Description
vBExperience is your feature packaged solution for motivation and satisfying your users. vBExperience is an advanced Level/Promotion and Activity System with Shop, Awards and Activities. It will calculate an activity and experience score for every user based on their activites on the forum. Now your users will see how their level is increasing by participating on your forum.

This mod was developed by me because I was never satisfied with the post count. Communities are not only defined by post count, they need much more parameters: Are the postings the user creates helpful? Are his threads frequently read? Does the user participate on the community by posting pictures, attachments, leaving visitor messages, tagging threads? All this can be answered with this mod.

Comments, suggestions, translations, bugs, etc... are very welcome! Support is only given to people who have clicked Mark as Installed.

This mod will work with vBulletin 3.7.x and 3.8.x. For vBulletin 3.6 you will need vBExperience 3.7

There are mainly four things visible for the users: The users score, his level, his next level up in %/points and his activity in %.

Additionally you can install these modifications:
- Thread Necromancer: Gives (minus-) points when a user is posting in old threads.
- Scrupulous Poster: Gives points for editing posts. Award users that are editing own posts instead of doing double post.
- Deletion Addicted: Gives points when an user/nod soft-deletes post, thread, visitormessage, groupmessage or picturecomment.
- Arm of Law: Give points for moderators who are using the infraction system
- Discussion Ender: Give points for people who are the last on a discussion
- RadioActivity: Reduce points for every day the user is not online

Also, there are already addons available that are working as Custom Data Provider (CDP). A CDP can extend vBExperience by collecting data and adding it to the vBExperience datastore. All point providers can be used for Awards and Shop.

You have to install these hacks for your own, vBExperience doesn't install nor touches these.


vBAdvanced
There are three vBAdvanced 3.0 XML modules: Most Active Users, Most Experienced Users and Last 20 Activities. Import them via vBAdvanced AdminCP.


Awards
There are six default awards: Most Popular, Activity Award, Posting Award, Community Award, Frequent Poster, Blog Award, Calendar Award. The awards are shown in Rankings and Profile. You can set them also to display in postbit near the username. There is a scheduled job running once a day (02:30h) to calculate them.
Via AdminCP they are completely customizeable and can also be assigned manually.
Awards can be created for every data provider.


Rankings
Showing User, Level, Awards, Activity Points (experience, thread, post, user, misc) - sortable.
Since 3.8.3, there is a also a ranking for Social Groups

Shop
A virtual Shop will motivate your users to earn more points. You can define categories and put virtual items with pictures in it. A currency can be defined seperatly for every item, e.g. 20 points from threads or 100 points from gallery. Users can purchase the items, they appear in their profile. The costs of the item are substracted from their xperience points. Additionally you can set quantity of the items.
The Shop will motivate your users to collect specific points to buy an item. Optionally you can show the last purchased items on postbit.
You can put virtual items in it, like WoW addons: Sell WoW Items in exchange of f.e. thread points. Great for RPG forums.
Non-Virtual Items like bold Usernames or Downloads for Points are already on my todo list.

Earn Points
There is an overview for the user on how points can be collected, with a list of users own points. All data is beeing pulled from the database (settings, phrases)

Statistics
The statistics is showing a Top-X list of the leading users. Usefull for optimizing points of the point provider. Only enabled point providers with results will be displayed.


Promotion system
To motivate users to do more on your forum I created the promotion system. By reaching defined xperience points the user will be moved to another usergroup - where you can set graphics, shadows, highlighting, etc... What is interesting in combination with this: you can give the user more possibilities f.e. larger avatars or bigger PM box. A log of the promotions is available.


Calculation of the activity
The system calculates the activity by taking the average post count/visitormessages/group discussion/Blog entries of the ten most active user and comparing it to own post count. This can be set to count only the last X days, f.e. 21 days.


Settings
You can control how many points are given to every calculation. For example you can give many points for creating new threads but only a few for views of that thread. Setting a value to 0 will disable a setting.
Additionally, you can set ignore users (f.e. for bot users), forums (f.e. offtopic forums) and usergroup id's.


Performance, Big Boards
vBExperience has been tested on smaller and also on some bigger sites. I know from boards with around 120k users running this mod smoothly. More about this topic can be read in the file readme_optimization.txt


Frequently asked questions
Q: How do I change the name Experience to something new?
A: You can change the name via phrases. Just search and replace all phrases that contains vBExperience.

Q: When installing vBExperience, does everyone start from scratch, or will it automatically configure everyone's points based on actions before the install?
A: If you recount, vBExperience will calculate ALL existing data since the beginning of the board.

Known Issues:
- Awards: On "Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread" awards are only shown for the user who is viewing this.
- Awards: If activated in with rich username, they are attached to the username. If the username is linked, the awards are also linked. If a link is underlined, the awards are also underlined. This behaviour is hardcoded in vBulletin and cannot be fixed.
- Settings are showing only a blank page, read here: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=26979#note74140
- If you completely remove vBExperience, you need also to uninstall the product XML manually from the pluginssystem

- Just a short note: Condition in Achievements and Promotions are calculated in POINTS, not in counts of items.
If you choose 10 Day, you must enter the points needed for this.
For example: You have an achievement for 10 days. You have set 2 points for every day since registering. Calculation: 10*2 = 20
You will have to set 20 as the condition.

Seems your *NIX (?) server is a little bit case sensitive regarding table names - I'm using Windows 2003 Server and there are no problems with that.

I fixed all XML, the XLS and updated the ZIP.

I fix one of them :) but still the one that not showing the vbexp on the info on the left , it work on default Style ..... i think i have to edit that manualy!!!

this work when I ran a cron now rather then 3:00 AM :) it worked fine

No, it will not work with 3.6.x as it uses too many of the new vB3.7 features.
Let's see if I get some spare time after the GOLD release of vB3.7 to reduce the functionality and get it running with 3.6

Are you already using vbexperience_level_3_big.xml? If yes, read the chapter "Levels", there is a description with the Excel Sheet.

Thanks for sharing. The Level 70 is missing - 69 is the last. You are doing very big steps from level to level - do you have such a big board?

No I don't have such a big board. Maybe I increase the points a lot or I will reduce this in future. The list contains the exact experience points you earn with a char in World of Warcraft, thats why the steps are so high. I will try to remap this to a pointsystem which will work for my board.
Btw. there are 70 steps in the file. Level 0 - 1 is also one :-)

I found out a small issue with your product. On the users profile page I can see that the users Reputation is used to calculate the points a user have. On my board the reputation system is disable. Your product should not use and show this line if the reputation system is off.

When I delete threads and posts from a user the points are not decreased, they stay the same. User can get a lot of points by writing threads, wait 15 minutes and deleten them then or thank to a posts and afterwards remove the thank and give it later on again.
The point system should reflect this.

The point system does only count posts and threads that are not marked as deleted. But it does not refresh as soon as the post is getting deleted. It calculates only every 10 minute the data for users that created a new post. At the latest the xperience get's corrected downside.

The point system does only count posts and threads that are not marked as deleted. But it does not refresh as soon as the post is getting deleted. It calculates only every 10 minute the data for users that created a new post. At the latest the xperience get's corrected downside.

Hi Phalynx, this is what I've done.
I create 5 new threads and ran the cron tasks manually.
I checked the points and they increased correctly.
Then I hard deleted the threads and ran every vBulletin clean up cron.
To be sure that everything is correct, I also used the vb maintenance functions for recount threads, userstats and so on.
Afterwards I started the points systems cron tasks again manually.
Then I checked the Points system on the user profile page but I don't see that the users points decreased, its still the same.

You have to go to maintenance and do a xperience recount. In the cron only people with fresh posts will be calculated.

I'm using 100% of the cell, so if your design does not define a fixed size it could expand it easily. Try to change the template xperience_gfx and change the table width to a fixed value f.e. 100px

The red bar shows your current level. If you are the most active poster on your forum, the green bar should be on 100%. If not, there is someone with more postings in the last x days ;)

Uploading profile albums is in work, for blog I don't have the product.

Additionally, vBGallery will be included in the next release.

I'm announcing now also that the algorythm for activity will be changed in next released. Currently it takes only the highest poster, the new calculations takes the average of the 10 most active users. It's now much more attractive as a single poster cannot unweight the activity of the whole forum.

To recalculate you have to run Maintenance Tools/Update vBExperience points. Scheduled jobs are only valid for users who freshly posted.

After every import of an level product you have to run Maintenance Tools/Update vBExperience points. You can switch them like you want, but always with update points...

Levels
vBExperience works with defined levels and points. You can define the needed levels for your own - I've included an MS Excel Sheet with the raw data and also three XML Samples for small, average and big sites. You need to import at least one of the three level products. Just test it what fit's your board:
vbexperience_level_1_small.xml - for small boards up to 3000 users
vbexperience_level_2_average.xml - for average boards with around 3000-6000 Members
vbexperience_level_3_big.xml - for boards which have more than 7000 members
vbexperience_level_4_huge.xml - if "big" is not big enough for you


My question is, what happens as the board grows, or God forbid, shrinks? Would/When you upgrade to the upper/lower levels of .xml files, what are the implications to the board? Just import the XML that fits to your board. You can import average and after that big, later even the small one! With the XLS Sheet I also provided it's easy to define own levels.

Another possibility is to set lower points for some actions, f.e. posts are weighted with 0.5 points instead of 2... But don't forget to run maintenance tools/update vbxperience points, it takes the new defined levels and recalculates them for all users.

Take a look at the provided rankings - if there are too many high level users or even users with level 100 you should upgrade. Same for too low defined levels, f.e. most active users have level 20: you should consider to downgrade.

Ok, from what I can tell it has not worked. I set the points per donation unit (which is in USD) to 20. I made a $15 donation, confirmed it and then updated the counters. I then went to the xperience tab in my profile to see if I had received 300 points but I didn't. Also under the xperience tab in the profiles shouldn't there be a section that says Points for donations just like it says points for posts and threads?

Man, i know the points are showing in the postbit and in the memberinfo, but it shows only the level experience, not the total poings.

Lets says, to get level 32 i need 5450 points... when i get the level it displays this, but if i continue gaining points, just display the same 5450 points until i level up to level 33 .. .and than it shows 5650 pints.... ¿ is there a way it can display the exact points i got ?...

I cannot confirm that bug, maybe I'm blind or you are expecting something that is not here. On my boards it is showing the correct value of the xperience of the users, not the levels.

Check the settings, you can set the size of the bars to a fixed size.

No, $template_hook[postbit_userinfo_left] is for the postbit (showing a thread). Navbar is $template_hook['navbar_buttons_right']

First, you could try to decrease points the user earns. Take a look a the rankings, you will see what area has too much points, e.g. posts... Go to AdminCP, Settings, vBexperience: Points and decrease the points (in this example) for posts from 2 to 0.5
You have to run recounters otherwise the new settings will not be active.

That error has been fixed in 3.7.7 - if it does not show up you have maybe not upgraded correctly. Please re-update:
Copy all files from ZIP/upload to server, reimport product, revert all vBExperience templates.

Update! vBExperience has been updated to 3.7.8, offering great new features. This is a big step forward to a final version. I'm also proud to announce that vBExperience 3.7.8 is now compatible with vBulletin 3.6.8! The only difference to vBulletin 3.7 is the reduced profile due to the size of the old 3.6-profile. Of course all vBulletin 3.7 features like social groups etc... cannot be calculated.

I have no clue why the phrases are missing. You could check the phrases:
xperience_admin_recount
xperience_admin_stats_level
xperience_admin_settings
xperience_admin_settings_points

If they are not here, you could uninstall the product (level product not required) and install again. You will have to run recount after install.
