So I worked my way around the DB error by re-installing 6.2 and then installing 7.2 again and now this happens to GUEST ONLY.

I think I'm about to give up on this mod, lol.

Okay, we found a minor glitch. If you experience lag, disable vBulletin Facebook Connect for this verison, as we will have it fixed in the next version.

P.S For those that are experiencing the db issues, you can either 1. delete those existing columns from phpmyadmin > user > structure > (the ln_ ) tables, or wait for a version with fixes. Seems like the uninstall doesn't completley uninstall it and thus a duplicate column is is being created/prevented)

Yep - theres a setting at the bottom of vbsocial settings:

Enable fixed livenotificaion header?
Set to no
Enable fluid fixed livenotificaion header?
Set to yes

Alright, i did those settings, i put the code where i want it, but the icons line up vertically and i need them horizontal, how would i got about making them horizontal? I am trying to get this mod to work with Header Rework 4 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=257261) and i want the icons to replace where it says Last Activity: in that mod. WHen i put your code in its location, i get them lined up vertically on the box after each line.

Edit: These 2 mods conflict with eachother and i don't know how to resolve it myself. >8(

My forums sees 1.3-1.6 million visits a month and churns a ton of bandwidth as its all art and images...and this tech does not function well with that amount of traffic going through it. Simply remove these 4 lines from the .xml, then try to run the .xml again.

So now i'm back to square one.

I followed your first post which says put{vb:raw fixed_livenotifications_header}in the header as I have a customised theme.

At this point I then had two bars, one right at the top and one almost just below it. Then I went in to the settings and set "Is template automatic edit on?" to No. This removed the lower bar.

So now I'm back to having the bar right at the top which is great, but the icons are still low down. It must be something to do with my header, maybe because I have a wrapper that's causing it?

Have automatic edit on. If you get two bars, that just means that code above exists twice in your header somewhere.

Search templates for it, and then remove one of them.

Awesome I got it working. I narrowed it down to the vbulletin-chrome.css template. There were lots of top paddings set to 65px instead of the default 3px which I think I change previously for an old modification.

This might be premature in asking, but I noticed I could not click the Facebook link button and has the Facebook latency problem been fixed? I have always been very interested in your product, but it has to work well enough on a very active large board. Bugs I can handle even squash myself as long as the core product is solid and adds only an appropriate amount to the server load.

I know you are early in the release cycle so I am really only concerned about the latency problems that we discussed in version 7. Looking forward to the release. :)

This might be premature in asking, but I noticed I could not click the Facebook link button and has the Facebook latency problem been fixed? I have always been very interested in your product, but it has to work well enough on a very active large board. Bugs I can handle even squash myself as long as the core product is solid and adds only an appropriate amount to the server load.

I know you are early in the release cycle so I am really only concerned about the latency problems that we discussed in version 7. Looking forward to the release. :)

2. The whole system is based on users getting posts based on threads related to them rather than irrelevant notifications. If your interested in removing the "Whats new tab" the ultimate version allows for ability to add links in user drop down, as well as logo dropdown. Just add the link there.

I just uploaded this, but noticing a couple things with the Facebook feeds/display.

I have the More Share Options TNG by BOP5 mod installed, that adds the social buttons on every page. And it was working before I installed Social.

Here is a screenshot of it before:

Well I tried this. I uploaded the files and my mistake was allowing over wright of my files maybe.
I first didnt like my banner was gone. I decided to disable it but my banner didnt come back. then I uninstalled it. This didnt fix it either and my server wants to charge me $75. to back up my site with yesterdays backup after i did a ton of work on my site today.

We'll be in 9.0 very shortly. Usertagging is in beta, so for some users it works, and others it does not. Seems to conflict at the moment with other mods.

I can't speak for vBulletin releases, but members on here sharing free mods, usually make these on a test site, and try to find as many issues as they can.

Sometimes it is quite difficult to test things when you are working alone on something. Every software / mod ever released has some kind of bugs with it. If it were kept in development till there were no bugs at all, it would have to be updated again, as the core software the mod was developed for probably would have been changed by then.

Another thing is some bugs don't show up in a testing environment, that may show up on another users server.

Well that issue is fixed is the next version. We run all vbulletin suites, and this was the first time someone used it on just a forum. Interestingly enough the software works if you have suite installed, but cms disabled. Anways sorry for the hard aches.

I also like to say, the reason theres been bugs is because we've been trying to tackle several major issues of functionality, the plugin integrates login, facebook, social reputation, dynamic realtime notifications, dropdowns, a different approach to search, user profiles, settings, and navigation etc all in one plugin. Getting it perfect just takes time, and we're almost there.

Did you upload vbsocial.php to admincp in ftp? The other possibility is that your just running a vBulletin forum, and not the vbulletin suite. This issue is fixed in the next version coming soon.

vBSEO Temp fix:
Not entirely sure of the negative effects of this fix towards vBSEO's plugin, but it allows full functionality for vBSocial Notifications and almost full functionality for vBSEO. (Meaning dropdowns will open elsewhere and thread urls will be in tact) I did notice.

Steps:
1. Go into admincp, open Plugins & Products > Plugin Manager
2. Find the section for vBSEO, there is about "100+ hooks".
Disable these two hooks:
vBSEO Global Hook
vBSEO Process Templates Complete
by unchecking the box to the right for both, and save.

3. Check to see if main urls in vbseo still okay, and dropdowns work.
Done.

If anyone can find a fix better than this please post below. This will disable some functionality of vBSEO, but from what I've seen, I still have same post and thread urls, which is most important to vBSEO.

Hi I'm having the same issue as the user before me. After I click on notifications or messages the loading gif will not go away. a refresh of the page will stop it but only to return if I click on it again.

You should really try this version 9 out. All the hassle has been fixed and installation is a breeze this time around, and bugs have been sorted out. Its' been re-built from ground up, optimized far better than the older versions and runs of shared to dedicated servers.

Yeah i still have this when i tried to upload the XML via admincp. after this security alert i had to upload to /xml folder and then add it to plugins via admincp.

Most major sites use a bar now to help faciliate in the flow of the website, and provide easy access to the user.

The rss problem seems to happen when a google bot is checking out the site & clicks on a rss button in a forum on the forum home page. I currently cannot have the site live because no one would be able to change their profile and that really defeats the entire purpose.

Your first error is to do with vBSocial Notifications.
Seems like your installation didn't go well. I would uninstall the .xml, which would remove the db entries. And then reinstall the .xml with overwrite checked.


Your second one may be with vBSocial Wall. Disable that and see if the error goes away.

The first suggestion worked and I can now update the profile. I've disabled the Wall and that was not the cause of the database error with the RSS, so I'll go through my mods that I have installed and see which one is causing the issue. Thanks for your help! :)

Some use www instead or home. To find your directory structure if you scroll down after expanding your left side menu in the admincp you will see "View PHP Info" click that and then scroll almost to the bottom to find your root directory.

OK, we got it working - the post table alterations screwed up a bit during install, likely due to the large size if our table. Manually fixed now.

So this notification bar is very elegant. It's a nice little product. It does have a flaw though - anyone who zooms in the display (elderly or poor sighted people who do that as a matter if course; folks on small screens or mobile screens) runs into a major display issue - the bar doesn't zoom like the rest of the page, it just takes up more and more rows on the page, obscuring everything. It effectively cripples the basic browser accessibility options.

In normal case scenarios, though, it's great!

DOCUMENT_ROOT /home/ultimate/public_html

So if you need to know what the root of your server for your page is that will give you the info you need just look for DOCUMENT_ROOT in the PHP Info page.

Are you trying to install this mod? If so then you need to use the FTP to upload your files and to get started in installing the mod. You upload the files into your forum directory. That is where ever your forum resides whether its in the root or its in a directory called forum, forums, board etc. In order to use the FTP feature you will need a FTP program I suggest Filezilla (https://filezilla-project.org/) if its not something you use everyday, Its free and works on ANY OS (Windows, Mac, Linux).

Yes they recently changed servers and they had said there were some things they were working on and fixing. So far David has helped me with the issues I had on my site. They were slow to reply because of the recent server change.

It's being sold (I bought it yesterday for $99) but I don't think it's supported; getting support beyond a one-sentence vague reply every 24 hours is pretty hard work. I have it installed but it has some issues which need addressing, and apparently no updated version is currently scheduled until the developer has some more ideas for it (or something; I wasn't entirely clear on that reply!)

So I'm not sure what's happening, but I've posted a pile of bug reports over at the official site for this mod. Here are the current ones I've noticed:

- rep is not notifying
- rep no longer follows existing permissions
- the social bar is not compatible with mobile browsers, small screens, windows which are not maximized, or 'zoomed in' accessibility browser views
- the user tagging system does not work, and the developer won't provide help to integrate dbtechs, and dbtech won't provide help to integrate vbsocial

I haven't been able to get any resolution on any of these (replies tend to be limited to a vague sentence every 24 hours or so), and this thread on the official site (http://vbsocial.com/forum/showthread.php/1730) indicates the bug fixes are to be included in v10, but that v10 has not had work starting on it because "we need more concepts for 10.0 before build as well as other things were working on and supporting at the moment". I'd suggest that fixing the bugs - some of which were reported by others as far back as 2012 - constitute a perfectly reasonable 'concept' for an updated build.

So not currently supported, as far as I can tell. The existing bugs are pretty crippling, especially the lack of compatibility with a large swathe of browser/window sizes.

I did subscribe over there, but cancelled it as soon as the owner indicated that I should not expect any bug fixes within my 3-month subscription period.

I'll update here if anything changes. Hopefully those issues will get fixed, because it's an awesome mod with just a few crippling problems that shouldn't take long to resolve.

I'm surprised that this mod is working fine on VB4, without any problem. Most of the vbsocial mods have annoying bugs that make them half working. I think you need to keep it to only 2 or 3 products, work hard on those and make it bug free in short time. After that start with a new mod. That will make people happy. This mod is a good start though.

Replies to threads appear in the top notifications area, but the PM notifications are not working. I only get a pop up box in the bottom right corner for a second that disappears. Friend requests do not work as pictured in your screenshots as well. Is there something I am missing?

Sounds like you may have a conflicting plugin. Try on a local test server please before installing on live.
