That's good to know. I wanted to wait until I knew for sure that you woriking on this, there are a few HTML errors in the PHP code. When validating I ran into a number of image codes that had two border="0" elements. It was turning out quite a few validation errors. Also, and I'm not entirely sure on this, but I think the there's something wrong in the HTML output of the profile page. When enabled, I can't bring the hidden tabs to the forefront. Haven't been able to root out the direct cause yet, but I know my Video Directory tabs closes everytime I try to close the Achievments tab. I figured there's a connection.

I'll need to double check, but in two or three files several <img> tags had double border="0" attributes and there were a couple of opened tags I ran into. I'll need to check again to see what I edited, but I believe it was mostly in files. The glitch with the profile boxes seems to be that they share the same ID name.

I'm not suggesting that you force people to pay, just let those who want to pay you, and people who can't afford it can still access it for free.

This addon is garbage! Just removing all the hack's files doesn't completely remove it, I had to also re-upload all my original Vbulletin files in order for errors to go away. I was getting nothing but blank screens when trying to post or reply.

Yes, this mod stays free. There is is no support for older versions. This counts for vBulletin 3.5 and for 3.6 - and this also counts now for 3.8. As I cannot provide updates for all versions the users may have, you will have to live with that.
Also, FREE means that nobody has to pay money to me to use it. It does not count if you hire another coder to install oder customize it or if you upgrade your server because this modifications eats up cpu....

Oh yes, just another stupid basher that has not read the instructions and did unnecessary actions like re-upload vBulletin. Thanks for your show. This modification has been installed 2500 times, it seems to me not to be garbage.

Yea I dont think so , I have been using this mod for a long time as many of us have and this is one of the best supported and if not one of the best ones that have been released here on VB.org ....

Thank you. I was hoping/assuming that was the case. None of our limited interactions have been unpleasant, so it didn't make sense that this one was. Thanks for affirming that, nonetheless.

Much of what I do is free for the sheer enjoyment of doing it. On the other hand, I have two kids to support, so sometimes I have to face the tough decision of moving a project from the "I love my work" column to the "gotta pay the bills" column, or else drop it. I wasn't making any assumptions about the developer (or any developer for that matter). Just putting out an idea for him/her to consider, as I would like to stay on this particular bus without moving my board and it's mods to vb4.

No doubt I'll see you in other areas here, so I'll see you later.

man, i really am glad you are putting this on VB 4!! I've been waiting on the 'yet another awards system' mod to put automation to their awards, but it looks like this probably already has this ability?
I'm hoping to put many awards in the postbit. This is possible, right? And adding lots of new awards will be do-able too, right?

Might i suggest an item. Could there possibly be a mystery item you can buy? What i mean is this: say you have this mystery item in your shop. the icon maybe is a box with a ? on the side. Ok. Now, when a person purchases that mystery item, it adds to your inventory a random item from your shop. Perhaps even make it so that certain items have a better chance of getting picked than others.

I've been using vbPlaza for the last few years so never really looked at this mod, but I'm finally deciding to install it on my board :).

Don't know if this has ever been mentioned, but I think it would be great to incorporate "quests" like www.thesixtyone.com does to try and get new users into exploring all the features of the site :). For example, on thesixtyone when you sign up you get little pop-ups in the corner of the window saying "Rate five songs to level up to the next ranking!" Then you can complete other tasks to earn points. Maybe you could include quests like "Vote in 2 polls" or "Add three people as your friend" :).

You wouldn't miss it, as all you would have to do is check his profile from time to time. All modifications are listed in the creator's profiles.

I set the items for a max of 5 to show up, and the first 5 items that they bought are only shown. They can't change what order they show in. Is there a way to change this?

FTP into your forums folder:

Disable plugins by adding this to the top of your config.php, under the <?php:
define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

then you will be able to go into your adminCP and remove the plugin.

Be sure to edit your config.php and remove that line when your done.

My experience bars seem to be completely messed up. It is almost as if my board is ignoring the "cellpadding" variable. As the background of the bar has a higher height than it should and their is padding between all the images.

I have checked the coding and nothing appears to be off, I even checked both of the _gfx and _gfxfull or whatever it was. The experience bars will just not line up correctly and they look horrid.

For several days the percentage of activity increased by 100% in 1000% (as if it were changed, ",") and the bars have become very long activity.

Ok ive installed this and it seems to be working fine... but i think i am missing something or just dont understand how it works.
I've searched, & read thru most of this thread, but cant figure out what the levels are.?
I see where i can set what the max level should be, but not when each level changes.

At what amount of points do you get to another level.!? (I see how many to my next level but not the one after that or the one after that, etc.. only the NEXT one)
Is that anywhere to be seen / edited.?

Like..
Level 1 - 1-50pts
Level 2 - 51-100pts
Level 3 - 101-200pts
Etc..
How do we know what the pts are set to, & can they be edited.?

I want to use this as a tool for keeping track of promotions to a different rank (not usergroup) so i need to know what the levels are set to, or if i can change them to match my point levels.

It would it is already in here, but i cant find it for the life of me.

In the vbexperience folder there is about 8 different files for variations of levels in the extras/levels/ folders which has the xml files for all the levels. If none of those suit you, you could create your own file edit the values there.

Did you try opening any of the xml files mentioned? You can see what points you need to jump to the next level in that file. You can also edit the points to your own liking and reupload the new file. I wouldn't say you have to have a certain amount of users to use the different variations, it just makes it harder/easier to level.

I don't know why, but my small file also doesn't update, but my other ones do... maybe someone else can explain. You also need to make sure you run the recount to update the points after importing a new level set.

I CAN NOT remove this product, no matter what I do. It says to upload the file 'kill_xperience.php" to your AdminCP and 'execute' it.

I've uploaded it to the admincp folder, and I'm assuming that just means that I open up my browser to 'forumdomain.net/admincp/kill_xperience.php' correct?

I've done that, but I keep getting an internal server error.

Find the phrase "Points" then change it to "Gil" or whatever you want, but there's alot of Points so if you want "Points" to display as "Gil" in every page such as: postbit, profile, ../forum/xperience.php or esles, you must change all of them :D

Unfortunately.. I'm stuck using this now as it is the main source of our rankiing system, but have lost all profile functionality.

First I installed mod on my testforum and everything worked. Then I ran kill_xperience.php and things went bad (missing profile information after reinstalling).

Then mirrored the testforum from scratch, and did the following:

1. Installed mod (working)
2. Uninstall all plugins manually one by one.
3. Run kill_xperience.php
4. Installed the mod again (working)

It worked. I can install and remove mod as many times I want with no problems as long as I rembember to uninstall all plugins one by one manually BEFORE running kill_xperience.php :)

Please always test things on testforum before going live ;)

i posted this in another vbexperience thread, but realized it was for 3.7, i run 3.8.4patch2. So, i will repost it here since it is more relevant:
I installed the mod and it is great, no problems so far. For some reason i used the level 2 system, and it works fine but i wanted to go down to level 1, even after i imported it and recalculated the activity and points and such on the admincp experience tab it remains the same. not a big deal though. My biggest question is:

We currently have the rank system put in place from vbulletin that ranks them up via post count. I like experience ranking system much better, but i want to use icons ( the military ones) to display their rank, not a bar. How is this done? Thanks!

edit: i am using the beta, if that matters. and i searched the this thread as best i could and couldn't find a solution, sorry if this has been done before and im being annoying.

My settings for this modification are not updating. All other modifications update fine. The modification will save all settings, but modules, and ONLY if I disable all the modules.

In the past the support was always like this. But in the last months I didn't had the time for this time consuming hobby. I think the only solution to this would be a seperate support tool like "Project Tools".


Now can i suggest a ranking system for future releases. :)

As for the beta it seems that I will not release it today. There are still showstoppers regarding Promotions and Shop. I will release today evening (European time...) some screenshots so you can see the progress for yourself. I expect the beta in the week of 7th June.

How do I set up achievements? I had an achievement for no infractions and I said Infractions = 0, but I nor anyone else gets the achievement.

Also if I set it up so if they have no infractions, when I they get an infraction, will it take away the achievement?

I have the problem that users doent earn new achievements - they only get them when I manually refresh the achievements via AdminCP.
It seems that a scheduled task or something is missing - I didnt find anything relating to achievements in them. Do i need to manually add something there?

While I'd also love to have it now, It's going to be damn near impossible for him to release a stable version of this mod with the current issues in 4.x . The ratings system in the software STILL doesn't function properly in CMS (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?342918-Members-can-t-rate-articles&highlight=article+rating), particularly if blogs are disabled. Not only does he have to convert the mod to 4.x- he has to fix the BUGS (in 4.x) for it to work properly.

How do I set up achievements? I had an achievement for no infractions and I said Infractions = 0, but I nor anyone else gets the achievement.

Also if I set it up so if they have no infractions, when I they get an infraction, will it take away the achievement?
Achievements with a zero value are currently not supported. Tagged for future releases.


I have the problem that users doent earn new achievements - they only get them when I manually refresh the achievements via AdminCP.
It seems that a scheduled task or something is missing - I didnt find anything relating to achievements in them. Do i need to manually add something there?

Hello Phalynx, this looks very interesting, will you have the ability to integrate 3rd party add-ons like downloadsII in the vB4 version? Or will we be able to add actual downloads like style downloads as zip-files in the shop?

(I have not clicked installed as I do not use this yet, I am hoping to be able to use it on my styles site with the vB4 version!)

Is there any way of using the ranking list for a single sub forum permissions without using the vBExperience internal promotion system? We have several promotion rules in the forum already, and are not sure that rebuilding this is the best option.

Can someone please give me a comparison between vbexperience (free) and vbactivity (you have to buy this one)? I hate to pay that much for VBactivity if it is gonna be basically the same thing.
Basically both are complete different, beside the fact that they are counting "activities".
vBExperience will always stay "full version" without "light" or "limited". Tell me what you need and I can say you if will be satisfied with vBExperience.

I need to add a CDP that simply pulls a value from a custom profile field. (It's a simple checkbox field: user field 5). I'm not sure I know how to set this up after spending some time looking through the example and readme. Basically, if the member checks the box in their profile, they've earned the achievement.

These seems to be a very good hack. Installed.

I am thinking about creating some atmosphere of competition between my users, and this seems a very good choice. Will be better though if there can be some 'mini games' where users can 'attack' each other with their strength is correlated to their points, or maybe they can use some of their points to buy items that can enhance their attack or defense stats.

Just some questions.. I already uploaded all my files and overwrote it, those in the folder upload via ftp.

But what about the xml? It's name is "product_vbexperience385.xml"

and I see there is a second one named "vbexperience_level_2_average.xml" What's this for?

EDIT: Ok so I imported the 385 one, and it said ...

"This product is not compatible with version 4.0.3 of vBulletin. (Compatible starting with 3.6.99 / Incompatible with 3.9.99 and greater)"

EDIT: nvm.... it's for 3.8.5...should look better. Eh, well I guess I'll keep waiting for vb4 :(

You can check the Transaction Log in the AdminCP and delete the transaction for the items.

I have a request for the shop. Could we possibly get a 'random item' item in the shop that selects from all the inventory one item to give to the person who purchases it?

My reasoning: I want to make it more of a game with the shop for my members. My items are going to be kinda like trading cards and i want them to try and get all of them. The only real way for them to get each of these is to earn the points and buy the 'random item' in hopes of getting new cards. They can be fore sale too, but at very expensive prices.

Could you please think about it? I dont think it would really be very hard. thanks!

I downloaded vBExperience 3.8.4.2 a while ago and I can't seem to get the Userbars to work in the Postbit. But when you go to the User Profile location, the Experience tab does have the userbars.
So I think it might be a code that isn't working, could you help me out?
