In the final version it seems you'll have to fix the option that allows the admin to change the number of items displayed in the post bit because when you change the limit it does not affect the number of items displayed.

1 - creating custom awards - I *think* i made one, but it doesnt show up even after a recount and cron job run
2 - how do you modify which awards show in order.
Maybe that is your problem: You will have to set the order to a number higher than 0 so show the award.

I have already figured out how to utilize it and am more then halfway done with an ibProArcade Champs addon. ;)

That is right. Currently it is fixed to max 5 items, regardless of the setting.

I downloaded and installed vbExperience thinking I would be able to use it for a very simple purpose:
Only distribute 'experience' points when a user receives a thanks
After a user has reached a certain amount of 'experience' points their level also increases.
Level 1 = A pre-defined usergroup I already use
Level 2 = A pre-defined different usergroup I already use
Level 3 = A pre-defined different usergroup I also already use

And nothing other than that. However - I am really scared to use the promotion system because it wreaks havoc on my usergroups (as I know you warn me about) that I have no idea how to prevent and already had to restore a previous version of my board and re-do everything.

I can't figure out how to control the promotions or to make it so that it's just in the simple scenario way that I want it.

Just do a simply trick: Assign your existing usergroups (Admin, Mod) as a secondary group, so vBExperience can assign primary usergroup with additional permissions.

I cannot figure out how to (properly) assign my existing usergroups as secondary usergroups...

The last time I tried activation the 'promotions' - it not only removed admin access from the two admins of the forum and made them 'registered users', it also moved over everyone from another custom usergroup I had (about 15,000 members) to 'registered users' as well.

Could you please explain to me how I can properly set the primary/secondary usergroups so that this doesn't happen....

Please check AdminCP, vBExperience, Manage Shop. There you will have to create categories and items. It's almost the same like with Awards. It's pretty self explaining.

Have tried adding items.

Created a category. OK
Created an item, assigned it thumb , main image, id,qty,costs,costfield,

Saved

Created 2nd item, for same category, as above, and changed id to 2

First item, cat id 1 2nd item cat id 2

Saved.

Now I have 2 items, with (pos. ) < nothing in there, presumably this should read pos.catid

The 2 items, are both the same, ie, being the last updated shop item added.

Any suggestions what are we doing wrong.?

Dropdown would be cool, but this is much work to do.

That depends on many other things than posts. Just import a level, recount and see the rankings. If you see too much people around level 90 or even 100, take a smaller one. And counterwards...

You will have to do a full upgrade by copying PHP files to server AND importing changed XML.

Bug - At least I think so. If you look at the tab vBexperience and look at "Points for posts" you'll see that the Sum and the Posts numbers are equal. I put in "10" for each post so the points for posts should be ten times the actual number of posts. Instead they are both equivalent.

That is all that shows up on my site when this addon is enabled. I was able to globally disable the hook system in config and ultimately disable the addon.. For now anyway. Would love to get this working. Any ideas? I installed .14Beta3

I didnt actually try with .12.. This would be the first time I ever installed this addon.. I decided to go with the beta. Should I uninstall and reinstall .12? Or should I just overwrite with .12 (files and product)?

activity points are not useable as costfield because it's value is percentage. I removed that now from choosable fields.
Undo: Just delete the transaction. Until the final version comes out you will have to do a manual recount on that user (just write a posting and wait for cron job). The manual recount does not work currently, see above.

I don't see a bug here.
Actual post number where? In your profile? vBExperience counts also posts that are in forums who are excluded of post count. Enter such a forum in the ignore forums setting.

The Shop must be filled by you. You can put virtual items in it, like WoW addons: Sell WoW Items in exchange of f.e. thread points. Great for RPG forums.

Just put your mod/admin usergroups to the ignore usergroup setting in admincp.

The transaction is beeing deleted, but the user does not get points back immediatly, only if the user writes a posting or you run a recount.

As a paid request of the The Brotherhood of International Gamers, a virtual Shop has been introduced.

How to upgrade?
1. Copy ALL (I mean ALL) files from /upload/ to the server. Espacially take care of the images, copy them to your style misc folder if you use a customized style
2. ReImport product_vbexperience3714.xml, allow overwrite
3. If you modified any of the vBExperience templates, revert them
4. Run Maintenance Tools/Recount

This is something noone can definitly answer you. It depends much on the performance of your server and also on the options you selected. I would suggest to try it out.

In case vBExperience is nothing for your forum, you can uninstall it.

Don't use the 0 in manual assign, it will disable manual assign. If you manual assign an award, it will not be automatically assigned. Use 0 or UserID(s), but not a combination of both.

I have 40K members, 701K posts and 51K Threads, My board is hosted on a dedicated server.
After Instaling your mod, load average =~ 20
immediately after removing the mod, load average < 1

The last version vBExperience 3.7.14 GOLD did not overload my server :up:

the second user has 2 awards: one silver and the other bronze ... however if i check in the in the profile he has the awards (also in the buddy list, and near the nickname in the posts runs correctly) ... so i think this is a 'small issue' cause in showthread and forumdisplay it shows only the gold awards :) or maybe i forgot something ...

trying to understand Custom Data Providers

I'm in the extras folder looking at the example & the notes for setting up a custom data provider and I have some questions. I'm trying to make an addon for vBookie Cash.

after following the directions to make the changes to the example script, i can see there is still more that needs to be done other then making the YOURPROVIDER changes.

I changed this section

Bah, just noticed doing this forces it to change all the awards from within the site (like the tab, and whos online section) :( Is there any way around this?

It's definitely something to look at for future versions; the medals are cool, but you have to mouse over them to see what they are, where as it would be great to have an option to allow them to be placed under the username, below the users title; yet have the medal inline within the rest of the site.

It seems to display only 2 of the 16x16 icons..........anything above 2 shows a broken image in the postbit. In addition, if I set it to o to disable it, the images still appear in the user's information.

I have checked and rechecked the path to the images, but all is correct.

Your original code has a problem where it only tracks the last album of the users that was processed. This updated code will correctly process all albums a user has.

Here is a quick fix that I coded up that will fix the problem but it will also make the awards linked with the name for now. I chose to fix it in this method instead of just fixing the link building part of it because fixing it would leave us with a blank <a href="#"></a> tag or something similar.

I removed vBExperience completly, trought kill_xperience.php (i didn't unistall the product).

Then i removed uploaded files, but the forum and admincp was unaccessible (php error).
Now i re-uploaded files, the forum is accessible but i cannot see the menu in the ADMINCP...

Hey Phal. I'm testing this out now. Are there any detailed instructions anywhere on how to use the shop, add items, images, etc? When testing this out, all it says is "you don't have any items" but it does not tell the user how to get items, etc. If I'm missing something, please let me know. Thanks a bunch.

If the design is intentional, then there's really no point of the blue bar, since the value will be equal or close to the orange bar (your level progression to the max lvl).

First of all, you will need to click "Mark as Installed".
Second, the intention of the blue bar is to show the progress to the next level in %. But there is since 3.7.14 a bug in it. It's already addressed in 3.7.15

You will have to wait for further updates to use promotions via GUI. On Inside SupCom I set the promotion system to be active with 9 usergroups, dependable on their xperience.

One question:
After installing it on my testforum the usernames in the postbit don't show big anymore as in the Additional CSS Definitions 14pt bold.
When i disable the product they show normal again.

What do you mean with experience xml? Levels? You will have to import a level and see if your members are too high or too low and import smaller/bigger level...

anyway, the forumdispay and shothread 'awards issue' remains ... it showd the secondary medals only if you have the gold ... otherwise nothing is showed ...

edit: also i've found some incongruous values with the activity awards ... the stats shows me that the first is 'Nosfe' and 'Feror' is only 3rd, but if i go into the awards page Feror has the gold award ... check the last 2 attachments ...

Hi again. What I was looking for, was whether or not the users actually lose their *level* (not just points) when they buy something. Let's say they are level 11 and spend x amount of points in the shop, does that knock them down to lvl 10 or 9 or whatever?

Then does this mean that with the standard values, members get promoted to register member? Or is that just a value that the software recognizes as the lowest value? i.e. no promotion to usergroupid 2.

Thats mathematics. 100% Activity means 100%. Sorting is not really usefull here. Cannot change this behaviour.

Only 1 style issue: the bottom of the statistics doesn't close normal. Getting an extra space and no border-color on the bottom.
I have it with my own style but also in the default VB style.

Hi again. What I was looking for, was whether or not the users actually lose their *level* (not just points) when they buy something. Let's say they are level 11 and spend x amount of points in the shop, does that knock them down to lvl 10 or 9 or whatever?
The points you decide as a currency are substracted from users experience, yes. If they spend enough points they can lose a level - or more.

Also...about running a recount to make the changes active, i did run a recount and it still shows the vbexp bars for my admins.

Nothing, as these depends on many other factors.
Just import a product, run a recount and take a look at the rankings:
- Top Members are up to level 30-40: Import a higher level.
- Top Members are up to level 60-70: Great. Just keep the level.
- Top Members are up to level 80: There is only small room for growing.
- Top Members are above level 90: Take a lower level.

By reaching defined xperience points the user will be moved to another usergroup. Uou don't need usergroupid, only if you want to move your users to another usergroup by reaching X points.

No, activity is only counted using posts. For vBBlog, v3Arcade and ibProArcade are only points calculated.
