I've installed a Twitter-like system for some doctors that want to cooperate, and I'm surprise of the concept...
So I thought: vB with its 'cold-static interface' will survive the technology trends? p.s. and Mr Spock is really dead? ![]() |

Mr Spock is not dead, where did you read that, he is 327 years old now... tsss
the interface can be modified with template edits and css, i don't see why this could be a problem, you know it, you play with your style for so long.. ![]() |

BBS, they were transformed into the actual forums, they are just the same, a place where to chat... the difference is that you do not need your modem to connect to them. i know, i managed some of the biggest bbs in my country in that period, i know where they are gone now...
ICQ is like MSN and AIM, they will just merge into a fluid system... IRC (not mIRC) is just an old text interface, and they announced the vanishment of IRC when Palace arised... looks like Palace died of its own greatness... Online Sims are doing the same... (actually, Palace have a vBulletin for forum... a Visual Chat that needs a forum to help outside the shell...) all these gadgets are just interfaces that can be changed... using flash, javascript or simple ajax is not different... only one goal, participate in a chat... personal webpages were no match for Blogs, now blogs are merging with personal pages to make more complete sites... where does this is going?!... there is no answer, just questions... |

Twitter type sites are a fad. Bulletin boards (message boards) have stood the test of time. LOL at something thats been around for 2 years now...lol
Once people realize how much privacy they're giving away, (will happen soon) everyone will stop using them... and go back to just shooting the shit talking about subjects on boards... not letting everyone know they just bought a new pair of thongs and their dog pooped in their soup bowl... and they're stuck in line at Tim Hortons... |

I heard the same thing about myspace... then facebook came along... 3 year lifespan they have... BWAHAHAHA
Its Twitter's turn now... and in 2012... BLIMPERBOOPOO.com and in 2015... you will still have message boards and myspace will be the area under my bed, and facebook will be a photo album in my drawer.... and twitter is what my roomate will be doing when I come home from work and he's lying on the floor... |

Twitter is like online texting for the whole world. It could stay around for awhile, it seems popular enough haha
But I agree about forums in a way. A lot of places are going for full "communities" with all that crap added into it, and a forum. So, yeah they will out live most fads...but there will always be a place for all those other things. |

Facebook and Twitter aren't even really the same type of experience as a forum. They don't efficiently support any sort of topic discussion, they just give people a place to document their latest bowel movements or what they're currently eating in their cubicle.
