Instead of trying to step into much bigger shoes than my true design skills award, I'll just spell out what I'm trying to achieve and maybe some other members here will join forces and recommend how to implement it.

You engineered here a second-to-none statistical MOD, but it has only a passive contribution to one of our primary goals - to encourage our users to write more, help others more, and in general - improve their contribution rate to the forum. The chief psychological way to achieve that is through recognition. Show them the way to become recognized as greater contributors and they'll go for the bait.

That means that user rating, title, awards, etc. should show everywhere and anyway possible (next to their name); either as a textual title, icon, color scheme, etc.

As of now, you need to make special efforts in order to check activity scores of another user. That may be a good management tool for the administrator, but it isn't the optimal podium for the common member to be seen and brag about his or her excellence.

I hope that I made sense, and thanks again for your great work.

Thanks for the flowers. Indeed I created that mod to achieve exactly what you described - to encourage users to be more active. The main visual "punch line" is visible for everyone in the postbit - the center of every discussion. The first bar displays how advanced a user is, the second one is really secondary and can be hide as it is only interesting for the user self, last but not least the last bar shows the users activity in relation to others.

Espacially in combination with vBulletin 3.7 there are a few more interesting extensions like social groups, real friends an not unconfirmed buddies, visitor messages, tags, etc...

To accomplish the more visible thing I created also the promotion system. By reaching defined xperience points the user will be moved to another usergroup - where you can set graphics, shadows, highlighting, etc... What is interesting in combination with this: you can give the user more possibilities f.e. larger avatars or bigger PM box.

Seems xperience.php is an old version. Please check if you uploaded ALL files from ZIP/upload/ to the server.

I've attached the file "class_xperience.php" for vBulletin 3.7 Beta 6 - download and copy it to your server to /includes/ ONLY if you are using Beta 6.

vBExperience 3.7.10 should handle this automatically. Use this as a hotfix.

List all Forum ID's that should not be taken into calculation, seperate them by a semicoln, e.g. 4,5,8. This is useful for offtopic forums.

No, I don't have a clue what could cause this. Try to set bar width to 100%.

Reverting is only needed if you modified the vBExperience Templates.

Jelsoft changed the DB Schema in Beta 6. You will need to upgrade to vBExperience 3.7.10

My sites are visited with around 24% users with IE6 Browser. 32% Firefox 2 and 29% IE7.

Hi Phalynx,

I just uninstalled the mod via product files and removed all the uploaded files, then reinstalled it again, but its still doing it only this time when I try to change the width in % it wont change it.

Is anyone else having problems or do you have any advise on what I should do etc?

UPDATE: I managed to fix the % not working, the text going along was stopping the bar from going smaller, I turned off the text and the bar went smaller. But no matter the width the green bar still has the little bit sticking out.

I switched to the default style and it looks like it works there, I think... but its not in my other skin.

Any ideas?

It runs every 10 minute, yes. It recalculate stats for every user that posted freshly. How many users do you have? I have seen boards with 25000 users running smoothly.

I've removed the other templates and left the one i was using, reinstalled with overwrite and it didn't made the necessary changes.

Ignore Usergroups is not working fully on all vBExperience functions. See readme.txt: Known Issues: - Ignore UsergroupID's is not fully implemented

You will need $template_hook[postbit_userinfo_left] - make sure it's there. Take a look at the origin 3.6.8/3.7 template to see where it should be.

Following the idea of having more "Awards", a good sugestion would be a Admin to create Special Awards and give them on the chosen member. (it would work for the Member of the Month, or Moderator of the Month).

Total amount of experience points received in a calendar month. IMO reputation should be an important factor, but any admin can set this for him / her self.

I installed this mods on my forum and it is perfect. Works without problems. :up:

I also wish to give you some feedback suggestion for improvement on one aspect of it: namely the point counting for attachment views.

As you know, attachments are posted by different users on a board and a given user is often encouraged to view (and provide comments on, etc...) attachment(s) posted by others.

The current version vBExperience 3.7.10 takes into account views on OWN attachments through the "Points for attachment views". It's a kind of reward for posting interesting attachments. This means that if a user nicknamed A click on attachments posted by user nicknamed B, C and D, the reward goes to B, C and D for having posted interesting attachments :up:. vBExperience in its current version does not encourage/motivate user nicknamed A to view attachments posted by other users . :(

It will be excellent if vBExperience mods could also give the possibility of rewarding points to user nicknamed A for viewing (taking the time to view or click on) attachments posted by B, C and D. This could be described as: "Points that are added for every view on OTHER USERS attachments".

Can you explain me better how work the Points for "thread votes" ?
I give XX points for each vote of a thread to the owner, or it multiply the total vote value as in the infractions case?

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: fetch_avatar_from_userinfo() in /home/wyrd/public_html/xperience.php on line 89

Not a huge problem but any help would be appreciated.

I'm using it on my Demo site. Have 9 Usergroups and defined a level system where the user get's more possibilities when he reached a defined level, e.g. more pictures, more space, etc...

You are using vBulletin 3.6? If yes, please download the vB3.6-version of this hack.

That depends on the location you are in. If you see the awards somewhere on the page you can use $awards - if not, they are likely not parsed in that specific location.

There is a cron running that calculates every 10 minutes the experience points for every user that has made a new posting. By doing recounters it checks also for promotions. No extra recount is needed.

Install this version only if you want to test it! This 3.7.11-RC *can* be installed on live systems.

Upgrade Instructions
1. Copy ALL files from /upload/ to the server. Take care of the images, copy them to your style misc folder if you use a customized style

3. If you modified any of the vBExperience templates, revert them ALL

With 3.7.11 I'm getting a database error when running recount. Tried a total reinstall of the mod and gets the samme error still.

I've been translating the mod to spanish, and in the phrase setting_ xperience_ use_ promotions_ desc the closing </font> is missing :p At least in 3.7.10 :p

Also, it'd be very helpful if the phrase xperience_points_needed used arguments, i.e, "{1} Points needed". It'd be very helpful 'cause the correct spanish translations would be "Necesita {1} puntos m?s".

anyway, CHECK HERE (http://www.nowhine.net/board/xperience.php?go=awards) the final box is blank ... also the title of the awards are lefty, maybe is better if you can set them in the center of the box ... :) and the first box is smaller than the others ...

Set award's display order to 0 to disable it. It is written in small letter just below the display order. Don't forget to recount awards...

edit: when i upgrade the product it runs without the uncached template BUT the awards aren't generated ... so when i generate the awards it comes the uncached ... so the trouble is onto the awards ...
