Another bugs in grps_moderate.php

This piece of code:

The install seems to go fine and I get a "done" message but the groups page still shows up blank. Am I not doing something right?

Awesome Add On!!

I have a few minor issues that I cannot find to fix:

1. Group Leader Avatar - Not showing up, the image path is obviously wrong http://www.mysite.com/forums/http://www.mysite.com/forums/image.php?u=1&dateline=

2. Invite PM - The link in the PM to accept an invite is going to mysite.com/groups (it should be) mysite.com/forums/groups

3. Should there be an option to upload a groups photos or random is all it gets?

4. How could I go in to edit my navbits? Would like Forums - Groups - Group Name.

5. No Group Info in Member Profile. I am using a bit of the MySpace profile re-write, is this why I am not getting any group info?

2. You'll have to edit that manually, this was designed to run adjacent to your forums directory and not within it. the file you need to edit is groups/invitation.php. i would've posted the code but it's too long lines and very straight forward. just find $vbulletin->options['homeurl'] . "/groups/
and replace with $vbulletin->options['bburl'] . "/groups/

3. It's an unreleased add-on.

4. Hopefully someone will release an add on for that, in short it requires you finding each instance of $navbits = array(); and replace that with $navbits = array();
$navbits["index.php?" . $vbulletin->session->vars['sessionurl']] = 'Groups Home';

5. I wasn't aware there was supposed to be groups info in a members profile at all. there is a link to a users group from the drop down in the postbit, thus sadly it'd require an add-on as it's not part of the stock release.

YEs I am having simular issues also with the avator not showing up because it point to /groups instead of /forums/

I also have vbpager installed and the pager link point to /groups/bla/bla/bla

Need to fix this ...
your vBpageer thing is either gonna require customisation of the php file or a template conditional to hide it within groups. as for your images not working problem, it's different to his ones.

i never could get hacks like this to work on my forum.. it must be something set up in my dbase that prevents it... try try try... no success...

What is the group gallery?
the groups gallery is the ability for each group tp host pictures, set a default picture and thus negate the need for the rotating picture in said group, it would also enable thumbnail viewing of the default picture in the usercp module and so on and so fourth. unfortunately not available though. especially so while i'm still working out kinks here.

I had a similar situation. If I recalled, what I did was to include the info in it's table and do an align="left" and they automatically wrap themselves into the next line. I am going to try and will let you know.

I believe with that setup, the next members will automatically wrap around to go to the next line. If I recall, I used table align="left" which was fine with Firefox, but IE did not like. just had a look and it seems you got half of it working, so my job is easier, here's the rest of what to do.

Go to your AdminCP => Styles & Templates => <your style> All Style Options

Now scroll down to the Image Paths section
and change the "Button Images Folder" from "images/buttons" to http://www.yoursite.com/forum/images/buttons"
do that for each of the proceeding image paths. they will be:

Attachment Icons Folder
Miscellaneous Images Folder
Text Editor Controls Folder
Poll Images Folder

Perfect! This was misaligning the newest member in main group page to the left (but was wrapping around :-))

so since you define both scripts the same I introduced a new define in viewmembers and here is the content of template

have 0 problems the one i had was cause of something i did wrong. everything is great. although maybe an easier to understand install directions.

is is possible for each group catagory to have its own picture uploaded ? instead of grps_noimage_2.gif and it being random. can we set those to be a default image?

For example in the automtive area if I make a Mustang group, can we make the "default" mustang group image an actual image of a mustang? Seems now the images are chosen at random.

edit - forgot to mention. it calls for images of grps_noimage_*.gif where the star is it was calling for 4,5,6,7,8,9 which are not included in the zip file. should include those or make a not in the orginal post or install file cause now at 25 pages deep theres a bit to read for some users.

what chances the database will get busted and there is an installer.

This gr8 piece of coding makes changes in the core vb database files like usergroups... so i thought it would be nice to have uninstaller just in case somebody wants to reinstall or uninstall the plugin.

How do we update Templates after every upgrade. I installed a new skin after installing groups addon but its not showing up the right path for images. I dont want to manually edit the templates to achieve this... Please guide me;... http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/groups/

One thing more that i like to report is that once we are in Groups Module there is no way to get back to the forums as all links are suffixed with groups directory.

have 0 problems the one i had was cause of something i did wrong. everything is great. although maybe an easier to understand install directions.

is is possible for each group catagory to have its own picture uploaded ? instead of grps_noimage_2.gif and it being random. can we set those to be a default image?

For example in the automtive area if I make a Mustang group, can we make the "default" mustang group image an actual image of a mustang? Seems now the images are chosen at random.




edit - forgot to mention. it calls for images of grps_noimage_*.gif where the star is it was calling for 4,5,6,7,8,9 which are not included in the zip file. should include those or make a not in the orginal post or install file cause now at 25 pages deep theres a bit to read for some users.

This gr8 piece of coding makes changes in the core vb database files like usergroups... so i thought it would be nice to have uninstaller just in case somebody wants to reinstall or uninstall the plugin.

One thing more that i like to report is that once we are in Groups Module there is no way to get back to the forums as all links are suffixed with groups directory.

hmm, the last person that reported that had a ZSEO problem, i notice, you don't have ZSEO but instead vBSEO, try disabling that and checking whether or not that works (as to identifying your problem) as for the templates, the only way is to uninstall and reinstall at present. though now i know what you mean regarding an installer, it's a good idea, but a little more work than i'm willing to put in right now.

i would love to blame it on a css problem, but it appears that your style it pretty much hardcoded, and thus the only solution is to prefix all your images with your forums url.

The ZSEO problem seems to have been the result of a <base href="" /> tag, i'm unfamiliar with vBSEO tbh so really couldn't begin to guess the cause, i can only suggest disabling vBSEO testing to see is the problem still exists and then reporting back with your findings.

1) Sorry -- when I re-installed the hack it reset the permissions. Guest permissions are on so you can see the groups: www.churchmedia.net/groups

2) Yeah, the groups dir is in the site root. The custom avatars are in /CMN/customavatars/

3) Right -- it's pointing to the right dir, but I just don't have an image called grps_noimage_9.gif. Not a big deal.

4) I did change my home URL from my forums URL. So home is set to http://www.churchmedia.net and forums is set to http://www.churchmedia.net/CMN/

Thanks for your help on this. I think the main problem is getting the avatars to point to the right directory. If we can nail that, I think I'm ready to go live with it. :)

Well, I use this on a forum with over 600,000 users. There's a few pages within the script that timeout. I'm thinking it's a query causing the page to hang.

Is there anyway I can print out all queries in a page so I can run them myself to see which is causing the hang?

I suggest that you prune your user database. How many of those people logged in the last 12 months? If you do indeed have over 100k users than you shouldn't be playing with this script right now.

The ZSEO problem seems to have been the result of a <base href="" /> tag, i'm unfamiliar with vBSEO tbh so really couldn't begin to guess the cause, i can only suggest disabling vBSEO testing to see is the problem still exists and then reporting back with your findings.

i just wanted to address this.

the reason it's in RC as opposed to beta is because at the time of each of the RC's (maybe bar one) there have been zero known bugs. when i went without a bug for three days straight i could've declared it GOLD however i never because i'm actually querying whether or not i should sent it GOLD before i fully phrase the project. See the thing here is that there's a grave error in judgement in regards to GRPS and my standing on it. i never released it because i want to give something to the community, that's actually secondary. i released it because i felt my community could benefit from the added exposure this script would give it. i'm sorry my hearts just not pure enough for me to bang out RC's seven days a week without getting paid. yeah it'd be nice to get BOTM and imo i deserve it for how innovative GRPS has been in regards to enhancements for vBulletin alone, but i don't control the votee. and yeah i'd love to say that my inbox was ringing with donations but it hasn't. however despite all this i continue to work hard to provide the best product that i possibly can.

You talk about the installer? i have no idea what you're on about. i mean honestly. 90% of the problems regarding the installer have been an issue with people not knowing the relative path/directory of their forums. however did i let this deter me? no and as a result come RC9 having a feel for my "target" audience i took that bit out of their hands. the only problem with installation which cannot be called anything bar my fault is that it doesn't work from one sub domain to another. my bad, it's an unforeseen drama. however the alternative as unpretty as it may be is to run the script below the forums directory. now if that's what you call an incomplete installer so be it. i call that an end-user problem in which i've again and again, been willing to check out peoples forums and give them the exact text they need to input. bare in mind, so such a simple task people over at vBulletin.com are being paid for this.

As for complaints about SQL errors? where? as far as i can count, there's maybe two, three as a stretch experiencing time-outs and as a result, i've agreed to look into them. that's as far as it goes.

Now in all honesty, knowing that RC10 is literally that bug (the time-out one, which requires further feedback) and 'fixing' an unforeseen vBulletin option, i think i'm well within my right to say that you're scaremongering and for no good reason at all. You're more than entitled to give your opinion, but don't defend it when it's so cheap and uneducated.

But alas all of this is just my opinion.

1) Sorry -- when I re-installed the hack it reset the permissions. Guest permissions are on so you can see the groups: www.churchmedia.net/groups

2) Yeah, the groups dir is in the site root. The custom avatars are in /CMN/customavatars/

3) Right -- it's pointing to the right dir, but I just don't have an image called grps_noimage_9.gif. Not a big deal.

4) I did change my home URL from my forums URL. So home is set to http://www.churchmedia.net and forums is set to http://www.churchmedia.net/CMN/

Thanks for your help on this. I think the main problem is getting the avatars to point to the right directory. If we can nail that, I think I'm ready to go live with it. :)1/ see below.

Well, I use this on a forum with over 600,000 users. There's a few pages within the script that timeout. I'm thinking it's a query causing the page to hang.

Is there anyway I can print out all queries in a page so I can run them myself to see which is causing the hang?

groups.php is one of the scripts.this is what i would suggest for you to do.

1/ close your board temporarily (about 15 minutes downtime)

2/ open your config.php and add to the top of it (around line 22) $config['Misc']['debug'] = TRUE;

3/ go to each of the pages that give you the timeout problems and at the bottom of your page click on "Explain" is you can't get that far then simply ammend to the url to show &explain=1 at the end.

4/copy and paste (ctrl+a => ctrl+c) the contents of that page to an email and mark each email with the page i.e. groups.php.

5/email them to the address at the bottom of the instructions (install.txt)

6/ when you've sent all of them, then email me and i'll review them.

while i think i know what the problem could be, i really need confirmation.

I look forward to the RC10. At the moment none of the images are being displayed other than the ones in groups/ folder. I am testing it at my personal computer and so far am unable to set the chdir path.

Here is the path I am currently using:

What should be the chdir path? Images work once I copy the entire styles directory to gold\ .. I've tried changing the pathin chdir and it gives me:

Ya ../ works best. Everything works for me over on my site, except the reply button, which is being forced to work in RC10. Other than that, no problems installing, no other issues. With the images you just need to make sure in your style you've put in the full path to the image folders so instead of /images/whatever its http://yoursite.com/images/whatever

Ya it gets a bit messed up on the reputation icon.. you have to go into the settings and you'll see a part where it replaces code/images... there is a part where it looks for reputation and it replaces it with a blank image I think... try and play around with that.

But with a little bit of playing around it is fixable. Depends on the board and how much they've hacked up their postbit I guess.

i just played with your css on my end and finding all instances of background-image: url(/images/junglebook2/
and replacing with
background-image: url(/forum/images/junglebook2/
in order for you to do that on your end for all your users, you'll have to edit the additional css in your AdminCP => Styles & Templates => All Style Options

that'll get most of it working, but to do the rest, you'll actually have to edit the html in the header. tis not too hard.

I am very suprized by your responce. just because my site has an issue and related to your hack why should I have to wait for resolution until someone else experiances the same issue. This is like driving a vehicle that has a brake problem and only that vehicle has the issue but no other vehicle does, should the dealer treat you any different :(
