has anyone resolved the plain youtube problem? if i have the master settings to extract data, NONE of the youtube links work, they show a link to youtube instead, and say embeding isn't allowed.

I'm actually finding a bunch of problems. neither of the google searches work either. i end up witha link to a search with a single letter.

I tried finding ways to fix these in this thread but the search function frankly isn't great on vb, and I tried, but simply couldn't go through 50 pages of replies.

Sorry if i sound a little smarmy, the local mp3 player won't load files, google search (let me search that) doesn't work, the youtube problems force you to disable extraction which really distracts from other stuff, and i've spent 3 hours trying to figure it out. I hate having to come bug people on their mods.

the internal link now works with AME 2.5 but there is no image any longer embedded, its the same as when disabled ??

It depends on a few things. First thing you'll want to check is if you keep your favicon.ico in the traditional location, or if you keep someplace else. It will look for the favicon image in the root directory of your website.

Registration is not required to post, but you will have to get through my spam defenses. Should be a breeze for an actual human.

Okay, very tiny, tiny update here. Would like to have had more, but most of what I tested today, which was mostly Imeem Video, Music, Playlists (looks like Imeem dropped Embeddable Images), and everything else that I tested today was not in need of an update.

The good news is you should see some daily/weekly updates from me, depending on what I find and how long a problem takes to tackle. That is the goal, anyway, so let's see how we do from here. The problem I'd been having is as the number of files I needed to keep track of increased, I kept trying to maintain the defs in the same manner I always have: In bulk. Ten or twelve defs at a time was my old style, and that time consuming as the number of defs to keep track of increased, and as I tried add new ones to the fold. What I realize I know need to do is do my updates in smaller doses, just more often.

Megavideo won't even take me to a video anymore. Everything is an advertisement hovering over a video that won't play, so it may be that AME is running into the same problem. I'll keep an eye on the site and let you know what I find.

As for the Full Screen issue, that's probably deliberate on Megavideo's part as a way to trick you into giving their site a hit.

Link me to the YouTube links that are doing that so I can check them. As for MP3, have you properly edited the MP3 links for certain. Google (Let Me Google That For You) is turned off by default because Google (Search) also converts Google search results URLs. Do you have (Search) turned off and (Let me Google That For You) turned on?

Send me example links to each of these problems.

Double check your Extract destination data settings. If I'm not mistaken it has to be turned on now for YouTube's embed check to function correctly.

You got the key right but it doesn't work. These are the links I'm testing with:

I'm trying to backtrack some of these conversations and see if I can fill in any gaps. The definition should have converted the last one to HD and you would have had to gone into the definition itself and adjusted the size to what you wanted manually for HQ/HD. But it looks to me YouTube changed the way this works AGAIN, so that's why you were having problems. For instance, when I made these, the videos were in EITHER HQ or HD, but not both. That seems to have changed again. I'll try and work on this again and see if I can work something out if The Geek doesn't come up with a better solution for the next version of AME before then.

I would like to know if there is a possibility to add some automatic JPG embedding on users posts? :confused:

I mean, my boards users are somehow a bit newbies (everyone once was it! :p ) and most of the times, they just don't click on the Image Button (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2011/07/5.gif) in order to embed the JPGs on the posts...

They simply post the URL to the image, and what we get all the time, is something like this:

When we should be getting this:

So, my question is: How could I add a way to automatically embed the JPGs on posts by simply posting the images URLs? :confused:
It's possible, but I'm not sure how practical it would be. I'm always a little suspect of making definitions too broad so they match any URL. I can look into it.

How can I import all definitions? Every time I try to install all I got only first 17 installed. I did try everything, including re-install AME and delete all definitions.

Flickr photostream slideshow's doesn't seem to work. What I can see the links on flickr follow this pattern: http://[w\.]*flickr\.com/photos/[\w]+/show/

But the regex look for http://[w\.]*flickr\.com/photos/[\w]+/show/with/[\d]+/

Just removing that last part doesn't seem to work either. Am I doing something wrong?

I have a locally hosted wmv video that auto plays every time the thread is loaded, how do i stop this happening. I have looked at the code and auto play is set at false. :confused:
Unless memory is failing me (and that entirely possible at this time of night) there's a problem with that depending on which browser you're using.

Once again, this mod kicks serious butt.

Is there a way to change the color of the font above the videos without changing the color in the actual forum style? If not is there a way to change which font color (First Alternating Color), it pulls from in the forum style?

AME uses templates, so just change code the template to something other than the tcat class it generally uses.

It looks to me like you don't have Extract destination data turned on, either in the definitions or globally or both.

Remember to re-save the posts if that turns out to be the case.

Last time I checked, no. But I'll keep checking back to see if they ever decide to use a consistent media player. They tend to want to switch between Hulu and a local player, and that just creates problems for AME.

with vbulletin 3.8.3 and AME 2.5.5

the

**Internal Linking

has a severe problem, its not linking to the destination thread instead always to itself.

example if you hav a link with www.xxxx.de/..../t=123
t=12 does not show up in a mouse ovr but instead t=456 (the thread were you place the link to) and if you click you end where you started.

alle the **internal linking do have this problem.

the edited thread shows the original link unmodified.
I'll have to double check these. The Geek posted an alternative to my Internal Linking definitions a few pages back that you can look into.

Depends on a few things. Old URLs need to be converted carefully using the AME Tools. But if new URLs are the problem check all your settings, making sure you didn't accidentally turn AME off, or did something wiggy with the permissions. Also, for local hosted you need to make sure you made the appropriate edits to the definitions, and for YouTube, make sure the videos being used are actually embeddable. Sometime they're not.

Attachments don't convert with AME, so uploading is the way to go. This should be working, but I'd have to look more closely to know for sure. If you give me temp Admin CP access I can take a look.

I resized my AME to be widescreen. ESPN works great but Gametrailers obviously does not work.

Geez, these mod threads get long...

Quick question about the Onion def. I'm using AME 2.5.5 (I believe, the most recent one anyway), and the Delta def file. The embedded player, and innitial frame shows up in the player, but clicking on the "Play" button doesn't do anything...

No real pattern as of late. Today was supposed to be my day to start regular, smaller updates as opposed to the big large ones I was trying to do periodically, but between no internet connection and some MySQL errors today, that was totally snafu-ed. I'll try to stay up a bit tonight and catch up, but silly me decided to do a late night workout, so we'll see how that goes (Did I just say I did a late night workout? What have I become?)

Okay guys, I'm having issues with my site again. Seems I'm getting more traffic than usual (even though my forums aren't any more active than usual) and hitting my host's max_user_connections limit. Not particularly happy about that, as I don't know if I can afford dedicated hosting at the moment and they don't plan to increase the limit for shared hosting. Until this is worked out, all my work on AME, not to mention all of my websites, are essentially shut down.

Ugh, I guess I just don't get it.
I installed ame2.5.5, then I imported (through AME) the MP3 (.MP3 Extentions) xml. I changed the YOURSITENAMEHERE to my sites name.
I tried uploading an attached mp3 and inserting it in a post, inserting a link from another site, inserting a link from a file on my site, and it just shows the link to the mp3 and when I click it the standard Open / Save file window.

Where did I go wrong?

Started doing it immediately. I've been using passiveVid for a long time now, wanted to get something more updated. So installed AME, and when I went to install the definitions, clicked import, left everything selected except youtube (said there was a duplicate entry) then when clickning Import it won't load the next page.

The whole point of AME is so that you don't need any special code or buttons or extra steps. All a user has to do is post the link to the video, and it will auto-convert.

this is a great mod, using it since the firt day i uped my web
only 3 problems im having with local divx

1. i upped the vid and it embeded ok but when someone enters the post to see video it shows scrambled code were the video should be, i know this is caused because the end user dont have plugin or codec instal but my question is isnt it suppose to provide a popup suggesting to download the plugin?

You'll have to be more specific. What URLs are not working for you? My tests show it still working on my site.

I think it depends on the user's end circumstances. i.e. browser type, OS, etc.

I will double check, but as I recall, Firefox and IE handle the auto-play differently.

Video player controls are handled by the file itself, not by the definition. If a SWF file has no controls, it's because it wasn't created with any. Flash files are not inherently video players, the are just commonly used as one. The author has to define/design controls if he wants any.

It could be a file is missing or in the wrong place and not being found when importing. Try importing a single definition from the ZIP file and see if you get the same error. Double check that everything was uploaded and not dropped during FTP.

I (sometimes) like a challenge. Here is easports.com working with the URLs you gave. Note that this definition requires the extraction setting to be on and functional. Be sure to delete your old version before you import it.

Definitely later. I just arbitrarily picked a selection that needed updating and went with that small group for now. Part of the reason I opened that small section on my site was to better keep up with new/updated XML requests, as I'm having a harder time doing it in this thread, especially when I have to go away for an extended period of time.

YouTube changed the way they handle HD. My definition was designed to handle the old &fm=22 string at the end of the URL. They no longer use that, they use &hd=1, which has presented a problem for me in designing a new one.

Right now, no, I only have .SWF support, but I'm looking into making .FLV support for a future update.

As I explain in the description, you use nothing but your site name. In your example website there, you would only change the part in all caps to mysite and nothing else.

As I explained the in mod description, the Master is for people starting new or starting over. The ZIP file is for people wanting to pick and choose which sites they will use. For updates, you just replace the ones I release as I release them.

If it's been a long time since you've updated, and you don't really know what you've missed, or you've missed a whole bunch, then you can always just delete everything and start with a the fresh Master. Although, I should point out, I haven't updated the Master XML yet.

It was the master. They worked individually.

I am having problems with the photobucket though (using your update from 9/16). It is showing the embed box, but no video or controls. The video type is a .flv if it makes a difference.

I've been going through each definition trying to troubleshoot each one for 2.5. I won't be able to release a Master for a while, but I will be releasing any updates I make to the existing defs as I go, as I think they are needed.

I have a couple of updates for folks running Amazon and AllPoster links on their forum. Continuing to separate the wheat form the chaff, I've had to drop the Amazon (aStore) definition, as AME simply isn't scanning the pages content for it to be usable. However, I have made a significant update to the Thumbnail definitions, as I was getting tired of seeing products with no image. I've done extensive testing of this one, and you should hard pressed to find a product on either site that doesn't pull an image of some kind. That includes Amazon, which used to never pull images for MP3 downloads, most clothing and jewlery and random items added by users. It should pull everything now, and if it doesn't, please let me know.

In addition, AllPosters (Search Results) and (Browse) aren't really necessary anymore, but I'm keeping them, and updating them, in the event you have old links on your forum that you don't want "un"converting.

Just delete the one(s) you are replacing. Definitions do not overwrite. The Master is for people starting new or starting over.

No, as one of the ideas behind AME is to be a solution to having to use embed code on your forum. And if AME matches the URLs in the embed code, it will try to replace it. The only way around that is to tell your users to turn AME off when using embed code.

I had an AME 1.2 plugin and yesterday updated to 2.5, imported new AME 2.5 Master definitions, and old blip.tv video works, but it's not possible to post a new ones, because of the blank newreply.php page then posting..

I had an AME 1.2 plugin and yesterday updated to 2.5, imported new AME 2.5 Master definitions, and old blip.tv video works, but it's not possible to post a new ones, because of the blank newreply.php page then posting..

Basically, all I am wondering is for some reason I can't find where I can edit that container HTML to make it align left instead of center. Briefly, We have two issues with foreign languages, and theses issues are not with scribd only, but with all media sites :

1- Links with non English words will not work. I think we need to edit the Regular Expressions of sites that deal with non-English words links to solve this issue . Example, scribd.com >> you can ignore this issue, because the site has removed non-english words automatically as we noticed .

2-Non-English titles doesn,t show up properly. for example, youtube clips that has non-English titles show wrong characters like this ?ظ„طھظ…ظ‡ظٹط?ظٹ ظ„ظ.

Don't know what's causing that, but I'm not familiar with how Opera handles media. Does it need the plugin to be updated, perhaps?

When I try to import any of the .XML files either single or the Master, the file imports, I see the "Imported like a charm" message but when it returns the definition isn't in the list :(. I tried manually adding one and that worked but for some reason imports don't. I dried deleting all of the current definitions also.

Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :D

And this is a new install, correct? If so, verify you have all your AME files uploaded to site, making sure FTP didn't drop anything during transfer.

I did this, the You Tube one imported, the Amazon one wouldn't. I also tried the You Tube ones and a few random ones from the .ZIP file and none of those worked either. :(

I've installed 8 individual definitions, and although they work fine on your site, DJ, there are 4 that aren't working on mine. Only the links are being displayed. I've read the faqs. I think this is a wonderful idea. For many vBulletin forums out there, I'm sure it's a great addition. However, for my forum it was simply a "fun" idea. It looks like the URL of ESPN.com videos are different than the definition here.

For example this is a recent ESPN.com video URL:

Think I figured it out on my own.

Here's what I did:

1) Control Panel >> AME CP >> Display Definitions >> ESPN.com
2) Change the "Regular Expression" box to:

3) Change the "Replacement" box to:

Just tested a couple and they work for me. Break requires the system to be able to extract destination data. Make sure this setting is on and that your system supports it.
I have that set,,it WAS working, stopped working ut of the blue

No video data. Most likely The Onion updated their embed code since the initial creation of the definition. I'll put it on the update list.
Did this definition get updated? I've just downloaded the master list, removed and re-added my definitions, but The Onion videos still show up blank.

I just updated to the newest defs. I deleted all of the ones I had first, and then re-imported the new def file successfully. Now... nothing works.... atleast youtube and photobucket so far do not work.

Any ideas? I've tried changing the contain and file extraction check boxes, but it does not work in any arrangment. It worked before the def update.....

OK.. I finally got those figured out. I figured out how to make the changes effective immidiatly (Stripping the code, then re-coding in the tools section).

However, I am having an issue with THe Onion links now. I get the container, but its blank.. nothing there. Not black or anything, just completely blank... this used to work before the updated defs... any ideas?

YouTube links stopped working (for some?) a few days ago as mentioned in the AME 2.5 thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=202476&page=67). I assume it is related to AME itself (and it's default YouTube definition) and not the DJ AME definition(s), but I'm not sure.

Yes about 48 hours ago youtube URLs cease to work on passive video and AME... most work with ame except YOUTUBE... my members are having a fit, they can no longer insert the URL link.

I think YT did something to their definitions??? But I am not a coder and need help.

I am having a problem, the youtube video is showing as embed code when using the URL. Can you assist. Did I miss something.

On one site I have turned off Extract Info (due to youtube issues) and the video works fine... and shows as video should... on this other site whether I have it on or off the embed code shows. I really need to sort this out please.

EDIT ok I managed to fix it how? I have no idea, I just ran all maintenances and flushed the cache.. rebuilt everything and all is ok.

It said it worked like a charm, but it hasn't. Others are skipped, or something. They aren't there...

to the people having issues with youtube:

as a temp fix try removing the validation.

AME CP> Display Definitions> YouTube> Validation

remove:

value="http://www\.youtube\.com/v/([\w\-]*)?&

test by posting a new youtube link. this doesn't fix links that have been already posted.

Not really. In the current version of AME, you can only set the sizes globally. Excluding, of course, the definitions that don't use the resize variables.

That is an encoding issue that has been with AME from the start. You would need to ask The Geek in his thread if this can be fixed. It's not something the definitions do.

I was hoping you could help me resolve an issue I have with using the AME 2.5 media player. I've posted in that mod and will post here, as well.

I have a mod that allows someone to add their PC Specs in a drop-down box that appears when a user clicks their PC Specs button. This menu appears behind the player in the post. I know I can edit the <object> tag of the player in order to fix this, but for the life of me...can't find what it is I'm supposed to edit. I believe I have to add a <vmode="transparent"> tag somewhere...and just need a little help finding the location of this edit.

Is there any way you can help me with this? I certainly would appreciate it.
Actually, I can't quite remember how to fix that either. I had it working at one point, and then during one of the updates, it stopped working. My last search on the subject didn't reveal anything useful, so I figure it's something unique to the video sites. Still looking.

I agree, if this is not goin to be porting over vb4, I'll prob install 3.8 and leave it as it is.
Well, The Geek said he has a prototype for 4.0 in the works and that it will basically be the same thing with just a few less features. I'll wait to see what he releases and see if there's any need for the definitions to be updated again.

I just got done putting up our 2009 Fall Concert program and now it won't play because it can't find the player site. :) I'd run the player locally if I could find a copy to upload to my site. You haven't installed AME yet. I link to it at the start of the first post in the IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ section. Either that, or you haven't installed AME completely.

It's back up as far as I can see now. You can also go to the website and download the flash player to host it locally. Just change the source in the embed code to the location on your website. Technically, you can use any flash player you want, as long as you can change out the embed code in your definition with the new code.

WeGame changed their player since the def was last updated. As long as it's similar to what they were doing previously, then you could do that. Otherwise the definition needs to be rewritten. I haven't had a change to look closely at it, though. If it's still using the same method than all that needs to be done is put the $p1 variable in the same place the name of the video appears in the embed code. Also, you have to switch out the sizes of the video to the $ameinfo[height] $ameinfo[width] variables.

The list is just a way for me to keep track of requests without having to spend hours harvesting them from multiple, ultra long threads. As I mention there, I might not get to adding them any time soon. With that said, I'm working on updating the old defs as quickly as I can, and hopefully this new schedule that I've been working on will let me add and update at least one or two defs weekly. So far, I'm close to getting that schedule on track. It's just been a struggle.

I'm still looking for an easy way to implement flv files into the AME addon. Everything else works just fine except the flv embedding which is a big part of what I do. I love the way AME will automatically embed wmv files and anything else and have the player window fit the video size itself. Need that to work with flv.

I'm at the point where I'll seriously pay someone to help get a script working for AME for flv that'll work just like the other definitions. If anyone knows how to do this, please PM me, I'll give you some cash if you write a definition for it.
