Hello,
Your forums need to be open for public in order for the sitemap tool to work properly.

do i need to turn on the default vbulletin xmp sitemap function with this activated?
Hello,
No you don't. Having two sitemap tools serving the same content is not such a good idea. Besides, if you are running vBSEO on your site, the built in vB sitemap tool is not compatible with vBSEO'ed instances.

Hi all
Can someone tell me why, when I run the Report Generator manually it works fine, but if I leave it to run via the Scheduled Task then it takes 2 days to complete? See the time difference here...
The short time periods are when I ran it manually and the latest one was run by the cron, you can see it took over 48 hours to complete.
Thanks.

Hello,
I install the vBSEO just as it say in installation instructions
and the plugin working and i can access it with no problem.
But when i try to use http://www.orbks.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz
I get back to my site home page .
the reason , i use this ErrorDocument 404 /forums/index.php on the htaccess .
This problem should not happen. It happens if a page does not exist.
I know that the page exists, I see it in files.
What could be the problem?
I can send you the htaccess might be something there
Can help.
By the way I'm not at the root of the host VB installed under forums

The data writes to the vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder.
The htaccess file directs the link to load that location.
calling sitemap_index.xml.gz actually calls vbseo_sitemap/data/getsitemap.php?sitemap=index.xml.gz by way of the htaccess file.
Google wants your urls to reflect the folder it is in. So, unless you want to make your whole public html area writable (a stupid and horrible idea), using mod_rewrite is the way to do it.
This is the answer that I have been searching for...
Thank You!

That's a standard vBulletin sitemap, it has nothing to do with this modification.
On my google webmaster tools account when i click submit sitemap
I've add vbseo_sitemap after forum root url
After submit i see this error:
Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.
You do need to add the entire path to your sitemap, not just the folder.
eg: http://example.com/vbseo_sitemap/sitemap_index.xml

Hello cloferba,
Apologies for not getting back to you before.
You need to define your new password in the 'vBulletin Admin Control Panel -> vBSEO -> vBSEO Sitemap Settings' area. Once you are done, please make sure that the "vbseo_sitemap/" folder has permissions set to 755, *not* 777. The only directory that should be chmod'ed 777 is the "data/" folder.
In the same way, all of the files contained within the "vbseo_sitemap/" folder should be chmod'ed 644 in order to make them non-writable.

What can i do?I see in google that you have to put these: It is also advised to replace non-english characters in URLs. You can do so in your vBSEO CP -> General Settings -> Character Replacement -> Replace Non-English Characters in URLs?
But i dont have in the vbseo settings any option like that, i dont have character replacement. :(

The error is probably going to be with your .htaccess files. Give this a shot.
Your /forum directory .htaccess should contain:
(change RED text to match your site name)
# Comment the following line (add '#' at the beginning)
# to disable mod_rewrite functions.
# Please note: you still need to disable the hack in
# the vBSEO control panel to stop url rewrites.
RewriteEngine On
# Some servers require the Rewritebase directive to be
# enabled (remove '#' at the beginning to activate)
# Please note: when enabled, you must include the path
# to your root vB folder (i.e. RewriteBase /forums/)
#RewriteBase /
#RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.mysite\.com
#RewriteRule (.*) http://www.mysite.com/forums/$1 [L,R=301]
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap_).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(admincp/|modcp/|cron|vbseo_sitemap|api\.php)
RewriteRule ^((archive/)?(.*\.php(/.*)?))$ vbseo.php [L,QSA]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !/(admincp|modcp|clientscript|cpstyles|images)/
RewriteRule ^(.+)$ vbseo.php [L,QSA]
Then also add this to your root .htaccess (if your forum is not installed in the root):
(change RED text to match your site name)
# Comment the following line (add '#' at the beginning)
# to disable mod_rewrite functions.
# Please note: you still need to disable the hack in
# the vBSEO control panel to stop url rewrites.
RewriteEngine On
# Some servers require the Rewritebase directive to be
# enabled (remove '#' at the beginning to activate)
# Please note: when enabled, you must include the path
# to your root vB folder (i.e. RewriteBase /forums/)
#RewriteBase /forum
#RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.mysite\.com
#RewriteRule (.*) http://www.mysite.com/forum/$1 [L,R=301]
RewriteRule ^forum/((urllist|sitemap_).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ forum/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(admincp/|modcp/|cron|vbseo_sitemap|api\.php)
RewriteRule ^forum/((archive/)?(.*\.php(/.*)?))$ forum/vbseo.php [L,QSA]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !/(admincp|modcp|clientscript|cpstyles|images)/
RewriteRule ^(.+)$ forum/vbseo.php [L,QSA]

Assuming www.yoursite.com takes you directly to your forum (i.e. your forum is placed directly in your root).
Try this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap_).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(admincp/|modcp/|cron|vbseo_sitemap|api\.php)

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f

You (or them) just need to set server time out. It's a setting in my.cnf, they would know. Tell them what you told here. It could need few adjustments, or you could start with longer time right away.

Go to admincp/Maintenance/View PHP Info/ scroll down to mysql and look for mysql.connect_timeout. What is your local and master directive set at?

I'm guessing the answer is in this page.
With the completion of algorithmic transition to Bing, Yahoo! Search has merged Site Explorer into Bing Webmaster Tools. Webmasters should now be using the Bing Webmaster Tools to ensure that their websites continue to get high quality organic search traffic from Bing and Yahoo!.

Leave it that way. Your posts will be indexe through the thread views anyway and turning it on would merely lead to duplicate listings, which will not do much to propel you up Google's rankings.

Hadn't had an issue with this mod for over a year, until about a week ago.
Sitemap generations started giving Internal Server Errors (500) when generating a new sitemap. After trying a ton of different things to try and resolve it, I was finally able to get a sitemap to build without error by turning off "Auto-Notify Search Engines" in the settings. The time for creation of the sitemap after doing this went from an average of taking about 12-14 seconds over the last year down to taking less than 1 second (still getting all the links) with the auto-notify off.
This got me to thinking that when contacting the search engines it is waiting for some sort of response. The "500 Internal Server Error" error I have been getting over the last week with auto-notify turned was erroring out at about 1 min and 14 secs after starting the sitemap generation, which is exactly 1 minute longer than the standard creation time I had been seeing, so I believe the server is just timing out waiting for a response that it use to be getting before the last week or so.
Can someone report if they are having similar issues.
------------
Edit: Seems to definitely be related to just that one "Auto-Notify Search Engines" setting: Setting ON - get error, Setting OFF - works fine

I've noticed that if I run the Sitemap Generator manually from within vBSEO Sitemap Reports or it runs automatically from Scheduled Tasks - it does not pick up any forums without posts. But when running the cron job manually from Scheduled Tasks the empty forums will get picked up and added to the sitemap.
Anyone else experience/confirm this?

mod_rewrite is an Apache module that must be enabled on your server in order to use rewrite rules like "ReWriteRule ...".

Alright I'll need to know a couple things.
1) What is the structure of your website. Is your forum in the root or in a subdirectory like www.xxx.com/forums/?
2) Did an .htaccess file already exist or are you creating it new now?

I have an htaccess in the domain root, but not the forum directory, so I would be creating one.
Its important to note again. The htaccess in the domain root has redirects in it. The site used to be in the domain root, now its in the /forum/ directory, and those redirects are 301s to bring things from the old structure to the new.
I suspect that's the problem.

You are correct it is probably related to the root .htaccess redirects.
Try these two options (separately):
1) Try adding: "RewriteBase /forum" above the RewriteRule in your forum .htaccess
2. Try adding this above all your redirect rules in your website root: RewriteRule ^forum/((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ forum/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]

Let me recommend one other thing. Renaming forum.php to index.php. Then change the setting in Forums Home: Options - Script Name for Forum Home Page to also reflect this change. This way you can just direct users to http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/forum/

I tried to test the sitemap on your site but it appears your site is not live currently.
The only line in your htaccess that has to do with the vBSEO Sitemap is this one:
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap_).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
and it appears correct.
Edit:
Your site has some major speed problems and I believe it may at least be partially related to this line in your .htaccess:
RewriteRule ^/?$ "http\:\/\/wsogroupbuy\.com\/forum\.php" [R=301,L]

Well, it is not wrong but you will be sharing SEO weight between wsogroupbuy.com and wsogroupbuy.com/forum.php.
I personally would do this:
1) Rename what is currently index.php in your root folder to index.php_old
2) Rename forum.php to index.php
3) Change the script name setting in vB options from "forum" to "index". (see image below)
4) Remove the last 3 lines from your .htaccess file (all that should remain after are the Rewrite engine on and the sitemap line).

With these changes I'm not sure if you noticed but your site is now lightning fast compared to before!
As far as the sitemap goes the main file to access the sitemaps should be in the root (the actual data is located where you mentioned, but this is not where you should point google or bing etc.).
I would remove the web address you put into this:

Reports ListThe 'Show Reports List' link will display a report of each time your vBSEO Sitemap generator executed, including the (1) date, (2) run time, (3) total URLs included, and (4) and change in # of URLs included from the last generation.
Each vBSEO Sitemap generation record will include a (1) "View details" and (2) "Remove record" link. The "View Details" link shows more detailed information about the sitemap generated. The "Remove record" will permanently delete the record from your reports.Downloads LogThe 'Show Sitemap Downloads Log' link will display a report of each time your vBSEO Sitemap was downloaded by either a search engine (Identified by the Bot's name) or by another user agent (i.e. Web browser, etc.).
The report includes the (1) date, (2) name of sitemap file downloaded, (3) Bot, (4) IP address of the downloader, and the (5) User-agent.
Each vBSEO Sitemap download record will include a "Remove record" link which will permanently delete the record from your reports.Search Engine Bots Activity LogUse it to track Search engine activity on your sitemaps. This area displays how often, and what volume of pages search engines visit your site on a daily basis.Custom Pages / Extra URLsThe ability to add additional urls to the sitemap that are not native to vBulletin. For example any custom pages you have created or custom mods you have added.Automatic Notification to Search EnginesAuto-notifies Search Engines when a new sitemap is generated (optional). Currently works for notifying both Google and Bing.
There are probably others points also but these 5 items stand out as either not offered at all with the built in vB xml sitemap system or not nearly as robust and in-depth.

Thank you for the information. :)
I decided to disable the default one and use this.
Please tell me; do I need to manually add the sitemap to my webmasters account as well? If so, which file do I submit?
I was previously using the four sitemaps generated by vBulletin.

You don't have to submit it, but I recommend you do. If submitted the search engines will show you how many submitted links are indexed versus the total links submitted.
You only need to submit the index sitemap the search engines will be able to crawl the rest from there. Your submitted sitemap link should look something like: http://www.yoursitename.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz
You should also place it in robots.txt so other crawlers and smaller search engines can also find it. I place it in the top line, but you can place anywhere. The line in robots.txt should look like:
Sitemap: http://www.yoursitename.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz

Don't confuse this product with vBSEO. This is vBSEO Sitemap (a separate and free mod) it has officially been unsupported for a long time.
About the only place you are going to get support on it now is right here from fellow vB users. If you have a question or issue just ask. There are more people familiar with the product here than almost anywhere else.

I've only just noticed that this mod doesn't work for me. According to the logs, there is no bot activity on my site (even know I see them on "Who's Online"); how do I fix this?
Are you supposed to manually submit vbseo_sitemap/data/sitemap_forum_1.xml.gz etc to Webmasters?
Also, which ones should you submit?

Yes, you need to submit the index file ONLY to search engines (namely Google & Bing). Submitting the other files won't hurt but there will also be no benefit. The other files are linked through the index file and will be automatically scanned as long as the index file is submitted to the search engines.
Submittion url should look like:
http://www.yoursitename.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz
Once submitted the first time, search engines will know where it is and continually look for it and search for changes/updates. You can also set up VBSEO Sitemap to automatically notify search engines each time it is updated (it is a setting). This may get your site updates indexed a few hours quicker depending on how often your site is already being scanned by the search engines. The auto-notify currently only works for Google & Bing. They are the two largest search engines anyway and where probably 90+% of your search engine traffic is coming from, so it is a handy feature.

sitemap_index.xml.gz is located in /vbseo_sitemap/data/..., but when I link to it the search engines can't find the additional xml's because they're reportedly supposed to be in the root folder.
How do I fix this aside from manually adding each one? Thanks for your help by the way. :)

You are correct the actual file locations for all sitemaps are in /vbseo_sitemap/data/ but that is not where you link to them. You link to the index file in the forum root.
http://www.yoursitename.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz
The index sitemap file does not reside there but it and all other sitemap files are accessed there. For this to work correctly, this line should be in your forum root .htaccess .
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap_).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]

There is something strange in here showed up after my web hosting "Bluehost" had been down for almost 1 day. I get this error:
The component "Zend Optimizer" is not installed on the Web Server and therefore cannot service encoded files. Please download and install the Zend Optimizer (available without charge) on the Web Server.
as if my web hosting doesn't support Zend optimizer, but I could see the feature is ON.
I use PHP 5.4 (FastCGI) and I'm wondering if everyone is the same or different on this!!
any idea ??
Update: I had to copy some zend opimizer url path from php5.2 fast-cgi to php5.4 fast-cgi and it works perfect!!

I have the issue with the malformed cms pages in the cms sitemap file. The trailing slash after the root url is missing.
I have just downloaded the install and this is installed today. But the problem seems to be back from a previous version.
Does anyone have the two files bolded below from the fixed version they could give me?
Hello,
The issue has been corrected. Please download the package again and follow the upgrade instructions supplied within the readme.html file, which is located inside the docs (do not upload) folder.
The only files that have been updated are: vbseo_sitemap_functions.php and md5_sums_crawlability_sitemap.php (this one because of the checksum).
We can't just add them as separate files, because new people downloading the package may get confused about what to download and how to install what they've downloaded.

The rules setup for VBSEO folders will deny direct access to the files (intentionally for security reasons).
I would assume your issues are with your .htaccess file(s) not being setup correctly.
Try this link: http://www.vbseo.com/f67/vbseo-htaccess-file-47787/
or Google VBSEO .htaccess rules.

Plus if you have a reference to your sitemap in robots.txt, you may want to check that is for the proper filename as this mod has a unique one for sitemap index, even if you dont use vbseo like me.
(and note, this mod works best if you let the sitemap reside in its natural directory. And also note, go ahead and disable the post setting in this mod as all it does is create 404 errors for google)

It you have it setup to run automatically both Google and Bing will be notified that there is a new sitemap. You will see all their activity in the "Sitemap Downloads Log". This is an easy way to confirm they are receiving the update notifications. After a short time even if you don't send update notifications they will still check for changes in your sitemap automatically. You will typically see download activity from both Google (Googlebot) and Bing (msnbot) once a day.
If you run the sitemap creation manually, there will be no notifications sent to Google or Bing and this is when you'll need to make sure to submit/resubmit your sitemaps.

It's always good practise to reference your sitemap in robots.txt.
I personally do it on the first line. In my case the first line looks like this:
Sitemap: http://www.mysite.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz
Two weeks ago, I've uninstalled VBSEO. After this, I started using vBulletin's own SEO system.
Now, everytime I check Google Webmaster Tools, it says "this file does not contain any urls."
Do you get the same error and if it is so, how did you solve it?

I for what ever reason decided to go to my manage domains page and just decided to click away to see how google was doing with crawling my site and such..
Well I noticed that for some reason google was saying that there is an error and was not able to crawl my site and forums as well as not being able to access the sitemap...
I believe its something to do with google themselves, I wouldn't worry to much about it, wait a few days maybe a couple of weeks and then see if they are still having problems with the sitemaps....
Please not, that was the issue with me it could of course be something completely different with you.

i have done this but still same problem in google webmaster
There are some characters that Google does not like to see in sitemaps and will error out when trying to read them. vBSEO Sitemap should encode all urls correctly so this isn't an issue but I've have run across at least a couple characters that aren't coded correctly. Offhand I can't remember exactly the ones I've personally run into but I believe the ampersand was one of them ("&" should be changed to "&" in any url reference). I remember the ampersand was definitely an issue for me if it wasn't coded as "&" I ran across this error a couple times when I was adding urls to the "extra-urls.txt" file.
Whenever Google would give me a sitemap error, my solution was to check my latest sitemap manually and see if there was an odd character in any thread/post title url. Usually I would find one, then I would just go to the forum edit the thread title, recreate the sitemap and all was good.

Also, do not use all the settings in vbseo sitemap.
Indexing the "post" settings as on, may produce considerable 404 errors in webmaster tools. That settings will list incorrect url's in sitemaps. (I am using pretty urls)

Under AdminCP - Scheduled Tasks - Scheduled Task Manager:
Look for "vBSEO Search Engine XML Sitemap". When you find it (it will probably be near the bottom of the list) go to the far right and you will see "Edit" already selected in the option box, click the "Go" button underneath it. From there you can change the time.

Yes, vbSEO is dead (and has been as far as support for over two years now). DBTECH is working on an SEO product called DBSEO which is in its beta stages and will expand upon what vbSEO offered. DBSEO will also import your vbSEO settings with the click of a button. Then a quick change in your .htaccess (basically changing vbseo to dbseo in two spots) and those who were running vbSEO will have DBSEO up and running.
Like I said it's still beta but coming along quickly. It will be nice to actually have a supported SEO product for vb once again.

There would be light (free) version soon. Also, you can go with full (pro) version, with 3 month of upgrades (I think it's $70).
Also, compare it with vBSEO who had price tag of $$ and so much per year. After three years DBSEO is better deal.
On the other hand, we all have our own math what is bargain and what isn't.

Hello! Great mod!
I just noticed that the Custom Priority doesn't work. I mean, it doesn't read the *per-forum* priorities set in the vBulletin XML Sitemap Manage Content Priority section.
I set certain forums to have 0.4 priority while others to have 0.9 priority. But when I check the generated sitemap, they all have the same value (the minimum value range set in vBseo search engine sitemap mod overwrites those custom values set in vBulletin Content Priority).

Looks like your php or mysql processes are probably set to timeout at 120 seconds. You're sitemap processing probably just became long enough to go over this limit and cause the errors. Try adjusting timeout limits in php.ini.

thanks for your answer! I set the timeout limit to the highest possible value my hoster permitted, but I still get the database error.
EDIT: I uninstalled vBSEO due to several problems. Thanks for your help.

i have this problem since years.
my sitemap has #370 Files
1. this url NEVER worked.
Sitemap Index: /sitemap_index.xml
only this worked sitemap_index.xml.gz
BUT only when sitemap is finished. when cronjob make a new sitemap. all files get deleted. and
google webmaster tools display a error ....
how can i finally fix it? its very important.
i would also pay someone who can fix it.

Thanks, this was driving me nuts!

You will not pay anyone :) I'll make a vBSEO rewind for your for FREE :D
The correct sitemap URL is the second not the first, Always use sitemap_index.xml.gz as your sitemap URL.
This URL contains all of your generated sitemap.

With DBSEO you just submit the .php sitemap link to webmaster tools. It just like submitting an .xml only better since you submit just one .php link and it finds all the individual .xmls from it.

I am aware that this mod is no longer supported by the developers. hoping someone might have seen this and know a solution. i have a problem that randomly started happening with vbseo sitemap generator -- nothing changed on my site which is running vb 3.8.7 pl5
Sometimes the sitemap doesn't completely generate when the script runs for that at 2am or whatever. When it fails, I get zero error notifications. when going to mysite.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz it says "sitemap file not found". The vbseo_sitemap folder contains the sitemap_forum_1.xml.gz file. Normally it should contain sitemap_forum_2.xml.gz and sitemap_forum_3.xml.gz as well. plus sitemap_index.xml.gz should be there.
A file is in that directory called progress.dat. It's as if the script starts running but can't finish. But no errors whatsoever. I checked the webserver error logs, and PHP error logs, and no problems
For years, every day my vbseo sitemap generates perfectly at 2AM on the dot. Now it fails almost every other day. The only solution to the problem is to manually re-run the sitemap generator . This always fixes the problem, and NEVER fails when I run it manually. So i'm wondering why the manual option always works yet the automated one fails basically every other day. Wouldn't it be basically the same code that executes?
thanks for any suggestions, greatly appreciate the help

This still works fine. If you get time outs when generating just make smaller sitemaps. You will generate more xml files but each one will be smaller.

I know that is no longer supported the vBSEO, but many still use it and would like to exchange some experiences.
Recently I again installed vBSEO along with sending sitemap on my site and I've had very good results on Google, but Google Webmaster is not indexing my pages many as you can see in the images below:

Recently I know that Google changed its SEO mechanism, I think it reflected a lot on vBSEO. It remains we wait the comments from people who understand one few more SEO than us to be able to help us.

A few things... You probably have duplicate content if VBSEO isn't configured right. I have close to 100k pages indexed and the number is going up.
It takes a lot of time for search engines to index unless you are getting lots of traffic. I get lots of traffic.
Your pages will be penalized if they do not have a mobile version per Google's highly publicized recent update. You can purchase a responsive skin but no mods will work with a responsive skin.
Set your archive options to 301 Redirect vB's Archive Thread Pages. If you don't you will have duplicate content and will have pages dropped from indexing.
Turn on Cleanup HTML Code.
Make sure Replace the 'META DESCRIPTION' Content is set to yes
Add rel="nofollow" to ALL External URLs set to yes
Enable Canonical URLs must be set to yes
Inside your sitemap settings set Include Forum Display Pages to no
Inside your sitemap settings set Include Show Post Pages to no
test your site score in google pagespeed. A low score means low priority being indexed and Google shows you in search results less even if you are indexed. https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

I previously was using bad DBSEO did not like, was not quite indexing my pages, some bugs and every week had a version to download.
The DBSEO support is only made out of vBulletin and also did not like it, I preferred to leave and return to the same vBSEO unsupported seems much higher.

You need to add individual entries to your robots.txt for search engines like ASK.COM and others that don't have webmaster tools you can directly submit sitemaps in. That will help a lot. Believe it or not search engines actually crawl each other so getting listed in one helps you rank in another.
The syntax is like this:
sitemap: yoursite.com/sitemap.xml
I previously was using bad DBSEO did not like, was not quite indexing my pages, some bugs and every week had a version to download.
The DBSEO support is only made out of vBulletin and also did not like it, I preferred to leave and return to the same vBSEO unsupported seems much higher.
The anti-vbseo armies will be here soon. I wish you hadn't done that.
I for what ever reason decided to go to my manage domains page and just decided to click away to see how google was doing with crawling my site and such..
Well I noticed that for some reason google was saying that there is an error and was not able to crawl my site and forums as well as not being able to access the sitemap...
This is not going to fix itself. VBSEO will not help you. You need to figure out what is keeping the search engines from crawling... Start with making sure your site isn't being gzipped (compressed) more than once.
Yes, Maybe someone with more knowledge can explain little better.
But still i am debating if i should stay with this mod or move to DragonByte SEO Lite if it will be more better.
I use VBSEO for three reasons only:
The sitemap integrates nicely with vbet translator.
The canonical url is displayed in the sitemap. The vbulletin url display isn't canonical and it can keep you from being indexed as the urls it submits have priority and can conflict with the canonical url if you have custom urls written.
It supports memcached caching. I distribute my caching across multiple servers for efficiency.

Click on the error link and tell us what it says? If it is a time out error or something like that you can change the settings to reduce the size of each file. You will just end up with more files.

1. Uninstall the vBSEO Sitemap generator. It is old, outdated, and a potential security risk. Mine stopped working on three forums after recent vBulletin 4 updates.
2. Enable the built-in vBulletin sitemap generator as follows:
AdminCP >> Settings >> Options
scroll down to XML Sitemap
Enable Automatic Sitemap Generation = Yes
Set the remaining settings according to your preferences
For me, I set Sitemap File Path = . (just a period; you may need to experiemtn a bit with this depending on your server)

Not sure what you want to do, but this command blocks access to everyone. So, bots also can't access whatever place you blocked from outside.
