John, just had another slick idea.. I've noticed you have restrictions built into the system based on post count, posts per day, etc. How difficult would it be to allow access based on usergroup????

Look in the XML file. in there you should see the SQL Query for adding the tables.

Feature suggestion:

How about a feature where we can make all games only playable to those with more than x posts. It's a lot of hassel doing this game by game when you have 100's of games ;)

Just to let everyone know... I am still recovering from surgery. Slow activation times on registrations at vBulletinGames.com are to be expected for the short term. Also, the forums are a bit lagged behind from opening due to the same. I have gotten a few nastygrams on not being activated within the stated 48 hours, so...

Mouth surgery. Cut out a large section of soft pallette, took out tonsils, straightened my septum in my nose, opened and carterized the internal nose tissues... and a couple other things I cannot remember right now. All because of a little sleep apnea. (They said severe). So, I am not on the pain meds right this sec, but the need is coming! I can feel it now. The pain will last for months, the doc said. After about 3 months, I should be virtually pain free. Yes, I took to "do it all now and get it over" approach. Otherwise, a surgery here with pain for a month, another one later, and possibly another 2 or three later after that. I say bugger to that. Do it all. Starting to wonder if I made the right choiuce, but it is too late now!

In any case, more than anyone really needed to know. The forums will open soon enough. John, Zero, and coders out there for v3arcade and ibProArcade, I would like your permission to put your modifications up on vBulletinGames.com for the respective arcade types. They were sent to me as a collection of games where I was told the author was consulted, and permission was given. Obviously the issue here is that the author isn't the copyright holder of the property, so that could cause problems. Pacman is definitely going, but I'll look into removing the others depending on what I find out.

I can make Flash Games. So... I'm wondering, with this new delivery system, is the v3arcade becoming a commercial enterprise? Will you be selling games? Will game developers be able to make money too?

Is there anyway of making a pop-up box for arcade awards in postbit_legacy?

I have some members with over 80 awards and going to any thread they have made a post in always takes ages because it loads all the pics in and slows the whole thread down.

Like if you clicked on their user name it would be a link Arcade Awards and when you clicked it then a box could pop up with all their awards?

It is highly possible that with the style you are using, the menu options are included in the header template and that's where you'll need to put your arcade link. I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, and I discovered that the navbar was really driven by the header template in some styles.

- Admins can now choose to flip the columns and have the smaller panel on the left, with the larger content area on the right.

Any chance of having a feature simular to the other arcade system on here, whereby it shows how many of the top scores a player has.

Also can't the tournament system be made easier - ie: without having to go to the forum to click on a username, or am i missing something simpler.

Doe's that mean that all the hacks i have installed may have been upgraded? I thought an email was sent out if you pressed the install button, or is that just for the hackers moral.

Installed this new version for us (from the old 3.0.8 install) and got it to work after working with it. Great job on the new look/features.

Two issues:

We have a dark style board and the Add to Favorites icon next to the game name looks bad on a dark background. Is there any icons made for a dark background?

Also, the time and date in the News & Events block is black and nearly impossible to read. Where do I change this at?

My arcade is running fine, and it is wildly popular among my members. However, a couple of members have said they have been unable to submit their scores after playing a game. My first thought was session timeout from cookies if they haven't ticked "Remember Me" when logging in.

Ideas? :)

I think your first thought is correct. At least, that's the issue on my forum. When they tick "remember me" they stay logged in and are able to submit their high scores.

It's an excellent, open-source hack. You can't really be angry at John for being unable to fully support the modification; he's not getting any revenue from it - so it's difficult to find time to support it.

There is a 3.5.x version its called 1.0.6

I'd have no problem paying for it, if support wasn't a problem. His site was down for months on end, the support section wasn't even working for a few months. Tried submitting tickets and got nowhere. He often leaves folks hanging. I don't see the point in paying for something that might or might not be supported.

Put IBPro on my other VB forums to test/play with for a bit. So far I'm really impressed and happy with it. Got a problem? Head over to their support forums within vb.org. Zero is more than happy to help at the drop of a hat. Obviously folks are gonna go to where they can get answers and not have to wait weeks or months for a response. =/

I always focus on being compatible to vBulletin 3.x.x so all from 3.0.0 up to current 3.6.1 with all the same scripts :cool:

If only the executionsorder is the problem in the productXML you should manually remove them, it should work normally either.

Does John tries to support a favoroute hack like this ? Yes
Does John tries to fix the bugs ? Yes
Do you ask what really John doesn't need to do ? Yes

And afterwards poeple complain why there is not so many good modifications at vb.org anymore. Because of people like you who doesn't know any single word being polite or kind.

Well, put it this way - the reason I'm coding something better is because someone sent me a PM saying that they have someone on their forums with 352 trophies. :confused:
I had this problem, there used to be a mod to put them in standard vB dropdown menus which I tweaked a bit, but still use to this day.

To the whiners:
The simple fact is this. As a standalone product v3arcade is pretty good. So it doesn't get updates too often and John isn't overly reliable... so what. He's released the hack for free. He doesn't have to support it. Hell he doesn't even have to visit the thread after the release. People should be grateful that he released it, it's as good as it is, and at least tries to help folks out.
Still, it's much easier to critisise and find fault than to accept the good about it, eh?
Read the first line of my sig. Parts of this thread are a prime example of how true the statement is.

Could I just point out one more simple thing. If MZP was to stop supporting ibp tomorrow, people would be in uproar about that too "stuff this, I'm going to v3arcade!!". These are free hacks given by people donating their free time. If you don't like it then learn php, mysql and the innards of vB and do something better yourself.

Apparently you haven't read the previous pages at all. I've helped out and praised quite a bit. But was left waiting around when his site closed and was basically non-working for a few months. That's what turned me off. More than likely turned a few people off V3. Eventually got tired of waiting and waiting, and checked out the other arcade script, that has its own premium support area which is actually useful and folks respond back as well as the creator himself.

I've donated to a few hacks that I've used and liked or found useful for my forums. I wanted to do the V3 one...just when someone "closes their site" for a few months, disappears (is active on the forums, but doesn't respond to many, if any posts here), it kinda makes some folks loose their faith in them.

It's really not that bad. Take a deep breath. Now exhale. Download the files, and turn your forums off. Also make a backup of your database.

Then follow the instructions. It's really not that bad.

And now I'm free of V3. Just used the coverter, and it worked great. Had to do a small fix for my VBPlaza/Bux intergration, but it wasn't that bad.

**Clicks un-install...cyah folks...no more of me complaining...off to better things. :cool:

I dont see where to make any extra template changes apart from those in the instal textfile..... I followed the install instructions, and now the upgrade to 1.07 and all works.. but no way of challenging.....

I kept getting a problem where unregistered users did not have permission to play games, ie:

In order to play gamename, you need to have a reputation of at least -1 points. Your current reputation stands at points.
I fixed this on my forums by giving unregistered users a default reputation of 0 in the access check:

Approximately line 737 of arcade.php:

Change from:

to:

if ($vbulletin->userinfo['userid']==0)

I am not getting an arcade on the left side in my admin,I am also getting this error when I try to access it -

The arcade uses the time from vbulletin, so if you change it there the arcade will be ok to.

Go to your admin cp --> Vbulletin options --> Date and time options

Peasy!

When I last upgraded 3.60 to 3.6.1 the arcade didn't even need touching.

I think the same was true from 3.5.4 to 3.6.0 from memory.

The only thing would need doing would be if you revert the templates, things like the navbar arcade link and the postbit changes need to be redone. Nothing to it really.

I would be very, very happy if someone knows how to put the awards in memberinfo. I've been searching for a solution for quite some time now, without any luck at all. Hope someone, with skills, reply with some good news...

I'm running 3.5.4 with v3 Arcade 1.0.6, and I've doublechecked all tempcode and checked the option in Arcade setting --> "Enable Arcade Awards" that: If enabled, users will have Arcade awards displayed in their postbits and profiles. It work in the Postbit but not in the Profilepage...

This arcade is fantastic.. You could make it a paid hack if you had the following: Titles = Gamename Only. <-- easily done with a template edit but some users won't know how.

Unique Meta Description on every game, plus the description of the game showing on all game pages <-- easily done, see http://forum.snesclassics.com/arcade/

I've also added a mod-rewrite so it has nice clean urls using vBseo. <- would be nice if this came with one.

And finally probably most important something i cant do on my own, add a browse button for uploading swfs and the images for the games. Now this will help people add games because you won't need FTP access to the server which means mods/admins can help fill the arcade.

I think many people would be willing to pay for a premium version of this hack with the above included. I hope you release it john. :laugh:

Will there be an add on that requires a certain amount of post per day to play in the Arcade? Right now there is only a post per average option.

Hi there ... I would like to remove the ARCADE templates from a set of forums which were transfered to a new server, when transfered it was 3.03 it was then upgraded to 6.02.

Go into your admin cp.

Goto where it says Arcade, should be near the top.

Click Arcade Main settings, find the anouncement text box and write your own text in there.

are you sure you looked at the right place?

admin panel --> Usergroups --> Usergroup Manager --> And then select the user group you want to edit.

I just upgraded to vb 3.6.3. I also upgraded my vbplaza and v3arcade.

However, now the arcade access feature through the vbplaza does not seem to be letting anyone play the arcade.

Any ideas here? It worked fine on vb 3.6.0 .

No, not really, but if you edit the pruduct XML file and search for all occurences of:

<plugin active="1" executionorder="5">

and replace with

<plugin active="1">

It all appears to install and work well. I've done this on my 3.5.4 site and am yet to hear any bad reports or experience issues.

Ok I've got a weird small error on the high scores page.

Error shows this message at the top of the page.

I don't think pluggins should be uploaded to the vb root folder mate. I think you should be putting this into the xml folder. Use your ftp to find the xml folder, and upload it that way, then type the extension into your import product page. Good luck.

I'm new to all of this so please bear with me if I ask some ignorant questions. We are in the process of launching our first forums site and when I installed the v3Arcade product, I didn't get any error messages. I have updated the templates per the instructions and have set user permissions. When I go into the arcade, I can see the game but when I try to launch the games that were included, the game doesn't start, I just get my page template, the game control bar, and nothing else.

Okay, this is really pissing me off. Why is it that 95% of the games I download and add to the arcade don't save high scores? I DL'd the damn games from other vB's (with high scores I might add) yet mine almost always fails to save them. Just to name a few Alien Invasion, Ninja Turtles 2, Simpson's Shooter, Jason's Pong, the original Pong and the list goes on and on. Any idea of what's causing this?

EDIT: Hold up.. Does this have anything to do with having v3 Arcade's license? I just got mine now if that helps.

We just upgraded the board to 3.6.4 this morning and now when you click the back button in the browser while playing a game we get this showing in Internet Explorer

Everything still works just this is getting annoying. Has anyone got any ideas.
We have checked everything we can think of and gone over the installation instructions again and everything seems fine.

It is only happening in IE not happening in Firefox.

Have you followed these steps?
1. Upload all the files from the "files" directory in this zip into your forums directory.
2. Import product-v3arcade.xml as a product. (Via "Plugin System" > "Manage Products" > "Add/Import Product" in your Admin CP.)
3. Edit templates as instructed below.

There are many bugs that will let users cheat and fake their scores. One I know is having two firefox tabs open, each one with a game. If one of the scores is normally around hundreds, and the other is around thousands, you can submit the second score, with both tabs open, and it will submit to the other game. Then you will have all scores like 200, 300, and the highest one in 15000.

If you are using vb 3.5+, use the mass import feature, not the game.php file... assuming that is what you are trying to do.

yea i was being numbskulled.. I went and did arcade/games/nameofgame.php instead of simply... acrade/games

I also noticed that the php file had v3 in the title and went on for hours....
and installed properly!!.. but noticed that the iB php file didnt.. and I did both v3 and iB imports.

So I can only use v3 arcade files it seems.

And I still cant get on your website as I have no email with Webmaster.
And If I make one up.. itll say It sent it.. but I wont recieve nothing (obviously)
I still have yet to find Airfox (v3) version

I am sorry, but I must keep the webmaster@ restriction in place. If you have a domain, you should be able to create one. If not, then I am sorry.
