Never ever enable promotions if your admin group is your primary group. There is a documentation about this.
THIS IS NOT A BUG OF THE HACK. There are dozens of warnings about this.

You need to use phpmyadmin to assign you to an admin again.

It should be fixed now. An uninstall of the plugin removes only persistent data that can be recalculated, not live data like shop items and awards. For this you need to use an extra kill file to avoid upgrade/reinstall headaches.

Has anyone experienced a problem when the Experience cronjob runs it taxes the server and causes the pages to load up blank? I've had it happen to a few times now, and actually made it worse when I messed with the update intervals to be offset at 15 minutes instead of 10. So I disabled the cronjob for now and the site is running fine.

I'm thinking of setting it to update at 5,15,25,35 etc intervals instead of the default 10,20,30 etc next. Was there anything in 3.8.3 under the "small fixes" notation that maybe optimized this update process? I would like to continue to use this great mod, but it's not playing nice with our servers. :)

Did you already read the file readme_optimization.txt? There are some optimization tipps.

Thanks for pointing me to this, I did not see it. All of them will be fixed in 3.8.4, beside of point 10 as the listing will be replaced by a new one.
Also, the unknown.gif is a return value that I get using vBulletin API.

As for your Awards... This is not simple, but explainable:

Feror is the third person in stats. As you have also set a limit of 3 awards per user, an award can be passed because a user has already 3 awards. The award is going down to the next in the ranking.
Feror has only 0 points in the ranking because the hack "RadioActivity" sets the sum to 0. The Award is using other fields than the sum.

The second user has more points for threads and posts, but the total for him is 612, where as the non active 1 post member, has a total of 805.
The option for points per day online, then says underneath days since registering, and there is 13 months difference between join dates, so I set that to 0 to see if that corrected the user points and it only lowered it slightly.

The product needs to reward active members and with those stats it leaves it very confusing and I may have to uninstall vbexperience.

Simply put points for per day online to 0 and do an recount. You need to recount always whenever you change points. Also, there is a statistics module where you can find out where exactly a user gains points. Possibly he has some visitor comments, blogs, downloads, etc....

Additionally, there is a modification called RadioActivity which reduces points of a user if he become inactive.

It seems you did not copied the xperience.php to your server. You are beeing sent to the root because the file does not exists. Try it with http://www.animeheist.com/forum/anynameblubbla.php - it also redirects to the root.

Sorry for this, I overlooked it. I wanted to say that this is currently not supported directly. The admin is getting only a confirmation of purchase which can be used to send files manually.

This is the default image if you don't enter an own image. Check settings of that item.

hello, Im having a weird issue with the Activity meter. Only a couple people it is showing up incorrectly for but most everyone else it is showing up correctly.

I have the Activity taking in consideration for the last 2 months only. He shows up at 10% , even though he's been online all the time and never logs out for the last 2 months.

Is there a bug where certain people it shows up incorrectly like this ? Mine, im logged in most of the time and mine shows up as 99%. him = 10%.

Ahem, yup, here comes my plea, is there any chance of linking items in the shops to actual download files. I am using the shops as virtual skin shops where members can earn forum points to purchase the skins we have available on our site (they're all financially free but require efforts on the site to earn points you see).

Presently I have it set to send me PM's when a purchase is made and I then PM the members an attached zip of the skin they have purchased. It's okay as such like this but as we grow, and we're growing quite quickly, this method is going to become impossible for me to keep up with. Having linked items would be absolutely the gravy on the PERFECT meal.

Please, can you give me some idea of if/when you may implement this functionality.

guys, I initially thought the Activity bar represented how often you've been logged in . (per set # of days) I now just re-read that it has to do with posting as well.

So if I set it to 60 days...and 1 post per day... that would be = 99% or 100% ?

This will replace the internal vB promotions. If you enable this system, make sure that you delete any promotions that could collide with Experience. Also, take care that the promotions are overwritten the primary group of every user.

Ahem, yup, here comes my plea, is there any chance of linking items in the shops to actual download files. I am using the shops as virtual skin shops where members can earn forum points to purchase the skins we have available on our site (they're all financially free but require efforts on the site to earn points you see).

Presently I have it set to send me PM's when a purchase is made and I then PM the members an attached zip of the skin they have purchased. It's okay as such like this but as we grow, and we're growing quite quickly, this method is going to become impossible for me to keep up with. Having linked items would be absolutely the gravy on the PERFECT meal.

Please, can you give me some idea of if/when you may implement this functionality.

You have already the possibility to define an icon, a thumb and a picture.
There is no possibility to exclude such icons.

It depends on the postcount the top 10 people have. See also:

The system calculates the activity by taking the average post count of the ten most active user and comparing it to own post count. This can be set to count only the last X days, f.e. 21 days (controlable via AdminCP) .

I understand this; hence my quote of the settings. I meant to suggest that something of this nature should be stated in one of the README files provided as it's a major issue. I wasn't aware until after a complete installation and now I have to modify your code to use membergroupids instead because I cannot have this affect pre-established primary usergroup promotions.

Might I also suggest a Lite version rather then keep adding additional features. Taking advantage of CDP will streamline your product moreso. Looking forward to future versions.

Checks settings, there you can move the bars to another hook.

Before any promotion will be active, you will need to activate it. On activation, there is the information.
A lite version will not be done. You can disable features that you don't need easily. Some of them, like the promotions, are already disabled by default.

You need to copy the images to ALL of your style folders.

The last column is misc, right? Check statistics to see if there are some points.

We want to use the promotions system just for one group, but we want the promotion based on activity, not level.
In other words, if a user in that group (only in that one) gets more than 15% activity, moves to another group, and if his activity is lower than 5% will go back to the previous group.

Whatever person is the guy that made that thread a bunch of years ago will be receiving points for eternity if i enable those features.

Whilst I can see potential for your mod on my site, until the linked download functionality is a part of this it is of no use to me. Please don't mix up points and threads or posts. You posted the points of the user, which he got by multiplying threads or post with the points in AdminCP, Setting, Experience Points.

Yes, some have however, one of the ones who don't appear definitely don't have any infractions.

There are some users with infractions who show up on the list, there are only some users with infractions who don't show.

I have a question: Can this be used behind-the-scenes for running a contest? I'd like to use this but I don't want all the extra stuff to be added to profiles, postbits, etc. The only thing I would want shown to users is a page with a table/list of users and their current point-value.
Is this possible?

Secondly, a suggestion I thought of: The ability to award points for purchasing a Paid Subscription through vBulletin's Paid Subscription system.

I sure hope what I am wanting to do is possible as I'd really like to use this. :)

Mate, I love this mod and members of my forum love it for the motivation it provides. I run a small board of just under 1000 members and we utilise the blog features a lot. I see in the adminCP it states that blog comments and views are treated like threadreplies and threadviews. I can see the score for threadviews (set to 0.2), but cannot determine which of the fields represents threadreplies. I can see Replies to Own Thread, but not thread replies.

If you could shed light on exactly how blog activities score that would be fantastic.

Update: I've done some checking and thread(anything) doesn't appear to take into account any blog comments or views. I have users who have been extremely active in the blog (ie 100's of comments) and they only have 4 thread view points. Not sure if there's another setting I need to set.

Moderators are gettings the same points as users, there is no difference in calculation.

Yes, should be possible by deactivating the relevant plugins. Some parts can be already disabled by settings.

Blog posts, replies and views are using the same settings like normal threads, but they are not counted towards the threads, they are bundled to the blog points (listed under misc).

Levels are like a staircase. You can define which and how big/small steps a user needs to reach the next level. With levels everybody sees how much points someone has.

Not knowing what the Add Points link would do when I clicked on it, I didn't add any information but the blank fields were saved as an entry anyway. I wasn't sure at first, as I didn't notice till I came back to Manage Custom Points menu and clicked it again just to be sure. Sure enough I now had two blank entries. Deleting them caused a database error which I just now realized I should have copied and pasted here. The two entries deleted okay, but just in case it could cause a problem, I thought I'd mention it.

Something similar happened here. I added 5000 custom points to 4 users (What i called Staff Points). Then i gave one of them 5000 more so he could buy some items at the shop and give them away to some users. When i tried to take away the extra points remaining, he got negative numbers.

Once finished giving away presents users points: 11000. -6000 custom points... got -5000 or something like that. I had to fussion that user with a new one i created :erm:.

By the way... Are you planning to consider money & bank in a near future? That's a faq in my forum.

Yeah, you have, sure. And the error message comes from a vBExperience Plugin missing it's tables. So tell me now you have uninstalled it and you still have the problem...

Apparently other users have been having the same problem and you are claiming they are not uninstalling the product 100%. I've uninstalled it first, and then went to the kill file and removed the tables. What else is there to do to get rid of this error that isn't allowing anyone on my site to post?!?!


I've even went as far as reinstalling it, posting to make sure I can post and then uninstalling the product once again, then killing the tables...and still....error.


Even after I install it again, the xperience_done table doesn't exist. Could we be getting this error because of one of your earlier editions of this mod...and it's something you didn't put in the kill file to remove?



Solution
Go to uninstall the product, but when you get the "are you sure" message, stop and don't press yes yet.
Go and run the kill file in another window/tab.
Once that is done, go back to the other window/tab and press yes.

That is intendet. The points are added once you click on the button, after that they are getting updated.

There is no xperience_done table, it's a column in the user table and it's beeing removed by the uninstalling the product.

Yeah, several people have asked about this before. There isn't much more to explain: people can buy items, but they can't give them away. It says it can't find the username, even when you start typing and click on the name that pops up.

Also, there are already addons available that are working as Custom Data Provider (CDP). A CDP can extend vBExperience by collecting data and adding it to the vBExperience datastore. All point providers can be used for Awards and Shop.

You have to install these hacks for your own, vBExperience doesn't install nor touches these.

That will not work this way. To have it like you mentioned it the code behind the template must be rewritten.

Just look at the images folder in the upload folder. Put everything that's there in the corrosponding directory of your styles folder.

ok After removing the exclude forum id's from the options I was able to do a recount, so it has to do with The Excluding of forums. Anyway you can get this fixed :D

I went to try what you suggested, but somehow it had magically fixed itself, lol. Go fig. I never did a thing. I didn't reboot the server, or anything. I just left it alone for a day an when I went back to look into it again it'd somehow sorted itself out, *shrugs*.

Troubleshooting
If there are no bars visible at the postbit, you don't have a fully vBulletin 3.7/3.8 compatible postbit/postbit_legacy template. You will need at least $template_hook[postbit_userinfo_left] - make sure it's there. Take a look at the origin 3.7/3.8 template to see where it should be.


Both my postbit and postbit_legacy templates are the same as the default layout, and they both have that line in it. But the bars don't display on my new layout of the site but they do on the vb default theme, anyone have any idea what other template I need to change?

I'm experiencing this same problem--- I just tried giving something to user "Bob_Jones"

But, it did not work.

However, it did work on "BobSmith"

I have tried surfing this thread for the solution to this problem with no luck.

Awards and items bought from the shop are NOT showing in the postbit. Yes it is a custom made skin from vbskinworks, but I do not see what or where to edit to get these items to show up in the postbit. I am using postbit legacy template and I dont even know where to begin fixing this.

And thank you for this brilliant mod. It is my favorite site toy so far.
