaced that file without edits to see if you continue to get the same error? Do that first if you haven't already. Then try changing 'UTF-8' to 'auto'

What language are you trying to convert it to, again? ISO/IEC 8859-2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO/IEC_8859-2) is for only for certain languages. You need to find the right character encoding (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Character_encoding).

i dont know what happened....something to do with my crappy host im sure due to issues i just had with them.

anyways, the videos arent showing up now. i have to click edit and then save to have the video show up. the link to the video is still in the post, but its not showing itself in the thread at all, even a link or title. so i click edit, and i see the link in the threads original area, and i click save and the video loads....

this is happening on all the threads. what can i do to fix this?

That means that your files didn't upload or they're in the wrong location. Make sure you uploaded them to the right place.

Only two definitions are default. The additional websites are available in my add-on.

i just resynched the file cache, and i checked the file permission...moved a new server, and it was 755 so i put it to 777 then resynce. then there is 2 new files in that folder amecache, but no videos showing up in threads still... ;(

when i did the move i dont think i paid attention to that setting no, but when i read here and looked at the ame cp settings i fixed the path of the folder since the cpanel user name had changed, then i set that to 777 and ran the resynch stuff but its not loading. i will try to reinstall it and see what happens.

Patience. I'm trying to think of the proper way to process a single tag to a single tag. For one thing, you got the error message because you were trying to convert them improperly. Each entry in Code needed to have a corrosponding entry in Conversions. Just like they are in the default example entries. youtube for youtube, metacafe for metacafe, ect. But you only had a single instance of media BB Code. So I'm trying to find what the proper Conversions entry would be. All that really needs to happen is to change [media] to [ame]. I'm just not sure what you need to put in the Conversion box yet.

I'm having database issues after loading this. When I try to save my Usergroup settings it gives me database errors. What is happening?

This is the MySql error:

MySQL Error : Unknown column 'ms_searchsocialgroups_permissions' in 'field list'

That's the culprit. It's the last bitfield when editing the usergroup properties. I just had the same problem while migrating my dev box to vB4.0 and upgrading AME to 3.0. The file comes from the Search Social Groups Link On Navbar Search (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=201037) mod. Most likely you've disabled/deleted the mod, but the bitfield file is still in the xml folder.

This was working good for a long time until today.

It would take over 2 minutes for a page to load on my site. By disabling AME (and only AME) in the control panel my site is back up to speed again.

If I re-enable it the slow page loads start again. So it is disabled for now.

Anyone have this happen to them before?

I went in and uninstalled the mod.

Once it was done uninstalling I went in and reinstalled it and now things are good again. I am not sure what gotmessed up in it but glad I have it working again. :)

I too am looking to be able to embed widescreen videos such as provided by youtube. Hope the following post by ghostpt does the trick.

You have to change the Default Width and Height on AdminCP > AME CP > Settings. I use 858x508, works fine for me.

I really can't remember if I change my Youtube definitions (Admin CP > AME CP > DisplayDefinitions > Youtube) so here it goes:

Btw, the setting that I've come up with to give me the same exact widescreen setting that youtube uses is 385x650. I don't know how this will impact those vids that are of the smaller 4:3 format. I assume they'll just be embedded inside the same size object dimensions that I've set as the default, and will just have the vertical black bars on the left and the right of the displayed vid. But no problem living with it that way.

AME shouldn't have any effect on page load, other than pages where AME is actually being used. And even then, page load would only be affected by the videos in question. Only other thing I think it could be is a mod conflict.

Set the Container to No for no for no box around the video, or just edit the container template with whatever code you want. Videos are sized globally, or you can set them per definition.

Videos are sized globally, or you can set them per definition.Just for grins I removed the container on my test forum to see how it looks without. Relatively simple. What you can do is go into the template and just remove all the class names, or replace them with class names of your own and put your custom CSS in your vBulletin CSS Manager. It would probably take a little trial and error either way.

On one forum I was troubleshooting, we replaced his class="tcat" with class="thead", which worked out better for his style. You might look into that if you decide you want a title header back.

Dailymotion is a definition that doesn't come by default in AME 2.5. You would need to get support for that in my thread and not here.

I Re-installed it and updated the cache and used the Tools option to TroubleShoot...and then the pages on my forum stopped and gave me this Error:::

I don't. In fact, even the default parameters straight after the install produce the same error. There was one other person who got this error on the 3.7 version but I don't think it ever got resolved. I'm messing with the php in the admin file now to see if I can get around it.

Looks like the ame_bbcode.php file is no longer in the /includes/ directory.

I'm running AME on 3.8.5 now and it works fine....except for my conversion issue above. still searching for a solution :(
