NEARLY 300 SUPPORTED SITES FOR VIDEOS, AUDIO, GAMES AND MORE!

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2008/11/36.png

This is the most current repository of definitions for DJ's AME :: The Ultimate Automatic Media Embedder (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=303416). These media definitions will expand your AME to support embedding from hundreds of websites. More videos. More than videos. These definitions will let you embed content from sites that include games, widgets, music players and so much more.

This repository was seeded by contributions from the vBulletin community over several years, but are curated here for easy access. Special thanks to Hotwheels and Danyloski for starting the tradition.

NEWS
DJ's AME 2.5.7 is out! What are you waitin' fer?!

#CCCCCC
IMPORT
DEFINITIONS ARE NOT INSTALLED They're imported through your AME CP. Which means you have to have AME installed first. You DO NOT import definitions through your Product Manager. I mean, you can try. But I'll make fun of you.

The READ ME file explains in more detail. Please don't skip it. I named it in big letters and everything.

VERSION INFO
These definitions are for AME 2.5.

A BETA set of definitions for AME 3 can be found here.

LIVE DEMO (http://www.cogonline.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=858)
This is my development area with a lot of test thread. As such, it's not a comprehensive list of all working definitions. You can find that below...

#CCCCCC
MEDIA DEFINITIONS LIST
The full list of definitions is available in the second post of this thread. Requests for new definitions should be made here (http://www.cogonline.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=880) (no registration required), rather than in this thread. It makes it easier for me to keep track and to prioritize. Please do not use this area to contact me. The password is: LetMeIn#33

SUPPORT
I can't stress this enough. I NEED LINKS in order to troubleshoot problems. Links to the video. Links to the thread. I can't do anything without knowing what videos are causing the problem. If all you do is post that a particular site is not working and provide me with nothing to look at, well, how can I fix it? Following this simple guideline will save us both a lot of time and effort. (And check the FAQ on the first page. I worked really hard on that one. :erm: )

Please note that I do new definition requests in the order they were received and as timely as I can.

DJ's DEFINITIONS FAQ
Here's a few Q&As, FAQs and FYIs about some of definitions available and some tips and tricks with regard to the AME modification itself. When referring to editing definitions, it will be assumed you're in your Admin CP ? AME CP ? Display Definitions list.

**Internal Linking
This set of definitions is available here, but not in the main post. The reason why is it's buggy. It works, but with conditions that might put you off of it.

This set is designed to auto convert links from your vB 3.x website. It includes a definition for threads, single posts, forums/categories and user profiles. Links to these page will convert to a formatted link with the name of that page, and the noembed.png image to it's left.

The problem doesn't occur during posting, which worked for me %100 of the time on two separate installations. The problem occurs if you try to edit. If two of the same kind of links share a paragraph, then the rest of the paragraph gets stripped out when you hit the edit button. I don't know why, and I've tested for a couple of years now off and on with different regexs to try and root out the problem. Since I can't seem to work it out, I decided to let anyone who wants to tinker with them try them out. Note that the issue only occurs when two of the same kind of link share a paragraph.

146921

AllPosters.com (Thumbnails) et.al.: This set will convert almost all product links form AllPosters.com into thumbnails like the Amazon and CafePress definitions. There's very few products that will not convert, and these appear to be only frames, or anything that's been framed.

Also note that you can use your own affiliate ID with AllPosters if you have one just by replacing the three instances of mine in the Replacement HTML. But if you want to leave them in there, you won't get ANY complaints from me.

Examples: ?aid=1244576320 | ?aid=F0048675431

Amazon.com (Thumbnails) and (Links): The original Thumbnail version of the Amazon Links was created by nevetS (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=85226) in one of the old XML threads and it was the first definitions created to demonstrate turning product links into thumbnails rather then links.

Note that I have also included my affiliate IDs in these definitions, mainly because these are constructed on my live site. To work in your own affiliate ID in either the Links or Thumbnails definitions, look for the instances of the ?tag= in theReplacement HTMLand replace the following IDs with your own. Or, again, you can leave them in. Won't hurt my feelings.

Examples: ?tag=stopmomstop-20 | ?tag=citofgamonlco-20

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=143633&d=1359955923

As noted above, you don't want Thumbnails and Links turned on at the same time, which is why I have them both in the Master XML, but one of them set to off.

eSnips.com (Videos) (Music): Unfortunately, you will only be able to use one or the other of these definitions, which is why eSnips (Music) is turned off by default. The URLs were not distinctive enough to make a RegEx that could tell video pages from music pages. Until this changes, this is the one caveat you'll have to contend with.

Google.com (Search Results) (Let Me Google That For You): These definitions convert your Google search results links into formatted links in a couple of ways. Note that they cannot be both turned on at the same time, which is why (Search Results) is the only one active when you import them.

(Search Results) converts your search results links in simple link with the search terms and the google icon.

Examples: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2008/11/66.jpgGoogle: Star+Wars (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=HPIA,HPIA:2006-32,HPIA:en&q=star+wars) | https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2008/11/66.jpgGoogle: Scooby+Doo (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&rls=HPIA%2CHPIA%3A2006-32%2CHPIA%3Aen&q=Scooby+Doo)

(Let Me Google That For You) on the other hand, will convert links into a funny redirect to LetMeGoogleThatForYou.com. This definition is a variation on the one (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=199374&highlight=let+me+google+that+for+you) originally created by Vitaly.

Let me google that for you... (http://www.letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=Star+Wars)

For Google (Search Results) to work, you'll need to add these images to your images/misc directory. This first is the old Google favicon and the second is the new one. The definition uses the new icon by default, but you can change the definition to the old one just by changing the Replacement HTML image source from _new to _old.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=91863&d=1231280056 https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2008/11/66.jpg

MP3 Local Hosted Audio: I hope you like the new player I added. Unfortunately, I can't take all the credit. The player was created under the Creative Commons Licence by neolao production (http://www.neolao.com/). The great thing about this player is that it's fully customizable, and can even support it's own skin if you happen to have one. Go to http://flash-mp3-player.net/players/maxi/generator/ and set the colors and settings to your liking. Copy and paste over the code into your MP3 definition under Replacement HTML. Just remember that you MUST replace the MP3 URL (http%3A//flash-mp3-player.net/medias/another_world.mp3) that they provide with $p1. Otherwise, your MP3s won't work.

Alternatively, you can download the flash player and host it on your own site, but you'll need to change the source of the video player in your Replacement HTML to the location on your server.

NewsClipper.org: This is one of those definitions that I consider "imperfect" in that it's functional in every way it needs to be, but not as fully as you would like it to be. Newsclipper.org (http://www.newsclipper.org/) is a website that manages to collect news videos from all the major video news sites: MSNBC, CNN, CBS NEWS, FOX NEWS, Associated Press, Rutgers, BBC, Sky News, ESPN and Comedy Central. But because all their videos are pulled from different sites, every video has different aspect ratios. There's currently no way to dynamically set the height and width of a video using AME (or in this case, an iFrame). So you'll have to set those attributes to your liking in your AME CP. I currently have them set to the widest and highest of the videos I found. This will leave a white square around videos that have smaller aspect ratios. (Not a big deal if your postbit color is already white.) You can change the color of this area by adding the color code in the style attribute: style="background-color:#000000;". But this will only works in FireFox. IE users will still see a white empty area surrounding the video.

UOL.com.br: Yes, that many files was needed to make UOL work. Each category is like it's own website with it's own embed source code. The site is vast, and is essentially several websites grouped under one domain. As noted, the one peculiarity is that URLs with "assistr" in them wont embed. This is because, for whatever reason, these pages have no usable code in the HTML or URL to backreference. Not sure why. It could be this page is actually a front page that changes content often, so most of the content is handled via javascript. Either way, these URLs are infrequent, and shouldn't be encountered too often.

Sort Order: One thing I've been annoyed with in AME is trying to get some kind of display order that makes sense. I found out while working on these, that entries with the same Display Number sort by alphabetically order. So what I ended up doing was setting all my working files to 1, and all my non working or in-progress files to 0. This made to where I could keep them in alphabetical order and create pseudo-categories.

Special Characters: For some reason, AME doesn't always convert Special Characters correctly. Instead of an ampersand (&) you'll get the HTML equivalent (&), etc. One of the things you can do is edit the post after posting, and simply change the name of the link, without altering what it links to. (In the Full Editor, all you would do is edit the exiting name. In the Basic Editors, you would simply change the name between the tags.)

Wikipedia (Links): In order for Wikipedia to work you need to save this image to your images/misc directory. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2008/11/66.jpg
Examples: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2008/11/66.jpgStar_Wars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars)
Keep in mind that Wikipedia is a beta, meaning that it really only works for English entries. International Wikipedias didn't have the consistency in the HTML code needed to make this work for all of them.

YouTube.com: Periodically YouTube goes down for maintenance. This means that some features, like embedding, is disabled during this time period. If you see "Video Not Available" and YouTube was working yesterday, hang on for a little while. Also, check to see if a video says "Embedding Disabled by Request "in the embed code box. If so, the video will be blocked from embedding and will give the Not Available message as well.

A new feature worked into YouTube is called Deep Linking. Sounds like something you'd get from the back end of the video store, right? Not in this case. Deep linking is YouTube's relatively new ability to jump to a fixed time frame inside a video. In order to do this, append the URL of your YouTube video with ?t=XXs where XX is the number of seconds into the video you want to jump. (NOTE: I know some of you already know of this, but what's different here is that you cannot use minutes and seconds in the URL. You have to use seconds only, so you'll have to do just a little head math and convert minutes into seconds.)

For example, click http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuQRmtBq-ls#t=120s (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuQRmtBq-ls#t=120s) and playback will begin exactly 120 seconds or 2 minutes into the video.

zSHARE.net, et al: For badges to work, you'll need to add all the following images to the images/misc directory for your forum and/or any different styles you use. So, for example, if you have a forum that uses the default style and a custom skin named Centura, you would need to add it to the default image/misc folder (yoursite.com/images/misc) AND into the folder for the Centura style (yoursite.com/centura/misc).

If you mean for locally hosted videos, then yes. But you need the appropriate definitions.

Go to my profile page and click on the link for my other XML thread called (Third Times the Charm) and you can get the definitions for Local Hosted Videos. I will be adding them to this thread to, once I get the size variables added, but you can still use the other ones on any version of AME. Be sure to follow the instructions for Local Hosted Videos as described in the thread.

I think I'm either missing something or being really REALLY stupid.

I can't get it to import all the defs. After importing the master file and making no changes to what's enabled etc I still only end up with 25 defs showing as active, including the original five included with The Geek's hack. :(

What am I doing wrong?

Digital Jedi
11-11-2008, 03:07 PM
I'm not sure why it would do that, but it shouldn't be letting you import anything if you have the default definitions still installed. Try deleting all your definitions and doing a full import afterwards.

Just given it a whirl and it's just imported 20 now. I've even tried uninstalling The Geek's hack and re-installing it. But get the same result. :(

It shouldn't, but it's worth a try to cover your bases.

Just a thought, but check with your host to see there's any reason they would put a limitation on file imports. I don't know of anything of hand that would do that, and the XML isn't particularly a large file, but you never know.

Hey DJ, are these the same definitions from the "Third Times a Charm" or should I switch over to these. I'm using AME 2.5.
The only difference is that these are using the size variables for 2.5. You can now use the AME global size settings for 98% of them, except of course the ones' that don't need them or can't be resized for other reasons. (The small list in post 2.)

As I mentioned, these use AME 2.5's global height and width variables. They're smaller because your using the default size setting in the AME CP for posts. You can now set the height and width of all your videos globally per region (posts, blog posts, profile comments, signatures)

My fault, I titled this thread so early in the morning, I mistakenly said these where for 2.0. These are for 2.5. If your not using AME 2.5, you don't need these definitions and the older one will work fine. I'll be keeping both version updated simultaneously.

Then ill wait for 2.5 to go gold and get this definitions :)

Due to unusual instance of a % symbol in some Daily Motion links, a slight tweak to the definition is required. Please delete your old Daily Motion definition and import this new one. The Master XML 2 was also updated.

Any idea why all the videos i post comes out very small?
Wasnt like this before i imported this definitions.

i have the same problem, i think that's wrong coding (not sure if that's ame or DJ).

this is an example for AOL
source of definition
<object height="$ameinfo[height]" width="$ameinfo[width]">

source of generated page
<object height=" height="480"" width=" width="640"">

so problem solves if i use
<object height="480" width="640">
or
<object $ameinfo[height] $ameinfo[width]>

I don't think you've updated your BETA version of AME. $ameinfo["size"] is only supposed to parse the digits, not the full size element, since not every site is going to use the same format.

Suggestion

1. Upgrade ame 2.5 RC 1
2. Display Definitions-> All Delete
3. Import Definitions
4. Browse
5. Select DJ's Master XML 2.xml
6. Import
7. Import
Completed
Thanks, unfortunately no change :(

It shouldn't, but it's worth a try to cover your bases.

Just a thought, but check with your host to see there's any reason they would put a limitation on file imports. I don't know of anything of hand that would do that, and the XML isn't particularly a large file, but you never know.
Gave it a go, but no difference.

I've also just tried splitting the .xml down so that it was in batches of 20 defs, with <AME></AME> at start and finshed as required.

But this time it only imported 17 of the first 20.

I'll contact my host just incase there is something set their end to cause this issue. But I'm stumped now lol.

Thanks though.

If i used the old version would i just override with this new one? it wouldn't cause video conflict right ? can u give more detail on how to upgrade? if we were using the old version.

You would just delete the old versions and import this one.

There's no reason it shouldn't unless they made changes to how that is controlled. I'll give it a look and get back to you.

Anyone know if I have to do something special to make those play?

That is the purpose of the upgrade: size control per reigon. You need to set the desired size for posts in the AME CP. It's currently set to default.

Well, there's the problem. MySpace is no longer using an iFrame to display it's video content, it's using actual embed code now. So that will need to be updated by me.

I got the ame 2.5 RC 1 to work fine on my vb Version 3.8.0 Beta 1 board. Just a few minor issues like the caching folder error and a bug with vbspell (var mispstr = ""; var misps = Array();; ).

However when I tried to import this addon I get this error:

Can not save Import because of the following error(s):
Duplicate keys found

Anyone know a way around this?

Nice mod by the way.

Keys where added to 2.5 to prevent you from importing duplicate definitions for the same site. This Add-On has all the sites that already come default with AME, so you'd need to delete your default definitions first in order to get a successful import and no matching keys.

Great. That worked!
I noticed that some videos from youtube that had alredy been on my site via the tag mod took about a minute to show after I installed this mod.

Also it was the same case with the video directory mod. When I clicked the thumbnai to view a video it would take forever for the video to show. So I went into the AME control panel and clicked Save under settings without changing anythign and the videos began to show quickly again for a short while then the same problem started again.

I'm not sure what causes this but it can be the cache feature.

Also the vbspell error seems to be cause by AME header code. What do you think?

I had vBSpell installed at one time along with AME and didn't have any conflict. But I removed it awhile back when there was an IE error. I haven't installed it since it was last updated, but I'm not sure what would cause that. Is your vBSpell the most current?

YouTube embeds are susceptible to slow load times, and is often, though not always, a problem on YouTube's end.

We've got one for .swf, but we don't currently have one for .flv. I'll be looking into .flv during my next run through of requests. If you want the .swf you need to download the Local Hosted Videos ZIP file in my other thread in the 3.6 section. I haven't yet made a Local Hosted set for the new resizable AME, but those will work just fine.

That may be just be a quirk when posting. You said tried disabling vBSpell to see if that was causing your other error, right? See if the same thing happens when posting a new thread and vBSpell is off.

You both needed to delete your existing definitions before importing a new Master XML. Your getting duplicate videos becasue you imported two copies of the same definition.

No need to import them all. As I explain in the first post, the Master XML is for those just starting out who want all the sites at once, and the Main ZIP is for those who want to pick and choose. The Local Hosted is for just that, videos hosted locally on your server/site.

Oh you mean in my other thread? For one, I don't want to remove any screenshots to make room for the additional three files I'll be adding here. For another, if some people are still using an older version of AME, then these definitions won't work for them. And since AME updated to 3.7, it made sense to have a thread in the 3.7 forum. Plus, I think it's confusing enough as it is.

However, I did send an update in that thread about the day I started this thread.

As a general rule, I don't set the music players to wrap. It's just something I do, and it also demonstrates to users what the wrap feature is. Also, there are some definitions that you can only use one or the other, not both. So have one turned off so you don't get conflicts until you decide to choose which. These definitions are noted in the list in the first post.

Edit: I have just noticed that you have also asked the same question in DJ' s 3.6 version thread. This is not a good manner. And it is easy to see that DJ adresses each support request very quickly. There is no need to multipost. Post your question once and wait at least one whole day before you post somewhere else or bump the thread.

Keys where added to 2.5 to prevent you from importing duplicate definitions for the same site. This Add-On has all the sites that already come default with AME, so you'd need to delete your default definitions first in order to get a successful import and no matching keys. This hint should be added to the main plugin page. :)

EDIT: Game Trailers doesn't work. I'll look why. Seemed to be AME cache issue. I reactivated cache and it works. Now only the size doesn't work, but that belongs to AME itself. Thanks for this plugin!

EDIT #2: The best size for gametrailers <embed> tag is 480x409 (widthxheight). With default settings by your definition it gets resized which looks crap (the width is okay but not the height). Regarding resizing media see also this post at AME main product (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1675141&postcount=664).

The Google definition is for Google Videos only, so it won't convert videos Google has dragged in or harvested from another video site, like say YouTube or MetaCafe. You would have to use the actually YouTube or MetaCafe link for that.

This hint should be added to the main plugin page. :)

It is, actually, part of the 2.5 new features list

2.5 is a pretty major upgrade from the 2.0 series and adds the following functionality to 2.0:
New in Beta 3 - Validation ability. This will help prevent media being embedded that can not be embedded (i.e. youtube videos that the author has stipulated can not be shown off of youtube). This option requires the extraction option to be turned on and a valid validation regexp. I have included one in the default youtube version. When a video on you tube gets embedded, but the author doesnt allow embedding, a link (with icon) is shown instead.

Due to unusual instance of a % symbol in some Daily Motion links, a slight tweak to the definition is required. Please delete your old Daily Motion definition and import this new one. The Master XML 2 was also updated.
It's still not embedding Daily motion videos for me.

I dont think its suppose to do this, but when you click on that Amazon Thumbnail, it takes you to a page saying:

No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator

I figured it would make the image larger or just redirect me to the page they got it from.

For those having the linking problem with Amazon (Thumbnails), I have a temporary fix for you until the variable problem in AME can be pinpointed. It will not convert titles properly and will just read Amazon (Thumbnails) or whatever you've named it in the AME CP, but it will properly convert your URLs.

NOTE: If you need to add your own affiliate ID tag you must go in and change each instance of ?tag=citofgamonlco-20 to your own affiliate ID. There are three. If not, you won't hurt my feelings leaving it in. ;)

Oh, remember to delete your old one.

boandmichele

it worked for me.... almost ;)

it worked in the sense that it made a link properly, like this: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPod-classic-Black-Generation/dp/B001F7AHXM?tag=thefullmailbox-20

but... if i went to say, the first page of slickdeals.net, and got this link from them:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00160HTUW/ref=ord_cart_shr?tag=slickdeals&_encoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance

if i posted that link on my site, it would convert to:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg?tag=thefullmailbox-20

which takes me to the main page of amazon, having removed the asin number.

i'm keeping this definition active for now, but any ideas on that will be appreciated.

(and yes, i realize it says 'temp fix', im just trying to troubleshoot)

thanks for the rapid reply and fix DJ :D

Hi guys, just a little status update for you. Looking through my PMs, it looks like I've let a lot of requests fall by the wayside. This is because support for this thread, my other threads and my other web work is continually getting more demanding.

Over the course of this week, I'm going to be going through my PMs thoroughly to make sure I address any questions I may have overlooked. As a result of this, I'm going to ask that any future requests, questions or comments be made through my two respective threads, unless we're dealing with some private information. As it stands, I've just let things get out of hand, and I find I'm forgetting PMs much more easily then I used to. The linear nature of a thread, though, is much harder to ignore or forget, and way easier to search.

This will make it easier for me to keep track of things, and I'll be able to put things on a rough, but clearer schedule then I had before. In short, this will make support better. I appreciate your patience and will get back to you soon.

I've not gotten to do a real good test of 2.5, but I've seen it on a few live sites. There appears to be a few small bugs with some definitions. But I haven't yet determined if that the definitions interaction with 2.5 or 2.5 itself. It's up to you really, if you want the resizing option and some of the new features.

Digital Jedi: wouldn't be easier and less time consuming for you to stick to only one version (usually latest) ? I mean, it must be a killer job to go back to 2.x then 2.5 and so on. I think we could manage to love one version only, one big definition file, easier to track bugs... Just my 50 cents :)

I thought this was fixed in RC1, but what you can try to do is go into the definition for IGN and see if there are any single quotes. Escape each single quote by adding a backslash in front of each one, like so: \'

I've not had a chance to check to be sure, but that's likely the problem.

Easier for me, maybe. But it would leave a lot of users out in the cold. While the old definitions will work on RC1, these definitions will not display properly on anything but RC1. And the whole point of doing definitions for RC1 is so you can use RC1's new area controls. But if I drop the old defs for the BETA version's defs, I'll be leaving a lot of folks out in the cold who aren't ready to use the new version yet, or who've been receiving errors with them.

The hardest part is over now that I've gone through the main list. The only thing I need to do now is when I make a set of definitions, to import the new set to my demo board and export them again with the $ameinfo variables instead of the usual height and width parameters. An extra step, but not an egregious one.

does this allow you to upload .avi files or .mov files on forum for other to see

Digital Jedi
12-11-2008, 11:11 AM
This, by it self does nothing, per se. First you need AME (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=189267). Then to expand what AME can do (which is how it was designed) you need these media definitions.

But AME is not an uploader, it's an embeder. So if you've uploaded .MOV files to your server, you can use the QuickTime definitions in my other thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=175378) (I'll be adding one to this thread sometime this week) to embed them in posts.

The key system is to prevent you from importing definitions you already have, which often happens when users first import this set. You probably haven't deleted the default definitions that come with AME yet.

Wonderful work on these definitions and organizing them so nicely.

I know there has been an issue with Daily Motion not working before in this thread, but I tried importing the updated definition and my links still do not pull the video.

It looks like ti calls the container, just nothing from the Daily Motion comes in. Not a big deal, but is this a known issue still or is there another fix I'm not aware of?

I think you really can remove this Deezer from this xml file, .. their audio embedding is a joke, they only play the first 10 seconds of a song...

And this BooMP3 ... lol ... seems they don't have any audiofiles uploaded, very strange site ...

I mean, 160+ supported sites sounds great, but would be nice if the sites in this xml has been tested before, just to increase the quality and the usefulness of the xml :)

I don't add a definition without testing it personally first. That's why post 2 has so many notations about the limitations of different sites.

For Deezer, make sure your not actually embedding 10 second preview clips. Test these songs, as they're playing completely for me:

http://www.deezer.com/track/71789
http://www.deezer.com/track/546343

For BooMp3, they have thousands of songs listed in dozens of languages. I remember because I struggled with them for months trying find a way to get the RegEx to match Cyrillic, Japanese and Chinese foreign language characters. They're media player is just down for the moment, probably due to maintenance.

Remember, media sites are the most fluid of any sites out there. I can make a definition for a site today, and tomorrow they can completely changed their URL structure, their embed code or their domain name. YouTube goes down almost weekly for maintenance, and their embed code stops working during that time. EA Sports World changed their embed code the day after I first released it. Daily Motion keeps finding new characters to put in their URLs, so the RegEx frequently has to be updated to match.

That fluidity, means things aren't always going to be working quite right at a given moment, but the installed users here do a pretty job of keeping me up to date on that. A whole lot of the time, though, we're just looking at user error, regional viewing issues or a site that's just doing some work in the meantime.

Okay, this is probably my fault. When I started this thread I inadvertently stated these defs were for 2.0+. That was a mistake and I thought I had removed all references to 2.0, but it looks like I left one towards the top. These definitions will only work with 2.5, which is why neither of you are getting any Height and Width attributes, because the size variables are just being stripped out. You will need to use the Third Times the Charm version of my definitions. Don't worry, I support both.

My mistake and I apologize for any confusion. I'm going to make sure all references to 2.0 are removed this time. You can simply delete all these existing definitions and then import the Master XML from my old thread.

By the next update, I should have something. There's another project that's kind of in limbo right now. I get the invalid PDF error very now and again too. PDFMENOT has trouble with certain types of encryption, like PDF files who have their Copy/Paste function disabled. Essentially, if it can't read the file, it can't convert it to flash.

The most common error, however, is failing to put the HTTP:// before the URL. PDFMENOT has to know the full URL to the file.

If that doesn't work, try testing your files at the webiste directly and see if you still get the error: http://www.pdfmenot.com/ Try both upload and entering a URL.

Ill PM you an example of the file im trying to use if you want.... its google analytics reports (we post em for our paid members so they can keep track of our stats)

Love it, here's my example hosting my own mp3 from my server, http://www.phototherapy.org/forums/showthread.php?t=14 using VB 3.8. One thing that I noticed though, if you're editing a post, it always changes "ame" in the BB code brackets back to "url" not sure why. Otherwise, hats off to you, the Geek and others! Love it!

The AME tags are just for converting older media tags. Their not required to embed the media, just URL tags.

I believe I've pinpointed the problem with Amazon, and it appears to be an AME 2.5 bug. These definitions should provide the workaround to make them pull the titles and URLs properly. But I would still like some feedback to make sure their working properly.

Remember to change the affiliate ID to yours if you have one.

alright DJ, i might make a few posts here while i test the new amazon stuff. first impression is great, links seem to be parsing properly, even with a bunch of chaff after the ASIN number.

however, i am trying another link that has already been affiliate'ed, and its giving confusing results:

http://www.amazon.com/Kitchens-India-Curry-Paste-3-5-Ounce/dp/B000V1AWBU/ref=sr_1_1?tag=slickdeals&ie=UTF8&s=grocery&qid=1229718424&sr=1-1?tag=thefulmai-20

there are two ?tag fields there, the one where i got the link (slickdeals) and my site is tacked on the very end there.

the above is on the amazon (thumbnails) XML

*edit* also just noticed that with a link from amazon that already has an affiliate tag in it is displaying the thumbnail properly. however, if i navigate to amazon.com, and randomly select an item, no thumbnail is displayed, only the link and the title. (hope that made sense)

i am about to test out the amazon(links)

boandmichele
12-19-2008, 07:02 PM
okay, amazon(links).xml is doing the same thing, its leaving two affiliate tags in the link, like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8N082-MHR-7-Inch-Neoprene-Netbooks/dp/B001GQ2W7G/ref=dp_return_1?tag=slickdeals&ie=UTF8&n=172282&s=electronics?tag=thefulmai-20

Some Amazon products don't have a corresponding thumbnail.

It's a peculiarity in 2.5, as the ID is stripped out in 2.0. The only solution I can offer at this point is to remove the other affiliate ID before posting.

You would loose the resizing functionality of 2.5, and you'd have to import the other definition set. Depends on which you find is the bigger hassle.

Looks like I have a misplaced ID in Thumbnails definition. It's in the title when it should be in the a href.

Try going into your IGN definition and in the Replacement HTML, escape each of the single quotes ' with a backslash \ and see if that takes care of the problem.

That would be a question to ask in the main modification thread, as this is just extended definitions for that mod. But yes, there are Usergroup permissions. However, you would need to check the documentation on the limitation of the conditionals. I forget exactly what the limitations are since I haven't had cause to implement them yet. But I know there's some small issues related to that.

Installation of AME, or import of the definitions? For AME installation, you should be asking that question in AME thread.

Sounds like you haven't imported any of these definitions, as you only seem to have the default set that comes with AME. You have to delete those and then import my Master XML.

Just post the URL to the video like you would ordinarily. You don't paste in the embed code. This converts the links to videos. Your users don't have to do anything else different then what they were doing before.

Well gang, I've been working at this for some time now, and it seems there are some issues with the HD versions of YouTube videos. Previously, YouTube HD and HQ URLs required appending special code to the end of the source of the video. This hasn't changed, but originally, having the special appended code on a video that did not have a corresponding high res video didn't matter. The Standard Def video would play instead. This was perfect for AME, since the best suited option for this, the way RegExes work, was to have one definition for all resolutions.

This is no longer the case with YouTube videos, as now, if the higher resolution video doesn't exist, and the specia code is appended to the source video, the source video can't be found. There are issue with the Regular Expression needed to parse YouTube videos, so a second definition is not working out either. If anyone has found a more tenable solution I'm all ears, because right now, HD and HQ will not be in the next update.

If your using 2.5 your Height and Width options are right there under Settings in the AME CP.

If you removed the $ameinfo[height] and $ameinfo[width] variables from the YouTube definition, then your global size settings will have no effect on your YouTube videos. This can be a problem if your planning on allowing videos in signatures, profile comments, etc.

Thanks. I just read it... but i am not sure it's 100% correct. I mean, i just tried yesterday to play with youtube video links with and without "&fmt=22" code. For those who haven't got the HD/HQ version, the normal SD version was playing instead, and not telling me even a single time that "source video can't be found". But i was doing that in browser, maybe DJ's AME can't do that inside the code. Or maybe it needs to do some checkings first. Or at least just do a simple workarround and put a link at the bottom for the HD/HQ version, and whoever will want to see it, click it and be redirrected to youtube...

The problem is not the URL extension, but the source code URL extension.

High Quality: &ap=%2526fmt%3D18
High Definition: &ap=%2526fmt%3D22

That has to be at the end of the video source URL to play either version.

Take Jaxel's video for example. Here's the video source for Standard Def:

http://www.youtube.com/v/wGCZ7IjKFY8

Now to get the High Def version of that, you need this:

http://www.youtube.com/v/wGCZ7IjKFY8&ap=%2526fmt%3D22 (http://www.youtube.com/v/wGCZ7IjKFY8&ap=%2526fmt%3D22)

This was not a problem in the past when they where doing just HQ. I could just put that in the source code and even if there was no HD or HQ version, it would still play the standard def version. This is not the case anymore. Like this video that doesn't have an HD version. Tack the HD code on the end, and you get a thumbnail, but no video content.

http://www.youtube.com/v/1bibCui3lFM&ap=%2526fmt%3D22 (http://www.youtube.com/v/1bibCui3lFM&ap=%2526fmt%3D22)

And getting a RegEx to match the &fmt=22 is easy, but since it can't match the standard YouTube definition, you need to make another one. But another def will still try to match the string up to that point, giving you two YouTube vids. I may have to do like you said, and just put a link to the HD versions, but even then, it's not always going to give them and HD video.

Yup, that's it. These definitions for for AME 2.5, which uses a variable for the height and width. AME 2.0 doesn't use those variables, so your height and width settings were empty. Just delete this set of definitions and import the set from my other thread. All the same sites are supported.

***UPDATES***

Okay gang, here's your first set of updates for 2009. The Local Hosted ZIP has been added to this thread (though, not all will use the global sizing variables) and the individual XML files are available as well in DJ's AMEs.zip. You, however, don't have to go through those files if you've already had these imported. I've created an update ZIP or XML file for your convenience.

WHAT"S NEW

**Internal Linking
You may notice the new set of defs towards the top of your list called Internal Linking. This set is entirely optional, of course, but will auto convert internal links using the info between your forum's <title></title> tags. It will also add a small image to the start of the tag based on your forums favicon image. (NOTE: If no favicon shows up, make a copy of the favicon in your website's root directory and add it to your forum's root directory)

This set includes defs that will convert Threads, Posts, Forums and Categories, as well as auto format a link to a member's profile page with their User Name. (The member link doesn't include a favicon image. You can add it if you want.)

This has not been thoroughly tested on a forum other then my own. So give me some feedback on if you like it or not. It also has not been optimized for people running SEOs of some kind. If you want support for your SEO you need to send me a link to your forum as well as let me know what SEO modification your running.

AllPosters (Thumbnails) et.al.
This set will convert almost all product links form AllPosters.com into thumbnails like the Amazon and CafePress definitions. There's very few products that will not convert, and these appear to be only frames, or anything that's been framed.

Also note that you can use your own affiliate ID with AllPosters if you have one just by replacing the three instances of mine in the Replacement HTML. Or you can leave it. Again, won't hurt my feelings.

CannabisTV
I'm not sure what this site's about, but I think it has something to do with botany.

Google (Search Results) (Let Me Google That For You)
Two new defs for Google include one that will convert search result links into a shorter formatted Google link.

And a humorous one that will convert links into a redirect to LetMeGoogleThatForYou.com

Let me google that for you... (http://www.letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=Star+Wars)

The Let Me Google That For You definition is a variation on the one (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=199374&highlight=let+me+google+that+for+you) created by Vitaly.

There's two icons available, the old Google favicon 91863 and the new one 91862. Save them to your images/misc directory. It uses the new icon by default, but you can change the definition to the old one just by changing the Replacement HTML image source from _new to _old.

Imeem (Photos)
Didn't realize this site had embeddable photos, so here's a small def to correct that oversight.

Wikipedia (Links)
Here's a handy definition for auto converting Wikepdia links with a little icon at the front. Save this image to your images/misc directory. 91864

91864Star Wars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars)

YouTube (HQ/HD)
By now you should all know what this is as often as it's been requested. This will embed High Def and High Quality YouTube videos based on the URL. Most of you already know to add the special string of characters to the end of the URL when you want to link to it. However, for these to convert, you'll need to add the string after the watch?, before the v=, like so:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?fmt=18&v=FuQRmtBq-ls (http://www.youtube.com/watch?fmt=18&v=FuQRmtBq-ls)

This is the concession I had to make just to get HD and HQ videos to work with AME. Remember that this will only work if a corresponding HQ/HD video for a given URL exists. Here's the code you need for each type of video:

High Def: fmt=22&
High Quality:fmt=18&

WHAT'S UPDATED

The following defs where updated mostly because of code changes by the supported sites.

Imeem (Music)
Imeem (Videos)
MySpace

YouTube
Somewhere along the way, the Full Screen option disappeared from this definition. I've worked it back in along with a new feature. Deep Linking. Sounds like something you'd get from the back end of the video store, right? Not in this case. Deep linking is YouTube's relatively new ability to jump to a fixed time frame inside a video. In order to do this, append the URL of your YouTube video with #t=XXs where XX is the number of seconds into the video you want to jump. (NOTE: I know some of you already know of this, but what's different here is that you cannot use minutes and seconds in the URL. You have to use seconds only, so you'll have to do just a little head math.)

For example, click http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuQRmtBq-ls#t=120s and playback will begin exactly 120 seconds or 2 minutes into the video. This will not work with the HD videos, but will work for any other YouTube link.

As always, the updates have been added to the Main ZIP and the Master XML. But you can download them here absolutely free!.

And that's all! Hope you all enjoy!

This "should" work on your site Arny. The only thing you won't need are the AllPosters definitions, since your site is where I first did my trial runs of them. You've already got the finalized versions of those. But other then those, the updated defs should all work on your board.

Could have been worse. I was considering Delta Force prior to sanity taking hold again.

At least I'm in the right thread now ;)...

Downloaded the master.xml but google-Video (hosted) still doesn't work.

Unfortunately the four Internal Linking definitions don't work either.
No matter which link I use, it's always reduced to trekkingforum.com/forum/
no more. The rest of the link ie the "showthread.php" part is missing.

One minor issue:
Wikipedialinks only work if there's no "(" or anything in the link:

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus is working

Let me see this one, too. Check to make sure that vBulletin is not parsing the link like it's doing above where it stops parsing the link right before the final ")". Try moving the closing [/url] tag in Standard Editor mode to be sure.

I have a question, for some reason whenever anything is embedded it doesn't seem to show the correct title. ie. it'll just say "YouTube" or "**Internal Linking (Threads)".

I'm pretty sure I have that setting set to "Yes", but still nothing. It's been like that since I installed the definitions back in November, but I didn't realize it until now.

Any thought on how I could fix that?

Dear DJ
wonderful job you have done so far.

i do have a suggestion though. is it possible that the master xml you always update, have the ability to over write the existing definitions and not add them?

if this can be done, then our work would be cut off to a great deal. in this way we dont have to go through each definition everytime to confirm whether it is a new or an old one. please do take this into consideration:)

There's no way to get definitions to overwrite with the way AME is designed, and that's probably for the best, as you could easily loose definitions that you didn't want to loose by an accidental import.

However, you don't have to go through the Master XML or the Main ZIP to get just the updated definitions. I always attach those updates separately in my **UPDATES** posts for people who've already gotten started. And I always post What's New and What's Updated so people know what to delete. And now I'm going to start attaching the the Updates files as XMLs and ZIPs for everyone's convenience, like I did here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1703596&postcount=196

Mark, mine show in widescreen. For example...

http://www.waltdisneyboards.com/videos/magic-kingdom-5/its-small-world-walt-disney-world-magic-109.html

...just make sure that the video is an actual HD one and that you change the HTTP to HDEF and you should be fine.

HD videos already display Widescreen, although constrained to fit into your player. Are you referring to the size of your video player? Because you can change that by changing the Height and Width attributes in the Replacement HTML. If your getting a Windowboxed video, then that's probably because the video was uploaded in that format.

I've usually just deleted all the other definitions and then imported the master xml file with all the definitions in the "3 times a charm" mod you provide.

Answer: The definitions from the "Third Time's the Charm" thread are for AME 2.0.2, but will mostly work in AME 2.5. The AME definitions from the "Delta" thread will only work in AME 2.5.

This doesn't answer my question.

So the AME 2.0.2 XML definitions "mostly work" with 2.5. I understand that.

What happens if I install the 2.0.2 Master definitions and then apply the 2.5 "Delta" Master Definitions?

As we know, when we import definitions they are additive. Are there duplicate definitions in the 2.5 "delta" to the 2.02 definitions? Are there any 2.0.2 definitions that are not included in the 2.5 definitions?

Your description is very confusing. In the 2.0.2 definitions Mod, you are very explicit about what one can do with a fresh install. Here you are not explicit. I want a full set of definitions. What will happen if I delete all definitions and simply import the 2.5 "Delta" definitions? "Delta" implies there is something that needs to be added to another set so should I apply the 2.0.2 definitions?

Thanks for the clarification. Believe it or not, the random "name" delta actually does cause confusion. Most computer folk are technically oriented (I have a couple of engineering degrees) and delta is very regularly used in common parlance to denote an incremental change to something, as Δ or δ. Clarifying that it was picked at random is helpful and I doubt I'm going to be the first to be confused by the name choice.

DJ, that isn't correct. Youtube windowboxes HQ/HD videos that are encoded as widescreen so that they fit in the default size box for some unknown reason. Even my videos, which I know are widescreen HD/HQ, show up in windowboxes.

The easiest fix is to manually set the wrapper HTML's width and height to any 16:9 ratio resolution.

Well, I don't think most folks, at least not here, will be familiar with such advanced terminology. And I do explain in the first post, albeit briefly, why "Delta". I don't think it will come up too much. And it's not entirely untrue in the sense that it's only an incremental change in the definitions. And as detailed as I am about this stuff, if there had been any special instructions, I would have made sure to include them. :)

That's fine, I just find it generally faster then going through the motions of asking the pertinent Yes/No questions. To kind of streamline things, check all your settings and make sure you've set them to do what they say they do. Disable New Items should be set to No, Extract Destination Data needs to be turned on both globally AND per definitions that require them. Depending on the version you're using you could have the wrong set of definitions installed, so check to make sure if your using this set, that your on AME 2.5. Here's proof that it's obviously a widescreen encode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?fmt=22&v=TjalKQMf_Ps

The windowbox on Youtube is due to the source files already being windowboxed before I started editing in Vegas. You can see that the 4:3 box on my website makes the black border larger. If I manually set the HTML wrapper for HD encodes to be wide (taking out the $ameinfo[width] and height arguments and replacing them with hardcoded values) then the video will display as intentioned.

Does FireFox have any special settings that would autoplay certain videos? Because I haven't encountered this in FireFox before.
Firefox doesn't support Windows Media embedding very well at all, so I'm no suprised it doesn't obey the autostart setting. Another one of those semantics things MS fights over with the entirety of the educated internet, trying to get everyone else to adopt because they're to lazy to do things right the first time around. At least it's not Apple and Quicktime, or we'd have a bunch of rabid fanboys jumping down our throats to make their little hippy club happy.

This video is playing, for me at least, in widescreen/letterbox format and not windowbox. I see the upper and lower black bars are larger, and is to be expected with the players aspect ratio being less rectangular then the video. But I don't see any windowboxing or pillaring occurring, neither in IE nor in FireFox.

Since ClipFish is now blocking my country from viewing the videos, I'm going to need some sample URLs and embed codes to work with, and then someone will have to test the definitions for me. Okay, here we go. Appearently Clipfish doesn't allow sharing of music videos (which they themselves upload and/or classify as such) or "special video" (when they show exclusive clips of TV shows that they are partners with). For all other videos, it's ok.

Also with the links, there are variations. It can be: http://www.clipfish.de/video/2810695/family-guy/ or http://www.clipfish.de/video/2810695/

Depending on if you take the URL in the browser's address bar or their "share this" link. The share link is without the title, the browser address bar is with.

I have attached a text file with 10 videos.

The demo is my development area, so not all threads you see are working websites. Only go by what I have listed in the first post as supported websites.

oooook , do you have any idea when Justin.tv will be supported ?

Thanks a bunch. That will be helpful.

It's part of the next batch of updates. But I've not done proper testing recently, and I believe my initial work is in need of an update.

Hulu definitions are included in the Master XML.
actually now that I'm using this turns out there's a bit of a problem

if it has an ' on the url it does not embed here a sampe url that does not work

http://www.hulu.com/watch/53078/naruto-shippuden-orochimaru?s-hideout-discovered

Seems this is coming up a lot now. Go into your Hulu definition and add the part in red to your Regular expression. That should fix that problem.

Warning: preg_replace() [function.preg-replace]: Compilation failed: range out of order in character class at offset 53 in [path]/includes/ame_bbcode.php on line 323

so I added the ' in the regular expression and no posts show in the forum at all everyone trying to post gets the above error message.

I removed the ' and people are able to post now. but still unable to post these type of videos

I forgot, this is 2.5 and we seem to have a small bug when it comes to single quotes. Probably needs to be escaped. A backslash \ in front of it should to the trick.
