Probably simple but searched everywhere..displaying a widget..

I clicked "add new widget" (and selected "Recent Threads Widget), so it displays in the widget list. But how do I actually get it to display on the CMS. I don't see an option to select it in the grid...

I have a variable in my "results_bit" like this:

$row[column_2];

It's a unix timestamp, so I'd like to format it into a time/date. I know I can do it in Smarty so I imagine I can do it...
