Like I said, the MySQL errors with Zoints have been rare so I personally don't know much, but if you don't manage your MySQL server I would suggest getting in contact with whoever does to check the status and see if there is not anything to correct.

If the server was stressed then other scripts would also throw up such errors but all the errors are from /z/ directory.
Another funny thing is that it only happend when a certain 'psbot' is browsing the profiles.
I have robots.txt'ed out psbot and all errors have stopped.So i guess the problem is solved.

Agreed, I think the engineer was saying that it wasn't Zoints in the sense of a file error or a bug, but a server issue. Now thinking about and seeing your solution, it seems like that bot was probably running amok on the profiles and that lead to server being stressed.

But nonethless, I am glad you figured it out and shared the solution so that others could be helped in the future should that arise for them.

Hi borno, sorry for the late response. Assuming you have the vB product installed for Zoints Local, go to AdminCP > vBa CMPS > Default Settings > Portal Output Global Variables
and then on add on a new line:

zointsprofile_popup_navbar

If you had the template edit to show the Zoints Profile dropdown on your navbar (for your forum) made either automatically or manually, adding this will allow for it to show on vB Advanced.

I haven't heard an official timeframe, I just know that the engineers have gotten a fairly good sample of forums for the QA team and are getting close to releasing a beta to them, so depending on how well that it performs with them, will either speed up or delay the process. And since a stable version of 3.7.0 has yet to be released, I can't comment that it will necessarily be compatible with it, but if it's not we will work to make it compatible as soon as 3.7.0 is officially released so we can code to a stable version.

It just seems like its a site of its own. Like its not really part of my site. It uses its own URL's for profiles and that messes with a lot of other plug-ins. It has its own navigation and features that aren't part of my site. The members are always having trouble using it and customizing their pages, most members dont even bother because it is just too hard and buggy.

We have yet to receive any compatibility issues with the latest beta version of vBulletin and Zoints Local. As it is beta software still, we cannot assure anything just given the nature of beta, but feedback regarding it's compatibility has been positive.

For me personally, it's not about zointing it up and being zoints buddies but rather the ease of which I can create custom content modules that provide a level of functionality that I couldn't begin to acheive without it, like this flash demo. I think it's pretty cool to be able to embed a browser module and java chat room on the same page without a bunch of vbulletin hacking. Let's see you do that some other way.

My site is fairly new so I don't have the luxury of thousands of members complaining yet. I have found the addon fairly easy to use although I will be the first to say that end user documentation is virtually non existent. What I plan on doing is producing a number of screen capture tutorials on how to use the various features. It is no small undertaking so it will take some time. I'd complain to zoints about the lack of end user documentation but considering what I paid for this addon, I think I'll cut 'em a little slack.

I like the fact that I can make available to users a huge variety of widgets like the ones on this site: http://www.springwidgets.com Any of these widgets are easily converted to a zoints block. IMHO, it opens up a world of possibilities.

I will agree with you in that inexperienced computer users may not be able to figure it out. Zoints is no more difficult than building a myspace page and I think somewhere around 5 million people have figured out how to do that....... well at least they've figured out the technical part of it..... most Myspace users are really aesthetically challenged and come up with some really gawdy stuff.

I'm also wondering what is going on in terms of development. I'm starting some new projects and Zoints has been practically dead for a long, long time. Don't get me wrong, your dedication in these forums has not gone unnoticed but you have to consider what I got for my investment. I'd be happy if I could just have a tagging system without dealing with the integrated profiles and the challenges of using it with other hacks.

The engineers really haven't worked on anything with 3.7 yet as it hasn't even reached the RC schedule of testing. I do know there are a few elements they would like to integrate into Zoints Local, but as they have not started to work with it I don't believe I should comment on it (in case it's not doable for whatever reason.) I think there are a couple obvious ones that we would like to try for, but I don't want to put the engineers in an impossible position should something be alluded to that cannot be done. 1. No, there could be a Spanish translation available from a third party but we do not provide it. However, translations will be made MUCH easier with the upcoming version.
2. Certainly, as long as the translation is true to what it should be.
3. Nope, unless your users sign up for Zoints. But by being a member of your forum, they will not receive anything from us.
4. I am sorry, I really don't understand this question.
5. You have to register to get a token and an auth. key to install. The product (Zoints Local) will not function without this information.
6. Your users will display in results for Zoints members, if your users have sensitive information on their profiles, they should set their profiles so that guests cannot view them (ie Google spiders and Zoints.) We do not collect information about members from forums but members are included within search results, and the information we collect about our own members of the network is extremely limited in comparison to other networks. Privacy is very important to us and within Zoints Local we let your members know in their privacy options to set their profile to not allow guest views if they do not want it being collected by Google or used within search results at Zoints.
7. You need to agree to keep the system in-tact as we intend for it, meaning that the Zoints branding remains and the link to Zoints Communities remains. We encourage forum owners to modify the product and develop new things for it, all in the purpose of fitting it to their forum. And of course, if you want to be added to our forum directory but you have adult content we expect that you label your forum accordingly.

Zoints Local does not currently support per-usergroup management.

Go to /z/zadmin.php and click on Pages, select Disable from the drop-down menu from any page you wish to disable.

The My Network feature currently only allows you to befriend people within your site not Zoints. However, the user must have set up their Zoints Local profile for their profile info to be inserted into the database before you can friend request them. Hopefully that makes sense, let me know if you have any other questions.

It's done all on your site. When you install Zoints Local, additional userinfo tables are created in your database to hold the new data for the enhanced profiles. The network feature looks at these tables (not the default vBulletin user table) to see if the user exists...that is why some of your members may not be available. They must set up their profile first.

Again, all this is stored on your forum, your database.

The Zoints Local profile are absolutely on your site. If your site goes down, your profiles goes down. If you have a thing against quick comment boxes, your users will not be able to access them. There is a few interconnected items should a member choose to have an account at Zoints.com, but they are not forced to (and the one block that allows them to link their account can be disabled by you, only the branding and the Zoints navbar needs to remain as is.)

The branding is not an issue. The "Interests" block links back to zoints. I wanted to just have them type their interests and be done with it but now I have to disable that so they are not leap frogged to another site when another user clicks on their interest. How do I just have a NON linked interest box?

Currently, as is, it is not possible with the current interests block. I really couldn't speak as to how you would accomplish it for just your forum, but I would imagine some database would need to be established that would house the interests. It would be possible, it's just not something available out of the box.

I have figured out the "Save" option. I didn't see the "Go" button. Here is the new list of problems I have incured:

1) I do have a problem with saving my photo. I have increased the image file size in the admin section but it still will not allow me to upload an image that is well under the size requirement.

2) I also get "PM"s that do NOT show in the "PM" section of the navbar but when I load my Private Messages it is there. How do I get it to show in the navebar like regular pms do?

3) When I get new network requests from users and click on the link to add them the page loads and it says "No users awaiting approval." I talk to the the member and they send another request only for the same thing to happen. What do I do?

4) I disable the "Blog" and other features in the "Pages" portion of the admin but the "Blocks" still show on the Profile allowing the member to still use those features. How come the blocks don't disappear when I disable the feature via the "Pages" section?

5) How do I remove blocks not listed in the "Pages" section. I want to remove the "Chat" box so my sites members do not spend more time at their profile chatting rather than posting.

1.) Manually verify that the user directory (and all the folders under it) are properly chmodded to 777. Just because the user directory is chmodded, does not mean the individual users folders are too (I don't know why that happens, but for some it does). That's the most common cause of this issue.

2.) Do you have a customized navbar in anyway?

3.) This is a bug that a couple of forums seem to have, we've been working on fixing it. If you want, submit a ticket with us and we can work on this and any other problem in more detail.

4.) What "blocks"? If the page is disabled, they cannot access them, but if you are referring to blocks such as Recent Blog Entries, you need to disable them in addition to the pages. Both blocks and pages can be disabled. I can walk you though that if you would like.

5.) See above. In Zoints, click Settings, then click Zoints Admin Area. Click Pages and then for the page select Edit Block Layout and disable the blocks you do not wish members to have access to.

Also there is a navbar on the profile page that has the following links:
Profile | My Vehicle | Discussions | Network

How do I disable the discussions feature and remove the "Discussions" link?

As for the other, you need to diable the Discussions page. Go to your Zoints Local (/z/), click Settings, click Zoints Admin Area, click Pages and then select from the dropdown next to Discussions to make it Unavailable and click Go.

Log into your vB Admin CP, click vB Options and then select Zoints Profile Options. In the options, switch Automatic Template Edits to No and click save. Any other template edits you had that you wish to keep, you'll need to consult the README file found with the vB Product zip to do manually.

No user info is collected by Zoints at all. The only time any user info is collected is unless that member joined Zoints.com and provided info like is possible for your members to do at any site on the net (but we collect a minimal amount to say the least.)

Zoints may also record and track other information such as IP address, browser type, and aggregate user data. This information is used to track the performance of our website and improve our service. User IP addresses are also recorded for security and monitoring purposes.

I can see the use of collecting some info, like IP address and such (so do I with vB). And so does any website.

We may also collect other profile data including but not limited to: age, occupation, education, personal interests, and gender. This information is optional, but can help other Zoints users find and interact with you.

That makes sense too, otherwise what use are search features.. lol
I'm just cautious with anything with the potential to become a large database of personal info.


With Zoints, can it be used stand-alone, meaning like with other mods. Is the requirement for a token and authentication key only needed for set-up? Zoints looks amazing really.. I'm looking for something that I can use fully independently, and the user-base can be contained to just those on my forum..

Yeah, the information is shared for the purpose of searching, so members on Zoints.com can find profiles on all the sites in the network but it is not something we have to access as all of our demographic tools are just for Zoints.com members. (I am not an engineer so I can't speak as to if it is even possible to change.) Since I can't access any of that, I really didn't think about it so I apologize.

But no, Zoints Local has to be installed using the token and key so it's probably not the best fit for you and your forum.

To be frank, I really don't understand why your members would care about a link, if they didn't like it, they just wouldn't click it (it's not as if the link goes to something obscene or offensive.) If you are getting complaints, I would suggest that. But no, it can't be removed I am afraid. Hopefully either your members calm down about it or you find a solution that works for them better.

Data in blocks is run through a function that parses it for "harmful" code. I'm pretty sure with some crafty coding you should be able to bypass that function and display the data directly to the user.

Alternatively, you should be able to change what is allowed/disallowed in blocks somewhere too.

Yes, install Zoints Local but do not install the vBulletin product. And you will be the only one to use the profile unless your members stumble upon the link. To access your ZL install, just go to /yourforumpath/z/

I really can't give the detailed explanation as to why (I am not an engineer), but Zoints Local does not function properly when SafeMode is enabled. You can try opening a ticket with us, but I feel any problems you have is likely going to be related to that.

Could you try going through the install process (or that link) again while logged into your default Admin account?

Another possibility is that you are installing at http://yourforum.com but are logged into http://www.yourforum.com, which the cookie treats as separate websites unless you have a 301 redirect install. So log into both the www. and the non-www. for your forum and try again.

Hi Katie,

I am seeing if I can get any specific numbers for (if they exist), but speaking from my personal experience, our dedicated server performs the same for us whether it's enabled or not. One of the other team members, a guy who has his background in databases, said that the large forum he helped to manage was not affected by Zoints Local at all.

You could always install it, do not install the product (thus not 'connecting' the two entities being ZL and the forum for the members) and provided some trusted mods or fellow site admins with the ZL link to see if you can detect any changes due to their usage.

Yep. Outside of a bug with the My Media block, which has been corrected recently and should make the upcoming beta build, everything with the AJAX works as is on IE 7.

Hey there swiss,

I haven't seen that EXACT problem, but I am pretty sure it's related to the server change. Could you please try opening in your FTP program /z/includes/localsettings.php? Search for $config['forum path'] = (it's right at the top basically) and make sure the correct path is there. With the server move, you need to do this manually so I am hoping that will clear up the problem.

If that doesn't work, please open up a support ticket as my support today will be a bit limited due to the holiday.

I just tried it again a few minutes ago, and low and behold it's working again! I'm waiting to confirm with a few more users, but it looks like all is well again.

Are you accessing it from the same location of which you are logged in at on the forums? IE, if you are not using mod rewrite, are you logged in and accessing it from http://yoursite.com or either http://www.yoursite.com, and not accessing the install script from the url instance of which you are not logged in at?

I completely understand David, you have to find the right mix of additions for you site that fits what your users need (I can relate as a fellow forum owner.)

Uninstall the product from your vB Admin CP product manager and visit /z/install/manager.php to select the third option (I think it's third) to uninstall. Once it is removed from your vB and uninstalled from the database, you can remove the files.

Yes, we have seen some issues with the 3.6.10 RC from vB, as they've implemented new security protocols that need to be accomodated.

I know that the problems have been worked out in the 2.0 beta; I'll check with the engineers to see if they have a hotfix for 1.0.4. If you could, please submit a support ticket with your site info (you can do so by logging into your Zoints account and clicking the Help button).

Have submitted a support ticket. I've got an unfound table zp_userdata coming up in error messages, but it seems to be looking at the wrong database in the mySql error so that could be contributing to the problem. Have asked for support in changing the database that the system looks for - as the zp_userdata table is present in the correct database.

Hopefully that is the problem (which would mean that it's not really related to the upgrade at all!)

That screenshot in the link you provided is within the Zadmin, the Admin Panel. You in essence set a default layout for your users, but then they can change it around or add other blocks that are enabled to use but not on the default layout.

It is a real drag and drop. Your users can drag blocks up and down a column or over to other columns. They can have just one column of blocks or they can have three columns, it's all left up to how they drag and drop 'em.

If you are curious to see how it works from a user perspective, I suggest you join Zoints and play around; you'll find ZL quite similar.

Absolutely. A user could add all the blocks that are available for selection or as few as they like, it's up to them and very customizable in how it all appears (the name of the block, the style, etc.)

I haven't fully tested it (I am on 3.68 for my local forum), but Zoints LOCAL by all accounts does work with 3.7x just fine. The worst thing I could think of that might not work would be some of the automatic template edits, which of course could be done manually if that was the case.

For the next update there will be a version designed for 3.7x.

Umm, I see the folder there at /z/. I don't know why you are unable to remove the files completely, consult your webhost though as we've never had an issue with that before. If you followed the instructions to remove it and removed the files, you should be golden.

We don't have a planned date at this time. Basically we make no qualms about bugs existing and we are sure there are more than we know about that will be found with different server setups, different sized forums etc. So we are taking the stance of we'll be done when we have as many critical and other bugs corrected that we are able to do.

Afraid not. We talked about it a lot and really wanted it as a team (your requests earlier spurred that conversation actually) but it just would have set us back longer and we wanted to release. I wouldn't rule it out but it's not in the plans right now as want to make it as stable and bug free as possible. Sorry. :(

That's too bad. It's the only reason I can't get anyone to use Zoints on my forum. How is it that you can get a wysiwyg editor to work on the zoint.com website, but not in the product release.

Also, I can not import the product into vBulletin 3.6.4 It says that compatability begins at 3.6.6 and ends at 3.7 That's a pretty narrow range. I had the 2.0 beta installed and uploaded all the new files and ran the upgrade script. It all still works. Is it really necessar to import the new product file? If so, can I get a product file that works with 3.6.4?

I am speaking purely on some loose chats I've had with the engineers but apparently there is some sort of integration that needs to be made between the vB editor and Zoints Local that is very heavy on the javascript and fairly complex (there is a bug issue actually on the 3.7x version that needs to be addressed in fact.) As for why we have a WYSIWYG editor on the .com, I don't know the specific reason but I am sure if it was possible to port the editor over they would have because it seems like it would have been easier. It's not that an advanced editor WON'T work, but I think they had a lot of trouble with it with the 1.x.x versions and just didn't have the time to get it working. The team really wanted it, but we also really wanted to get this RC out finally and correct the bugs with it.

As for the product, ZL should work fine for you but the new features won't be there in terms of the Community Central and such. I wasn't aware of the product being only 3.6.6 and up, so whether that was a slip-up or by design, I will find out and let you know.

I will let the rest of the guys know about these two issues. I hope the site is going well. :)

the plugin for postbit_display_complete that displays this information should use the value of the variable $show['zointsprofile'] in its if statement and the other plugin for postbit_display_complete should execute in order number 4 (before the aforementioned one)

I've tried to be nothing but helpful in answering your questions. It's truthful that many of our features came directly from suggestions and common thought among feedback, such as wanting ways to encourage members to have a reason to use profiles. Did we want to add more? Yeah. On the possible to-do list for the engineers was in fact the external WYSIWYG editor. Did we have endless time to complete all of this? No. You might think, actually I know you think, that we didn't prioritize correctly. For you and your forum that may be the case and I apologize if we can't meet your specific requirements but for other forums we might be delivering just what they need. We can never make everyone happy, but it's not for a lack of trying.

We WANT to add one. I think no matter what I say, you're not going to consider it and that's fine as you are entitled to your opinion, but I will make another push for looking into it. I am just a staff member, that doesn't mean it will happen but I can try my best.

As for this "but they are conspicuously missing from the released product," not to sound rude but that is just digging for something. We have added cool things to Local that haven't even made it's way to our network. A lot of people would say that was a pretty stupid move for us, but we wanted to give you guys something cool, whether you want to believe it or not.

Would it have been pointless if we could develop a superior photo album option? Of course not. Did we have the time to do such a thing considering how long we have been going at this? No. And to draw from the paragraph above, an album solution was needed on Zoints.com, we felt that as we weren't planning to release when 3.70 came out, some would already have established photo albums by our release and would be more content with keeping those rather than starting over.

I am really sorry you aren't more satisfied. As a non-engineer there is not much more I can do than to push for the editor issue to be looked into, which I will do.

I realize how much development time must have spent on this product. The plain and simple fact is, that if someone wants to create personal pages that include photo albums, they will go is myspace.com. Whether you like it or not, that is who zoints local is competing with. The myspace concept is completely integrated, and very intuitive. It is what the vast majority of forum members that would even consider creating a detailed profile are used to, and they will turn away from anything that is not as easy to use. As a forum owner, I am not able to present my members with a good reason to create profiles and blog on my site, because there are too many better places for them to do it easier. I have been hoping for the last year that the zoints product would change that.

Whether you believe it or not, I probably want zoints local to be a successful product as much as anyone on the zoints team. That is why I have been so persistent about implementing features that translate into ease of use by forum members. Not to sound too crass, but a lot of forum members or potential members couldn't find their butt if it had a bell on it... they can't even figure out how to complete the forum registration process 25% of the time, so they surely will have a hard time using, an antiquated text editor.

As far as a photo album, it's NOT about who has the better implementation. It's about the end users perception of seamless integration of album pages into their profile. Profile pages are, in fact, a mini-website, and as such should be a congruous collection of pages, including the photo album. If a visitor to any given zoints profile pages must navigate away from the profile to view a photo album, they have in effect, left that mini-website. That's not good because the congruity of profile pages is then broken. I have Photopost installed on my site and it's a better photo album solution that anything built into vBulletin will ever be. Even though it's the best photo forum available, it's useless as far as an integration into profile pages goes... it's a seperate product.

First off JD, I appreciate your passion for the product. Secondly and before I possibly bore others with a wall of text, we are looking into it (the editor.) Like I mentioned, this has come up recently again and I think it's something we all want solved. I don't know when or how or even if, but I believe there will be a good effort made toward this.

And I understand your point about photo pages and I agree as a Zoints Local Photo Album would be great. In the future? Who knows. But I think you misunderstood my point a bit. Photo pages to us were "pointless" (probably not the best word) when compared to revamping the blog and developing blocks for it. A lot of of time alone was spent on thinking how an entry would be spaced out or where should the tags go, etc. We felt that as not all forums would have the blog, in fact many do not, that it would be the more heavily desired feature as it is another form of content. So in essence, it was a very utilitarian type of thought, which of the two would bring the greatest joy to the most. With any feature development in the future, I am sure a photo album solution will be heavily discussed (it was discussed in the last round) as we knocked off a lot of potential additions with the 2.0 changes.

I believe the way it is coded it's so that users can specify a gallery to link to, be it on your site or an external site (like FlickR.)

There are also photo blocks from both Photopost and Photoplog on dev.zoints.com to integrate with Zoints, but I don't know if they still currently work as they are both older and I am sure they've gone through updates.

I did notice the photopost block on dev.zoints.com. If I could ever actually log in on that site, I might have a look at it. The login system on your dev site hasn't worked right for over a year now. Y'all might want to fix that.

I hope your Saturday is going as well as it can be, mine has been fantastic. :)

But I do need to apologize. I know I am probably not your favorite person, but there really has been a lot of work put into the release this week and a lot of support so I've been scatterbrained. I have so many different products I help on and I sometimes get things confused. For some reason, I don't really recall why or even if there was a reason, the album file was left out a few versions ago (I am not an engineer, so I don't know.) But I found the file for you and I PERSONALLY tested it on my forum (you can go to my profile to check it but I will likely remove that page from my navigation soon.)

This is how it functions. If enabled, when the user clicks on it for their profile, it will bring up a screen asking for their album URL. If they click that page, they will always get that screen but visitors and guests will be redirected to the URL that they specified.

And yes, there are certainly blocks on dev.zoints.com to show a user's images and to link to their gallery. On some install work I installed them for a few forums. These are 3rd party blocks so I wouldn't be able to support them but if they work, that would be great to hear.

We actually just got a complaint of this recently (literally last night.) I am thinking it must be a browser issue as while there has not been a ton of posts made there, very few actually, I have been able to login to post simple widget blocks and others have too.

I'll inform someone of this right away though. I'll download the blocks and I will post them you ASAP while that gets sorted out.

This block assumes that your vBulletin and Photopost installations use the same database. My installation uses a seperate database for Photopost, so this block doesn't work for me. I looked at the thread for this block on dev.zoints.com and several other people said the same thing and asked for a solution... as far back as a year ago. To date, there have been no solutions offered on dev.zoints.com

Hey JD,

I hope your Saturday is going as well as it can be, mine has been fantastic. :)

But I do need to apologize. I know I am probably not your favorite person, but there really has been a lot of work put into the release this week and a lot of support so I've been scatterbrained. I have so many different products I help on and I sometimes get things confused. For some reason, I don't really recall why or even if there was a reason, the album file was left out a few versions ago (I am not an engineer, so I don't know.) But I found the file for you and I PERSONALLY tested it on my forum (you can go to my profile to check it but I will likely remove that page from my navigation soon.)

This is how it functions. If enabled, when the user clicks on it for their profile, it will bring up a screen asking for their album URL. If they click that page, they will always get that screen but visitors and guests will be redirected to the URL that they specified.

And yes, there are certainly blocks on dev.zoints.com to show a user's images and to link to their gallery. On some install work I installed them for a few forums. These are 3rd party blocks so I wouldn't be able to support them but if they work, that would be great to hear.

Again, my apologies. Upload this file to your /z/ folder, enable the Photos page, inform your users on how to use it. I am sure a more elegant and seamless solution can be coded if you sought it from a hacker here, but this is something that does the job.

No planned date as we still have more bugs to find and correct. I would guess the engineers would feel comfortable going gold once they felt the significant/critical bugs have been fixed and the product is stable for a wide variety of forum setups.

Just a thought JD, I don't know if you have any mod rewriting settings on or .htaccess files, but maybe you would be able to code a rewrite to convert their Photopost ID into their username for a more SEO friendly URL like /photopost/joebloe/ (or whatever.) And then inputting their URL would be much more easy to accomplish. I am not an SEO expert so I don't know if that could be done, but I know converting id's into names is possible with vB through vBSEO and such. Just thinking out loud here.

As for the Photopost block, that's just fine to post it. Maybe if you can find enough people currently interested you guys could chip in an equal amount and find someone who could do it if no one is willing to do it for free for the community.

I'll look for a place to post the block on the photopost site and see what happens. There's only about 150 lines of code in the block, so there's a good possibility that someone on the Photopost site may be able to update the code.

Udate: I decided to import the photopost database into the vbulletin database and reconfiged.

The block works ok now. Still, viewing all of a members photos requires the viewer to navigate away from the profile that was being viewed. A photopost block might be an ok solution if there was better integration and member albums could be viewed without leaving the profile.

It establishes database connections, executes queries storing the result set handle in a class variable and provides other functions to traverse the result set an retrieve the data returned by the database server.

Our engineers are researching this issue; they suggested that this might be something you could use as a workaround at this point (and also, if it didn't function, we would have another piece of information to help us troubleshoot).

It seems to work OK with VB 3.6.4, so I'm wondering why the product file sets the minimum compatibility at 3.6.6 ...... (I change it so it would import)

It's not a serious issue, but the navbar links for the profile pages and blog disappeared after my upgrade to 2.0. Everthing is ok in adminCP so the settings are not the issue.

$zointsprofile_popup_navbar is in the correct place in the navbar template and 'zointsprofile_popup_navbar' is listed as a Portal Output Global Variable in CMPS.

EDIT: If I put the code below in the navbar template instead of $zointsprofile_popup_navbar, all the links appear. The community central and blog links then work. The profiles link appears, but the drop down menu does not appear.

If you created a new fresh vB style, do the links appear correctly? I haven't really encountered many problems with an upgrade from 1.x.x to 2.x.x but I know there were changes from product to product. Perhaps some of the difficulty is due to you being on 3.6.4. I know compatibility starts at 3.6.6 for the product, but as I did not code it I am not for sure why it begins at 3.6.6

There are a few more pressing issues.

1. When editing an existing thread or comment in the Discussions tab, the existing content does not appear in the tinyMCE editor...... it's blank. Editing existing blog entires works ok though.


2. The new block format for the blog page is not there for any profile that has been modified prior to the installation of the current release of zoints. All profiles that have never been modified, show the blocks on the blog page. How can I make sure ALL the profiles have the blocks page available for blogs? I'd rather not, but if I have to uninstall, then completely reinstall zoints, I will..... I hope that isn't necessary.

vBSEO is a very deep program so I can't say that each and every possible combination works, but with many installations of both, ZL works just fine (see my personal forum in my sig.) :)

There might be a bug or two with this Taipa, but I think I can work something out for you. If you wanted to make it so that the My Vehicle content was shown first, you could switch the block layouts for the My Vehicle and the My Profile, and then switch the title of the pages. I know this seems a bit backward, but it seems that the page ordering has a bug or two, which I noted to the engineers, but I think that would do what you need for the time being. But, that only apply to new/untouched accounts.

As with any upgrade to vB, we suggest that you backup your site and it's tables. But Zoints Local itself should continue to work fine, /z/. However, you would need to install the 3.7x product.

There are few products that contain the amount of work that Zoints Local has which is bound to be a bit more confusing (it is a struggle for us to have a file that doesn't exceed the maximum allowed size, thus why helpful_docs is not in the product zip.) And when you add in the fact that we are currently in a RC stage, so we still offer the existing stable version files for those who would prefer them at this stage for the 3.6x version, it only further confuses things.

If you look in the 3.7x mod section, you would find our product there and only two zip files. Hopefully you would see which was the actual download file, ZointsLocal-2.0.0.5RC3-3.7.X.zip, as again the helpful docs is something we do to provide additional information and not to confuse, if we had our druthers that would be one file on that thread and nothing else. Please check out the thread below.

I see it now! If anyone else has this problem, make sure to note when first installing that you need to define which blocks you want to show and where, by default the slate is clean.

Well, there's not really enough description of what exactly happens when users try to edit their profiles for me to give you an answer yet, but let's have you submit a support ticket and we'll take a look for you :)

I spent $400 on this to have it go belly up on me. I don't see my favorite hockey guy here atm and am wondering if and when we might see something that doesn't have to be part of the whole zoints community sharing. As of right now I'd like to consider it but I'm not sure I want to replace the new, upcoming usage of extended vBulletin profiles with this when it seems that the "benefit" you're providing is that my business forums can be intermingled with someone else's community on teenage love. ;) Would enjoy sharing with us these plans, considering I involuntarily funded this development. ;)

I appreciate the reply, but I want to hear from zoints. I need a list of the templates that are modified by the zoints installation, because it is highly unlikely that these edits will be automatically removed by the zoints uninstaller.

The Gold release includes a file titled TEMPLATE_CHANGES_MANUAL.txt, which lists the template edits that are normally made automatically.

Unless you made them manually then all our template edits are done on the fly through hooks.

This is a compatibility issue with your MySQL version: as of now we require MySQL 4.1 to be installed on your server. We're looking to see if we can bypass this requirement with alternative solutions, but for now - please don't install unless you meet the system requirements posted in the first post:

Ok I completely uninstalled. When I try to re-install, all I get is a bunch or errors like this:

Since I posted this, I have been able to complete the installation without the errors. I have absolutely no idea why I had the errors in the first place, nor do I know why they went away all by themselves.

The best I can figure, my server was temporarily possessed by some sort of demonic spirit. I believe it is gone now.

One thing I've noticed with the gold version is that I can no longer embed media in blog posts and I was able to do that with RC3. (I installed the media plugin for tinymce). I'm able to preview the media file before inserting it into the blog entry, but after saving the entry, the media does not show up. I know the embed code remains in the blog entry, because if I edit the entry, the code is still there.

What has changed to prevent the media from showing in this latest release? The exact same embed code works with the 'My media' block.

Edit: For now, I just need this to work with youtube....... other trusted sites in the future. I understand the need to not allow flash media from any old website, but youtube and some others should be perfectly safe. I'm not sure why the 'My Media" block displays youtube videos ok, but not in blog entries.

Are you saying that the 'My Media' block does not use HTML purifier? ..... because it wouldn't make sense to allow the very same embed code in the 'My Media' block that cannot be used in blog entries.

I do indeed have PHP 5.x+, but I don't think migrating to HTMLPurifier 3.1.1 from 2.1.5 within Zoints is as simple as downloading . Besides, there's no reason to not be able to include youtube videos using 2.1.5.

The blog entries are a different story though, but we implemented HTMLPurifier to protect against any exploits....the My Media block does not use HTMLPurifier.

I'd appreciate those instructions. It would take me a long time to figure it out by myself. If it only worked with youtube for now, that would be great. I don't want to bypass HTMLPurifier, I just want to take advantage of it's whitelisting capabilities. If this were restricted to youtube, the risk is acceptable.
