Improve your URL structure and alleviate duplicate content penalties for your forum with DragonByte SEO, a search engine optimisation mod for vBulletin 3.8.x and vBulletin 4.x.x.
Uses
DragonByte SEO is a complete, modern and fully supported Search Engine Optimisation solution for vBulletin 3.8.x and vBulletin 4.x.x, allowing you to easily eliminate duplicate content penalties from search engines and improve the search engine friendliness of your content URLs via multiple powerful tools.
By giving you total control over how the URLs are presented, DragonByte SEO allows you to customise your site's URL structure should you so choose, or leave the settings at their default values for a "set-it-and-forget-it" experience.
Integrated sitemap builders automatically submit multiple content types to various search engines, ensuring any new URL formats are instantly picked up upon.

Major Features (Lite)
PHP 5.4 Support: By creating DragonByte SEO on PHP 5.4, we've been able to ensure compatibility with this PHP version in the event you or your host decides to upgrade in order to continue to receive bugfix and security updates.
Google Analytics Integration: You can easily integrate Google Analytics with your forum by simply entering your account ID, and choose the level of detail you want to track.
Dynamic Meta Tags: Meta Keywords and Descriptions can become content-aware on certain pages like blogs and threads, increasing the relevance of these pages.
External Link Handling: You can choose to add "nofollow" to all external links, preventing search engine spiders from leaving your site. With the ability to fine-tune where this applies, white- and blacklist support as well as optional anonymisation techniques, you are in complete control over your external references.
Powerful URL Rewrites: Almost every URL found in vBulletin can be rewritten via powerful rewrite rules, enabling you to customise your rule set to perfection. The default rewrite URL settings match that of DragonByte-Tech!
Sitemap Generation: Sitemaps can be automatically created for all supported URLs, and automatically submitted to search engines.
Major Features (Pro)
vBSEO Importer: DragonByte SEO is compatible with vBSEO rewrite rules, and can import your rule set from the latest version of vBSEO seamlessly.
Custom URL Rewrites: Take further control over your forum URLs with the ability to write your own URL formats.
Custom Blog Domain: Run your vBulletin Blog from blog.yourdomain.com (or any other domain you wish).
Custom CMS Domain: Run your vBulletin CMS from cms.yourdomain.com (or any other domain you wish).
Custom Rewrite Rules: If you have custom vBulletin-powered pages, you can create rewrite rules for them using this feature.
Custom Sitemap URLs: Your custom pages can also be added to the sitemap, with individual update frequency / priority / last update date settings.
Custom 301 Redirects: You no longer have to edit your server-side rewrite rules in order to create 301 redirects for your content.
Content-Aware SEO Titles: Blogs, CMS Articles and Threads can generate SEO titles based on the content rather than the title, great for forums with a high number of unhelpful titles.
Advanced Logging: Spider and Sitemap hits can be logged, and the logs can be browsed via the DBSEO AdminCP via the same intuitive interface used in vBulletin's own log browsers.

If you read the first post, it lists all the things that are in the pro version that are not in the lite version. The copyright is also in the pro version too.

If you have absolutely no interest in using the modification (for whatever reason) then perhaps you should shut up and stop flaming the OP's thread? Afterall - DBTech obviously are not going to change their copyright policy. It's also quite clear that a great majority of DBTech mod users are okay with the copyright.
Anyway - Nice share DBTech. Here's wishing you success with both the free and paid versions of your script.
J.
FWIW - The "pro features" list takes up what appears to be only 1/5 the op contents.
The rest is a list of lite version features...

This is a support thread for a modification release, not a school playground.
If you have nothing better to do than attack peoples work, I suggest you find somewhere else to do it.

Need I remind some that the former heavyweight seo modification is no longer available AND that it had no lite version whatsoever so the fact they offer a lite version at all should do nothing but make you smile.
For those still running vBSEO who need to remove it for security reasons, this should be a perfect replacement. Myself and a few others who know how to tweak a site and use .htaccess mod rewrites will probably not use it BUT for those who do not know what we do its a very easy way to "SEO" your site.

Hi Guys
Just testing this now, following your read me txt I have placed this into our .htaccess:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(****/|dbseocp/|******/|cron|*******|forumrunner|api\.php)
RewriteRule ^((archive/)?(.*\.php(/.*)?))$ dbseo.php [L,QSA]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !/(******|dbseocp|****|clientscript|cpstyles|images)/
RewriteRule ^(.+)$ dbseo.php [L,QSA]
Should I rename these items I have *'ered? I'm now getting 404 pages when navigating the site.

Totally not working on our site.....404's everywhere

Should I rename these items I have *'ered?If you have renamed your AdminCP and ModCP directories they should also be renamed in the .htaccess file, yeah.
I'm now getting 404 pages when navigating the site.Are you sure your web server is .htaccess compatible?
Also, if your forum / CMS / blog are in separate physical directories, issues can arise. For now, that kind of setup is not supported until we can figure out how to make it work.
Looks Like Great mod but any one or DBteach please tell us can this mod is slow down our site speed like Vbseo........or does not affect our site........thanksAny modification can slow down your site, and mods that perform alterations to your content on-the-fly especially so. That being said, our own private tests indicated a 33% reduction in resource consumption from vBSEO. This is not a result all our customers & testers could replicate, so we do not promise or advertise any form of performance gain from vBSEO.
Any support for those of us who use NGINX?There is no official nginx support due to us lacking testing, but a customer of ours (that runs vB in a subdirectory called /forum/) has allowed us to give these rules out on request: location /forum/ {
try_files $uri $uri/ /forum/dbseo.php?$args;
if (-f $request_filename) {
expires 30d;
break;
}
if ($request_filename ~ "\.php$" ) {
rewrite ^(/forum/.*)$ /forum/dbseo.php last;
}
if (!-e $request_filename) {
rewrite ^/forum/(.*)$ /forum/dbseo.php last;
}
}
location ~ /forum/(.*\.php)$ {
rewrite ^/forum/(.*)$ /forum/dbseo.php last;
}
Please note that I have absolutely no idea whether these rules work, or whether they are optimal. We are working behind the scenes on being able to provide official Nginx support, but for the moment this is provided with absolutely no guarantees.

thanks for the great hack,
for some reason my urls are coming up + signs instead of _.
i.e www.domain.com/the+section+name
www.domain.com/the +thread+name,
If I try a different one like - instead of _ it re-writes the domain but it says invalid forum specified.
Why am I getting + signs instead of the _ when setting it up.
thanks
P.S I really am thinking of buying this product and replacing vbseo, as anything that is released by dbtech always stands out and delivers. I want to buy the product but not before I make sure why am I getting + signs instead of _ .

I have all these folders renamed, so it's just a matter of matching these up.

Yes

I've no idea why that would happen for you.
Can you try disabling all other mods to eliminate the possibility of a URL conflict?
Everything is default. only thing is. Our forum is placed within a folder called forums would this make any difference?DragonByte SEO is currently not compatible with the "Component URL" scheme in vB4. If, for instance, the CMS is in your root folder (the placeholder files) and your actual forum is in the /forums/ folder, then DBSEO will need to be uploaded to the /forums/ folder and the CMS URLs cannot be rewritten (they will all produce 404).
Does this apply to you?

So if I moved our forums files ie vbulletin into just public_html this mod would work...

How is your directory structure laid out just now?
I've seen two possibilities:
1. Your actual vB files are in public_html and the "forum" files from the "do_not_upload" folder were uploaded to your /forums/ folder
2. Your actual vB files are in /forums/ and the "cms" files from the "do_not_upload" folder were uploaded to your public_html
If #1: You should upload DBSEO to public_html and edit the .htaccess file in public_html, and you should empty the "Forum Component URL" setting.
Note that the Lite version will not allow you to restore the "/forums/" prefix to your forum URLs due to not being able to customise your URL formats beyond the default.
If #2: You should upload DBSEO to /forums/ and edit the .htaccess file in /forums/. and you should empty the "CMS Component URL" setting.
Note that the Lite version will not allow you to strip the "/content/" prefix from your CMS URLs due to not being able to customise your URL formats beyond the default.

I have never had this: do_not_upload. uploaded to public_html. Only the upload folder is in the public_html/forums.
2. Your actual vB files are in /forums/ and the "cms" files from the "do_not_upload" folder were uploaded to your public_html
I will check this, but we don't use the CMS function, only vbadvanced for our home page

I have the DBSEO folder uploaded to public_html/forums/dbseo. I also noticed that anyone can login to this.

I have a few mods of yours installed I know where they go ok...The only one I was unsure about is the: dbseocp which is located in: public_html/forums/dbseocp
The rest of the files are all in the correct locations.

vBAdvanced is notorious for causing conflicts due to their nonstandard way of initialising their script.
Just to be clear: Are you having 404 errors when browsing /forums/ or just when clicking forum links in vBAdvanced?

I just changed the forums folder directly into the public_html and everything is working 100% now. After changing all the forum URL'S in the database with replacement variables, and fixing attachments file paths. I'm not sure why the original admin placed all the vb files in a forums folder.
The only problem I'm having now, is. I changed our forum url to: https://nirc.co.uk And now after you login, it sort of doesn't log you in. It doesn't jump to log you in even after it says it has, if that makes sense?

This is by design. Not that everyone can access the DBSEO AdminCP, but that you can give permission to access it outside of your normal admins.
You will find an option under each Usergroup (probably the last option on the bottom of the list) that looks like this:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2014/02/8.jpg
Just make sure it is set to "No" for any group you do not want to be able access and change the settings within the DBSEO AdminCP.

I'm interested in buying this because ever since vBSEO went offline the sitemap generator isn't working so we are being crawled much less than before and I don't want to lose traffic. Is another way to automatically submit sitemaps other than this plugin? I know vB has its own sitemap functionality but don't know how it compares.
As silly as it sounds, the "likes" function from vBSEO is something my site has come to rely on a lot. We don't use reputation at all, just have a count of likes given and received in the postbit. Is there something in dbseo that is similar? I know that there are add-ons we can use but it would be very convenient to have this transition easily.
Lastly, besides the sitemap problem is there any reason I need to switch from vBSEO? The URL rewrites are still working but have no idea about the SEO parts, or if the things vBSEO does are still relevant today. Maybe there is a security issue though or some other problem that makes it dangerous to keep running vBSEO?

Is another way to automatically submit sitemaps other than this plugin? I know vB has its own sitemap functionality but don't know how it compares.DBSEO's sitemap builder was created based on the vB4 sitemap builder. The vB4 sitemap builder is vastly more powerful than vBSEO's, in terms of session handling and general functionality for the administrator, and DBSEO inherited this power.
As silly as it sounds, the "likes" function from vBSEO is something my site has come to rely on a lot. We don't use reputation at all, just have a count of likes given and received in the postbit. Is there something in dbseo that is similar? I know that there are add-ons we can use but it would be very convenient to have this transition easily.Our Advanced Post Thanks / Like product has an importer from vBSEO Likes. We will never implement a similar function in DBSEO, not only because of the duplication issues but because we feel that this functionality is not relevant to SEO.
Unlike other products, DBSEO was designed to only include functionality that provide a direct benefit to SEO in some way or another. Research shows that links shared across social networks is the "new pingback", and such links gain a higher priority than automatically crawled links. For that reason, we implemented social sharing functionality.
Lastly, besides the sitemap problem is there any reason I need to switch from vBSEO? The URL rewrites are still working but have no idea about the SEO parts, or if the things vBSEO does are still relevant today. Maybe there is a security issue though or some other problem that makes it dangerous to keep running vBSEO?There have been unconfirmed rumours of a new vBSEO exploit, but as I do not know of a single forum that's actually been exploited at this time I'm not sure how much credence should be given to this rumour.
That being said, the main reason to switch, IMO, is that DBSEO is supported. If you are having an issue with the mod on your site and I can't reproduce it locally, I will personally visit it and work with you to fix it, regardless if you're running the free Lite version or the paid Pro version.
I'm not sure how the support situation is with vBSEO now that the site is gone, but I would imagine that if you ran into a problem you would need to pay someone to fix it.
DBSEO is also slimmer than vBSEO, with the aforementioned non-SEO features not included. When we switched to DBSEO on dragonbyte-tech.com, we noticed a 33% speed increase. Other customers have reported smaller speed increases, or noticed no change.
Obviously this is going to depend very heavily on your server, so we make no promises or advertisements regarding speed increases, it's very much YMMV.

The one click solution is extremely handy but it does cost.
I've got the Pro version installed now and am happy with it. I am not completely familiar with all the limitations of the Lite version, but I'm pretty sure you can still transition smoothly from vbSEO to DBSEO with the Lite version. It'll just take some patience and time to transfer the dozens of settings over manually.
Alan_SP
02-24-2014, 04:50 PM
You can import it with importer, then it's automatically done, but also you could manually change settings to those in vBSEO. So, you don't have to buy pro version to use DBSEO.

Let me first state that I've been testing/using DragonByte SEO Pro for approximately 4 months now on a live vb4 site. I should also mention that there are numerous things which can cause traffic on a website to fluctuate, whether it's up or down, and SEO is just one of them, but it can be a significant one.
The graph above is of site traffic on the vb4 site I installed DragonByte SEO Pro on. Prior to installing DragonByte SEO Pro I had been running vbSEO on it for nearly 18 months and although I did see some initial boost in traffic way back when I first installed vbSEO, for some time now (over a year) the site had been pretty stagnant as far as traffic goes - always increasing but just slightly. For those unfamiliar with the previous product I had installed "vbSEO", it was also an SEO based product, but it is no longer available and no longer supported.
Here are some details related to the graphed timeline above:
1) I had been running vbSEO exclusively up until approximately November 1, 2013.
2) On or about November 1, 2013 (give or take a couple days) I started in the DragonByte SEO Pro Beta Testing Program, which happened to be currently on Beta 3 at the time. From this point on through approximately the end of December 2013 I installed approximately 8 Beta versions of DragonByte SEO with numerous hotfixes in between those versions. During this time I would also, on occasion, switch back to using vbSEO when there was a significant issue in the DragonByte SEO Beta being worked on that would cause my site not to function as intended. You can see on the graph as could be expected during that section of the Beta period there was a slight decrease in traffic do to occasional issues that would've been encountered by search engines and users.
3) Starting with Beta 8, which I installed on December 10, 2013, I considered DragonByte SEO Pro pretty stable and began using it exclusively full time.
4) On December 30, 2013 I installed DragonByte SEO Pro Release Candidate 1
5) On January 18, 2014 I installed DragonByte SEO Pro Gold.
6) During the time period graphed above I did not add any significant content to the site, did not change servers, nor was there any advertising or marketing campaign going on. The percentage split of "Visits By Medium" all stayed pretty constant too, right around: 75% Organic (search engine), 18% Direct and 7% Referral (social media) throughout the entire time graphed above.
My observations since DragonByte SEO Pro has been running on my site exclusively:
1) My page rankings through Google are significantly higher overall. Although most pages were indexed previously many were not ranked well enough to be visible to get hits.
2) Numerous organic search queries, which I didn't even register for before, I now rank well on and get high click through rates on.
3) There has been a significant reduction in duplicate tags/descriptions.
Like I mentioned above there are numerous things that can cause traffic to fluctuate on a website. You can draw your own conclusions.

Do you know your PR at these times? Or just now?
Google's old "PageRank" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank) is not much of a factor (if any) in determining a websites importance/performance these days. The origins of "PageRank" pre-dates even the first Google Bots and the newer Google Panda (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Panda), Google Penguin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Penguin) and Google Hummingbird (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Hummingbird). It was good when it first came out (about 2001) but the algorithm it used is not nearly as accurate as the newer methods that Google uses today (some of which they will not divulge) to actually rank your site and pages in their search engine.
The other factor to consider is "PageRank" was a per page rank. It would give a different rank for every url of your site. It was not all encompassing and would've been hard to judge a websites overall rank using it, especially a forum which has hundreds if not thousands of pages.
With that all said, No I do not have any "PageRank" info from before, and honestly have not looked at the "PageRank" for any site in years. When I actually looked up to see if Google was still using it the last article written on "PageRank" was in 2007, so I'm thinking if it's not defunct already it really is not much of a factor. It also appears the only people offering to be able to check your Google "PageRank" are third parties. If it's not in Google's own Webmaster Tools I wouldn't count it with much weight.
Edit: The third party "PageRank" checker: prchecker.info says the site I detailed above's main landing page's rank is a "1" (as in 1 out of 10) :rolleyes:

Ok, I thought you maybe new some info on your site, I noticed change in PR before installing vBSEO (from 1 to 4), then after sometime it went from 4 to 3. And I noticed less traffic.
So, it looks like it has some use. But, this is just my observation.

bzcomputers - thanks for sharing that info. One thing I've noticed from over 10 years of doing this is that nothing, especially Google, is predictable. The other thing I noticed is that a lot of times, if you change some things on all pages of your site, Google will reindex everything and perhaps refactor some ranking calculations. I'm guessing this is what happened with you. It took 2 months to reindex.

I have found a possibly exploitable error.
When browsing to the last post (from the forum index or any other way) you can append anything to the end and it will think it is valid.

Instead of thinking this url below is wrong, it treats it as if it's valid and does not send an error message.

iirf.ini files appear to stand for Ionics Isapi Rewrite Filter. You can find more info about it here.

IIRF doesn't use .htaccess.
I don't know where you are getting web.config; I don't know what you intend to do with that. I think in IIS7 web.config might be the store for rewrite rules. This is not the case for IIRF or IIS6.
If you use IIRF., you must supply a file named IIRF.ini which contains the rewrite rules. The rules you must provide in IIRf.ini are close to, but not exactly the same as those used in the .htaccess. There are some features in Apache that are not available in IIS+IIRF, and .htaccess uses those features; you must remove those statements from IIRF.ini. As well, there are some things you will want in IIRF.ini, that are not provided in the htaccess.txt. Starting with htaccess.txt if I snip out the Apache-only parts and add in the IIRF-only parts, I get this set of rules, which ought to work:

Installed this last night and it broke all kinds of links on the forum. Had to disable it. Complaints from members:
I get a broken link icon in place of everyone's avatar
When I try to view my profile it says "page not found"
Clicking on some forums yields the following message: "Invalid Forum specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator." but I can still get to individual threads in those forums
When I click on the Official Decrees or Feedback subforums I get the message "Invalid forum specified."
When I click on the Forum link it takes me to the home page instead.

htaccess was not added earlier.
I have added it now and that fixed the not found errors. But all pages are running extremely slow and I had to disable the plugin. It ground the forum to a halt The board runs with about 500 concurrent users and has about 2.3M posts. Does the software not work with a board this busy?

DragonByte SEO v1.0.8
Changes to Existing Features:
Manual & Automatic cron jobs will now attempt to increase its allowed memory to a more sensible value if PHP is configured too restrictive
Forums that point to an external link will now display the link itself, rather than the rewritten forum URL
(Pro) Custom Rewrite Rules are now supported for Canonical URLs
Bug Fixes And Issue Fixes:
Improved memory handling for Sitemap files
Albums with an ampersand (&) in the title could not be browsed if [album_id] was not added to the URL format
(vB4) Saving CMS articles could lead to an infinite loop

That will not help you at all, there is to many variables to account for. It could add a 1% load on 100 sites, but on yours it adds a 12% load. There is no way in telling how it will react on your site other than testing it. :)

Oké so I am rather confused, I don't have a .htacces file to begin and can't find 1 in the original downloaded version either. Perhaps it normally is there by default from the host but I can't seem to find it. I know joomla and other CMS had it in install folder but I had to delete it and it just works then(without iirf.ini).
So I have to create like a file from scratch then right and without that file it wont work?
Also my question regarding what happens if my server stays on php 5.3 hasn't been answered yet(some mods have problems with 5.4)

Sorry, I don't understand this question. Can you please re-phrase it?
Fillip
My host doesn't allow .htacces file in wwwroot, it tells me to use a iirf.ini file like discussed.
Most is almost the same as .htacces only some rewrite rules are slightly different I believe.
My question is the following:
For example the other guy on this page his this is him .htacces
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(admincp/|dbseocp/|modcp/|cron|mobiquo|forumrunner|api\.php)
RewriteRule ^((archive/)?(.*\.php(/.*)?))$ dbseo.php [L,QSA]
My website contains of many pages that start with for example competitions.php teams.php and also donate.php Do I have to add all of those in that line? Or only if I want them rewritten? So for example does mine becomes something like (except then for the codes that are used in a iirf.ini file.
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(admincp/|dbseocp/|modcp/|cron|mobiquo|forumrunner|api|teams|donate|competi tions\.php)
RewriteRule ^((archive/)?(.*\.php(/.*)?))$ dbseo.php [L,QSA]

No, you would NOT change the code at all because of those other files. As for changing it to be compatible with iirf, I wouldn't know.

I installed this on vb4.2.2 PL1 and have a couple minor errors that appear. I think they're showing up from not setting up the .htaccess part correctly. However, I would like to find someone that knows this mod very well and that can help with adjusting settings for it on my site.
Send me a PM if you can help a brother out.

Thanks for the great plugin.
for those who use Nginx, you can use these rules as substitute for hack .htaccess:
if ($uri !~ "(admincp/|dbseocp/|modcp/|cron|mobiquo|forumrunner|api.php)"){
set $rule_0 1$rule_0;
}
if ($rule_0 = "1"){
rewrite ^/((archive/)?(.*.php(/.*)?))$ /dbseo.php last;
}
if (!-f $request_filename){
set $rule_1 1$rule_1;
}
if (!-d $request_filename){
set $rule_1 2$rule_1;
}
if ($request_filename !~ "/(admincp|dbseocp|modcp|clientscript|cpstyles|image s)/"){
set $rule_1 3$rule_1;
}
if ($rule_1 = "321"){
rewrite ^/(.+)$ /dbseo.php last;

After installing this mod I ran into trouble on my board. With no plugins installed accept this one, when attempting to use the "Reply to Thread" in any of the forums, the board freezes into a searching mode. If I then select the Refresh on the Browser it will complete as it should. We tried going through the settings making changes with no luck.
I searched this thread and there doesn't seem to be anyone else that has yet had this issue. Any ideas?

Maybe issues with vbSEO? Then all of a sudden something happened (i have no idea what) and it's now this link: http://www.weusecoupons.com/upload/f25/

WOW. So I HIGHLY recommend DragonBYTE SEO. My site has over 3 MILLION posts....100,000 members+, we are a BIG busy board. (WeUseCoupons.com). I've run vbSEO for YEARS. Today it died a horrible death. I paid for the lifetime version of DragonBTYE SEO & installation, gave them my server and user creds....30 minutes later my site was back to life, members happy.
I can not say enough that I HIGHLY recommend this plugin for those using vbSEO. It will solve all of your issues. Thank you. Please email me if you have ANY questions about this. nathan.weusecoupons@gmail.com.

Tonight Im going to have to turn DBSEO off as it has been murdering my server for the entire month
This is strange thing.
All mods have some kind of impact, the biggest impact single mod had on my site was DBTechs Advanced Post Thanks and Like prior version 3.2.5, when they optimized it enough so I can use it again on my site.
I'm telling this as I'm using vBSEO at the moment (still), but over time I'll transfer to DBSEO. So big difference in server load means that either your server already was "on the edge" (server load isn't linear) and DBSEO just crossed it, which means you should have stronger server, or something should be better configured, or something in code optimized.
Whatever is, consult with DBTech before you turn off DBSEO, they'll help you, and probably even solve it.

(server load isn't linear) .A important fact most don't realize.

Tonight Im going to have to turn DBSEO off as it has been murdering my server for the entire month, Im getting a lot of complaints the site will not load and server emails hourly that the server load is over 15......We generally can't answer Pro support queries, but as this goes for both Lite and Pro I can answer:
Have you added an opcode cacher other than Filecache to your config.php file? If you install XCache or APC and configure vB to utilise it, DBSEO will also be able to utilise it to reduce server load.
A important fact most don't realize.In a perfect world, there would be such a thing as a standardisation table for resource consumption vs. hardware, and the server load figures would be replaced with a more comparable performance metric.
What a Single-CPU Core 2 would think is server load 15 probably would be 0.15 on our Dual-CPU Ivy Bridge server, etc.
Fillip
Alan_SP
04-10-2014, 08:28 PM
Well, they say that 1 (talking about server load as linux shows it) means 100% server load of one CPU core.
On 4 core CPU having server load of 2 would mean 50% server load for that server. 4 would mean 100% server load for that server. But, even with 6 on my 4 core server (which means 150% server load), my users probably wouldn't notice anything wrong. After 8 (200% server load) things starts to be noticeable to outside world.
Bigger problem is, what's causing this server load, is it some kind of unusual event, or something normal. If it is something normal, it's time for new server, or time to discard some of the mods if we talk about vBulletin based sites.

I ran the sitemap generator and it succeeded, but how can I confirm for sure that the search engines retrieved the sitemap(s) such as Google via the Webmaster tool?
Would appreciate clarification on this. Thanks.

seems to have something to do with our site configured to use and using memcached for the datastore...?
Switching us to filesystem for datastore seems to greatly speed things back up (from ~10-15s page response to ~1s)...?Memcache is not very good for single-server setups, I would recommend switching to XCache or APC instead.

What's wrong with the serverload using dbseo? Mine rarely ever goes above 1 percent cpu usage. And that's using a vps with vb4+dbseo, wordpress and the Odyssey of Hyrule all running on it.

Server load depends on number of users. :D
If you don't have users on your site, there's no problem, no problem at all. On the other hand, if you have actual users on your site, you'll probably soon understand question of mod's impact on server load.
And yes, you actually don't understand figures shown in image you attached. It's not 1% and it's not just CPU, but it something different.

My point is that my server is using way less resources now than it was with vbseo installed. Thanks for your opinion though.
Hi all, is there anyway to use this mod without rewrite option
I will use vb SEO url, because I don't want to change the url for now
I want to use the others features of the mod for testing
but when use it , and disable all redirect options,
it make url with some wrong.
( I have to use the normal like"forum/showthread.php?333",
not seo links from vb "forum/showthread.php?333-thread-title"), when use it , its make all links with wrong path
is that possible to use this mod without redirect url, and use vb seo links (normal links not rewrite)?

From what you actually did wrote, I couldn't get your point.
Anyway, I'm not saying that DBSEO uses more resources than vBSEO, but I just corrected what you wrote. And I really believe that DBTech would further optimize their products with time.
They managed to do that with APTL, so they would manage to do that with DBSEO.
And just to mention (again), APTL was easier on resources than vBSEO's likes system.

It's worth mentioning that when I installed dbseo lite, it handled the existing vbseo urls flawlessly, the existing link structure didn't change at all tbh.

It is possible to manually configure DBSEO to use the same URL structure as vBSEO (so long as the structure wasn't custom built), of course :)

This is really frustrating. I'm getting hiccups left and right with this mod that I never had with vbseo.
First topic (non-sticky) doesn't work, returns to home page. Any other below it work fine:
http://www.talkjesus.com/bible-study/
One that takes me to home page is:
http://www.talkjesus.com/bible-study/48434-repentance-salvation.html
THIS OCCURS IN FIREFOX, BUT NOT IN IE11. Behind me why as I did a hard refresh in FF.
Same hiccup with random threads when I click their titles in Last Post column from forum home. Some work and take me directly to that thread, some will refresh the home page.
I have already cleared the cache using both vb's tool and dbseo's maintenance > clear cache tool AND refreshed my home page prior to trying the links again.

sorry if I am referring to my question, but I am considering purchasing the full product
because the "stopwords" are not removed from the link BUT only in part of link for the "title" of the post (not categories and sections)
DragonByte Tech

If you are referring to the fact that stopwords are not removed from certain URLs when you don't use forum_id etc in the URLs, that's working as intended.

First of all, great mod! Thanks for sharing and making it so easy to use. I have a small question....
I have installed Easy Forms v4.x - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=23438
Is there any way to make rewrite rules for this mod? I'd like the URL to show the title of each form. Currently it shows like:
/forms.php?do=form&fid=1
I'd like it to show something like:
/forms.php/mitsubishi
I have no idea how to do it lol.
Thanks in advance.

Try placing your video mod rewrite rules ABOVE the DBSEO rewrite rules in htaccess.
Let me know if that works.

You've got a folder called gallery, inside a folder called gallery, and another folder called album inside that.
Just move album into the main gallery folder, then delete the second gallery folder.

Not sure if this is related to dbseo or litespeed:
Anytime a member (even me as admin) tries to view their own profile it gives off this error:
This user has not registered and therefore does not have a profile to view.
I'm logged in however.
I removed those 2 lines. However, now anytime a member (even me as admin) tries to view their own profile it gives off this error:
This user has not registered and therefore does not have a profile to view.
I'm logged in however.
EDIT / UPDATE:
I moved some stuff around and now profile works, but the 8way media is not working (clicking videos or categories takes me to the forum home page)

I installed product but site suddenly runs incredibly slow. Disable is dbseo, htaccess add the code, after start slowing down. problem is dbseo htaccsess code :(This product may not run on all servers, especially shared hosts that limit resources in a big way. You can enable Datastore caching in config.php if your server supports it to reduce the resource usage.
Anyone know how I'd stop DBTech's Gallery mod reading like this:
gallery/gallery/album/315-monster-reef-photos-easter-2014-a
Would be nicer with just one gallery instead of gallery/gallery?
Using the Pro version of the Gallery and the lite version in DBseo
You've got a folder called gallery, inside a folder called gallery, and another folder called album inside that.
Just move album into the main gallery folder, then delete the second gallery folder.That will happen because "Gallery" is the name of the review instance. It cannot be omitted.
@ issues with various media mods: We cannot guarantee compatibility with 3rd party modifications that also use .htaccess. The Pro version has the ability to add custom rewrite rules, which may be required if shifting .htaccess position does not work.

Had the same issue looked into and found if you go to:
1) Instance Management and click edit
2) Go to Short Name and rename to what you want
Yes its used to tell vB what tab you are on the 2nd gallery will be whatever you named it!
Worked for me :D

when i use ur services to install, do you apply best seo practice?The default settings work very well, there is no "best seo practice". It's all about your personal preference with URL formats :)
@server load posts: When you uninstall this mod and remove its .htaccess edits as well as uploaded files, the mod no longer runs. The increase in server load is not a result of this mod.

Also, the 33% reduction in load time was on our forum. It's very much a Your Mileage May Vary type of situation, as each server is vastly different.

that's right the question is why the server load not decrase again aftear the mod uninstalled and fully removed.
on my community the server load incrase from about 2 to about 20 or 25 after i install the DragonByte SEO so i unistall it although i very intersted by it's advantage but after i uninstall it the server load some time be 2 and suddenly incrase to be 20 or more

It is physically impossible for this mod to be the cause of an increase of server load after it has been removed from the AdminCP and the .htaccess. The mod does not run at all, it has no effect on your server or your forum.

Make sure any kind of cache you may be using is cleared.
Any chance that during the short time DBSEO was running that search engines reindexed your site getting you better rankings do to better SEO and what your are now seeing after the removal of DBSEO is residual increased traffic from both users and search engines?

What is the guarantee this mod will remain alive ? like i already wasted $150 on vBSEO and they was also like never going down..
There are no guarantees, but there is hardly any comparison between what was vbSEO and what is DragonByte Tech the makers of DBSEO.
vbSEO
A) 1 mod (2 if you count there vbSEO Sitemap mod which was an add-on)
B) Continually questionable support. They had'nt supported their product(s) on here or in their own forums for nearly 2 1/2 years (and unfortunately people were still buying the product). In the nine years they were members here they only made about 60 posts.
DragonByte Tech
A) Over 80 supported mods for vBulletin which includes mods for vB3, vB4, and vb5. They are very familiar with the code and are continually putting out updates to products weekly.
B) They have their own active support forum which the respond to questions/requests to daily. They are also active here on vbulletin.org nearly daily.
C) They've produced numerous Mods of the Month and are still continually producing new products to support all versions of vBulletin.
D) Are considered by many on here to have exceptional support for their products.

dbseo still not released stable versionThis mod has received 15 updates since it was flagged stable :)
Does it matter if you're using Litespeed?It shouldn't, though we haven't explicitly tested this mod on Litespeed.
What is the guarantee this mod will remain alive ? like i already wasted $150 on vBSEO and they was also like never going down..It's impossible for us to make any form of guarantees regarding the lifetime of the modification, unfortunately. To take it straight to 11; I could get killed in any manner of horrible ways tomorrow, leaving the rest of the team scrambling to support it :p
On a more serious note: We have no plans of discontinuing support for DBSEO. It's our top priority, and due to the nature of the mod it will remain our top priority for the foreseeable future.
I don't think you should consider the money you spent on vBSEO a waste. You got the functionality you paid for, and the security vulnerabilities vBSEO currently suffers from was not something yourself nor the vBSEO team could have foreseen.
If DragonByte Tech ever closes its doors, or anything happens that would even remotely affect our ability to do business (extended holidays, injuries/illnesses/deaths rendering one of our team members incapable of working for extended periods of time), we would send out a newsletter from our site informing our customers of this.
We would never simply disappear without a word, leaving our customers high and dry. You would always be informed to the best of our abilities, leaving you time to seek alternative solutions if you feel that this is the best course of action for your site.

A HUUUUGE thank you for this plugin. Our forums were hacked as a result of VBSEO some time ago and we were able to recover...minus user name files. We attempted to remove VBSEO but things were never the same. URL structures were not perfect and about 20-25% of posts returned not found (anything with more than one page). Installed this and all is good agin...after well over a year!
Thank you very much...

very thanks for reply , but this problems and instability occured after install and uninstall the DragonByte SEO and this happen for other members suffer from that also , we not blame but we are try to investigate the problem
It is physically impossible for this mod to be the cause of an increase of server load after it has been removed from the AdminCP and the .htaccess. The mod does not run at all, it has no effect on your server or your forum.

Updating the mod should not overwrite your settings.

sorry if I am referring to my question, but I am considering purchasing the full product
because the "stopwords" are not removed from the link BUT only in last part of link for the "title" of the post (not categories and sections)

I have a few questions...
I am not sure if I should install / buy this product or switch away from vBulletin. I am running vBulletin 4.2.2 on powerhouse NGINX server. Current PHP is 5.3.28. Our server OS is Gentoo. With 1,500 people online our server load avg is 0.38. (When we ran vbSEO our server load on the same server was avg 1.90)
I use to use vBSEO, but removed it due to a few security issues and lack of support. When we did that our traffic took about a 30% a hit.
Using vBulletin 4's Mod ReWrite URL's format traffic has slowly crawled back up.
Then about a month ago, something happened... overnight traffic was cut in half, ad revenue was cut by 60%.
I am not sure what happened... was I hit by a Panda or something?
Anyways now I am struggling to get my traffic back up to where it was and get my ad revenue back up as well.
The current state of vBulletin does not have me excited about the product. With the way vBulletin 5 is no there is no way I will move to vBulletin 5. So now I am considering switching away from vBulletin to Xenforo, but before I make that move I am looking to throw a Hail Mary and am wondering is this mod will help me or not.
Some questions...
1) For people who installed this mod or purchased the product, has it really helped your site?
2) Has it helped increase your advertising revenue
3) is NGINX supported? Does it have any issues with NGINX to be concerned about?
4) How much of a load does it put on your server?
5) Did it slow your site down at all?
6) Besides being on an NGINX server is there anything else I should know before installing / buying this product.
7) If you installed this product... and thinking about before you installed it... knowing what you know now about it would you install it again?
Thanks everyone!

I wish you include custom domain settings for forums too so that I might consider getting the Pro one. Thanks.

It was installed today by Dragonbyte on my site. My hosting provider tried to install it twice and it had to be removed. With some a little tuning and tweaking Fillip from DragonByte did, there is absolutely no performance impact at all. In fact the site is faster now. He really did an incredible job. I am extremely happy.
As far as results go, since it was installed just today I really don't know. I'm running into a little problem with Google Analytics which started showing up after I put in my analytics ID. "Access denied. Please try relaunching In-Page Analytics from the report.[Error: 20006]". Not sure what that is all about.

Bug Fixes And Issue Fixes:
Canonical URL redirection now works even if the canonical URL output is disabled
(vB4) There should no longer be duplicate "Canonical URL" insertions for threads
(vB4) Forums upgraded from vB3 would display incorrect Album / Social Group / Blog Attachments
(vB4) Certain vB versions could not build the sitemap due to autoloading issues

Running this for a few days now. Maybe it's too early to expect results but it's definitely doing something.

Hello I have one question. I have a lot of DBTech products on my forums and I wanted to know something.
If I buy the products, Can I eliminate the "Links to DragonByte Technologies homepage"?
I mean, I have like 3 links to the same web, Can I delete all but one?
Its horrible when you are in the mobile version and you see al these links...

What are the recommended settings on a fresh install?The only thing you need to change is the Sitemap settings, make sure you point the relevant setting to a writeable directory and turn on the sitemap builder, then run the initial generation :)
