The mod was working fine in my forum.
Now I click in any of the buttons and nothing happens.
But when I refresh the page I can see that I have given like or thanks.

I haven't made any changes or updates recentlyPlease check Firefox' error console for any JS errors :)

However, clicking on the Likes URL takes them to their activity tab, not the thanks tab. The URL coded is wrong:

I going to guess :) The files are not in the correct area and / or it's server issue.
I will lean towards server issue and that error does not seem to have anything to do with this mod. Check with your Host. :)

From my experience, you just upload old files, import old version and that's it. But, there could be problems with DB structure, if it is changed. This is a question I couldn't answer.

In past I successfully downgraded APTL, after I saw some things that I didn't liked, but now I don't remember which version were in question.

Best course of action would be to make backup of files and DB, then try to downgrade, check if everything works, if not, restore, if works, great. :up:

Thanks for the response. We figured out the problem. It was all due to hybrid mode. The mod isn't visible in hybrid, and I just didn't realize that or I would have thought to ask them. Mystery solved.

I don't see that in the listed info here, so you might want to make note of it. Many of my members prefer hybrid mode, but they can easily switch back and forth to "like" or "thank" posts.

ThanksThere's nothing in this mod preventing it from working in closed threads, you may have a mod conflict. You may want to try disabling all other products.

Yeah it appears hat vb optimise interferes with this plugin. I disabled vb optimise and it works fine.

Please note that file edits are not supported and you may be asked to restore the original files if something goes wrong.

Additionally, removing the target="_blank" decreases the user friendliness of the feature as it means people will have to click the Back button and find the post again when they want to go back to the thread - it's not advised to remove this code for this reason.

I removed target="_blank" or changed it to target="_top" but it still behaves the same. I don't know if it because of template caching but I cleared caches. I have the newest paid Pro version if it matters. Sorry, it is easier to post here than on your forum.

I have around 500 not found errors in my webmaster tools full of these vbb/post_thanks.php?do=findthanks&u=3168 from various member profiles. I did previously have Abes post thank you hack installed until I installed yours last year.

You can look at the way the code in the /dbtech/thanks/contenttypes files work - if you call the /dbtech/thanks/contenttypes/post/save.php file manually in the helpfulanswers.php file and set the required $_POST variables you should be able to get it working :)

If there's any code examples that you might know of floating around that might help in this circumstance that would great; I appreciate the tips.

If it would be easier to call the other plug-in from the Thank You plug-in I could do that too, although I imagine it would be the same process more or less to implement?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'call the /dbtech/thanks/contenttypes/post/save.php' manually and set the required $_POST variables. If there's any code examples that you might know of floating around that might help in this circumstance that would great; I appreciate the tips.

If it would be easier to call the other plug-in from the Thank You plug-in I could do that too, although I imagine it would be the same process more or less to implement?There's no simple API available for this mod so hands would have to get dirty I'm afraid :(

i believe what the db team is doing is this if you get the lifetime for vb 4.x.xx

when you migrate to vb 5.x.x they will discount this for 5

What LLent said is accurate, you'll have to pay a small upgrade fee to upgrade your licence to the vB5 version.

We currently offer 2 licence upgrades from vB4; Dual Licence and Replacement Licence. The Dual Licence, as the name implies, lets you run the mod on both vB4 and vB5. Replacement Licence replaces the vB4 licence with a vB5 licence.

Replacement Licences are 25% of the cost of a new licence, whereas Dual is 50%.

Delete the dislike one then run maintenance then readd the dislike again

Or login to your hosting cpanel and remove it there

Or give the group this guy belongs to the option to untick dislike

This is most commonly the result of CSS settings, namely the background attribute of the .postbitlegacy .postfoot .textcontrols a, .postbit .postfoot .textcontrols a, .eventbit .eventfoot .eventcontrols a { CSS class, in postbit.css.
To fix it, please try the following steps:

Step 1) Remove all the contents of the postbit_control_background StyleVar.
Step 2) If that didn't fix it, please enter the postbit.css file and find the .postbitlegacy .postfoot .textcontrols a, .postbit .postfoot .textcontrols a, .eventbit .eventfoot .eventcontrols a { CSS class, and remove the background: definition.

Additionally, they won't display for your own posts. You should also check your button configuration to ensure the permissions are accurate.

I'd like to point out a major security flaw in this. If you have sections on your forum that are hidden from other users and you are tagged/mentioned/quoted/post liked in it everyone will be able to see the title of the thread.

For example:

User 1 is VIP
User 2 is not

There is a thread by the name of "Thread Title" in a VIP section that user 1 posts. If another user that is VIP likes that post, user 2 will be able to go to their profile and see the title of that thread in the likes section.

This may not be a big deal for some people but on my forum this makes the mod completely unusable. I can't just remove the sections from the profile either because we use the like/dislike feature for rep too and we wouldn't be able to see if people are mass repping each other.

DragoByte Tech- If you could work out a way to prevent users from seeing thread titles that isn't in their allowed sections I'd really appreciate it.

I've used the mod for awhile on vb4 I must have just forgotten to click installed, I've done it now. I'm going to PM you a pdf file that one of my members made with some more information regarding it because my forum doesn't show the "-=Hidden Content=-" message.

I apologize for seeming as it is a big security issue because on my forum it is and I wasn't under the impression that it usually says "-=Hidden Content=-".

If this does not occur on your forum, then please double-check that you have set either Can View Forum or Can View Thread Content to No for all user groups the member in question is a member of.

Ah okay the issue must be with the Can View Thread Content. I have it so that users can post to the higher up sections and only be able to see their own threads. So Can View Thread Content is enabled however Can View Other's Thread Content is not.

Hmm, I'll need to find a way so that users can still post to the sections while still keeping the rest hidden from them.

If you know of a solution that'd be great if not I'll need to figure out something.

When I removed these lines it all went back to normal. No hidden content is displayed (at least I couldn't find any - I tested it on a few accounts with different permissions and with two separate browsers).

I'm not sure when the original problem actually appeared (I don't remember ever having it), but the one that this "fix" causes is much worse, IMO.

It appears as if you may have uploaded the files incorrectly. Please drag and drop the contents of the upload folder (use Ctrl+A to select all files) to your public_html folder. :)

Thanks. I was able to import the product with no errors. I saw in some earlier posts that the like button wasn't working. I'll scan through them again and see what I need to do to fix that.

Make sure your user is set to superadministrator in the includes/config.php file.

When you say upload them to my site, do I open the upload directory and move the files and directories to the public_html on my server? Is it that simple or is there more involved?
Again, I am some what of a novice. I have installed other mods to my site and they were rather easy by comparison.

If you thank/like a post, the postbit dropdown doesn't work anymore. Looks like there is some javascript missing or something went wrong during the AJAX request. After refreshing the page it works again.

Thanks.Button Management under the DBTech - Thanks AdminCP menu lets you edit the permissions for each button - you may have forgotten to tick the Can Click box for the Like button :)

I like this feature, but I don't like how it's formatted. It should be more integrated with the postbit instead of looking like another post that comes after one you're thank/liking.

The buttons should be part of the postfoot. The "who clicked buttons" should be in the after_content.

Any way to do that?

This is not working for me on 4.2.2 Alpha 1, checked all the permissions, the Like and Dislikes show up under the post however when you click on it, nothing happens. I reimported the xml couple of time with the same results.

I use WinSCP, and after reloading the files again, still not working. not sure what to tell you. This is not my first rodeo at adding hacks to vb.

Not sure this will be helpful in your situation.

I use a local test board, when I have problems like this. Having the server local allows me to see what the server response was to the client submit. I then add a php backtrace to the source script on the offending submit -- until I find where the application went wrong.

Check Dragonbyte's support site. You may find other users that have a similar problem.
Try not to run alpha software in a production environment.

If you do have a local server environment let me know and we can easily find out what is going on.

So looks like the the whole thing is tossed in the signature (after_content) area. I was thinking the buttons should be in the actual postfoot, like next to the "report post" icon (in the same line). Only the "who clicked buttons" would be in the signature area, and it should be collapsable.

Anyway to get around the timeout?Short of manually doing all the installation steps, you may wish to edit your PHP configuration to allow scripts to override the timeout - that way, you can leave it running until it finishes :)

ThanksEnable "Can Require Click" for your usergroup, and edit the post in question using the Go Advanced form to "Require Thanks to see content" :)

Do you still not need to put the text inside the hide bb code but doing what you say here only works if you put it inside the bb code first and only if you have added it to your Custom BB Codes. Or am I wrong and you have another way it auto goes in?

As usual soon after I posted I managed to get logged in and the site looks fine now. But I was there about 7 hours ago and an hour ago and both times there was no css. I used Chrome and Opera Next on a brand new computer that had never visited the site before. Oh well.

I run a big forum (5m+ posts) and was having horrendous locking issues with the vb_post table recently. I eventually figured out that the problem was in the joins it was doing with vb_dbtech_thanks_entry (possibly on threads with thousands of posts).

I haven't updated this plugin in maybe a year - has there been any database efficiency changes in the mean time to warrant me doing an upgrade now? (I don't want to lose previous likes if there is no changes, and I've made quite a few changes to customize the look and feel).

Can you please verify in the "View PHP Info" page in the AdminCP that the display_errors is set to On?

If not, please contact your host to change your PHP configuration if you don't have access to it otherwise.

We got it fixed.
You need to add:

ini_set('memory_limit', '512M');

To PHP config.

Your plugin needs tweaking it eats a lot of memory, lol. :D
