Yes the "gift" option appears to be rather broken .. also, why don't gifts show up in the transaction log? I use the shops for people to "buy" subscriptions - sometimes they buy them for other people, but I have no way of knowing if they have gifted it, being that there is no option to send a PM automatically if a gift transaction is done, and it doesn't show up in the transaction log at all.

There's another 'problem'--

-I had an item under "Category A"
-1 user purchased the item
-I deleted "Category A", thinking, logically that all items inside would be deleted as well

Nope. Item A still exists in the user's postbit/profile. And he says he cannot sell it back to the store.

I on the other hand can't delete it in the AdminCP.... so we have a ghost item. How do I get rid of it?

For the bars not showing up you need to make sure all images are put into your forum styles/misc/level directory.

Maybe someone has run across this issue, I have added in new custom awards and on the experience page the awards show up under the person but the awards do not show up in the postbit, meaning next to the persons name in their profile or on their threads, the 3 default awards show up though.

You probably have the award limit set to a certain number, like 2. This means that after you get a certain amount of awards, other people get 1st place because your awards are all filled up. If that makes sense. Just change that number and you'll be fine.

The usergroups are configured via vBulletin default AdminCP Tools.

Seems I'm having that old issue of certain things not showing up in the admincp. I viewed that url link in the info an I have both libxml and php updated to at least the versions they recommended an yet still I don't see certain things.

Its just the Settings: ... options, the rest of the menu items show up. Statistics, the manage stuff, etc.

Any ideas? Could it be cos of one of the other addons I've got enabled, such as vb optimise, or something else?

I have tried surfing this thread for the solution to this problem with no luck.

Awards and items bought from the shop are NOT showing in the postbit. Yes it is a custom made skin from vbskinworks, but I do not see what or where to edit to get these items to show up in the postbit. I am using postbit legacy template and I dont even know where to begin fixing this.

And thank you for this brilliant mod. It is my favorite site toy so far.
I assume there are missing template hooks in that custom style.

All you have to do it find out where you theme is pulling its images. For example my theme pulls its theme images from :

web root/images/styles/"name of product"/

So im my case i would put the misc. folder here

web root/images/styles/"name of product"/misc/

And it should put the images up properly hope that helps !!:D

You must change the fields of the awards to the new fields of the hide hack. In the default config, it uses the fields of post thank you.

So Many Users Stuck at zero %?

I have some users with less points who are at 99% and other users with higer points who are at 0%. So please anyone explain to me why the heck gives here???

I have level 1 installed because my board is under 500 members.

So why dont we see members on my site at any other % like 4% 30% or anything!

Yes of course I did a recount. I am sorry but a recount is not the cure all answer everyone likes to throw around this forum!

I solved my problem by adjusting the point system which really needs to be customized per forum. Once I changes those settings to mirror how my site is used everything corrected itself and the %s now are calculated correctly. 2PT for posting a thread and 1Pt for a blog really!!! COME ON!!!

Many people who have problems need to spend the time adjusting the points settings. :up:

Now again I need the experience bars in the blogs by avatars and waiting for vb4 and a major update to this mod to be released is too long of a wait.

So is there anyone who can help with the edits to get that to work? Maybe if we had a realistic update ETA that would be helpful for me.

Also, everyone that uses the Shop it would be helpful if you post your item graphics and categories here. I was seriously disappointed with this mod after turning on the Shop to see zero default info preloaded. :(

Problem Adding New Awards

I just added a new award for Discussion Ender. After doing all the required recounts, one member shows in Awards having receive this new award.... HOWEVER: On their profile the award is not shown under the experience tab nor the award graphic? Also, the new award is not shown under Ranking next to their username.

What is wrong?

Is the award system broke in this release or what? and if one fool replies and tell me to do a recount I am going to VOMIT all over them!

Let's dig deeper:

1. When you add a new award it has first listed: Unique identificatorGraphics are included with this: award_IDENTIFICATOR.gif - don't use same identificator twice!
Well ok this AINT clear at all as to what goes in this field. Please explin to me why the identifier has anything to do with a gif image in the instructions listed under it!

QUESTION: What goes in the identifier field? Anything we want? Or do the identifiers need to match the type of extra we have installed for instance 'Discussion Ender"?

2. On all the default awards there is no path to any images yet the awards show images! WTF!!!?

3. How about some REAL instruction on how to add awards of our own if this feature actually works at all please!

Thanks for finding this! That solved my problem as well. Umm sorry this mod is awesome but the documentation/phrases SUCK!!!

So to be clear: The name of the identifier has to be part of the image file name for it to show in the postbit or in profiles. Example: award_discussion_ender_nail.png The identifier for this must be: discussion_ender_nail. You can leave the "Path to Award-Image" field blank. WEIRD! MISLEADING!

I will be re-phrasing all the fields in the "Manage Awards" settings on this mod so that clear English is used!

If you remove it through the product management no real data will get loss. You will to do a recount after that, to have the points addedd to the users. Shop items and awards are not removed with it.

When i turn the thanks an groan addon off it stops.

PROBLEM 1: Photopost Pro Database Error

I imported the new xml file for adding Photopost Pro. Your XML file has the wrong table prefix so a database error is created when doing a recount.

When I tried to do a recount of: Update Experience Points I get the following database error because the table prefix in the xml fle is: pp6.

MySQL Error : Table 'xxxxxxxxx.pp6_photos' doesn't exist

SOLUTION:
Edit the photopost_pro.xml file. On line #50 change: FROM pp6_photos to your Photopost Pro table prefix which is usually just pp_ without the 6. This solves the database issue when performing a recount after this product is installed.


Problem 2: Ranking Pagination Breaks Layout
On the ranking page the pagination is a big problem the numbers go way way off the right side of the page! This update didn't fix this it really broke it!

At least your pages aren't breaking your theme! LOL WOW I have 600 plus pages and only a few hundred members.... yea there is a bug or two in the 3.8.4 beta release which I am sure the developer is already working on fixing.... RIGHT! LOL

Please CALM DOWN a bit. If you would read the changelog, you would know that ("- Awards: New Awardlisting. You can choose whether this or the old style legacy blockwise Awardlisting.")
Also, in the new list style there are also descriptions. So why making here such a flurry?

My installation has pp6_ as prefix. Did you changed that for yourself?

Your themes must support template hooks. Please compare to the original vBulletin templates.

The problem is im not really that good with php and execute things like that. I allready check my admin panel but cant find a new button to execute it. And i cant find anything new in the "Manage Products" file.

I just got lucky. I need to install a new forum for a friend of my with the same mods that i us on my forum. This way i can check if thanks en groan mod dont work with the new update.

Please check if the vBExperience Cron is correctly inserted. Also, increasing points happens currently only by doing a posting.

'points_misc_dsl_vbexp' does not come from vBExperience self, it must be an addon for vBExperience. Please check the installed plugins and disable them.

the xperience folder is now be located in your root directory. not in forums or forums/images like previous versions.

I thought that the cron should be doing this automatically but the banned member has had the activity award the whole two days of his ban until I did the manual recount.

I did a manual recount when I first installed the beta per the instructions so I'm just not sure what's going on.

I will report back later if things change.

Ok, I took a screenshot. In the activity section there are 4 options to look at. Those 4 options don't fill the top space. There is a dark grey area that looks like it shouldn't be there. Looks like 4 options span across 5 sections unlike the 4 options on the 'Statistics' page that spread across the whole area without a dark grey box at the end. On my page I have some PM's stuck between AM's and if it counts up then it registered a new day at 1am because from 12am-12:50am it was Friday and starting at 1:10am it says Saturday. In the 12am hour there are some 12PM's stuck in.

Fixed in next version. It's the field "Promotions" that are not enabled on your system. I will remove this empty field.

Yes, I noticed this also. Seems the array sorting is not working like intendet. Will try to fix that for the next version.

What is not understood about the big and small? Big 32x32 size image will show up in the awards page as stated and the members profile Experience section as stated. Small 16x16 shows up beside username in posts as stated and in the memberlist beside username as stated. I'm American and can understand completely.

This is a free modification and were lucky to have coders that update products!

I think Phalynx needs to give an "e.g." statement under each field entry. The install/upgrade docs need serious rework. In one sentence it say's:

"By using custom styles you should have in mind that you also must copy the images to the correct directory of the style, thats mostly under "/designs/" or "/styles/". "

then in another it states

"1. Copy ALL (I mean ALL - That is a common error!) files from upload_via_ftp/ to the server. Espacially take care of the images, copy them to your style misc folder if you use a customized style."

Then another problem, realizing this is still beta (but worked in version 3.8.3 without any edits), is the default awards. The filenames are wrong. I had to put the entire path to get the default and basic activity award to show up in /xperience/awards folder. The filenames by default are wrong compared to v3.8.3. It's frustrating to manually makes edits to get things to work that should work the same in prior version. You fix or add one feature and it breaks something else that worked perfectly, like basic filenames and paths for default awards.

Then I find this, but being a keyboard tuner, I'm not sure if this is wrong to begin with:

There are no files in the /images folder that begins with "award" as part of the base install. *He thinks he's interpreting this correctly*

It's beta, yeah I know, but give a guy a break and consider your customer. The worst is when you think your customer will know what to do and you think you think everyone understands, but you're a coder and probably assumes too much of your user base. Don't do that because 9 pages of ????????'s should send off an alarm that your soft skills and ability to convey explanation to get to the root cause of these 9 pages can be circumvented easily by properly documenting and adding some valuable tool tips in the option fields. The outcome will be more time for yourself and not having to answer what I am sure is stupid questions to you.

I'm still trying to figure out what "Rich" username means :erm:

But don't listen to me, because I'll lurk and ask stupid questions when the obvious is not clear and there continues to be contradiction and error wherever I see it. This is my favorite mod, so I have no other life than to watch this unfold and to see it make it primetime.

Some image name seem to be incorrect.

The script is looking for xperience/awards/award_posting.png

but the file is named award_posting_16.png along with a few others.

So let's say you want to show 'award_activity_16' icon next to the members name, then you want to type in:

Thanks! Finally a real answer! You need to put the path from now on and not the file name without the extension as in previous releases. My suggestion is to have an example of this in the description because the "Engrish" used is poor in many places, especially the instruction and documentation.

Why not test it for yourself?!? Enter a filename and look if it works, if not try again with another combination. You can check what filename has been outputted. That would be far more FASTER than typing novels in multiple postings and rap me not knowing perfect english.
I will NOT answer anymore to your postings if you continue to strike a sour note on my work.

I like constructive critics, but not destructive ones. The fielddescription will be improved with next beta.

The identificator, like used with 3.8.3, is dead. You need to specify the full URL to the image now. Ask yotsume about it ;)

This "bug" is by design as it was requested this way. To change this behaviour, I need to recode that part. It will be corrected with 3.8.5, not earlier.

You have still Mods installed that does not have the needed columns. Removing completely does not help, it makes it worse. Uninstall ALL ADDONS and then install them again to recreate the columns.

Beta 4 of the new vBExperience 3.8.4 has been released. This release brings outstanding changes to the way vBExperience displays Awards. I have also recreated icons for the awards and also provided 32x32 icons. Every Award has also an explanation of what fields it uses for calculation.
Also, two additional Pointproviders, improved Activites and several fixes are improving the whole package. This release is stable, the next version will be the release candidate.

The kill_xperience.php has not killed any vBExperience 3.8.4 Beta tables. With the newest Beta 4 the tool can also kill the new tables.

You can remove them also manually.

You cannot use it without the / at the beginning. As you have a subfolder for the forum, you need to specify /subdir/xperience/icons/test.png

Also, where can I set so that full awards page can only be seen when logged in. Currently, even after logout, it can be seen by anyone that knows the direct URL.

Please check the permission "canviewmembers" and remove it from unregistered members.

Changes primary in bugfixes and also re-work of the Activity, it now calculates also activity on different sections (Visitormessages, Social Group message, Blog (if installed), Postings), not only postings. New is also the support for the modifications Helpful Answers, vB Tournaments and Ladders, Post Ranking System.

Upgrade Instructions
1. Copy ALL (I mean ALL - That is a common error!) files from upload_via_ftp/ to the server.
2. ReImport product_vbexperience384.xml, allow overwrite
3. If you modified any of the vBExperience templates, revert them
4. Check all Awards, correct their URL to the new path /xperience/icons/. If you don't have custom awards, use the "clear award"-command to clear and re-create them.
5. Run AdminCP/Experience/Recount

i am noticing the same problem. the activity does not change anymore yet i installed 3 different levels. i run the recount, and the maintenance tool option but still no change. plus the average posts per day is showing only as 6.67 which is no correct. i have a guy post 200 tmes in the last day. my ave posts per day before the latest upgrade was above 200

thanks for the help. i think i will revert back to the previous version. its activity calculation is more of what i prefer. a lot less members with close to 100% activity. maybe in a future release you can offer the option for us to choose which factors will affect activity score, much like how you have done with the awards calculation feature in the newest version

The activity was not reduced, it has been expanded to more sections. It takes different other things into account like Visitormessages, Social Group Discussions and Blog Entries.

Anyway, for the next version I included some options to tweak this. Also an additional calculation (also setable) has been implemented:
Beginning with the second day the user user is not active, a factor of 0.1 will be reduced, to a max of 9 days. (f.e. User is three days not online, so his activity is multiplied with 0.7, if he goes online, a value of 1.0 will be taken.

I did a recount and the new member that joined today with the post count of 3 won "average post per day" award. I feel this is unfair to regular long time members but the award is good calculation.

When I create a new award for helpful answers and only select that addon from the list, it does not pick the correct person compared to the helpful answers report. I'm assuming vbexperience add other points into the calculation?

Is there inactivity calculation so that points/experience get subtracted each day/week or to move them to lower group/demotion?

Is there a way to enable/disable viewing of each listing (Ranking, Group Ranking, Awards, Activities, Earn Points, Statistics) by group? For example, only showing ranking and statistics to members and the rest only for administrator/mods.

This happens both in the shop and on their Activity tab, and is labeled with phrases like "You purchased/received {1} item(s). Click <a href="{2}">here</a> for a listing." It happens randomly - definitely for anonymous users, and then some logged in users. From looking at the product xml it looks like $ownitems[cnt_items] is being counted incorrectly.

I've also been able to confirm this on 3.8.3 and earlier versions. Googling common English phrases from vBExperience will find other boards' shops, and from there you can see the bug in action.

Here are two screenshots of it. The profile one is from a user named Alex, who has never purchased anything. The shop one is from a logged out user (shown with altered phrase).

You will need to create three awards and name them xx gold, xx silver and xx bronze. Select the query position for gold the 0, silver 1 and bronze the 2. Generate awards and the awards are assigned in the right position.
There is no automatic assignment regarding leveling.

Also, your "Average posts per day" is very low, plus you have only 42 Members. A 100%-Activity can be reached very easily, because it takes the postcount/etc. of the best 10 people. As there can be only one member with 100%, all others with 100% are, depending of the average postcount, decreasedto 99.x%

Taken this into consideration you can just increase the timeframe to f.e. 40 and also test the new Activity settings (posts, visitormessages, group messages, activity reducing per day)

In post section, I looked through about 8 pages so far and on those 8 pages, the members have 99% when I move my mouse over the activity bar. Yes, you are right. The % is showing a rounded up/down value. Will change this for 3.8.5 to show a value with a decimal like 99.5%.

Also, not sure if this was intentional, but under vbulletin options, I see 'experience activity' and 'experience social groups and ranking' but do not see the same under the experience menu.

Since the last upgrade, and this one .. the time it takes to recount has increased substantially. I noticed that once I did the last upgrade - the awards were never updated again. I think this may be because my vbulletin is timing out on the automatic recount scheduled task. Is there a way to reduce the number of users it is processing per cycle in the scheduled task like we have in the manual recount?

You have still the error with points_misc_dsl_vbexp - that does NOT come with vBExperience. Just look for all plugins that have a vBExperience in the name.

A dutch translation would be great!
