Why do you want guests to play your arcade games? It will waste your bandwidth. And look at the arcade as a feature, where users have to register to play it.

Ok, after searching and searching this thread, I was not able to find a fix to solve the problem of the arcade not sending email notifications or pm when someone beats anoter members highscore...

there is a post that redirects you to the v3arcade.com website for the fix, but well, the website is down...

would someone mind posting the fix here?

I have installed this on our site, and it is wonderful, but I can't figure out how the Arcade Awards show in the postbit/profile? I have checked it to show in the admin cp but it's not showing people's awards in their profiles. Any clue as to where I went wrong? Thanks!! :)

awesome, just what I needed :) yesterday I looked for about 3 hours for this... right now I was just browsing the thread and i found it lol :) As I've said, a user must allow other users to challenge them in order for the option to appear.

If you'd rather have this as an opt-out option instead of opt-in, run these 2 queries:


Query to update current users to;
Allow Challenges, Use Private Messages and Someone has challenged you:

UPDATE user SET arcadeoptions = '41'
Query to auto-enable the same options for future registrations:
ALTER TABLE user CHANGE arcadeoptions arcadeoptions int(10) UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT '41'

i just impexed my old vb with my new vb board.My question: Is it possible to manually run sql queries to my database to merge the high scores.My new site already has high scores, and i have the final sql back-up at my old vb and i can pick the arcade info out of it.

I don't think he "ripped us off". I agree the release is very very overdue but consindering it's a free product made on his own time, he's entitled to release whatever he likes whenever he likes with no obligation.

Having said that, it would be nice if he'd pop into the thread and at least update everyone, even if it's to say "I'm not bothering anymore"

Thats the thing its not free alot buyed it, i buyed it to have full fast support, copyright remove and downloading of betas.

So yet again we have been ripped off. The full i'm working on this and that and you get this and that is old and bull.

Looks like yet again i'll have to go back to the other arcade hack.

The arcade is free. The branding free license fee was just that. You get to remove the v3arcade banner at the bottom of arcade pages. The other stuff were added benefits to branding free subscribers, but were not part of the fee. Please keep that in mind. Supposedly, those fees ended up being donated to a charity.

With that said, I am not happy with the silence either. I too would like news on a new version and author support for existing versions.

This has been John's tradition. He did the same thing for vb2. He releases a hack and doesn't support it. Move on. Seriously.

I'm running 3.5.4 with v3 Arcade 1.0.6, and I've doublechecked all tempcode and checked the option in Arcade setting --> "Enable Arcade Awards" that: If enabled, users will have Arcade awards displayed in their postbits and profiles. It work in the Postbit but not in the Profilepage...

The v3 Arcade support center has always been available, but a few hours ago I discovered that mail piping is completely broken - so if you haven't received a reply to a support message, please resubmit it via the web interface here: http://www.v3arcade.com/support/

Also, if you've ever sent in a message via email and didn't get a reply, that's probably why. If you submit a message to the web support system and reply to the email you get back, it doesn't seem to get added to the ticket. I'm working on getting it fixed, but in the meantime keep on replying via the web interface.

Heh, yep. Sorry I don't check this thread very often. :(

Someone told me that some people were getting angry about the lack of support people were getting, which I found surprising - since every few days myself (and a friend) would check the support center for tickets. We always answered them, and no-one should ever have had to wait longer than a week for a reply.

So, I checked everything, asked some people some questions, and it seemed that people who were emailing responses weren't ever hearing back from me. It turned out that thanks to an automatic cPanel server update mail piping was hosed - and because tickets were still being created by the web interface, we never realised that something was up.

I'm going to send out a newsletter from v3arcade.com now to let people know what's going on. Hopefully the powers that be can set up a forum for v3 Arcade support here on vbulletin.org, so we can do away with the support center.

Basically hes the time line of v3arcade..

1. John returns and decides to code the arcade for 3.5.x

2. He plans 3 releases..NONE ON TIME BTW!

3. He tells us about his plans (ie arcade pro and massive feature list)

4. He disappears, no word telling us why etc, deadline is coming for the next release

5. Returns, tells us it will be done in a few weeks time.

6. A few days later, you close the forum saying you have forum problems and will move server, sort out the skin AND release a new version WHICH HAS NOT BE DONE FOR MONTHS NOW!!!

7. You return..probably because you want to gain reputation to sell your product or something and make even more money and you make excuses blaming this and that.

The short stort:
1. Your support is JUNK!
2. Your product is going to simple die now as people move to the fantastic ibpro product which has OUTSTANDING support (24 hours response!) while you say it takes up to a week to get a response from your support (which btw has a converter (from v3arcade to ibpro) meaning anyone can move with no data/games lost)
3. You are a lier and simply can not be trusted with anything like this.

Just leave and dont make people pay for something they will not be getting full advantage of! People are sick of this to be honest. (Even though I dont pay for it as it doesnt deserve it, but you know what I mean.)

Now dont get me wrong, you are a fantastic coder, when you want to be, but you are very lazy!

I just installed vb3arcade on vB 3.6.0, and when i go to add any games via AdminCP, i get the error "There are no more games to import"

It shows no games in my gaming section at all, but there are games in admincp/games to import.
I installed this on 3.5.4 and had no issues, is this a problem with 3.6.0? The product says its fully compatible with 3.6.0, but i have no idea what to do to try and resolve this problem.

I respect your comments cause he did leave alot of people high and dry who bought a branding free version (which was suppose to have support). But on the other hand hopefully john changes someday and can compete with ibpro and the support and updates given there.

I bought the branding free version too, branding free dont give you special version of the hack, it s like giving him a donation for the great hack he build up for all of us, some times ppl just forget that this coders are here helping for free and building up this great hacks for us to use.

Myself and a friend have both still been supporting the Arcade via the support center, here: http://www.v3arcade.com/support - we have a 1-3 day turnaround on replies, the reason a lot of people (such as yourself) have been saying we have crap support is that we had a technical issue with our Kayako/vBulletin integration which meant that some tickets were automatically closed by accident, and our broken mail piping stopped responses from getting through. It's all fixed now, though.

Regarding your accusation that I took people's money and deserted the project, the only thing I have ever sold is branding-free licenses, bundled with premium support. If I was running a "pro", paid-for version, things would be very different with regards to updates. But unfortunately, I'm a very busy person. There's no way I can get around that unless I start doing the Arcade full time. You call me lazy, but would you give up your job to make sure you can keep a free addon fresh?

I will keep on updating the Arcade, but I can only release updates when I have spare time. Hospitalization was the reason for the last delay - after which my spare time has been kind of limited, sorry about that.

One forum is still running it (vb 3.5.4 patched) (as I want to be lazy and not worry about it breaking if I convert it and fixing it and such)) and my new forum on vb 3.6 is running IBPro due to the lack of activity here by John. Didn't see the point in installing a hack, that appeared not to be supported by its author. He showed up as active on vb.org but hadn't posted a response in a major hack/mod that he had done. I figured he was done with it, or just didn't care.

Sometime in the future I will be more than likely converting to IBPro Arcade, mainly because I know the support is there.

I know we all have lives with real jobs that pay the bills, but spending a quick 5 minutes to make a post every so often stating that you are still around, but loaded with work for work (that pays the bills) or such really isn't that hard to do. And us folks who use your hacks/mods free or paid, would be more on the bandwagon cheering you on, if we knew you were around or even active enough to post once a week. I was once supporting you, but I fell off that wagon. I guess only time will tell if the new version is coming or will be a contender with IBPro Arcade.

You can import many IBPro games into v3 arcade. That's what I've done for the most part. Though some will not score correctly. But a good 30-45% or so will import just fine.

kinna harsh "crappy" this is the reason why HALF of the good coders dont wanna code anymore....you prefer one its your choice...but qualifying someone's work to "crappy" when you have no VALID reasons (ugly error message) and probably cant even code HALF of this work is really uncalled for....

Nope, vbulletingames.com isn't run by me - it seems to be a good service though, although I don't know if it's still active. A friend of mine registered on the site a few months ago and his account was never activated. As it stands it's the best place to get hold of games right now, let me know if you have any luck with it. :)

Robert (aka PixelFX) is helping me compile a collection of games to upload through the online game store, I've been working on adding them - although my health has been a bit shakey recently and I'm not sure when it'll be up and running. kinna harsh "crappy" this is the reason why HALF of the good coders dont wanna code anymore....you prefer one its your choice...but qualifying someone's work to "crappy" when you have no VALID reasons (ugly error message) and probably cant even code HALF of this work is really uncalled for....

I have this errors with some games too, but i find where was the problem.
Download 7zip, extract the tar and tar it with 7zip again. Then u can import the games without any problems.

I installed v3arcade, and my forums are run on SSL pages. I modified the "codebase" tag to use https for the plugin (so I don't get any security warnings)....however...when I play a game it gets to the end and the game just sort of hangs instead of submitting the score. It does this for each of the default 5 games.

If I load the page using http:// instead...it works just fine.

There MUST be some incredibly tiny fix that would solve this problem...does anyone have any suggestions??

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. Yes it is hardcoded into the flash to submit to arcade.php, but the problem isn't where it's submitting to, it just never actually does the submit (when it's on an https:// page).

When I am at:

https://www.mysite.com/forums/arcade.php the game loads, I can play, but no scores, just sites there after the game ends....

http://www.mysite.com/forums/arcade.php everything works fine

In the flash code that is hardcoded into the games itself it has this line:

this.prequestvars.sendAndLoad("./arcade.php", this.pranswer, "POST");

So, that shouldn't be a problem if it's https:// instead of http://

I think it's something else, possibly in the HTML that loads the flash movie??


Oh, it gets more interesting....it seems to work in Firefox! HOWEVER, when it goes to actually do the submit I get this error:

OK I'm back AGAIN and confirmed it DOES work in Firefox. The error I just posted above happens whenever a score is submitted that is not a new highscore. It is related to this code around like 1203 in arcade.php, I suspect because I am using mysqli instead of plain old mysql..anyone have a fix??

Im having a high score sumbit problem as well..

when it is a New high score (or even a new top ten score) it automaticly kicks you back to the forum HOME instead of submiting the score..

I've got round the problem for the time being and that was to change the sessional timeout to 2000 seconds. Obviously it's not an ideal situation but hopefully someone else will come up with a suggestion soon.

It might be a cookie timeout problem, I'm doing some testing on it now and if I find a problem I'll address it in the next release.

Also, it's not possible to edit scores - since it doesn't really make sense for admins and moderators to be able to edit scores unless they wanted to cheat. But if you really need to edit a score for whatever reason, the only way to do it is to go into the database and change values manually.

I don't believe so, using v3arcade under 3.0.x they came with a PHP file to install them which worked perfectly. I had no luck with the same install scripts on 1.06/3.5.x so I manually added them using a 'Manual Addition' tool which I found here on VB.org somewhere.

Is there an easy way to identify an SWF as being an IBP game?

BTW - when I say not accepting score submissions, what happens is that nothing happens when you click the "Submit" button in the game (the button clicks, but there is no browser activity all all)

Can someone tell me specifically where each type of file goes? Right now I have the swf's in the root folder called "games". I have the jpgs in the "images/arcade" folder and the php's I don't know where they go. eep.. help please?

you should be able to translate most of the text by opening the xml file in your favorite text editor and editing the phrases. the phrases that you will want to change start at about line 2201 - do a text search for :
<phrasetype name="Arcade" fieldname="arcade">
and start editing there.
all the phrases are in the format:
<phrase name="phrase_name"><![CDATA[Phrase Text]]></phrase>

**don't touch the phrase_name** only change Phrase Text

you may also want to change the error phrase line 2381:
<phrase name="invaliduserid">...

and the frontend redirect messages just below that:
<phrase name="commentdeleted">...
<phrase name="commentsaved">...

that should allow you to translate most if not all of the front end text. if you also want to change the control panel text, just modify all the rest of the phrases in that same section.

once your changes have been made, just save the .xml file and re-import it. you shouldn't have to re-upload any of the other files. this shouldn't mess up any of your users high scores or settings, but i take no responsibility if it does for some reason.

I was just explaining how to recover an Arcade installation if the files have been moved around.

If you want to install new games, simply extract them into one big folder, and upload them to admincp/games. Then use the mass installer in the "Game tools" section in the Admin CP.

You should also add to your to do list a clean unistall of your arcade. When I and may others unistall it, it simply stays. The product errors causing problems both security wise and stress for those who would not know how to clean it.

I wish I could say the same :( When I upgraded my board from 3.5 to 3.6, the Arcade self distructed. I could no longer run it and the database went haywire. I tried to rerun the XML installer script, and it seemed to go fine, but the database tables never get recreated, so I see errors like:

I have fallen victim to the email/support troubles you were having. I really DO want to keep our arcade with you but I really need some support. I may ask some dumb sounding questions, but I am VERY new to this-so I beg forgiveness and patience. We HAD the arcade and then it was removed when I bought the site-all the info is still there-so I decided to reinstall it.

I managed to even do the vB template changes. I can see "arcade" in my nav bar, but when I click it on it says I do NOT have permission to be there.

In one email I DID get from you-you referred to this problem probably being related to my usergroup permissions. When I click on usergroup manager>members there is NO arcade permissions shown.

I'm SURE this is a simple mistake and it's just my total inexperience in doing this that is the trouble, but I would really like to make this work.

Look in usergroups / Usergroup Manager and then select Edit usergroup and scroll down to Arcade Permissions

i think i have uploaded in a wrong place . i uploaded all of the files that were in Files Directory ( in zip file ) in Froum folder ... so now i have one new directory with name FILES in my main froum folder .. is it right place or i must do something else before import .Xml file ?

Do the games from older vBulletin versions work with the upgraded v3arcade?
IE: the import scripts. The file samplegame.php in the admin control panel install and delete?

Tell them to tick the remember me box when logging in...better still, make it ticked by default like it used to be in vB 3.0. It's a small change in the navbar template, from memory. then this problem shouldn't occur.

The problem you were experiencing is the same that is coming up with us as well.

I'll follow MRK B's response on this one. I remember making this change before in v3.5.0 to default to remember me always being checked. But can't recall how I did it.....bummer.....

I get this from time to time.

It has been a problem in all versions of v3Arcade for as long as I can remember.

If you're clever with databases you can mess about and update the champs table manually but generally it's more trouble than it's worth.

I don't know of a fix for it though.

I just installed this fabulous arcade today and 0777 was what the instructions say for the CHMOD.

Now CHMOD the /arcade directory and all its subfolders to 0777

Make sure that there is no installer.php in your forum's root directory, if so -> delete them !

anyhoo the question i want to ask is how difficult would it be to change the location of the arcde i.e. from arcade.php to games/index.php

would it just be the usual edit all instances of "arcade.php" in the templates and arcade.php and then add a chdir at the very top or is there more involved?

Extract and upload the games you want to import into the arcade/games folder. Make sure that you CHMOD the following folders to 0777 for this import:

However, all these and subfolders/files are 0777 chmodded, still not importing anything for some reason

How do you get the v3 Arcade menu option to appear in the Admin Panel? I assume you need to get a license or something from v3arcade.com, but since the forum is down that's a no go.

What are my options before I waste time uninstalling this and trying the competition out.

What you need to do is upload the UNZIPPED files to admincp/games/

So you should have usually 4 files for each game.

After uploading the games into the directory and installing them from the Admin CP.....looking at the Arcade games on the site....I can only see the text about the game. When I click on the link for the game....the game does not start or even show me a graphic of the game.

Hi SpaceStar and Chadi.

What you need to do is upload the UNZIPPED files to admincp/games/

So you should have usually 4 files for each game.

I have done this as well...but for some odd reason....I only have a text link showing the name of the game. Click on it...and it takes me into a screen that looks like the game is suppose to open in to....but it's blank.

Any ideas?

Update....

What I had to do was manually upload the files into their respective directories and now all the games are showing up in the Arcade and I can play them.

I still don't understand why I can't install the games from the Admin CP. All directories that are required to be 0777 are.

its in your user options in your usercp......

you just need to make sure others have it ticked. I havent tried that feature but I have it set to accept challenges

What is the 0777 all about? I do not get that at all. Also, I installed it correctly and when I go under Arcade in the Navbar it takes me to the game page, but when I click on a game it gives me a page not found error whenever a game is clicked to be played. I am lost! Can anyone help?

Deleting a category does nothing. I click delete, nothing happens

Any chance of having a feature simular to the other arcade system on here, whereby it shows how many of the top scores a player has.

Also can't the tournament system be made easier - ie: without having to go to the forum to click on a username, or am i missing something simpler.

As the main reason i went for this system and paid for the branding free was that is was going to have legal games installed and so far we only have 9 games i have got shed loads on a disc but i want it all to be legal.
Also how long before the next update as the last i heard i was on your site and the dead line had passed for the updated version then the site went down and that was months ago.

Yep, loads of new games have been added - about 50 and counting. As soon as the site opens again they'll be available.

Which version of vBulletin? Can you list all the files you have in your includes/xml directory?

Just a few graphics to tweak and some extra text to add (to make sure people know what they're doing when installing games), and we're done. I'll get that done tomorrow, and the site will go live again once I'm finished.

I wish I could say the same :( When I upgraded my board from 3.5 to 3.6, the Arcade self distructed. I could no longer run it and the database went haywire. I tried to rerun the XML installer script, and it seemed to go fine, but the database tables never get recreated, so I see errors like:

Invalid SQL:

SELECT COUNT(*) AS total
FROM arcade_games AS arcade_games;

MySQL Error : Table 'idob.arcade_games' doesn't exist

Hi John, did you by chance see my post? Is there a SQL query I can run within the admincp to rebuild the arcade tables manually? No matter how many times I do the reinstall it never recreates them.
