Ok I ran the uninstaller, dropped the tables that the installer created, and deleted the settinggroup using the debug mode. Is there anything else that I need to do...were there other changes in the DB that I need to take care of manually?
I see that the usergroup table was modified with with articlepermissions so I deleted the articlepermissions as well.
Looks like something was altered in the phrase table, however, I am not sure how to get rid of it.
Thanks everyone!

I wonder if there was a way to allow usergroups to create articles in certain categories, but not others?

lmao.....i just read 68 pages and never found the answer to my problem. The problem i am having is, i don't have the "article" in my admincp on the left hand side of my admin control page. I saw many thread's on people having this problem, but nobody showed the answer on how to resolve this issue. Any help on this unsupported hack would be greatly appreciated. hotwheels

Did you actually do this section of the instructions ?
In admincp/index.php
====================
FIND:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
construct_nav_option($vbphrase['announcement_manager'], 'announcement.php?do=modify', '|');
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ABOVE THIS, ADD:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
construct_nav_option('Category Manager', 'article.php?do=modify');
construct_nav_option('Add New Category', 'article.php?do=add');
construct_nav_option('Moderate Articles', 'article.php?do=modarticles');
construct_nav_option('Moderate Comments', 'article.php?do=modcomments');
construct_nav_group("Articles", '<hr />');
construct_nav_spacer();
// *************************************************

In the vb 3.5x this section doesn't exist. What can I do to resolve this problem and add these voices in the men? nav bar ?
Thank you all for the answers,
Giuseppe Leone
This isn't for 3.5, it's for 3.0.x. There won't be a port for 3.5, I might code a new version with an import script (but I can't promise anything).

That's mean I am in big trouble right now... I want to upgrade to 3.5.0, but I can not really loose all my articles.
Why bad things happened to good people? ;)
Thank you for reply, John.

Has anyone made an attempt to port this over yet, although I know the author said he probably wouldn't, if anyone has a hacked up version that workds on 3.5.1 can they possibly send me copy at my email addy (mailto@indiamike.com).
It was such a great script that become vital to my community and am stuck now since upgrading.
Any help would be appreciated.

MikeYou may want to look at the Geek Article System (GAS). It has an importer for v3 Articles and has a newer, albeit commercial, version for 3.5+. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I have looked at GAS but was unaware that there was an importer.

I did...........he said he will get some type of importer, but he doesn't think it will fix my current loss of vb3 articles. The importer won't convert the articles.
They are still safe in my mySQL, so hopefully someone can figure out how to upgrade this to the new version of vb3.5.2 and all will be good. This mod has over 350 install's, so we know it is popular.

Great job John, i've had this mod installed for ages now and its been working great.
Only thing is now i want to upgrade my forum to 3.5.X and i'd like to be able to retreive my articles from the database so i can import them into something that will support 3.5.X
Would much rather use this because its been great and working without problem. Have any idea if or when there will be a 3.5.X version?

GARS is the only thing for 3.5+
there IS a "free" version of it, but it will only work on one forum.
