AndrewD,
1) Thanks, I will look at the filmstrip extra.
2) Yes, if by "flagging" you mean that that entry is shown in the "Last Post" column. :)

AndrewD,
1) Thanks, I will look at the filmstrip extra.
2) Yes, if by "flagging" you mean that that entry is shown in the "Last Post" column. :)

You can achieve (2) as follows:

- VB admincp/plugins and products
- Go to plugin manager
- Delete the plugin called Links and Downloads Manager - Patch forumhome
- Go to download and upload plugins
- Upload the attached file

This will be slightly slower than the standard code, but with a usual sized LDM database (i.e. assuming that you do not have thousands of nested categories) the effect should not be serious.

Edit - I just changed this plugin.

I will include this modification as an extra in the next release - I don't think it's wise to make this the standard behaviour.

Thank you for the fast response, the new plugin works perfectly.
As for the filmstrip extra, I decided to wait for the 2.2.9 release and use it then.

Thanks again for a great product and great support.

AndrewD, the recent entries plugin that updates the latest post from the subcategories on the forumhome page (post #3002 ) works great, one little bug: it shows posted entries that are not yet approved by the moderator. Can it be modified to only show entries that already passed moderation? Thanks!

problem solved, downgraded to 2.8

I assume that you had installed the "2.2.8 patch-category-attack" extra with the 2.2.9 LDM code? This is not necessary - 2.2.9 includes the safeguard within the main code.

somebody else obviously had the same problem I had and found the same solution :)

edit includes/local_links_include.php. cache_styles appears three times - at about lines 1120, 1145 and 1157. Change each of them to, e.g., ldm_cache_styles. That should solve the problem. I'll fix this permanently in the next release.

Phew fixed my problem too :up:

Hi,

is there any solution to integrate the ldm_new module into ajaxtabs (http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25189) ?

There are some instructions (http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showpost.php?p=127764&postcount=3)to build an own tab with vba modules but i did not get it working. Perhaps you can have a look at this andrew.

It's not done automatically, for good reason.

You have to create a link into LDM and there are several ways to do this. For example, you can edit your navbar template, create a forum link or use the vbadvanced modules.

Take a look at the wiki - http://www.eirma.org/wikis/index.php/Installing_LDM

If you upgrade to version 2.2.9 (which works with both vb 3.6 and 3.7), the installation also includes two plugins which automatically include LDM and LDM search to the main vb navbar.

no idea?

I got this working with LDM.

See attached files, which are tabmodule scripts for the ldm_hot and ldm_new vba modules. Basically, they provide wrappers around the ldm scripts. You will need to edit them to pre-set variables which are normally preset on the vbadvanced page. (If this works and is popular, I'll see how I can pick up the values from the vba database tables.)

These wrappers require that you have already installed the ldm_new/ldm_hot modules, i.e. that your modules subdirectory contains ldm_new.php and ldm_hot.php. If not, copy ldm_new.php and ldm_hot.php from the development/vba_modules/php directory in the LDM release zip.

As far as I can tell, these work with ldm versions 2.2.8 and 2.2.9/vb 3 and vb 3.7

However, If you are already using ldm 2.2.9, you also need the attached update to the vba module code and template, as I overlooked the vbulletin CSRF fix in the release version.

The file local_links_init.php is contained in the includes/ subdirectory of the release zipfile and uploaded into the forums/includes/ subdirectory.

Open the file using a text editor and find these lines:

if ($_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"]) {
define('LDM_DOCUMENT_ROOT', $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"]);
}
else {
// If you are running the IIS web server in CGI mode on Windows or if otherwise warned, uncomment and edit this line
// define('LDM_DOCUMENT_ROOT', '/path/to/your/site');
}

You need to replace the line

// define('LDM_DOCUMENT_ROOT', '/path/to/your/site');

by the correct directory path to your web site, e.g.:

define('LDM_DOCUMENT_ROOT', '/data/www-root/mysite');

You can generally figure out what is your '/data/www-root/mysite' by going to your vbulletin/admincp/maintenance/php info page, and taking a look at the listing. I can't easily tell you what line to look for, as I do not have a windows-based IIS server available.

If you have problems with this, send me a PM with site details and a username/password for an account with admin privs on your board, and I'll take a look myself.

A quick note: the hosted Windows server we use does define DOCUMENT_ROOT but does so incorrectly (for this purpose) so I found I had to comment out the whole of the if ($_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"]) code except the required line - e.g.//if ($_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"]) {
// define('LDM_DOCUMENT_ROOT', $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"]);
//}
//else {
// If you are running the IIS web server in CGI mode on Windows or if otherwise warned, uncomment and edit this line
define('LDM_DOCUMENT_ROOT', '\\servername\domains\mysite.com\user\htdocs\testv b');
//}

On our Windows server (I don't know if this is the same for others) the _SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT" variable found in the "View PHP Info" section of the vB control Panel gives the path to \admincp\index.php so just removing that part of the path gives you the full path to the forum home directory on that server which is what you need to enter for the definition of LDM_DOCUMENT_ROOT.

Can anyone tell me why or if this is an option to change when a PDF is downloaded from the links and downloads manager it actually has the name of the file as the default saving option. As far as I recall, this is dependent on the browser and other installed addins on your system. LDM sends the correct headers to tell the browser to give a file its correct name, but the local settings can override them

Ok, I thought that I had the kinks worked out but...

How do I change the forum-based access permissions for the categories? I have set up a paid subscription to access the downloads from the download manager, but it's not giving the subscribers access...

default_forumid = SOTB Club Scrap
default_forumid defines the default forum for the forum-based access permissions system. If set, access to new categories/entries is by default only available to usergroups with can view forum and can view others threads access rights to that forum
Currently no categories/entries are using the forum-based access permissions system

I am only able to turn access on to every registered user or none at all. It won't recognize the permissions set in vbulletin for the paid subscribers...

Thanks in advance,
Dani

Did you set default_forumid *after* creating the entries and categories? Entry and category associated forums are set at the moment you create the entry/category, and do not get changed automatically when you modify default_forumid.

The easiest way to update the forum associations is on the LDM->admin->mass edits page. Select the categories you want to update, select the Parent Forum button, choose the SOTB Club Scrap forum and check the "Also make this forum the parent of all entries currently in the category" box, and submit the form.

Sorry if this is confusing. I am happy to take a look at your site if you want (PM me details, including a username/password with admin rights)

I'm assuming that you are trying to run LDM 2.2.8-post1 with vb 3.6.12.

I set up a clean installation of these two (you are fortunate - I still had the vb36 code but had to create a new test website to try it out :)), and the error you report does not occur.

Unfortunately, I have not got the time to track this down, but I can't find a release of LDM in which line 1151 of local_links_include.php would trigger this message, so you might want to check that you've got all the correct code installed. There is no problem in re-installing version 2.2.7 - just follow the usual process.

Ok, thanks. one last thing please, where can I download v 2.2.7 again?

Thanks Andrew.

I have looked some more at the code for ldm 2.2.7 and 2.2.8, and think I know the cause of your problem. It is not specifically related to ldm 2.2.8 - rather, I think it is likely to be an interaction between ldm and another hack that you installed at the same time as upgrading to 2.2.8. This problem was fixed in version 2.2.9, but unfortunately that will not work with vb3.6.

I have no idea which version of ldm 2.2.7 you were using, but I doubt that you will correct the problem by downgrading.

If necessary, I can suggest a fix, but it will require making an edit to one of the code files.

The following should do the trick.

Edit includes/local_links_include.php.

Find all three occurances of "cache_styles". (In 2.2.8 post 1, these are at lines 1120, 1145 and 1157.) Change cache_styles to ldm_cache_styles. Save.

Your problem is that your server has a very recent version of php which has different error handling in certain situations. The problem can be resolved by editing the file includes/local_links_include.php and replacing the code for function catcmp (lines 868 to 897 in your version, I think) with the attached.

Take care with the edit, and keep a copy of the original - I haven't supported version 2.2.6 for a long time and hope that the fix does not create new problems.
