It's been a while since I've been here... it looks like all of the changes have only been bug fixes? Was the ability to receive email updates of new posts ever added?
Sabe ~ Are you still working on this one?

I'm having a url problem. like i'm in http://www.mysite.com/groups but when i click my logo. to go back to the main forum it takes me to http://www.mysite.com/groups/forum.php then takes. me too a 404 page not found, anyway to fix this?
I would suggest editing your header template and appending the links to '../$vboptions[forumhome].php' instead of just '$vboptions[forumhome].php'

Sorry if this has been asked before, but how does each specific group specify their own custom image? (by uploading or linking) Instead of grps_mygroups_noimage.gif

Hi,
I get this VBmessage with VB3.7.0 B4 when I clicked my group title on USERCP page.
"This user has not registered and therefore does not have a profile to view."
How can I fix?
I think...Maybe I fixed.
The problem disappeared when I edit some code from PLUG-IN:GRPS: Group Activity In User CP (15 Newest).
Find and delete RED code.
$mygroups .= "
<li id=\"grpsgroupsbullets\">
<a href=\"" . $baselocation . "/groups/groups.php?" . $vbulletin->session->vars['sessionurl'] . "g=" . $grps_mygroupsinfo['groupid'] . "\" title=\"" . $grps_mygroupsinfo['title'] . "\"><b>" . fetch_trimmed_title($grps_mygroupsinfo['title'], 15) . "</b></a><br />
Is this correct?
Anyway the problem disappeared....... :)

I'm pretty certain 3.7 makes this mod obsolete.

Can anybody point out any sites that have implemented this mod - it looks great so far, and I'd love to see what it looks like live.

I'm pretty certain 3.7 makes this mod obsolete.
I'm not sure, vB 3.7 only allows you to have social groups with comments and adding pictures from user albums. Will I be right in that this mod is actually what is being used at Game Trailers? If so then there is a TON of features on this mod that is missing from vB 3.7. If vB 3.7 had forums for Social Groups then, and only then will this mod be almost obsolete. For now though I think that this will be the one thing that everyone that uses it wills till keep using it.
I get the feeling that this is the same mod used at Game Trailers because they haven't updated their vB since vB3.6.4 which is the last working version update on this mod.

Well I tried this out and unfortunately it doesn't allow attachments which was what I was really hoping for. I guess it's just a matter of waiting for a Forums for Social Groups mod.

I kept getting the chdir error even though I know I did it right, so instead I tried to change the dir to / instead of /forums and I didn't get an error but I got this:
http://thedivinemessengers.com/groups/includes/config_grps.php
A blank white page. Any ideas?
Varsh

I had the same problem too, I might change it so that the groups are in the forums directory to see what happens then. But I probably won't use this now as it doesn't allow attachments. This mod is awesome, especially for 3.6. If Sabre could update this hack for 3.7 but integrating Social Groups with having their own forums then that would be fantastic, hell I would even pay for a mod like that.

The mod works perfectly fine with both 3.6.x and 3.7RC1. Check that you have configured the config file properly.

I would imagine maybe something like this - Below
// ## Set's the base root directory back to the forums for all images ##
$img_forums = "/";
replace "/" with your own settings, depending on where your root directory is. I noticed that it was missing in the config file, and found a post with this issue burried within this thread.
On another note - I need some assistance
I am currently having a directory issue.
http://www.fainteconnections.com/groups that is how my forum is set up, for some reason the links in my navbar are not working correctly
instead of my links looking like this
http://www.fainteconnections.com/usercp.php
it instead looks like this
http://www.fainteconnections.com/groups/usercp.php
I noticed another member had this problem, posted it but nobody ever got around to responding to it. If you can help out with this that would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

Okay.....
I think I finally got the installer to run.
All I got was a "Done". That was the only word on the page.
However.....
I can see the Grps areas in the Admin CP.
I can edit categories etc.
I have a message in my profile that says that I am member of no groups.
But.......I have NOTHING in the Usercp about groups.
I have no clue where to go to add myself to a group (or remove myself from one).
I have no clue how to access the groups forums.
PLEASE!!!!!! Can ANYONE help?

I've gave up on it.
I upgraded the forums to 3.7 RC2 to have the social groups function. It will be just as good as this one. There is a mod for individual groups forum to.

Ok, we figured it out. To correct this problem:
In template headinclude find all instances of:
clientscript/
Replace it with:
{$vboptions[bburl]}/clientscript/
Your dropdown menu's should now work. :D
Note: By default you should only have 2 instances of clientscript/ in your headinclude template, but you may have more depending on what hacks you have installed.

EDIT: Apparently I spoke too soon. The modification below does not work correctly. Will update this post when I get it working right.
To display groups information on the memberinfo template (the members profile) perform the following:
1. Create a new plug-in called Groups Activity in Memberinfo (15 Newest).
Plug-in information
Product: GRPS: Groups Commune
Hook Location: member_complete
Plugin PHP Code:
// ###################### extracts my groups groups for main grps page
//require_once("./includes/functions_grps.php");
$grps_ids = explode(' ', trim($vbulletin->userinfo['grps']));
$baselocation = ($vbulletin->options['grps_locationswitch'] == TRUE) ? $vbulletin->options['homeurl'] : $vbulletin->options['bburl'];
if (!empty($vbulletin->userinfo['grps']))
{
$grps_ids_imploded = implode(",", $grps_ids);
$grps_mygroups = $db->query("
SELECT grps.groupid, grps.title, grps.description, grps.approved, grps.leaderid, grps_setting.image_name, MAX(grps_thread.lastpostdateline) AS dateline
FROM grps
LEFT JOIN grps_setting ON (grps_setting.groupid = grps.groupid)
LEFT JOIN grps_thread ON (grps_thread.groupid = grps.groupid)
LEFT JOIN " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user AS user ON (user.userid = grps.leaderid)
WHERE grps.approved = '1' AND grps.groupid IN($grps_ids_imploded)
GROUP BY grps.groupid
ORDER BY dateline DESC
LIMIT 15
");
while ($grps_mygroupsinfo = $db->fetch_array($grps_mygroups))
// foreach($grps_ids AS $grps_key_id => $grps_mygroups)
{
if(!$grps_mygroupsinfo['image_name'])
{
$grps_mygroupsinfo['image_name'] = "<img src=\"" . $vbulletin->options['bburl'] . "/" . $stylevar['imgdir_grps'] . "/grps_mygroups_noimage.gif\" alt=\"" . $grps_mygroupsinfo[title] . "\" border=\"0\" /><br />";
}
else
{
$grps_mygroupsinfo['image_name'] = "<img src=\"../groups/grps_imgs/defaults/" . $grps_mygroupsinfo['image_name'] . "\" width=\"100\" alt=\"" . $grps_mygroupsinfo[title] . "\" border=\"0\" /><br />";
}
if ($grps_mygroupsinfo['leaderid'] == $vbulletin->userinfo['userid'])
{
$grps_mygroupsinfo['leader'] = "<img src=\"" . $vbulletin->options['bburl'] . "/" . $stylevar['imgdir_grps'] . "/grps_leader.gif\" alt=\"" . $grps_mygroupsinfo['title'] . " Leader\" border=\"0\" /><br />";
}
else
{
$grps_mygroupsinfo['leader'] = FALSE;
}
if ($grps_mygroupsinfo['dateline'] > $vbulletin->userinfo['lastvisit'])
{
$grps_mygroupsinfo['newposts'] = "<span class=\"highlight smallfont\">" . $vbphrase['grps_new_posts'] . "</span>";
}
else
{
$grps_mygroupsinfo['newposts'] = FALSE;
}
$mygroups .= "
<li id=\"grpsgroupsbullets\">
<a href=\"" . $baselocation . "/groups/groups.php?" . $vbulletin->session->vars['sessionurl'] . "g=" . $grps_mygroupsinfo['groupid'] . "\" title=\"" . $grps_mygroupsinfo['title'] . "\"><b>" . fetch_trimmed_title($grps_mygroupsinfo['title'], 15) . "</b></a><br />
" . $grps_mygroupsinfo['image_name'] . "
" . $grps_mygroupsinfo['leader'] . "
" . $grps_mygroupsinfo['newposts'] . "
</li>
";
}
eval('$grps_mygroupsbits .= "' . fetch_template("groups_usercp_groupsbits") . '";');
}
2. Now simply place the variable $grps_mygroupsbits anywhere you like in the memberinfo template.
Optional step: If you wish to change the width of the member's group information you can do so by finding and changing the following CSS code.
In template groups_usercp_groupsbits find:
width: 50em;
And change it to:
width: 100%
Or whatever percentage you'd like to use.

just installed and it's a great product!
allowing users to upload a group image would be huge though, some sort of banner or something to make the group pages more unique.
even better would be a basic group image gallery or something along those lines.

Ok, it doesn't seem to read the forum, so the images won't show and the links go to the /groups directory instead of /forums. How do I fix that?
