vBookie for vBulletin 3.5

Maybe somebody can help me.

vBookie has suddenly started running very slow for me. Once the information or a bet is entered and you submit it, it is taking a full minute, sometimes up to 90 seconds to process.

I am running vBulletin version 3.6.4.

I can't remember if this started immediately after upgrading to 3.6.4, but I know it worked fine with 3.6.3

I am also using vbux/vbplaza for the cash system.

I have 3 people on my forum who setup the vBookie bets and this is happening to all of them.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You can Download and onli you have to do is Import on Admin CP - Plugins & Products - Manage Products and Import. That all.;)

and now, when i choose "Yes, post a vBookie Event with this thread" and click button thread was posting without VBookie event.

For those that have the "page 2" issue, I have found a way to at least show all the open bets past page 1.

Open vbookie.php we find this:

$pagenav = construct_page_nav($pagenumber, $perpage, $n_page_items, 'vbookie.php?' . $vbulletin->session->vars['sessionurl'] . "do=main&type=type");

Changing this to:

$pagenav = construct_page_nav($pagenumber, $perpage, $n_page_items, 'vbookie.php?' . $vbulletin->session->vars['sessionurl'] . "do=main");

Those that need to see page 2 or more of the SETTLED, CLOSED, or ABANDONED events, you still can, but only if you type it manually in the url. Just change the end to:

vbookie.php?do=main&type=SETTLED&page=2
vbookie.php?do=main&type=CLOSED&page=2
vbookie.php?do=main&type=ABANDONED&page=2

Obviously you change the 2 to whatever page number you wish to see.

Another quick fix is to change the amount of events on each page, so that there is less pages to view.

in vBookie.php find:

$perpage = 20;

Change the number to whatever you want it to be per page (I have it at 100). Note you need to change this in two areas in vbookie.php

in regards to doing a proper fix for this issue, I have started a request in the unpaid section for maybe someone smarter then me to try and solve it so that the type= changes to what it is supposed to.

Can someone tell me how to set the max bid? I've tried the fix earlier in this thread, but the vbookie.php does not contain the code that is listed as the 'find' portion of the fix. I'm using the newest version of vbulletin and the fix was posted a few months ago, so I'm think the vbookie.php file might have changed since then.

Hi Mate I need the answer too, but at the moment what i have to do is switch vbookie off then go to AdminCP and reset eash individual user myself Back to ?500.
Its a pain if you have a lot of users but i cant see no other way at the moment.

So I upload the files, install under "Manage Products", make the template changes as well as the plugin change Paul suggested.

Now it is in the navbar appears to be fine, no errors. However when I create a new thread the option to make it a vbookie event simply isnt there. (yes i made the template changes).

I am running 3.6.4 anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?

When you post a vbookie event, the thread automatically shows "Vbookie:" in front of the event. Kind of like when you make a sticky it says "Sticky:"

How do you remove this? I went into phrases Manager and tried changing the $vbphrase['vbookie_vbookie'] phrase but that didnt work. Did anyone else remove it?

to the right is a edit button...click it

in the middle of the edit page you will see: "Plugin PHP Code Use this field to enter the PHP code that you would like to be run."

replace what is in there with the following:

Look in vbookie.php, around line number 1360 for this code:

if ($vbulletin->GPC['vbookieeventoptions'] < 2)
{
$vbulletin->GPC['vbookieeventoptions'] = 2;
}


Change the 2 to 3 in both lines and you'll have it default to 3 outcomes instead of two.

Hi there I installed vbookie a week or so ago and everything was running smooth after I added the vb 3.6 patch. I'm currently using vb 3.6.4.

After a few days when anyone went to click the vbookie link it came up with a databse error. I wasn't sure if rebuilding the bit fields again wud work but I tried that too but that didnt help. Here's the error message:

To save people some time finding out how to make it work on 3.6 with vbbux (like me :)), I attached a zip with the edits made in the functions and xml files. Just read the readme.txt, follow the instructions and your good to go.


tested on multiple 3.6.4 boards. everything works perfectly.

I'm kind of confused with this vBookie system...

According to what I read, you should be able to post a thread and then add a new event afterwards. I'm an Administrator on my board, have vbookie turned on and updated all settings correctly to the usergroups. Yet there is no option to add it. Other admins and smods who are familiar with this system more then I can't find the actual page to create a new event either. What should be done?

are you sure you rebuilded the bitfields? otherwise the settings wont save. If you did that then make sure the usergroup has permissions to make a bookie event.
then go to the ACP -> Forums & Moderators -> Forum Permissions -> scroll to the section/forum where you want to post the events -> click 'edit' on the usergroup you want to assign to make bookie events and set the 3 vbookie permissions to yes. if you still dont see a bookie checkbox when making a new topic in that section after you did this, then im sure you forgot the style edits.

I can still bet and so can everyone else and the bets when sorted also pay out. I even replaced the vbookie.php to see if it would help and it wouldn't. It's a massive shame as I need that to work so I can see whos top of the betting leaderboard etc... :(

Is there any way of rebuilding the whole database without losing any information as ive got over 400 members and 100,000 posts. There are errors when i try to check ips etc with the database.

I posted a mod somewhere in this thread to make money placed on bets go to the bookie, and have winnings paid out of the bookie's money. Searching for posts by my username in this thread should turn it up.

Usual warnings... back up your files and database before modifying them, etc etc. Also, I use vbbux on my site, so if you're not using vbbux you might need to tweak the hack to suit your system.

Here are my files for vbookie using Icash. I have added a field in admin cp for Icash.
Edit: fixed a problem where recieved an error for bankmoney.
SELECT username, bankmoney+money AS cash FROM user ORDER BY cash DESC LIMIT 5;

MySQL Error : Unknown column 'bankmoney' in 'field list'

I added a field for updating the richest user if you were using Ibank sorry uploaded file to correct this.
If you encountered trying to donate money and got and error this is now fixed for icash

It doesn't disable it, but the option is no longer there to use. :)


One of the major problems I have is with events being settled wrong. I haven't been able to come up with a way to reverse it. The best I've been able to come up with is this procedure to return the original stakes. If anyone has a better way, I'd love to know!

This will change it from Settled to Open. Then click the Abandon Event link in the thread. This only returns the original stakes. vCash won as a result of the incorrect settlement is not taken away and changing the winner in the thread has no effect.

It would be really handy if the main vbookie display showed times as well as dates under the Added, Open Until and Payouts After.

Actually, even better, if it's today's date, it should only show the time, otherwise it should show the date.

Anybody know which template I'd need to play with to get this done? I'd be willing to give it a try myself and post my findings here.


UPDATE: Ok, I'm 99% sure I'd need to edit the vbookie.php file to accomplish this and this is where I believe it needs to be done:

2ND Update: Ok, I was on a mission. This is what I came up with. I really was only interested in showing the Open Until time on open items.

It may not be elegant, but I replaced line 356 which was this:

with this:

Well, it does the job that I wanted, but it kinda messes up the spacing a bit, which I can live with. Also, it doesn't bother to show the time unless the item is still open.

I hope someone else can find this to be a useful modification. Any and all suggestions are more than welcome.

Haven't tested it so make a backup of your DB first.

I used the file you posted a couple of pages back. The one with iCash automaticly build in. Got iCash installed and put the settings on use iCash.

The rest also works. I can bet on matches, it takes away the points from the user and when I win I get the points so vbookie recognizes the points system.

I just fixed the problem you are having with my files. Please download my zip again, the only file you need to upload to your webserver is the includes->functions_vbookie.php file.
I had changed the functions file to include Ibank money table to show the richest user in vbookie. Let me know if this resolves the issue.

When the event was over and I cashed out the winner, the first item stayed there. When I click on Thread or Info it says "No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator". Is there any way of removing this item (probably in mysql table??)? My knowledge about this all isn't so big so if anyone could help me out (with details), I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks in advance.

While in the thread you can moderate it and delete it, also have you tryed 3.0 or 1.0 instead of 3 or 1.

1) Go into CP;

2) Plugins & Products->Plugin Manager

3) Edit: vBookie: Redirect to vbookie.php when posting new Event

4) Now, copy that code into the Plugin PHP Code text box. Save.

Assuming you followed the instrucitons in readme.txt; have set your permissions in the User Group Manager and Forum Manager and rebuilt your bitfields, you should be able to post a new event to vBookie from a forum thread.

So you want to bet 10 and only win 5?

All you have to do is make your odds 1 to 2 then. It's just simple math. On gambling you're always going to get your money back.

When setting an event vBookie does not recognize Daylight Savings time, even though the rest of my functions do.

I am having to repeatedly tell users to set the time an hour earlier than the correct time in order for it to use the correct time and display it. It is causing a lot of upset users.

Any chance of a fix for daylight savings?

If you are using Icash you have to disable the "give to the poor" feature in vbookie. Go to the vbookie options and set Give to the Poor to 0. Then this error will go away. (This is true even when using the updated Icash vbookie files)

Try this it should go into your navbar edit as per the readme

If it does not work with vbadvanced you will need to add vbookie.php to your vBa CMPS->Default Settings->Navbar Replacements.

When setting an event vBookie does not recognize Daylight Savings time, even though the rest of my functions do.

I am having to repeatedly tell users to set the time an hour earlier than the correct time in order for it to use the correct time and display it. It is causing a lot of upset users.

Any chance of a fix for daylight savings?

3) Edit: vBookie: Redirect to vbookie.php when posting new Event

4) Now, copy that code into the Plugin PHP Code text box. Save.

Assuming you followed the instrucitons in readme.txt; have set your permissions in the User Group Manager and Forum Manager and rebuilt your bitfields, you should be able to post a new event to vBookie from a forum thread.

Having a problem that when installing the mod, it installs 3 hooks!

It was taking points 3 times over before, so I removed two of the hooks which stopped it taking the points 3 over, but now I can't make new events until I re-install the hack - and when I did, it installed the 3 hooks again.

Could I of made a mistake by installing the hack's code 3 times over by mistake when I had trouble before? Would that cause the multi installation of hooks?

or could it be something else?

I have done this long before I read this fix and it worked great on MY forum. When I installed it on a forum I work for I rebuilt the bitfields and was able to save permissions for all user groups changing the "can bet" option to yes. Now all user groups can bet on events EXCEPT registered users even though there permissions are saved to yes.

The really weird thing is I logged into my registered user test account. And I was able to bet as a regular member but no one else can.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi there, I have recently reinstalled this on my forum again and I am using the nexia cash with it, I was wondering if there was anyway that money that members put on an option on the bookie event can be paid back?

The reason I am asking is because we are doing a bookie event for the grand national this saturday (horse race) and horses usually are withdrawn prior to the race for obvious reasons i.e health, injury etc, what I was wondering is if a member bets on a horse that gets withdrawn before the race on Saturday is there anyway I could cancel their bet and give them their stake back to bet on another option?

Open AdminCP:

"Plugins & Products" -> "Plugin Manager"

Click on "vBookie: Redirect to vbookie.php when posting new Event"

Replace the whole text with the fix.

Create a new forum specifically for vbookie topics and as long as you've made all the template edits, you should then see the option to add a vbookie event below the poll option.

I have it in my Admin control pannel (Under vBulletin options, and under the plugins manager area) but it's not anywhere on the permissions, or on the actual forums itself. :(

To fix this problem, the following plugin must be edited ;

I just love vBookie. Installed it a while ago but only made it public for the visitors and members 3 days ago. Everyone is loving it and it's extremely active. I was just wondering why Andreas isn't updating this one or that someone else might take this project over. There are so many things that could be added to make this one of the best hacks for vBulletin. There are also some things that could be perfectionized. But I could think of a lot of extra features and it's a shame that no one continues to work and expand this hack. Why is that?

Introduction

vBookie is a 'bookmakers' or betting extension to vBulletin. It enables authorised members to post Events and Outcomes that forum members can bet on. Each Outcome has its own set of odds, and odds can be modified through the life of an Event (bets that are placed are stored with the prevailing odds, so even if the odds change, your users are paid at the correct rate).

Adding a new vBookie Event

vBookie Events are tied to threads in your forums. This makes it convenient for members to discuss the Event and their bets, in the same manner as a poll.


To create a new vBookie Event, simply add a new thread as normal, and select the 'Post a vBookie Event' checkbox on the Post New Thread page. You can add some detailed explanations of the event you're offering and the various outcomes in the thread Message, then press Submit New Thread. This will post the thread and then take you to the vBookie New Event page.


Note that you cannot post a vBookie Event and a Poll on the same thread at the time, but you may later add a poll to an existing vBookie Event thread.


The 'Post a vBookie Event' Form

The 'Post a vBookie Event' form has various items that you must complete. These are:

Event Group
Use this field to specify in general terms what area the Event falls in to. You may be as vague about this or as specific as you wish. It's just additional information that can help your forum members understand what they are betting on. For example, if your Event Title is 'World Cup', then the Event Group might be 'Cricket', 'Football', 'Karate' etc. Other examples of more specific groups are 'Football World Cup 2006', '2005 Oscars' etc.


Event Title
This is the actual thing that people will bet on. It might be something that covers a set of other events (e.g. '04/05 English Premiership Winners', 'Most Gold Medals at Athens Olympics') or something very specific (e.g. 'Liverpool vs. Manchester United', 'British Grand Prix').

Number of Outcomes & Event Outcomes
This is the number of potential outcomes that you are going to offer for people to bet on. You must provide at least 2 outcomes (on the logic that a single outcome means a certainty, therefore not something that one can bet on). There is no built in limit to the number of outcomes that may be offered. Bear in mind that more than one outcome is allowed to win. While this may seem odd at first glance, it makes sense because it allows you to specify a set of possible outcomes as follows. Imagine you are setting up a football match.
You might offer the following outcomes:
Manchester United to win
Liverpool to win
Drawn match
Manchester United to win 3-1
Michael Owen to score first

As you can see, there are some general outcomes, and some more specific ones. If the match ends 0-0, then only 'Drawn match' would be a winning bet. However, if the match ends 3-1 to Manchester, with Liverpool taking an early lead due to an Owen goal in the 6th minute, then three outcomes would pay out as winning bets; the general 'Manchester United to win', the more specific 'win 3-1', and also the bet on 'Owen to score first'. Forum members who have bet on any of those three items would collect winnings.

You must also specify the Odds for each outcome. Odds are a measure of how much someone will win if they bet on that outcome. Odds of '10 to 1' mean that there's a one in 10 chance that it will be the winning outcome, and for every 1 that someone bets, they will be given 10 back in winnings. Odds of '2 to 5' mean that for every 5 bet, a person will win 2. So if he bets 100 at odds of 2/5, and wins, he will get 140 back (his 100 stake, plus 40 in winnings). If a bet wins, the stake is also returned. If a bet loses, the stake is lost.

Ideally, you should specify realistic odds. You can get an idea of the odds for various events be checking up with online bookmakers such as Ladbrokes.

Accept Bets Until
This is the date and time up until which bets on this Event will be accepted. You will normally set this to a time before the Event actually starts, but for longer running Events it could be a time part-way through the Event. For example, for a single football match you might accept bets up until its 3pm kick-off, but for the Football World Cup you might accept bets up until the start of the knockout phase.

Bets Paid After
This is the date after which bets should be settled. This will be a time after which the outcome(s) will be known, so the bet administrator can determine which outcomes are winning outcomes. This might be as short as 2 hours after the Accept Bets Until time in the case of a football match, or could be weeks after the Accept Bets Until time in the case of the Football World Cup. This date should be specified so that a bet that hasn't been settled can be flagged up and either settled or abandoned.

Time Zone
Bets are placed into the database in GMT/UTC form. You should make sure that you specify the correct time zone for where you live when you are setting up a new Event. The Time Zone list should default to the timezone you have specified in your forum settings, and it will take into account any daylight savings time that may be in effect.

Allow multiple bets on this Event
By default people can bet on an Event more than once. They could bet on every Outcome if they like. By clearing this box, users can only bet once.

Now...
When you have specified all the information above, you can either Submit the event or Preview it. Previewing gives you a chance to doulbe check that everything looks correct before you submit the event. Once you are happy, Submit the event and you will be taken back to the Event's home thread.

Placing a Bet & Controlling an Event

To place a bet on a vBookie Event, you first view the event's thread. You can determine which are betting threads either by the thread icon, or the text 'vBookie:' in front of the thread title in the thread list:

Upon viewing a thread with a vBookie Event attached, you will see the Event panel at the top of the thread. The event panel will look something like this:

The numbers relate to the following items:
1. This tells you the last time that the Event will accept new bets, and the time after which you should expect the Event to pay out.

2. This line tells you some information about the status of the Event, and whether you may bet on it.

3. The Outcomes panel shows all the options you can bet on, and what each of their odds are. It also shows the total number of bets placed so far.

4. If you want to bet on a specific outcome, just type the amount you want to bet into the correct box.

5. If you don't want other people to be able to see what you have bet on, select this checkbox.

6. When you are ready to place a bet, click the Bet Now! button.

When a bet has passed the time that it will accept bets, you will no longer be able to bet, and the display will look more like this:

If the Event's payout time has been reached there will also be a reminder that the bets should be settled, and there will be checkboxes beside each potentially winning Outcome. This is only shown to the Event's owner or members with permission to edit other persons' Events.


To Settle bets, you simply tick one or more winning options, and then click the Settle Bets! button. If there are no winning outcomes, you should still settle the bets, but must also tick the box to say that you really meant to settle the Event with no winners.

Once settled, an Event will display the 'Event Over' panel'

Abandoning a vBookie Event
Sometimes it may be necessary to Abandon an Event. This might be because the Event never took place, or something disrupted it, or because there were errors in the set-up of the bet and people have already bet on it. When an Event is abandoned, all stakes are returned to the people that placed the bets.

To abandon an event, click the Abandon vBookie Event link. You will be asked to confirm that you really want to abandon the Event. Click Yes to abandon it, or the Back button of your browser to return to the Event's thread.

The vBookie Main Page

As well as the thread display, vBookie provides a separate page called 'vbookie.php'. If your forum has installed vBookie with its default settings, you can access this by clicking the vBookie link in the forum navigation bar. This acts as an easy way to see any events that are open and available to be on, and also enables users to check the status of their own bets. There is also a page of statistics information for the whole bookmakers system.

I'm trying to figure out how to post a Moneyline in vBookie? Is there a way to do it?

For instance, the odds for the big De La Hoya vs. Mayweather fight is:

Mayweather -200
De La Hoya +160

I assume there's a way to translate that into odds for use in vBookie but I'm not quite sure.

I know that translates into having to bet:
$200 to win $100 for Mayweather
or
betting $100 to win $160 for De La Hoya

When i press continue it says that it's saved, but it's not...as i can see there's no changes when i go into the edit screen again...

Due to the exploits of vbplaza/vbux I want to switch to the ICash system and have it work with vbookie.

In post 1343 there are new files to download for using ICash, and here is the question.

Do we just download them and overwrite the existing files? Or do we overwrite the existing files, run the product again and check allow overwrite to yes?

Last one - if we do the above does the fix from Paul M need to be redone?

Is it possible to remove 1 single match? Upgraded my forum and imported the database but a couple of matches appear @ OPEN and CLOSED but when I click on thread it says invalid page. Is it possible to remove those matches via phpmyadmin? If so, can anyone tell me exactly how? I ain't good with mysql and php.

Good to know that it's not working with the latest version of vBulletin. I've got v3.6.5 installed and it's working on that one so I will stay on it. It's just so sad to see that no one is working on an update. It's an amazing hack, one of the greatest hacks I've ever seen. But it could be 3 times so good coz it could be expanded indefinately with a lot of cool extra features.

Can't Andreas work together with someone to release a new and even better version of this awesome hack? I bet a lot of people would appreciate it...

the conditional on "newthread" isn't working correctly don't know why .. may be is not the conditional and is the hook or bitfiel or function XD .

I have not updated my icash since the author did his updates, right now vbookie is looking for a table in user called money so if you changed your money row name in Icash from the default that would cause my vbookie-icash zip not to work. Also i run the paypal donations hack which uses donate.php as does the Icash hack so I had to change all reference of donate.php in Icash to icash.php so it would not overwrite my paypal donate.php file.

I have vbookie and iBank and iCash all running on 3.6.7. with no problems.
