Nevermind, I fixed it. Had to add a closing tag to the end of the 'challenge_x_in_the_arcade' phrase.

This person was getting a underline i peoples posts. Then said he fixed it buy adding a closing tag in the posts bits I assume.

What would that tag actually be? I have the same issue and have tried several thing's I can't get it to work correctly.

A Great Enhancement For The Arcade Could Be To Add The Option To Select For Each Game The Usergroups that Can Use It In Particular (Leave Blank For All userGroups), of Course This Should Be a Second Validation Among the Usergroups that Can Use The Arcade, (this is set for all Particular Usergroups)!! :up:

The Idea is that Curently the Hack Allows to Set Permissions Based on Post Counts and other Options, but Perhaps the Administrator Would Like to Reserve the Usage of Several Games to some Particular Usergroups (More Priviledges), Allow Some to Use the Games, but Some Games to be Restricted to Some Usergroups!! ;)

Of Course, Adding the Option to Allow Also Some Users, Would Complete the Set Of Permissions; I've Seen This in Other Hacks and Is Very Flexible and Complete!! :up:

Help - first of all consider me clueless so be kind with instructions please...

I have uploaded the files last night... a couple of my skins have the arcade link at the top but it says you don't have user permissions. I have gone into my usergroups but do not see an option for adding the arcade. Did I miss a step somewhere? Can someone give me idiot proof directions of how to fix this? I made i through 15 pages of this forum but nothing seems to relate to what I need.

I have logged out and in so it's not that, I have done database refreshes. I just feel like I missed a step, didn't move a file, something.

For some reason - John felt it necessary to close down the entire site to alert the public that they would update the modification for 3.7, even though it works fine.

Seen it before, then 6 months later theres a update added that adds a few new things but none of the big stuff that was said he was working on and thats why it was taking so long.

I was one of them people who 'payed' to have the v3 version to help bug fix and to support a big hack but then found it was pointless because john would then just go missing for 6 months and so on.

Don't get me wrong its a great hack but things are gone about the wrong way and its killing if not already killed off what could have been a great hack but also a great way of income for John and its sad to see and I'm sure many others feel the same way.

You Should Consider IbProArcade, because Must of the Games You'll Find Wont Install Complete in v3Arcade but Will Install Very Well in IbProArcade!! ;)

I Installed v3Arcade First but Changed to IbProArcade for that Reason and Also Because in the Web Site of v3Arcade didn't Offer Much Games than 50!! :down:

You'll Find on Internet Like 3 to 5 Forums that Will Allow You To Download Many Games For IbProArcade!! :up:

Search for IbProArcade on this Forums of vBulletin.or, they even Have Dedicated a Forum for that Mod, and also Many Additional Hacks (Mods) have been Developped for it!! :up:

In IbProArcade Installation Guide there is an Option to Transfer your Current Games from v3Arcade to IbProArcade, and your Scores and Additional Information, so that You Don't Loose Them!! ;)

How can I upload games?

I downloaded the games from the list in some thread here, but it doesn't work.
I entered to the AdminCP, then to v3 Arcade category => Game Tool.
There I can click "Start" to get games from the FTP folder: admincp/games or /games.
I uploaded the games to there, but it doesn't work too.

And another thing that I tried - I uploaded the file: "pacman.game.php" to "admincp", then I opened it, but it wrotes me:

I have the permissions set to allow me and I don't see a thing. I am using a different style than the default VB but that shouldn't matter right? I placed the images in the proper folder as requested and also placed them in the images folder for my style. I have set the options in the AdminCP to what's appropriate. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Thx for the help bro. I am able to access the arcade from the direct url so it's most likely an issue with the style I am using. But your help lets me know It's all installed correctly and I just have to sort out the templates.

Regarding v3 Arcade not supporting IBPro's v32 games...

Here is a plugin I did to add such support. See the attached file.

If you want a improved 'iB "Pro" Arcade - Mass Game Import' function you also has to edit the arcadeadmin.php file.
This improvement also copies the gamedata folder in the tar package.
Note that the empty file v32game.txt is not copied (nor an empty index.html, if there are any).
This doesn't matter if you use my plugin since that file isn't checked anyway.

How to do it:
Import the attached file 'iB Pro v32 Arcade Game Compatibility.xml' as a plugin.
(Via "Plugin & Products" > "Download / Upload Plugins" > "Import Plugin Definitions XML File" in your Admin CP.)

Create the folder "arcade" in the forum root.
Create the folder "gamedata" in the newly created "arcade" folder and CHMOD it to 777.

Edit the file admincp/arcadeadmin.php
Warning! Copy the original arcadeadmin.php first, just in case...
You are doing this at your own risk. This will copy and delete files on your server. Don't blame me if anything goes wrong.

It's a simplified version of it, for sure. But it handles those requests.

Yeah, I never bothered to submit random values and I only do a simple check to verify.
That's because...
1. I am lazy.
2. Those who knows how to cheat will probably cheat anyway. It would be a litte bit more work for them, but it wont stop them.
3. It isn't worse security than all the current games available for v3 arcade anyway.

My goal was never to add security, just to make more games available.
Anyone who wants to do it properly are welcome.

Nothing special is done, just installed following the instructions.

As far as I know, or can think of, there is nothing in the arcade that can send you back to the main page without some kind of error message.
So I am not sure what kind of problem you can have, sorry.

v3Arcade should run on 3.6 or 3.7, all versions.

I am currently running it on 3.7.0 Beta 3 with no problems, and it'll work on beta 4 also.

I keep seeing people asking about how to install new games , where to find new games etc etc , so i decided to write a script that gets games for you and puts them into the games folder ready to install with everything you need in a pretty simple manner.

My only issue is that these games are taken from other peoples sites that already have them , and im not sure about the moral implications of doing this.

Before i release the script , i want to know how people feel about this , and also if anyone wants to offer their sites for others to be able to get games from so they can install these games on their own site.

Anyone worried about bandwidth usage , all i can say is one download is the same as one person playing the game , which isnt that high.

Let me know what you guys think about this whole idea.

His website, v3arcade.com, had many games which all you had to do was select the ones you wanted to install, click download, and it took you to your ACP where you logged in, and it installed them automatically.

Unfortunately, he decided to shut down his site in "anticipation" for 3.7, which I have no idea why he did.

i think it's how many searches u have to do to find games some people don't like to search and i think v3arcade offers it all on his website i guess?

I keep seeing people asking about how to install new games , where to find new games etc etc , so i decided to write a script that gets games for you and puts them into the games folder ready to install with everything you need in a pretty simple manner.

My only issue is that these games are taken from other peoples sites that already have them , and im not sure about the moral implications of doing this.

Before i release the script , i want to know how people feel about this , and also if anyone wants to offer their sites for others to be able to get games from so they can install these games on their own site.

Anyone worried about bandwidth usage , all i can say is one download is the same as one person playing the game , which isnt that high.

Let me know what you guys think about this whole idea.

I totaly agree with you if we could put the automatic install system into the arcade systems here at vb.org but you will not be able to as of copyrights.

Your best bet is to ask game maders if you would be able to use there games as i have been doing.
I have asked over 200 game makers about there games and im still emailing them.
Me and mrzeropage are asking vb.org what we can do so that we can release this on vb.org, but for the time being vb.org will not let you coz of there T&C.

The script i have written doesnt contain any games itself , it just lets people get the games.
Its up to the individual using the script to check the copyrights on each game and to make sure they can use that game on their site , and that they have the permission to get the game off the site they want to take it from.

I suppose it can be compared to torrents in a way in that torrents themselves are not illegal , but the content contained in a lot (majority these days) can be illegal which makes people think incorrectly that all torrents are incorrect.

If anyone wants to try out my script and let me know what they think send me on a PM and ill forward it on to you. It can gather games from ibpro arcade and vb3arcades but please check with the site owners before downloading any games from them.

Solution , basically all you need is the short name of a game and a website that already has the game. The script uploads the swf for the game , the 2 images and creates an install PHP script for it and puts all 4 files into the admincp/games folder ready for the mass install button to be clicked .. then all the games can be installed at once.

I see one very big problem with your script.

1. Members who use this script will not ask the websites if they can take there games.
2. its crosssite scripting.
3. It can be used without asking a website owner if they can download there games.

The way you have done this is all wrong and i can see it being used without site owners knowing about it.

What files do you wish to edit ?
In VBB there are PHP files and Template files

The PHP are the physical ones you upload , the templates are in admin control panel and styles and templates .. there are other files are well, but it depends what you wish to do.

But if some website admin SOLD a game (e.g. non-free PNflashgames) he paid for it and copyright is fine. Using your tool and ripping that sold game off the site and re-use it on your own is piracy.
The better, clean way would be an addon for the arcade so the admin can choose to offer his games (or just games out of certain categories) for free download. If enabled, a "download game" appears in the gamelist.

This way the arcade's admin has control over what is happening to his games.

Its a PHP script. Most people could write the part that gets the swf and gif's , but this one also writes the installer file as well , which makes life easier - places all 4 files in the /games folder in admincp ready for the mass-install part of V3Games to install them in one click.

The code is users and if anyone miss uses the script it is down to you as the owner of the script, as you will be letting people steam files from other sites.
Weather or not a game is on someones site with or without the game owners permission does not mean that you can steal the game from someone elses site without asking the site owner first.

With your script you are letting people do this and the person that is responcible is you as you are the owner of the script to let people do this.

The way you are thinking here is that logging into another website to play a game is stealing , because your basically using someone elses site to play a game on it. Once you have the owners permission to play a game on a site , and by joining you do have , then its perfectly ok to play the game. If you have his permission to download the game then again its not stealing. If someone puts a game on their site that has a copyright issue then its up to the site owner to screen that game for copyright. The script i have lets you get a game , its doesnt install the game for you , the V3 installer does that , which i didnt write.
My script will allow a user to get a game , but it doesnt in any way install the game for you.

Its the same as someone getting a zip file of say 500 games off someone and installing them all on their site - is the person they bought the game off responsible for them installing the games on their site ?

It does work with the /gamedata-folder as well , but its only in beta mode for that ... thats a tad more complicated.

CHMOD is an abbreviation from ' Change Mode ' and what that command means is to change the mode of the file to 777 which means read, write and execute access for everyone.

If you have FTP in windows then right click the folder and select properties and set it to all boxes ticked.
If you use an FTP program , just look for CHMOD/ or permissions and set that to 777
if you have SSH - browse to the folder and type CHMOD 777 foldername

If your stuck still , check google for CHMOD and it should lead you in the right direction.

You can set the scores displayed to zero in V3 arcade which wont really stop the high scores system but it wll stop then scores being displayed.

Theres a small bit of editing to be done after that beacuse it throws up 2 division by zero errors, but it works ok.

Do you have any .swf files in your admincp/games folder ?
You need 4 things in there per game .... an swf file, 2 images files and an installer php for that game.
If you have issues with the PHP installer let me know the shortname and the long name of the game and i can create an installer PHP for you.

And I would assume the file type extension could be modified to some-other and the other functions disregarded, and give the user the means to download that specific content (of course depending on chmod permissions, bu twhats to say that this person has no idea about file type security?). The frame work has been built, its just a matter of applying additional parameters.
In the wrong hands, applying a concise loop time, would be devastating on bandwidth levels.

After reading through all of that post , i find the irony within it is that the word concise means 'getting to the point quickly' which doesnt fit into whatever you were trying to describe above. If your grasp of the english language is a basis for comparison then i dont think your understanding of scripting can be trusted much and if you meander around scripts as much as you meander around the point it's no wonder you couldn't understand the complexity of the system.

its quite hard to get games for the arcade these days unless you wish to buy a zipped file off someone trying to make a quick buck off people in need.
Copyrights are given as the excuse most of the time , but its usually just because the people with the zip files want to sell them instead of give them away free.

admin panel --> Usergroups --> Usergroup Manager --> And then select the user group you want to edit and give them permissions to use the arcade.

You should have a V3arcade option in your admin control panel if you installed correctly

We have discussed this among staff and we came to the conclusion that this script would mostly (if not only) be usefull in situations where permission to use a game can not be obtained in a regular way (read: Warez). For this reason we can not allow this script to be released on vBulletin.org, offered in any way or further discussed on vBulletin.org.

Seems like you are following old instructions.
Instead, copy the files to the admincp/games/ folder and run the mass import function from the admincp. (v3 Arcade -> Game Tools -> v3 Arcade Mass Game Import)

hi, im having a little problem, on the Board, whenever someone posts, there is a little box under the box where the user posted that says

This should do it

Where xx is the minimum number of posts per day you want to change it to.

I never used to have problem mass importing games until now.

I have changed my admincp dir to a different name, so I am thinking that may be why.

I have admincp/games chmod to 777 with the swf the php and the 2 image files in it. plus I have done the same for my admincp dir just to try both of them out.
plus I have images/arcade chmod 777 and games chmod 777

Everytime I click on start, I get There are no more games to import.

But none have been imported.

Anyideas what I can try?

That did not help still being redirected to index.php and a white page and i don?t think this game is v32 or v33

Have you got a portal like vbAdvance or something similiar?
Or in any other way not using the original vBulletin index.php file?

In that case you may need to add some code to your index.php file so it handles the submitted score.

Great mod :) Very feature-rich.

I have a strange problem with it giving me the vB "You do not have permission to access this page" error, even though I had set permissions for all the usergroups. I ended up setting my own user group 'Can Override Permission Checks' to yes, which allowed me to view the arcade; and after setting it back to no I was still able to view it. Others (in different user groups) could then view it too. Don't know what caused this, maybe some sort of caching.

Go to your main forum and left click on the persons name. You will be able to directly challenge them in the Arcade. They will need to accept first.

Yeah, for some reason only v3arcade games are listed.

You can edit the arcade.php file and change it to include both v3arcade and ibpro games

In arcade.php find:

Find:

Its not a default option in the profile.

To challenge first of all make sure it's on via the admincp then go to that members post and challenge them from there also to challenge via profile put this link somewhere in ur MEMBERINFO template I put it next to the $userinfo[username].

Seems like you are following old instructions.
Instead, copy the files to the admincp/games/ folder and run the mass import function from the admincp. (v3 Arcade -> Game Tools -> v3 Arcade Mass Game Import)

Well It would be good if some of the more useful addons were rounded up and placed in the default installation of v3arcade as usually when a new version comes out its either completely new or you have to reinstall at least some of the older features I hope this doesn't happen with the new version which I know is being touted on the official v3arcade site.

Thats because those permissions don't refer to website permissions it refers to usergroup permissions

In admin CP Click on Usergroups > Usergroup Manager > choose the usergroup you wish to allow permissions for.

What do u mean by manually loaded ? I normally just use the mass import which is what it was designed to do

oh i upload each game itself . so each game comes with its .swf file.. i dont only have the games form the v3 i have flash games from newgrounds and other developers.. my question is how do i find the name for scoring the game?

It doesn't matter even if u add a game manually it can't be just any old game. The game must be designed to work with either v3arcade or Ibproarcade to play with scoring

I installed v3 Arcade on my forums the other night. The only problem is, is that the images aren't loading. I checked the settings. They say that the images path is:

getting another issue when unregistered users finish the game, it gives them a database error as below. (i want unregistered to be able to play so thats ok)

Invalid SQL:

Can anyone help with this..

ive installed this add on just fine, but i want guests to be able to play aswell.

but they are getting this message

"you need to have a reputation of at least 0 points. Your current reputation stands at points"

I thought setting this to zero in unregistered guests permissions would allow them to play - am i missing something ?
I fixed it this way
In arcade.php, find:
$vbulletin->userinfo['posts'] = 0;
Below it add:

$vbulletin->userinfo['reputation'] = 0

This one I have never seen before. It seems that it will occur when a guest plays and there is no score since before. When you have one score this will not be a issue any more.
But I guess it could be fixed this way:
In arcade.php, find:

i've installed a few ibp games and they work fine, but I just get a 1 colour screne when I go to submit the score. it doesn't process...

any ideas?

Ok, so maybe I'm blind, but I am having a tough time finding games. Can anyone direct me appropriately please? When I go to v3arcade.com all it tells me is the following:

Where do I find moar games? :D

actually forget this. After much testing it was severly messed up. I took the plunge and upgraded / converted to ibproarcade - MUCH MUCH better system and over 5000 games to choose from.

Plus it has a TON of support and is up to date with vb 3.7.1

I refuse to go to ibproarcade. I will if forced, but for now, v3arcade does well even this old version. I like it's light-weight backend, attractive templates, etc. ibproarcade is quite ugly.

I have the latest arcade and vb 3.7.1.

John will be updating this. It usually takes him a bit but he always comes thro. If you look on his site he has closed it down like normal to work on the new release for 3.7 same as he did for 3.5 and 3.6.
