and someone still want to say that this has something like a very BIGGY issue.

they should have known that John asked them to save the V3article options 1st before it CAN work...
It happenned to me too. It's just not something you expect to do, so it's easy to overlook. But there are still other issues with this hack. :(

Have you added $articlecontent in to your forumhome template ?

Yeah, and when I do, it just shows the featured_article template, but not the text.

FOR ANYONE that's getting THIS ERROR: Database error in vBulletin 3.0.3:

Go to ACP --> Vboptions --> V3 Article --> Edit whatever you like then SAVE IT !

it only works after doing this, re-read the instrucstion of John, he noticed about that but noone here cares to give an ass on it, sigh.

Ok, WTF is going on with this hack??? On John's site somebody has defaced the articles posted, all the support threads have been removed, and earlier today on this forum there was security fix for the article hack that has mysteriously disappeared!

Please do not just delete my post without some sort of PM or explaination as to why. If this hack has security bugs people should know about it!

Important Security Fix - Please download the attachment 'Articles-permissions-fix.txt (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=22553)' created by Paul MI posted a nice long explanation in my original topic.

Most of the "fixes" in this are large block replacements of code - this is not because large amounts of the code have been changed (most of the original code is still there unchanged) it is because there are many small additions and changes to all the sections to fix the holes, and there was no way I was going to list every single one, it was easyier to just list them as block replacements.

As I also said in the original topic, v3 Articles is not my hack and I am not supporting it - I will try and answer questions about my fixes (only) if I can, but at the end of the day it's your choice as to whether you use them. Make sure you backup your existing articles.php before you make any changes. FYI: All these changes have been working on our site for the last few weeks.

Is there a setting to disable inserting images into articles? I've enabled HTML and [IMG] tage for the categories.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Attention

I've updated the ZIP file with Paul M's security fixes. I've also updated the version number to 1.0.2 and added upgrade instructions for 1.0.1 users, please read Security Fix Upgrade .txt in the ZIP file - if you have already applied Paul M's fix, you DO NOT need to download the latest ZIP, you are already running 1.0.2.

Any questions, post here!

I have added the ability to do both of these (via admincp only) to the version we run. I also fixed the very annoying edit/preview problem. I was going to release them all as an addon, but the events of the other day have put me off the idea for now. Maybe in the new year. :)

It was a lie :D

No, a few reasons.

1. It's a completely different system which would have required a conversion script to move all the articles over. Back then I said all I had to do was write up the instructions for it, but that didn't include having to work on something to port the articles over.
2. A select group of ingrates were hassling me at the time for not giving them my undivided attention in getting v3 Articles working on their sites. (Yes, for free)
3. I decided that I would rather spend my time working instead of coding conversion scripts and creating more hassle for myself.

Preview bug;

If you edit an article, then preview your edit, then choose submit, the original (unedited) text is saved, losing your changes.

This small change should fix this bug.

In article.php

Find ;

construct_edit_toolbar($editarticle['message']);

Add this code above it ;

if ($_REQUEST['edpreview'])
{
if (isset($_POST['WYSIWYG_HTML']))
{
$editarticle['message'] = convert_wysiwyg_html_to_bbcode($_POST['WYSIWYG_HTML'], 0);
}
else
{
$editarticle['message'] = &$_POST['message'];
}

Nice of you to post; and your system looks great. It's a shame you're not releasing it.

But then, I still wouldn't install it because i'm guessing it would be as unsupported and buggy as the last (for reasons you are completeley right to give - you'd rather be working).

Thank you PaulM for helping everyone out with this hack so far :)

If I were to release it, I'd support it. Right now I'm not in the position to, so I won't. v3 Articles was never really tested enough, I never caught the bugs in there because of it.

John,

You have some nerve. You disappeared right after you suckered many people into giving you money for your "server & technical support" bills. Remember that? You left many, many people in the lurch... people that helped you.

You have an attitude and a huge ego. One may also say you are pretty short sighted in not following up with your hacks properly. Very easily you could have been in the same position as vbadvanced.com if you had a better attitutde and more realistic view of your skills.

Unlucky for you.

I rent one server, that server hosts the v3arcade.com site. I didn't sucker anyone into anything, I just said that if I couldn't afford to pay for the hosting bill, the site would go down.

Some generous people came forward and contributed, enough to cover two months of hosting costs - which was great, it helped out a lot and the site stayed up. But I never suggested for a moment that donations would be for anything other than keeping the site alive.

Sorry Regs, but you've got me wrong. What you're seeing as ego is actually someone in a lot of financial difficulties who can't afford to spend any time working on these free addons for people.

If money wasn't a problem, I'd spend all my free time on these hacks and their support. Unfortunately for me, it is a problem. Ego doesn't come into it when it comes down to a choice between surviving and making sure you're completely happy with a piece of code I released.

And when I do come back to try to offer some support, I usually find messages from people like you, launching personal attacks for my lack of support. If you were in my position, wouldn't you think twice about why you were contributing here?

Hi John,

what I'm disappointed about is that there is no further development on this product - there was at least one person who offered to release his modified and extended article system which was based on your code - but you stopped him by stating that you a new release is already finshed and needs only to be packaged.

And now you show us pictures of a system you will probably never release.

Please: Give a clear statement about the further development - YES or NO. Stop blocking other projects.

Thank you.

Again, my problem is not that there is no update, my problem is that you announced it and that your are still not able to say YES or NO.

After your announcement I've been waiting for 2 month - now I'm using a completly different solution which I had developed much earlier without your announcement. I fully understand your problem about working for money or for free, but:

Arpy hit the nail on the head.

History shows that you are only interested in your site when either someone wants to release addons and enhancements to your free hacks or you need money. And then you disappear again all the while people help run/moderate your site.

You had no problem accepting donations for your free hacks.

And if I recall correctly, the pitch for helping you sort out your money problems included a bit about releasing the Pro version of the arcade. You even posted a poll asking people how much they would be willing to pay.

And then not a word from you when your plans changed - that's where I am coming from.

It's not about a lack of support, never said that. It's about how you come off when you finally do decide to post something.

I also fail to see where you came back here to offer support? All I see is you showing something to people and saying "see this? you can't have it" - that's not support. That's being an arse.

Good luck in 2005.

Thanks Paul & others. Sometimes I can't believe I'm having conversations with these people, having to defend myself for these free addons I've released. There may have been a few bugs (which have all been fixed by some great contributors to the community), if these were paid products it would have been unacceptable. But they're not.

Regs -

History shows that you are only interested in your site when either someone wants to release addons and enhancements to your free hacks or you need money. And then you disappear again all the while people help run/moderate your site.

Perhaps you should take a look at the selection of addons for the arcade. That one addon someone developed for v3 Articles did come at a bad time, because I intended to release an update shortly. Due to personal problems, I was unable to (and being away from any source of internet access at that time, I couldn't explain my situation).

Secondly, I've only ever received 2 or 3 donations for the articles system. Most have been for the Arcade, and the only time they were ever solicited was when there was a danger of losing the server and the v3arcade.com site. Not because I needed help, if the site went down it wouldn't bother me - the members of the site wanted to keep it running, so they helped out with the costs. I've been very clear on this matter.

You had no problem accepting donations for your free hacks.

Why shouldn't I?

And if I recall correctly, the pitch for helping you sort out your money problems included a bit about releasing the Pro version of the arcade. You even posted a poll asking people how much they would be willing to pay.

That wasn't a "pitch", it was research. And where did I ever say anything about the donations being directly linked with Pro?

I also fail to see where you came back here to offer support? All I see is you showing something to people and saying "see this? you can't have it" - that's not support. That's being an arse.

When I did come back to offer support, all I saw were people like you complaining. So I left.

Why did I post the screenshots of the new system? Well, mainly it was to prove that I haven't been talking out of my arse, and that the update was done. Heck, I wouldn't have a problem with releasing it, but I don't have the time to support it - and as with this version, releasing a free addon without support brings nothing but trouble.

I've been running this for months on one of my sites with no issues at all, and I didn't need to make any changes to the code.

Well, you really should install Paul's security updates or else you might find all your artilces changed in embarrassing fashion by someone who wanders to your site and knows the leaks that are apparent. It's all gone now, but FYI somebody defaced the articles over on John's site.

John has kindly released this modification for all at vBulletin.org for free. It's clearly marked out as unsupported so you install at your own risk, with bugs or not. People do have lives outside of the computer so please understand that not everyone can spend all their time offering support. Note there are 55! pages in this thread, where most are asking for support. For one person to go through all of this is a pretty mammoth task. I hope you can understand that this is free work which John provided for all to use. Please try and keep polite and keep any personal indifferences, criticisms to PM.

Thanks :)

I installed this last night and it was a breeze. Thanks John!

I do have a question... I have the Article Moderation "On." However, articles awaiting moderation are showing up in the "Latest Article" section on the Main "Article Categories" page.

Is there a setting for that? [NO FIX FOUND]

Thanks Again! I appreciate your efforts!

Sorry but I don't use this hack here. I am just pointing out that the author of this hack is not the saint that some think he is.

Encouragement? I gave that over a 6 month period and then just gave up when it was apparent the author in question didn't care.

When you are in a bad personal situation and ask users at your site for help and they come through in spades, you do not then just abandon the site and don't post for weeks/months. At that point, you owe your members a bit more in gratitude - full stop. It doesn't take much to show you care.

Free stuff is great obviously and I agree that there are those who push the boundaries in demanding stuff. However, it is wrong to paint everyone with the same brush. Nothing wrong with not supporting a hack but don't expect it to sit well with people when you goad them with posts and screenshots like you did.

As for some of the vB.org staff poking their heads into this thread: please be a little more careful on how you appear to choose sides when this stuff comes up. Over the years I have pointed out and warned members here about Corey W, Inside The Pixel, and the vBtrader author. In every instance, staff here were quick to defend the hackers as if I had not done my homework and were just posting for the sake of posting. Research my posts here, I'm not a demanding ingrate.

I call them as I see them after a period of time and will continue to do so as long as I still work with vB software.

Cheers,

~Regs.

I'm sorry, but if you think I regard myself as a "saint", I'm not going to waste my time responding to these attacks. You obviously have some sort of personal issue with me that has nothing to do with these hacks, in which case this isn't the place for it.

Send over a list of the contributions you've made to this community, then we'll talk.

Do you see the unmoderated articles when logged in as a standard user? (Or not logged in at all?)Both.

Something weird just happened. A "latest comment" popped-up on my test article. The link however is to: "member.php?username=". I have no idea where that "comment" came from. I have moderate comments "ON" also. When I go to "moderate comments" in the CP it says, "There are no comments to moderate." [FIXED]

I just deleted the article associated with that message in the control panel however the article was still showing up in the main "Article Categories" page.[FIXED]

Also, to remove the article I used the "edit" then "delete" box. This deleted the article but the article "count" is still being displayed. [FIXED]

John if u can release the updated articles system u showed would be good...and with the note of no support from the start. I dont see if that is a problem. If u need money for that, tell an amount, to see if we can cover it(i would like to)

Also, a bug that i havent managed to find a solution till now, is the bug with the attachments.

As i see it, u use a different upload attachments(images) system from the articles hack, than the Vb system, and this has the result to upload only one per time...can we fix that so we can upload more than one per time?(10 for example)

Hope all have a good new year :)

I've been playing around with articles (adding, editing, deleting) and it seems like the main "Article Categories" page is what is giving me problems. In addition to those above, the latest challenge I found was when you change the "Title" to an article the changes are reflected in the "category" but not on the "Article Categories" page. [FIXED]

I have had this script installed for a while, and I was informed by one of my moderators tonight that he could not view comments for the various articles. They show in the article list, but if you go to the article itself and scroll down, the comments are not there. For me as an administrator, I can see them, but apparently no one else can. I went to the Admin Control panel under the Usergroup Manager and found that neither of the radio buttons for "Can View Comments" the moderators and all other usergroups was not checked. So I checked Yes (for Unregistered / Not Logged In usergroup), and clicked save. Tried to view the comments on an article while not logged in, the comments were not showing. So I went back to that usergroup in the Usergroup Manager, and the button was no longer checked.

Does anyone have any ideas how I an get this permission to "stick". It is nice that I can view the comments, but it sticks that no one else can. Oh, I have also upgrades to the most recent version of the Articles script and applied the security fix.

You help is most appreciated.

Thanks!

It says that if you do the security fix then you have the latest patch, so one assumes that the only change in the lastest patch is the secutiry fix. If that's true then I was going to ask why we can't just copy the file from the patch instead of hacking it?

Paul M
01-04-2005, 11:57 AM
It's really not that hard to follow;

If you had 1.0.1 installed before the security patch was issued you can either apply the fixes as detailed in the fix document, or you can download v1.0.2 and just replace the article.php. If you are installing from scratch then just download 1.0.2 - this has the security fixes aplied to it already.

There are more patches & addons in the vb3 addon's forum that you can apply if you wish.

Hi,

I'm trying to get the 'Featured Article' thing to show up on the index page, but I'm having trouble.

I got the featured_article template to show, but the actual featured article won't.

I've added the following to the index.php page:

$globaltemplates = array(
'FORUMHOME',
'forumhome_event',
'forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost',
'forumhome_forumbit_level1_post',
'forumhome_forumbit_level2_nopost',
'forumhome_forumbit_level2_post',
'forumhome_lastpostby',
'forumhome_loggedinuser',
'forumhome_moderator',
'forumhome_pmloggedin',
'forumhome_subforumbit_nopost',
'forumhome_subforumbit_post',
'forumhome_subforumseparator_nopost',
'forumhome_subforumseparator_post',
'article_featured'
);

then

require_once('./includes/functions_articles.php');

And finally

// ### Start Articles

$featuredarticle = unserialize($datastore['featuredarticle']);
if ($featuredarticle['id'])
{
$feature = $DB_site->query_first("SELECT article.*, articlepost.*, articlecategory.options AS options FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "article AS article
INNER JOIN " . TABLE_PREFIX . "articlepost AS articlepost ON (articlepost.postid = article.firstpostid)
INNER JOIN " . TABLE_PREFIX . "articlecategory AS articlecategory ON (articlecategory.categoryid = article.categoryid)
WHERE article.articleid=$featuredarticle[id]");
}
if (!empty($feature['title']))
{

// do html
if ($feature['options'] & 256)
{
$dohtml = 1;
}

if ($feature['options'] & 512)
{
$dosmilies = 1;
}

// get an attachment, if there's one with a thumnail
$attachment = $DB_site->query_first("SELECT attachmentid FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "articleattachment WHERE articleid=$featuredarticle[id] AND thumbnail_dateline>1 ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 0,1");
if (!empty($attachment['attachmentid']))
{
$GLOBALS['isattachment'] = true;
}

require_once('./includes/functions_bbcodeparse.php');
$feature['postbody'] = truncate_text($feature['postbody'], $vboptions['featuredlength'], 1);
$feature['postbody'] = parse_bbcode2($feature['postbody'], $dohtml, 0, $dosmilies, 1);

eval('$articlecontent .= "' . fetch_template('article_featured') . '";');
}

// ### End Articles

// ### ALL DONE! SPIT OUT THE HTML AND LET'S GET OUTA HERE... ###
eval('$articlecontent .= "' . fetch_template('article_featured') . '";');
eval('$navbar = "' . fetch_template('navbar') . '";');
eval('print_output("' . fetch_template('FORUMHOME') . '");');

However, this only displays the template, like I said. It doesn't show the featured article.

Hey I figured out how to add the featured article to the Forum Home...

You basically do everything you just did... plus

add $articlecontent to your FORUMHOME template

also in your index.php file

change

$specialtemplates = array(
'userstats',
'birthdaycache',
'maxloggedin',
'iconcache',
'eventcache',
'mailqueue'

to

$specialtemplates = array(
'userstats',
'birthdaycache',
'maxloggedin',
'iconcache',
'eventcache',
'mailqueue',
'featuredarticle'
);

Now whenever you feature an article it will also show on the Forum home... hope that helps.

mello_mike

OH I Just noticed something.. there's a change that have to be made in order to get the featured article from showing up twice on the forum home.

in your Index.php file Change

// ### ALL DONE! SPIT OUT THE HTML AND LET'S GET OUTA HERE... ###
eval('$articlecontent .= "' . fetch_template('article_featured') . '";');
eval('$navbar = "' . fetch_template('navbar') . '";');
eval('print_output("' . fetch_template('FORUMHOME') . '");');

to

// ### ALL DONE! SPIT OUT THE HTML AND LET'S GET OUTA HERE... ###
eval('$navbar = "' . fetch_template('navbar') . '";');
eval('print_output("' . fetch_template('FORUMHOME') . '");');

This is going to sound dumb - please don't laugh.

i installed this script/hack. Uhhh how do I actually write an article? In the forum proper you have buttons "new thread" in this hack I see no means in which to write an article.

I visited the vb3articles.com site, and again (as a guest user) saw no ability to write an article. I then registered on that site, and couldn't get back to the article page - because as a registered user I didn't have permission to view the article page, logging out though I did have permission. So as a registered user I couldn't see if there was a new article button or soething there to allow me to actually write the article.

What did I miss there?

Also (I'm new to VB) why are there a whole other set of "add ons" fo this? Has development on this stopped and moved to someone else?

How can I make so that the un-approved articles dont appear at all anywhere in the system?

ThanksThe fact people can view unapproved articles is another bug I fixed when I first installed and tested our version. The fact that they appear in the list at all is a more complicated problem to fix and I didn't bother fixing for us - since people could no longer view the article anyway.

I'm off to bed now so I'll dig the first fix out for you tomorrow. :)

Something weird is going on with this mod. I just upgraded to 3.0.4 and just reinstalled the mod in the files and it worked fine. Then suddently today I got this e-mail:

Database error in vBulletin 3.0.4:

Invalid SQL:
SELECT * FROM articlepost
WHERE type=2 AND articleid=5 AND valid=1
ORDER BY postdateline ASC
LIMIT 0,

mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 4

I try entering the articles and get the same error again. Before this happened I could view every article and even see the "preview" of one of the articles on top of the page.
Now I can't even view the settings for the articles in vBulletin Options (can view the other settings in admincp though).

I've tried running the install script again, but of course it fails when it tries to add new tables, because the tables are already there.

I don't want to remove the tables from the database and reinstall completely, as I'll lose over a hundred articles.

And yes, I have checked the file changes at least 10 times.

I bit the bullet and upgraded our forum to 3.0.5 tonight. The vB upgrade script nicely wiped out all the articles templates. :rolleyes:

This is because they are installed as Master templates, and the upgrade script wipes and replaces all the master templates. Therefore i had to restore the templates from the backup I took (you do all backup before upgrading don't you ;)).

Alternatively, I believe the articles install script has the option to install the templates only. Now that the templates are restored it seems to be functioning okay. :)

What extra mods might be required to get this to run "fully" with CMPS?

I've installed it and everything works just fine - but I dont have any admin functions in AdminCP - ie, all my links are there for admin functions on CMPS, vbChat, etc - but nothing that says "Articles" on it. I know its working correctly because if I go to www.domain.com/articles.php the page is there.

EDIT:that probably isnt very clear is it? What I mean is there is no "Articles" section appearing in the left column of the AdminCP.

Sorry if this has been covered before, I've had a quick look on the forums but cant find the answer, so...

I'm running vb 3.0.5, with CMPS, vbChat and VbArticles.

Following a recent install of "Articles", everything seems to work fine with one exception I discovered this morning: If I go into AdminCP and click on "Forum Manager" or "Add New Forum", I just get a blank page, with the rest of the admin panel still in place.

It only does it with these two options, everything else under the "Forums and Moderators" dropdown works fine, as do all the other options in AdminCP.

Have I missed editing a file somewhere? Or does my configuration with the other hacks screw it up somehow?

Well I've now read through this entire thread and found nothing related to this problem - if anyone can shed any light on why this might have happened I'd appreciate it. I've checked and double checked the installation process ,as far as I know the file that this uses - admincp/forum.php - isn't amended by vBArticles, but if its used in some way that is causing the problem I'd be glad of someone telling me. Otherwise I'll uninstall it.

Thanks.

I have a small problem with the attachments , i click Manage Attachmnt , and i get the popup box , i select the file , put in the caption , click on upload (yes the right file format .. just a .jpg ... and its only tiny in size ) and as soon as i click upload i get a white blank screen on the upload box ... have i missed something or could this be from a different hack clashing with it ??

Thanks For the hack John - its very good even if i dont figure out the Thumbnails

Heh. I've got an installation problem. I lost my internet connectivity while running the installation file (admincp/install.php). Now, when I try to install, the first step yields an error (as expected) that says the table has already been added. Is there any way to skip to the step I want or to correct this problem?

Thanks for this great modification. I have a small problem though with the thumbnails - they just don't show up. I checked my settings on my server and GD is installed and working (it works when users upload attachments in the main forum) but not in the article section.

Any suggestions pointers are more than welcome!

I am searching for a way to create a forum thread in a predefined forum when a new article was posted.

I have members writing columns but now one reads it cause no one gets aware of the fact that there is a new one in the article system :D

Does someone of you has a hack for that?

Hi all,

v3 articles is working pretty well for me, thanks!

I have one problem and I cannot figure it out. I did a little page in dreamweaver, and tried to add the article by pasting in the html. I then when into the database and changed the post field by pasting in the html.

As you can see its really stretched, I cannot figure out why though. Can anyone help please?

Many thanks

I too had the same problem, it's caused by the whitespace between the different table tags.

Now it will probably look like this:
<table>
<tr>
<td>Content
</td>
</tr>
</table>

Change so that it's like this:
<table><tr><td>Content</td></tr></table>

Running the uninstaller brings up this:

The database changes made to this vBulletin installation have been undone.

However, tables containing content and category information still remain. For security reasons, these tables must be deleted manually.

My question is now which tables must be deleted and what about the templates and phrases?

WHAT exactly do I have to uninstall manually?

My only problem...

I don't see the area on the left-hand side of the AdminCP where I can manage my articles (specifically the categories, etc.). I have the option in my 'General VBulletin' options, but not along the left-hand side of the AdminCP.

Any thoughts?

Thanks. That fixed the thumbnail problem. As far as the style, it doesn't appear there are many templates, so I'll probably just edit those. If you have a different style installed on your site you'll have to upload the pictures of the new article button to that image dir.

Eg, I have the vbstyles Aria skin installed so have a folder called aria in my forum dir i had to upload the pics to the image dir within aria and not the default vbulletin image folder.

Does that make sense to anyone but me lol

Time to uninstall, I think.If someone has no articles system installed then I would agree that this is probably not the one to pick anymore, but if you already have it installed and working then why remove it just for the sake of it, aren't you just creating yourself work transferring to another system (or losing all your articles) ?

I am keeping an eye on the other article systems, but only one currently allows user submissions (like this one) - and at the moment, this system does the job we want it to do, so I see no reason to change. :)

I see no reason to change. :)
I have been frustrated with the inability to search the Articles using the standard search system. And administrating them has been unweidly.
I've picked the Geek system since it allows you to import the v3articles.
And it sensibly stores the articles in the main database tables.
A no brainer, ten, really, considering our position.
Thanks, guys.

I have tried all of the article systems and I believe this one, by far is the most stable and the one with the fewest install problems....

This one is also actually an article system with an article.php page.... Not just basically another forum like another article hack ( no offence intended ) ...

If you guys are having problems just go in and manually edit your database and reinstall or what ever....

MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 2 That right there tells you that you made a mystake in your editing.......

Here is a tip and I know there are many here smarter than me but this just might help you... When editing your templates... First thing- Create a folder and save all of them in it... Then if you have to start over you can!!

Create another folder - A work folder for the templates you are going to edit. Use a good program like WYNSYNTAX . If you have to remove some of your edits you can just click undo...... Worst case you still have the back up folder.... just start over...

Hope I helped in some small way........ I think this is a great hack and I thank John for it....

Thanks!

And when i try to set the permissions in admincp for guests being able to view comments the page does a weird scroll jump to another segment and leaves the option unselected? :ermm:

Any advice? Cheers

Sounds interessting, but the demo site seems to be down. Are there any other demo sites available or an alternative managing articles with websites running vb3?

Paul M

Well we aren't a demo site - but you are welcome to look at our articles section (http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/article.php?).

Can I ask what this means as I had to modify the code to allow Moderators to be able to Moderate Articles and any comments submitted about them...? Did I get it wrong?:rolleyes:

I thought only Admins could moderate submitted articles in the stock vBarticles code.

What about a Super Mod with Admin privs? It seems that the articles bit shows up in their admin panel but when they try to moderate are told they don't have permission. How can I get around this without making them a full out moderator?

I have recently instelled this hack and it's not bad. The only problem I have is that the layout is a little cluttered (at least on my board it is). Anyways, which file and where in the file can I make the following changes:

1. Remove the "Post a Comment section". I don't need my members posting any comments on product reviews or how-to sections.

2. Remove the "Media" box that is around the images and then move the images so that they are above the "Rate this article" part.

Other then that the hack looks good. It's nice and simple for what is need and was a breeze to instal.

This may be old news but I just took a look through the database fields and found this in almost every article...

I don't put enough security on my site, so i get hacked like this.

Thanks acid! Lol...

I installed the software today. It's working great. Is there a way for me to add a remove featured article button somewhere? I know the do=feature link works, but would like to add a button somewhere if possible.

I also get a link instead of the image for the featured article. I installed the latest version and upgrade v.1.0.1. GD 2 is working fine on the forums.

Thanks,

BUMP.

How to remove v3 articles completely? I removed all file edits and drop the article tables, but still have v3articles showing up in the admncp under vbulletin options. I deleted the phrase, but the space is still there and still brings me another page with nothing on it but a save button. I ran the uninstaller too.

Help..anyone...please :ermm:

I believe if you cofig to debug mode you'll see an option to remove or edit a settings set. But I think you can find it by browsing settings in your database too. It's been a while since I did it, I hope I'm remembering correctly for you.

Put you board into debug mode and then delete the settings and group.

Alright, before I lose my mind...can someone please explain to me how I can delete this hack.

I ran the un-installer and I still have options showing in the AdminCP...I deleted those from the index.php file, however, still have options showing in the permissions???

If someone could be so kind to help me with this it would be appreciated...thanks!

is this test for the current version of VB?

or is there a newer article system?Not really sure what you mean - this runs on vB 3.0.7 if that's your question. There are at least two other article hacks if you search for them, both also run on 3.0.7.
