This is the order of things - how it was, how I did it. These settings below work for me.

I originally had vbookie and vbplaza running on 3.6.5. Then uninstalled vbplaza and the vbplaza add on for vbookie.

Then I installed iCash, and later found the files in post 1343 that Sinisterpain attached. Downloaded them and uploaded overwriting files on the server. Ran the product bookie-hack making sure it was set to overwrite.

This gives you a new iCash setting in the cash/points system setting in the vbookie options. I set it for iCash.

iCash Settings - this worked for me. For points name we use stars as our money
Name of points - Stars
Money Row - Money (left as default)

Then installed iBank.

iBank Settings:
money Row - money

All were working. Then just upgraded from 3.6.5 to the latest 3.6.7. Checked after upgrading and all are still working.

Also checked to see if I still had the Redirect to vbookie.php when posting new Event plugin still there and it is, left it when I removed vbplaza.

If you guys are using Ibank there are further edits that need to be done to show the richest users in vbookie. I did not include the edit because alot of users were not using Ibank and it was creating errors. Right now it will only show total cash based on icash and not include the money in the bank. I will post up the edit later.

Ok for those members using icash and ibank together use this zip file upload to your forum root keep the folder structure. It fixes the total dollars shown for the richest user to include the users banked dollars. If your are only using Icash do not install this as you will recieve an error instead go here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1171631&postcount=1343) for the zip for icash only the money row must be kept at default.

Is there a way that I can adjust the decimal odds? The problem is that they come up automatically but are not correct, for instance, if I have a fractional odd 1/7, the decimal odd comes to 0,14 which is not how it works in the football betting, it should be 0,14 plus 1.

The posting of vbookie events in 3.6 is broken because the hook used has moved.

To fix this problem, the following plugin must be edited ;


vBookie: Redirect to vbookie.php when posting new Event

Replace the plugin code with this ;

Go to your vbadmincp > plugins & products > plugin manager and look for the vbookie section. On mine it was the 6th one down. Look for "Redirect to vbookie.php when posting new Event", click on edit and replace the code there with the new code.

It is 1.14 it just doesn't show it. If you bet and win you get your money back plus your winnings.

Looks like files didn't upload to server correctly. Working now it looks like. When completed I will add myself as another successful instal. I like this concept, great work.

Problems.

Have installed it all as instructed by the readme files.

Also rebuilt my bitfields and changed the plug-in stuff as was instructed for 3.6.x forums.

However, on the nav bar when you try to get into vbookie it comes up as an ERROR and also its not appearing in the "additional options" of posts.

Anyone have anything I could do to make it work?

I installed this on my 3.6.7 PL1 forum and everything seemed fine. However I've had two instances where it seems some of the outcomes in the thread have changed positions. Here are two quotes from my moderators:

(1) There seems to be a problem with the Wimbledon thread. I had made the first three options:

Roger Federer (2/1)
Rafael Nadal (5/1)
Andy Rod++++ (10/1)

However, I've just checked the thread again, and for some strange reason it's now in the order:

Rafael Nadal (5/1)
Andy Rod++++ (10/1)
Roger Federer (2/1)

This seems to have messed up the betting, each player has had different odds at varying times. Which obviously isn't right. And my earlier bet on Federer is now showing up as a bet on Nadal.

(2) Has anyone else had any problems with the bet you placed changing? I know for sure I put my money on Silva instead of Marquardt, but now it obviously says otherwise. I looked what other people were betting on several times, and from that, it seemed to change by itself sometime last night.I found the following from way back in the thread:

Something is wrong with this. The odds are very screwed up. I set up an event with 19 outcomes. I had to edit the event a couple of times... Never changing the outcomes or the odds, but the system has re orddered the outcomes, and when looking at the bets placed, some people have different odds for the same outcome, but I never changed the odds...

Did you rebuild your bits fields? The permissions might not set correctly until you do so.

For people wondering how to reset all user's vCash to 500, you need to execute this SQL query:

UPDATE user SET vbookie_cash=500;

If you totally want to clear all past events as well, execute these SQL queries:

DELETE FROM vbookie_news;
DELETE FROM vbookie_bets_placed;
DELETE FROM vbookie_item_options;
DELETE FROM vbookie_items;
DELETE FROM vbookie_groups;

Run these at your own risk...you may want to backup your DB first before running them. I run these once each year and have not had any problems with them.

I've got a very strange problem.. Without me chaning anything, suddenly all usergroups don't have bookie permissions anymore.
When I reassign the rights to the usergroup, the settings aren't saved. It says it does, but the next time I check, it's set to "no" again.

Got a problem similar to many in this thread, but the fix doesn't appear to work.

The usual delete a thread while the event is still open issue, in that now the vbookie event is undeletable. I tried running the query "DELETE FROM vbookie_items WHERE item_id = '156'" (156 is the event no.).

However, I got this reply "An error occurred while attempting to execute your query. The following information was returned.
error number: 1146
error desc: Table 'xxxxx_xxxxx.vbookie_items' doesn't exist

I'm on 3.6.8. Any help appreciated.

Yes, I am having this same issue... the vbookie area only shows page 1. Although there are more events, if you select the next page, it is empty. I told me users to watch the forum threads of the events because of this error. I hope there is a fix cause it is very annoying.

I am having problems with the "settled". I had a regular member settle a football game last night and selected the wrong team to win.... I see absolutely no way for an admin to correct this (how embarrassing). I checked the usergroup settings and I see no setting about "settle". Where is it? That is the function that gives the amount 25 if a user has less than 25 in the bank.

I have since resolved the problem. It was caused by a legacy plugin associated with vbPlaza. The automatic uninstall of vbBux/vbPlaza leaves behind 5 enabled plugins, they are:

vBookie With vbPlaza - Do Charity
vBookie With vbPlaza - Get Richest Users
vBookie With vbPlaza - Get User Cash
vBookie With vbPlaza - Give User Cash
vBookie With vbPlaza - Take User Cash

It was the Do Charity plugin causing the error.

Disabling these plugins resolved the issue.

Those who previously had vbPlaza installed and now wish to use vbCredits (or any other custom points system) will likely need to do the same.

In vbookie.php, find the line that says the following, in my copy it was line 361.

Your looking for:

$pagenav = construct_page_nav($pagenumber, $perpage, $n_page_items, 'vbookie.php?' . $vbulletin->session->vars['sessionurl'] . "do=main&type=type");

and change it to:

$pagenav = construct_page_nav($pagenumber, $perpage, $n_page_items, 'vbookie.php?' . $vbulletin->session->vars['sessionurl'] . "do=main&type=" . $type);

A very tiny change. You're changing the end of the line so that it doesn't read

&type=type");

and so that it does read

&type=" . $type);

Hi, I don't think that you can have made the change properly.
Can you check?

Notice how in the one you posted it has &type=type, but the one I just posted has &type=OPEN, (OPEN would normally change depending on what type of bet you are viewing (closed, open, abandoned, etc). I can't see how you would still be having this problem if the patch wasnt applied as &type=type only has one occourence in that file and it should have been removed if you did the fix I suggested.

Also, if you keep using the link that you posted it will always be an empty page. The link its self is broken because it has the type=type problem, go to your page one and click the link to the next page each time, dont bookmark until its fixed

Here's some good instructions....I found this posted somewhere a while ago and posted it in my site for my bookies:

Introduction

vBookie is a 'bookmakers' or betting extension to vBulletin. It enables authorised members to post Events and Outcomes that forum members can bet on. Each Outcome has its own set of odds, and odds can be modified through the life of an Event (bets that are placed are stored with the prevailing odds, so even if the odds change, your users are paid at the correct rate).

Adding a new vBookie Event

vBookie Events are tied to threads in your forums. This makes it convenient for members to discuss the Event and their bets, in the same manner as a poll.


To create a new vBookie Event, simply add a new thread as normal, and select the 'Post a vBookie Event' checkbox on the Post New Thread page. You can add some detailed explanations of the event you're offering and the various outcomes in the thread Message, then press Submit New Thread. This will post the thread and then take you to the vBookie New Event page.


Note that you cannot post a vBookie Event and a Poll on the same thread at the time, but you may later add a poll to an existing vBookie Event thread.


The 'Post a vBookie Event' Form

The 'Post a vBookie Event' form has various items that you must complete. These are:

Event Group
Use this field to specify in general terms what area the Event falls in to. You may be as vague about this or as specific as you wish. It's just additional information that can help your forum members understand what they are betting on. For example, if your Event Title is 'World Cup', then the Event Group might be 'Cricket', 'Football', 'Karate' etc. Other examples of more specific groups are 'Football World Cup 2006', '2005 Oscars' etc.


Event Title
This is the actual thing that people will bet on. It might be something that covers a set of other events (e.g. '04/05 English Premiership Winners', 'Most Gold Medals at Athens Olympics') or something very specific (e.g. 'Liverpool vs. Manchester United', 'British Grand Prix').

Number of Outcomes & Event Outcomes
This is the number of potential outcomes that you are going to offer for people to bet on. You must provide at least 2 outcomes (on the logic that a single outcome means a certainty, therefore not something that one can bet on). There is no built in limit to the number of outcomes that may be offered. Bear in mind that more than one outcome is allowed to win. While this may seem odd at first glance, it makes sense because it allows you to specify a set of possible outcomes as follows. Imagine you are setting up a football match.
You might offer the following outcomes:
Manchester United to win
Liverpool to win
Drawn match
Manchester United to win 3-1
Michael Owen to score first

As you can see, there are some general outcomes, and some more specific ones. If the match ends 0-0, then only 'Drawn match' would be a winning bet. However, if the match ends 3-1 to Manchester, with Liverpool taking an early lead due to an Owen goal in the 6th minute, then three outcomes would pay out as winning bets; the general 'Manchester United to win', the more specific 'win 3-1', and also the bet on 'Owen to score first'. Forum members who have bet on any of those three items would collect winnings.

You must also specify the Odds for each outcome. Odds are a measure of how much someone will win if they bet on that outcome. Odds of '10 to 1' mean that there's a one in 10 chance that it will be the winning outcome, and for every 1 that someone bets, they will be given 10 back in winnings. Odds of '2 to 5' mean that for every 5 bet, a person will win 2. So if he bets 100 at odds of 2/5, and wins, he will get 140 back (his 100 stake, plus 40 in winnings). If a bet wins, the stake is also returned. If a bet loses, the stake is lost.

Ideally, you should specify realistic odds. You can get an idea of the odds for various events be checking up with online bookmakers such as Ladbrokes.

Accept Bets Until
This is the date and time up until which bets on this Event will be accepted. You will normally set this to a time before the Event actually starts, but for longer running Events it could be a time part-way through the Event. For example, for a single football match you might accept bets up until its 3pm kick-off, but for the Football World Cup you might accept bets up until the start of the knockout phase.

Bets Paid After
This is the date after which bets should be settled. This will be a time after which the outcome(s) will be known, so the bet administrator can determine which outcomes are winning outcomes. This might be as short as 2 hours after the Accept Bets Until time in the case of a football match, or could be weeks after the Accept Bets Until time in the case of the Football World Cup. This date should be specified so that a bet that hasn't been settled can be flagged up and either settled or abandoned.

Time Zone
Bets are placed into the database in GMT/UTC form. You should make sure that you specify the correct time zone for where you live when you are setting up a new Event. The Time Zone list should default to the timezone you have specified in your forum settings, and it will take into account any daylight savings time that may be in effect.

Allow multiple bets on this Event
By default people can bet on an Event more than once. They could bet on every Outcome if they like. By clearing this box, users can only bet once.

Now...
When you have specified all the information above, you can either Submit the event or Preview it. Previewing gives you a chance to doulbe check that everything looks correct before you submit the event. Once you are happy, Submit the event and you will be taken back to the Event's home thread.

Placing a Bet & Controlling an Event

To place a bet on a vBookie Event, you first view the event's thread. You can determine which are betting threads either by the thread icon, or the text 'vBookie:' in front of the thread title in the thread list:

Upon viewing a thread with a vBookie Event attached, you will see the Event panel at the top of the thread. The event panel will look something like this:

The numbers relate to the following items:
1. This tells you the last time that the Event will accept new bets, and the time after which you should expect the Event to pay out.

2. This line tells you some information about the status of the Event, and whether you may bet on it.

3. The Outcomes panel shows all the options you can bet on, and what each of their odds are. It also shows the total number of bets placed so far.

4. If you want to bet on a specific outcome, just type the amount you want to bet into the correct box.

5. If you don't want other people to be able to see what you have bet on, select this checkbox.

6. When you are ready to place a bet, click the Bet Now! button.

When a bet has passed the time that it will accept bets, you will no longer be able to bet, and the display will look more like this:

If the Event's payout time has been reached there will also be a reminder that the bets should be settled, and there will be checkboxes beside each potentially winning Outcome. This is only shown to the Event's owner or members with permission to edit other persons' Events.


To Settle bets, you simply tick one or more winning options, and then click the Settle Bets! button. If there are no winning outcomes, you should still settle the bets, but must also tick the box to say that you really meant to settle the Event with no winners.

Once settled, an Event will display the 'Event Over' panel'

Abandoning a vBookie Event
Sometimes it may be necessary to Abandon an Event. This might be because the Event never took place, or something disrupted it, or because there were errors in the set-up of the bet and people have already bet on it. When an Event is abandoned, all stakes are returned to the people that placed the bets.

To abandon an event, click the Abandon vBookie Event link. You will be asked to confirm that you really want to abandon the Event. Click Yes to abandon it, or the Back button of your browser to return to the Event's thread.

The vBookie Main Page

As well as the thread display, vBookie provides a separate page called 'vbookie.php'. If your forum has installed vBookie with its default settings, you can access this by clicking the vBookie link in the forum navigation bar. This acts as an easy way to see any events that are open and available to be on, and also enables users to check the status of their own bets. There is also a page of statistics information for the whole bookmakers system.

I got vbookie running just fine on vb 3.6.7 PL1 - I uninstalled, and reinstalled, and the things that WERE supposed to be there WERE THERE, they were not before.

Now I have two questions:

Hi. Thanks for this info. It was enough for me to write a product that does this task. You still need to make the two template changes that you mentioned but there is no need to edit the hard code. Attached is the product that you need to import.

Don't forget, you still need to edit the templates as you detailed above. This product just replaces having to edit the hard code.

When you create a new thread, the option for making the thread a vbookie thread is at the bottom with the other thread options.. you click the button (just like you do when you create a poll).. it will then take you to the vBookie options for that thread..

Yes it works fine, all you have to do is change the cash points settings drop down so that it shows blank instead of vcash, ucash,ebux in the vbookie admincp settings.

One question i have though, is there a way to view all bets on one page without having to go to each post and looking? I wasn't sure if i was missing this feature or if there is another hack that is available to load in to do this..

Scroll down the left hand nav menu until you get to the Plugins & Products Area.... expand it.. click on Plugin Manager.

This will then bring up all the plugins that you have installed within vbulletin...

Scroll down the list and Look for the Product : vBookie area... this area will contain all the plugins associated with vbookie....

Find the specific plugin that needs to be modified (vBookie: Redirect to vbookie.php when posting new Event) and then click on [edit]

This will open the plugin so that you can replace the block of code with the block that Paul had in his post...

Hit save and you are good to go :cool:

To link to the vbookie.php page... you need to edit your NAVBAR template and add the code like the install file suggests...

You need to edit each usergroup and set vbookie permissions for each group. There are 3 permission settings for vBookie.

adding an event is similar to adding a poll. You first need to start a new thread in the forum that you want the event to show up in.. give the thread a title (just like you do a poll) and then down at the bottom is a check box thats you check to make the thread a vBookie event... hit submit and it will then take you to the vbookie event screen to fill out the particulars for the event... fill it out and hit submit. You will then have a thread with a vbookie event :cool:

Is there a way a PM can be sent to a user when they have won a bet and tell them the amount they have won?

Members are unsure if they are in fact getting paid and there is no way for me to check to see.
It tells them when the bet is settled what they won, but no way of knowing if it really deposits the money in there acct.

I'm sure that an addon like that could be fairly easily accomplished. Im not sure it would help, cause it still won't prove anything. A better stats module would certainly be nice to show the what the members amount was prior to the deposit and the actual balance (similar to a bank account transaction sheet)..

As you probably already know... each Member has their own individual page that contains all bets that they wagered on. It has the Status (Open, Closed, Settled etc), the stakes/Odds and the amount won (paid). This is the best way to check things out.

Odd error.

IS there a reason in particular that the vBookie permisions in the usergroups, do not seem to matter? We have regular members posting events and resolving them in cases where they really shouldn't be. We've made it so they can not create new ones or edit others, but for wahtever reason those premissions are bypassed and anybody even a brand new user can create a new vBookie.

Any idea? Version of vBookie is 1.0.7. vB being 3.6.8

So now I am stuck with allowing this bet to continue, or close it down and I don't want to do that... there are too many other members with proper bets and odds... Any help?

Actually, there is too a way to set a cap limit on bets and it was explained within this thread.

Here is how you do it, simply add a conditional within the conditional to test the value of each bet (eval each $stake variable with the loop).. this simple if statement will work fine and do the trick..

I removed the complete link... but I imagine it is erroring on the text I replaced. I believe that would be line 968. Can someone help with the proper text replacement... or help please...

Well, that is weird... and I didn't change it, it was set at 1000, not 100. The only other change that I done was the Create the Phrase, as you instructed.

Remember, I am using vbcredits... are you using that on your site? After I uploaded the file, I attempted to edit a past created football bet I set up weekes ago... and I got that same error. So I replaced that vbookie.php with the original and it allowed me to edit that bet. So it is something about that line and that file... and those settings with my site.

Incidently, I am not sure why but I have a few other issues with vbookie, but I can live with them... One of them is... I have to edit any bets that I setup in the past and check their settings. Something is changing the time and date of the settings... so I have to check it either the day before or right before the game. It happens sporadically, but more times than not. Also, if I set the bet to close at 1pm on a certain day, my program closes that whole morning... I just tell me members to enter your bets at least the day before, otherwise it is closed. It is like it doesn't care what the time is... just the day.

Again, I can live with those issues... I really need this bet limit corrected. Is there anything else you can help with this... I am using vb 3.6.8 and vbcredits 1.4RC1...

Man, have you even looked at the usergroups settings before posting? It is clearly stated in the each usergroup. Pull up the usergroup you want to allow and scroll down to the "vbookie event permissions". Under that... "Can post vbookie events". Set that to yes.

I'd be willing to help you install it (I see you are using vb 3.6.8), but wouldn't support it after that. I think if you are having issues installing it, you will have issues setting bets up and control them. I don't have time for that... maybe someone else has that time.

May I suggest to follow the instructions for installation... make the proper edits for vb.3.6.8. and create a forum that only the admin can access for your bets. Then setup an event by posting in that forum, select vbookie in the bottom menu.. and presto! I added an item in the navbar for everyone to access... so they can see bet results and stats...

Odd error.

IS there a reason in particular that the vBookie permisions in the usergroups, do not seem to matter? We have regular members posting events and resolving them in cases where they really shouldn't be. We've made it so they can not create new ones or edit others, but for wahtever reason those premissions are bypassed and anybody even a brand new user can create a new vBookie.

Any idea? Version of vBookie is 1.0.7. vB being 3.6.8

Any help with this? Much apperchiated.

This is one of my favorite hacks and I WISH the author would either release the code to let other developers take over and expand it/re-write it or start getting involved in it again and expand on it himself.... I don't see either happening however.

Fill in the blanks with table prefix, amount and primary usergroup.

All you needed to do was read back 3 pages.. I answered this twice just a few posts back... here it is again.

For Pauls Part.....

Log into your Admin Control Panel.

Scroll down the left hand nav menu until you get to the Plugins & Products Area.... expand it.. click on Plugin Manager.

This will then bring up all the plugins that you have installed within vbulletin...

Scroll down the list and Look for the Product : vBookie area... this area will contain all the plugins associated with vbookie....

Find the specific plugin that needs to be modified (vBookie: Redirect to vbookie.php when posting new Event) and then click on [edit]

This will open the plugin so that you can replace the block of code with the block that Paul had in his post...

Hit save and you are good to go :cool:

Its probably a PHRASE... check the phrases and see if you can find it in there.

Thats because you didn't rebuild your bit fields, so its not saving the settings.

Ok - installed on 3.6.4.

Everything works great, got everything worked out - except I can't get my users vCash to display in their postbit legacy.

I read to page 74 and gave up :)

Other than that - everything is butter. Great mod.

EDIT: Is there anyway for me to void a bet if there's a stupid user who clicks the wrong box to settle a bet?

My suggestion? Use another cash system like iCash. Then use that to display in their postbits and for vBulletin to use. I am on 3.6.8 and it's working just fine for me.

EDIT: Nevermind - solved my own problem. I didn't see that I had to edit the Postbit and the postbit_legacy templates, just thought I had to edit the latter.

Great hack and thank you. But when i click the check box for Yes! Create a vBookie event. And I click submit new thread. It just posts the thread and I dont get any option to create the vBookie event. Is there anything I should do to try and fix it? Or how would I fix it?

Hey Bud...

Well, I did a fresh install of beta3 3.7 and added vbookie w/ Pauls 1 change and it worked just fine. I was able to add multiple events, edit them, bet on them (with the default vbookie vcash system).... make private bets, settle events and payouts all worked just fine.

Seems to me like it works just fine, but who knows, it may conflict with other hacks. All I know is that it works fine by itself on a fresh install.

I know it can be made to work, and I am using it now and have been for a long time, but still has a few flaws that will never be addressed and more will appear in the future as it gets older and vBulletin grows.

Although some folks will say yes... I will warn you!!! This MOD has a few issues that just plain do not work correctly... and there are things that are deeply needed, but there is no one to update it...

So, be warned. I had this installed on my 3.6.8 PLII and running it for a few months... I recently had a problem with my forum and had to do a clean install. I am now using the simple sports betting in the Casino MOD for 3.6.x. Here are some things that I noticed that turn me away from this MOD:

* When you setup massive games to bet on, be prepared to CONSTANTLY edit them, up to the day of the game... something is constantly changing the settings (usually the time, date and timezone)... which is really annoying, but important.

* There is ZERO capability to edit past settings or current bets. Meaning the admin is very limited. If someone accidently bet on the wrong selection.. too bad. There is no way to edit that.

* Listing current and past bets (active, settled, closed) is very hard to navigate... and for members that are new... it is annoying trying to explain it. This portion needs serious re-work IMO...

There are alot of things that could be updated or changed... but there is no one to help because....

You might want to consider the Casino Sports Bet program on the 3.6.x MODs... it isn't as elaborate as vbookie... but it is in its beginning stages. Hopefully lots of updates to the next version.

yes, vbookie.php goes into the forums root .. the content inside the includes folder, goes into the vbulletin includes folder... same with the images folder, all the contents go into the vbulletin images folder.. hope that makes sense..
