Of course, in case if you want WordPress users to have a single sign-on. At this moment plugin is not designed to do export of the users at once. If moves only the users to WordPress on demand as soon as they are logged in to vBulletin. If you just need to move users it would make more sense to create a migration for your project and would be able to help wit this. We will consider the achievements of your goal if you drop us a PM message in more details.

The new version of the product is almost ready to come out. It actually supports the connection of multiple forums to a single master's vBulletin.

The original credentials and stored in master's vBulletin instance. The vBulletin instance might be chosen on your own. All the connected platforms have no access to passwords, and the users located on the connected platforms are authenticated through master's vBulletin instance.

Updates are just finally came out and could be grabbed from http://vbsso.com/download/ to inspire vBulletin 3.x compatibility and connection of multiple vBulletin forum instances.

Followed the posted instructions, tested platforms are VB 3.8 and WP 3.4 Multisite/Network. At first, the single sign on was working no problem. However, after logging in and posting comments with a couple test accounts it does not seem to work any more.
I visit the wordpress site and click log-in. VbSSO then redirects to Vb forum to log-in, and then redirects back to the wordpress site, however the user is never logged in and remains a guest. I also cannot log out of the super admin account. Any thoughts?

These error messages don't actually mean that this mod is a cause of the conflict, etc. Probably that external mod "Advanced Link Posting Option" might conflict and be the one which generates these errors instead of vBSSO (vBSSO shows the errors that happen across all the vB modules). We will look through it anyway and check if we would be able to reproduce the similar issue using that external mod.

Please note that these are not the errors. These are the warnings that might appear in some of your custom modules.

Here is another Joomla user that would like a solution that syncs vBulletin users better than jfusion and includes the profile picture and/or avatar which jfusion doesn't. I've been meaning to try WP so I'm looking forward to giving this intriguing mod a try.

Unfortunately we are not able to publish the release date of Joomla plugin, one note that it was planned to be released right after Drupal plugin is released next month. So, we would recommend to keep watching and we are doing all the best to get it released in autumn.

Hi,

In your first case it seems you tried to log in from WordPress. Originally the user is being redirected to the page where he starts login process from. If the login is initiated from WordPress it redirects to WordPress, if it is initiated from vBulletin it redirects to vBulletin :)

If you have a different behavior please verify that non of your other plugins break or conflict with vBSSO.

I'm not asking about the install. That part seems easy enough. I'm talking about how good it looks integrating Wordpress and vBulletin. I'm considering doing this over buying vB CMS software but want to see some example sites of how others have integrated WP+vB. Haven't found a single example yet.

mathforum, there isn't much of a visual or theme integration between WP and vB. This plugin simply shares users between platforms.

I am connecting multiple existing WP blogs to my VB forums so that people can participate on Wordpress without the hassle of registering another new account for each blog.

I would suggest trying out WP first since it is free anyways. You can use the RSS feeds from vbulletin to automatically cross post threads to WP as blog entries and vice versa.

This is a great wee plugin, easy to setup and configure if your server has the relevant settings done correctly, however the issue with not being able to 'save stylesheets to files' is still around. Is this being looked into or does anyone know of a fix for that?

This is a great wee plugin, easy to setup and configure if your server has the relevant settings done correctly, however the issue with not being able to 'save stylesheets to files' is still around. Is this being looked into or does anyone know of a fix for that?

So, the method works properly. It generates the url to WordPress and once user clicks on that url in case of enabled vBSSO WordPress plugin, the plugin redirects to the correct vBulletin author's page.

Currently vBSSO doesn't pass the user id to vBulletin, however it's easy to extend the script to get it done and pass ID from vBulletin to WordPress during the authentication process. You are personally free to extend the script or donate to let us include this feature to the next release of the plugins. Thanks.

I have installed the VB and the WP plugins.

Out of the box, if a new user signs up to the VB - then a new user appears in the WP - Great.

Access Settings lets you restrict login access for the users from a vBulletin certain User Groups to get access to the connected WordPress or other platforms. The setting doesn't reflect just created / registered users if they are not in a specified group. Is it answering your question?

You did create accounts and did not specified email address for each registered one. Make sure you have email specified, additionally have no duplicated accounts (accounts with multiple similar email addresses) and your administrative WP account matches to your vBulletin account (username and email).

Some of your plugins might render something out of the proper way or there is a php warning or note comes out somewhere. Let's try to disable your other plugins temporarily step by step and see which of them impacted to that issue.

The connection of 2 vB using vBSSO is done, OK. Unfortunately both of them can make a post, either in master or slave. How to able to make a post in both of vBulletin.

Ah, I've got it. vBSSO supports single sign-on out of the box so far and if you want to sync posts and other info - that should be a custom implementation on top of the vBSSO solution.

If you wait for a week, the new version of the vBSSO WordPress plugin comes out providing the login widget. So you would be able to put it into any section you want and keep using the single sign-on.

Some of the users had the similar issue when their firewall blocked the requests. Please verify it or additionally enable DEBUGGING Logging Level in vBSSO and see what the logs say.

Debug Logging Level is basically switched as described at http://vbsso.com/platforms/vbulletin/. Yes, that could be a firewall issue, it might block requests being done via curl.

Please read carefully what is told at www.vbsso.com, "Automatically log into third party applications when you log into vBulletin". vBulletin stands as a master system for authentication - not the WordPress. Your users use vBulletin login to get into WordPress, but not vice versa.

The version is supposed to be compatible with the latest multiple Media Wiki versions 1.19, 1.20. On your own we would be thankful if you can check it on earlier versions.

There exist a lot of the different mobile apps to manage WordPress, vBulletin, etc. Do there any guaranties they use WordPress, vBulletin API correspondingly to do login via web? They might use different authentication approach and steps.

Hi Nick, As far as I know that modifications with groups shouldn't be a cause, the plugin on wiki side works well - support team has checked it, something goes on the vB side. Support team replied in your message and hope to get your connection running smoothly.

We can discuss features here, but we don't solve issues and provide any support through this thread.

The vBSSO permissions are not permissions related to vBulletin or Mediwiki, that's vBSSO own permissions to restrict access for single sign-on. You should configure your vBulletin and Mediawiki permissions separately as they should be configured. vBSSO doesn't know anything about your admin roles or other roles. The single sign-on is handled the same for all the users.

I use this Plugin for some time now and I like it very well.

Sometime I had to delete or merge users on my vBulletin. Both actions take no effect on my connected wordpress.

At the moment I also try to integrate vbsso into my own php project. After I figured out how your plugin works (and after integrating my own detailed logging) it was really easy and works great. Just one thing is missing on your side. I need to change userfields (Name and Avatar) on my part.

So can you implement these three features, or any?
- Send delete to connected platforms
- Send merge to connected platforms
- Receive profile changes from other platforms

Can someone help me understand exactly how the 'vBSSO Access Settings ' options should be configured just to sync vbulletin 'registered user' and WP 'subscriber' ? My goal is to allow my logged in VB 'registered users' to comment on my WP posts and have their VB username and avatar appear next to the WP post comment.

Currently, I have success with connecting my VB 4.2 and WP 3.5, but when I navigate from VB to WP it does not show me as a logged in user in the WP post comment form unless I manually log in via the vbsso login form WP widget. Then it does show me as logged in in the comment form as desired.

Here are the 3 fields - I'm too dense to figure out exactly what they mean w/o an example:

Allowed User Groups
User groups having access to any platform (separated by comma)

Allowed WordPress User Groups
User groups having access to WordPress platform (separated by comma)

Associated WordPress User Groups
User groups associating visitors from WordPress platform (separated by comma)

Update: shortly after posting the above I logged in with the vbsso WP widget, and then logged out w/ the VB logout link and noticed that it also logged me out of WP, then I logged in again w/ the VB login and it also logged me into WP as desired. This was after I cleared everything from all of the 'access settings' fields and just left them blank. So I learned that by leaving all 3 fields blank, a VB registered user becomes a WP subscriber by default.

When I log in as VB admin, my WP role is also 'Subscriber' by default, so now I just need to know how to set it up to sync VB administrator as WP administrator...?

i tried adding Administrator and Administrators to all 3 fields in all possible combos to no avail. maybe I'm not supposed to be able to get in to WP admin w/ VB admin role?

Hi S S0DEN, please keep in mind that you correctly using vBSSO. Keep in mind that it was originally designed to log in to WordPress and other CMS via vBulletin account. It wasn't designed the way you are using it.

I've recently upgrade my Vbulletin, and mediawiki, and today have install the 2 parts of vbsso for vb and mediawiki.

I'm getting a blank page in the VB admincp on 3 pages.
- Connect a platform
- connection settings
- Access settings.

All the others show up fine.

I had drupal 7.17 and vBulletin 4.20 working great until i updated drupal to 7.18.

Is there any know issues with this version of drupal?

When i try to hit http://drupalserver/vbsso/1.0 page I now just get a 404 error

It sounds like an .htaccess issue. The file wasn't changed between the versions, however you might add custom rules there.

Hi rwoscott, it sounds like you have a custom name for your admincp panel and probably have .htaccess file with a RewriteCond and RewriteRule managing the rules improperly. Could you please verify this on your side and see if that might be your reason?

I just deleted some old files laying around from previous plugins, and when I returned to admincp, the pages are now available.

Hi sweetpotato, by default WordPress doesn't accept usernames in Vietnamese language. If you have a lot of such usernames in vBulletin we would recommend you to hire a developer to customize vBSSO WordPress plugin based on your needs or contact vbsso support and order the customization.

It looks like you try to connect the same forum to itself. It doesn't seem to be correct. You should use WordPress url address and connect WordPress url to forum.

It sounds like you have a buggy product installed on your vBulletin. Could you please try to disable one by one there and see which one is a cause of the endless redirect?

I think I have this figured out; wasn't aware it created a new user on the other forum; we have massive spam-filters built in given the size of the two forums and that was sending new users into an approval queue.

Still testing with other sites.

If second's users do not exist in 1st forum, you should migrate them to 1st forum. The migration is not implemented yet in vBSSO, however it is in tasks list.

The similar issue was fixed in vBSSO vBulletin 1.4.9, which is going to be released soon. We recommend everybody to upgrade to the latest one as soon as it comes out.

Many thanks for the new version, but for our forum it seems to work even less.
At first I tried to upgrade from 1.4.8 to 1.4.9. It warned me about two or three conflicting hooks and seemed to be installed only partially. Therefore I uninstalled it entirely and tried a clean install. This results in "Importing add-on. Please wait" being displayed forever without any noticable progress.

I've removed the new hook checking code from the installer, just to see whether this helps - and it did. The AddOn installed, but the link with Wordpress still does not work (same problem as before). I guess it's due to the hook conflicts that vbSSO warns about.

/Edit: Ah, I've also adjusted access rights to the log directory. I'm not sure whether this or the modified installer made the installation work.

Hi TiKu, It's not a problem of subdomain. There might be different problems, for example recently we helped an user who had a broken vBulletin installation with missing files that was a cause for login problems. I've recently discovered my Android app wasn't working. Not sure if the iOS version had the same problem, but most likely it did.

Here's what would happen. If I tried to login with VBSSO active with *correct* credentials (if you provide invalid, the error is 'invalid username/password') it would say
Error code error logging you in...

So what I did was I went into the plugin manager and found the VBSSO plugins that hook into login_redirect and logout_redirect and encapsulated the code

i.e. vBSSO Login Redirect

Original:

vbsso_login_redirect_hook();


Modified:

I did that to logout_redirect (since if you didn't, you'd have an error logging out too) and just in case, the login bit too. It works and I don't see any issues! Hope this helps.

And how come my Admin-group from vB4 can login to wordpress, but regular users can't?

I'm using this product to connect VB to WP.

Every time a user is logged on VB, a new user is created into the wordpress database.

My VB board has 88,000 users and I've many contents stored into some tables in vb database connected to a vbulletin plugin called "Vbadvanced".A simple CMS.

I need to migrate these contents to WP using some mysql queries, but I couldn't get whole users into wp database until they have made at least one login.

There's a trick to import all users from VB to WP database without forcing a simple login?

This is very important for my job.

I am having an issue installing this on the vBulletin side of things. I uploaded the contents of the upload folder into the respective locations and then went to install the vbsso xml product file via the admin of vBulletin. I get the following error when trying to install the xml file:

2. Glowhost is showing errors when enabled. This is sorta bad since this is one of the most important and most used plugin for the VB community.

I'm thinking about trying this out. Does the WP database and the vB database have to be combined? I have a separate database for each. I read through most of the comments but I did not see anything about database in your description or in the comments posted.

It's not required, you can have two databases separately and vBSSO supports it well.

1) It shouldn't happen. If it's reproducible if you disable all your other products, please contact vBSSO support, and provide them accurate scenario how to reproduce this and they will help you to resolve this.

2) There should be instructions while vBSSO pops the error how to fix Glowhost plugins and make this working.

It's not required, you can have two databases separately and vBSSO supports it well.

Just to test it out I uploaded everything one more time and installed the xml file again. I still had the same issue. I'm going to remove it from the system. Give me an update if you are able to correct this. I know most use Linux servers, and I've had to deal with issues from a lot of modifications.
