When one pushes a thanks or a like button of a specific post and pushes directly after the arrow (legacy postbit) to expand the statistics of the user which post got rightly thanked / liked an error message appears:
Invalid post specified. If you followed a valid link , please notify the administrator.

Second: At the members profile-->Thanks / like tab there are more register tabs than needed, the last few just show: No results to show. :rolleyes::confused:

I had now time to compare the original thank you hack to yours.


Here are my impressions:

-Abe's hack is done in a plain fashion, is free AND offers already anything one needs such as to remove thanks and even to remove any thanks of a post by administrators at the posts directly without to have to go to the admin CP.

-It has no performance issues like yours and displays posts with 7000 thanks quickly without the need to raise php memory to 512 MB!!!.... (128 MB) is enough.
-There is actually no technical reason why since the original did that very well with 128 MByte of php memory.
-The maintenance functions of the original hack ran much faster than yours (same amount of thanks).
-The hottest threads / posts statistic page loads slowly!

-And there is no obvious reason why there should be excess pages at the thanks / likes register! Count inaccurate for performance reason? This makes no sense from a technical POV except it compensates an issue but does not really eliminate it.
Any threads themselves have accurate amount of pages and do not need more than 128 MB php memory to be displayed!

-To pay 60 bucks to have an original free feature to delete thanks is more than questionable with those performance issues.


Consider it as constructive criticism...;)

147450This is most commonly the result of CSS settings, namely the background attribute of the .postbitlegacy .postfoot .textcontrols a, .postbit .postfoot .textcontrols a, .eventbit .eventfoot .eventcontrols a { CSS class, in postbit.css.
To fix it, please try the following steps:

Step 1) Remove all the contents of the postbit_control_background StyleVar.
Step 2) If that didn't fix it, please enter the postbit.css file and find the .postbitlegacy .postfoot .textcontrols a, .postbit .postfoot .textcontrols a, .eventbit .eventfoot .eventcontrols a { CSS class, and remove the background: definition.


Putting the bar inside the signature is a Pro-only feature :)

I have a special question which could be interesting for others as well:

One has accidentally deleted a user via adminCP. The user has had ~300 posts, some of them have got thanks.
The posts are still there but assigned as guest (userid = 0, AFAIK) but the original username is still there.

A SQL query: UPDATE post SET userid='xxx' WHERE username='Old Name';

...with 'xxx' being the userid number of the new account and 'Old Name' being the user name on those posts....

...reassigned the posts to the new userID. After recount (vb maintenance) they appeared, also the thanks the others gave below the posts. Posts are search-able as well.

But by executing DBTech maintenance I was not able to assign the thanks the others gave him at his posts to the new userprofile, why? It should, shouldn't it?

I mean the thanks all the other users gave have reference to the posts (otherwise whey would not appear below there) and the posts have reference to the new userID.

Do I need to execute an additional SQL query and if yes what would be the right one?

It would be great to find a solution.

I am having this same issue. I've tried rebuilding/repairing the cache and have run other VB SQL maintenance scripts. No errors crop up during install. I've tried this on a demo site and am having this issue with both 4.2.1 and 4.2.2.

VB maintenance did it right assigning the posts to the new userprofile (post count, search index, etc...)

I have assigned all the posts of a deleted user to a new ID, thus the new user(ID) inherits all the posts and all the thanks they have got.

Should your maintenance script not recollect all the posts a user has made and their thanks they have got? The thanks are still there....MEANS belong actually to the new user.

The description:"This will recalculate how many thanks / likes / dislikes a user should have. Best ran after the above Cleanup function has been ran."

Sure, but why does DBTech maintenance not update the receiveduserid column properly?Because you need to do that yourself. This mod has no way of knowing that what used to be receiveduserid X is now receiveduserid Y.

vBulletin does not automatically assume that either, you manually updated the userid column in the post table to change X to Y.

The same has to be done with the userid and receiveduserid column in the APTL table.

After you have done so, then run the maintenance action you listed.

...sorry for the questions I am not familiar with db-tech table structure and what happens when the user has been deleted.
So userid and receiveduserid both have to get the same new ID there???
What is actually different of both, I'd think receiveduserid are those from who have thanked and should be untouched....

Thanks for your reply, but it's not that easy since the original userid no. vanished at dbtech_thanks_entry table after deletion of the user, you have programmed it that way???? ... . :)
Finally I had the chance to run several SQL SELECT queries myself to get an idea of your table. :)

To directly update (replace) the ID works only at receiveduserid column.
At the SQL UPDATE query the userid received 0 rows. (I am sure the user thanked, though)...I had tried that query already.
The original userid must have been lost already, the question is when and how...

What happens when a user has been deleted (and dbtech maintenance has been run afterwards), does it delete the db entryid? Does it change the userid? Fact is the old userid is not there anymore! Your first query is actually useless.
I also had a look at the db backup I've made right before I ran those queries and before I ran any maintenance, it seems the userid has been removed already there...

Vbulletin's post table gets userid = 0 guest BUT still has reference to the username. Also abe's table has the username column.

My original thoughts are realized at abe's mod. He does not use receiveduserid, the relation is gotten through the post table.

Any other way to get back the thanks given?

Without the original user ID it's impossible to recover the thanks.

NO it is impossible because it seems the entryids with the original userid are deleted already!

I HAVE the original id already UPDATED at receiveduserID!!!
And I have recovered the thanks received already....what is still missing are the thanks given..

Are the entryid rows with the original userid persistent or not AFTER a user has been deleted?
You suggest an UPDATE query even though the old userid containing entryid row is missing!
You can go into tech details I am familiar with the tables now, I simply have had no access myself to the vbulletin SQL database!!!

Why do you advise to UPDATE the userid column with the new ID even though the complete corresponding entryid rows get REMOVED when a user has been deleted????

You could have saved me a lot of time posting that the thanks given are lost at the moment when the user has been deleted!
The thanks received (receiveduserid column) persist (the entryid rows), though and can be recovered by updating with the new ID!

Can you change that at a further update of your mod, please?
I mean the userprofile is gone anyway, the thanks received are still left and the thanks given could be still left over at your table for recovery...a little improvement. :)

Sorted my issue by taking out the post.php edits you suggest.

Have you Configured your Usergroup settings by clicking "Manage Buttons" under
"DBTech - Post Thanks" in your AdminCP navigation menu, then
editing each button and setting your usergroup permissions from there.

Note:
You will not see the buttons on your own post!
After the Manage Buttons settings view other users/members post to see button display.

It's been patched! I re-uploaded the files and re-installed the xml and everything is working.

And, although here's still no v3.2.5 (but it will be :D), I must say that it is really much more optimized, server load is noticeable, but bearable.

Now I have 25 posts per page, with older versions I needed to lower it to 10 posts per page to "neutralize" server load, now I think that even 20 posts per page would be fine, in worse case 15 posts per page would give even some advantage (of course, compared with server load with 25 posts per page).

Just to mention, I tested vBSEO's likes, they produced even bigger server load than older versions. Didn't tested Abe's thanks hack though.

So, this version (3.2.5) is very big step forward server load wise.

Redownload the pro version and reinstall it. Then go to Rebuild Button Click Cache in the Maintenance function in admincp and run that.

It cleared it up for me. Caution- your users will be set back to 0 ...

After noticing the issues with the v3.2.5 update I opted not to release this version here on vBulletin.org until the issues had been taken care of. I feel confident enough in the stability of this version that v3.2.5 Patch Level 1 will be available here tomorrow.

Yes, Users will be set back to 0...but...If you go to Thanks/Like Maintenance and run each item everything will come back

The only other thing is the Thanks / Like in the users Profile as the new default feature of Recent Entries is 30 days. If you want some of these back go to the Thanks/Like Settings --> Scroll down to the bottom see... Recent Entries and perhaps change to 365 days or the number of day you would like...

That's my problem. I install long time ago a version of this mod 1..., so any one can click on the thanks or like button under the post, so you see the person there under the post and give him rep point.

Now i update forum to 4.2.2 and i was thinking to update the mod, this include the advanced post thanks, i came here, download the new version of this mod, install it and all post thanks and likes disappear but not the rep points. Is like this new version clear the old ones and everything starts from zero, only rep point are ok.

Was just about to ask the exact same question as the poster above. Having just converted from vBSEO, I'd love to see that more compact style as an option with this mod.As this mod is much more featured than vBSEO's Like system, replicating the exact style cannot be done at this time.

We do intend to support a more compact, vB5-like style in the future :)

In the postbit where the drop down menu is located, (vb 4.2.1) where is the file located, that would allow me to edit the default title of the menu (currently Post Thanks / Like?) to "Post Like?" I found $vbphrase and was able to edit it.

I'm guessing you used .noconflict in case of an issue, but when I need to use jQuery it means I have a non standard setup.

If installed correctly, then you should now be having no problems, and did you follow the Readme file right
1. Upload all files from the "upload" folder to your forums directory.

2. CHMOD the following folders to 0777
/dbtech/thanks/vbactivity_type

3. Import the product-dbtech_thanks.xml file from the "XML" folder at AdminCP ->
Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Add/Import Product

Yes, under "Manage Buttons" then "Edit" you will see these options:
