twitter isn't a fad
but as stated above, all these can be integrated into our forums, why fight it when we can all live in harmony

To survive, you have to adapt. The people at companies like vbulletin know this. Those employees also have a house note, children, car note, electric bill, water bill - just like the rest of us. The employees at VB have a financial interest in staying with the times.

I am pretty sure that companies like vbulletin will adapt to the changes across social networks. But, I suspect that some of that free forum software will be left in the dust - sooner or later. Something new will come along to replace the old and outdated.

Will forums die off - no. But I suspect that they will change the ways that interface with users.

Conversely, the engine of forums are need based, whether it's fun or for information and of all ages. I don't think a 40 year old man wants to exchange "gifts" on Facebook for any length of time or at all but they'll log into a forum for gaming or prostate cancer information. This is why forums will alway exist. Twitter and Facebook do not have the seqeuntial interactive abilty necessary to facility information based browsing. I find Facebook annoying as hell. I'm sorry I don't want to exchange virtual plants and animals when I'm looking for people or information.

I think the drive-through aspect of forum software will always remain appealing.

I was thinking about what I would say, then I read your post. I really don't have any better way to put it. Forums do so much more than Twitter, Facebook or MySpace.

You're right in that respect, but I feel as though your analogy is being misused. I think it's the difference between getting a new car when your fancy car is getting older, and buying a park bench when your fancy car is getting older. Did that make sense? Things always make less sense to me when I go back and reread it.

totally agree with you m8

Also i dont use Twitter/Facebook for the simple reason they dont appeal to me.
Friends in the past should stay in the past as far as im concerned.
Real and true friends would always know how to contact you without having to look for you on facebook etc.
