I would really like to see a matchfinder as it would make ladder work much better..

Problem is that good player dont get any matches as most is to chiken to accept. Matchfinder would take care of this as people cant see who posted the match.

I would pay for something like this for vb. I own mw2tournaments.com and I would like to use the scripts that I run on sorrynoobs.com to run this tourney site. VB and its cms is so much better and it's just this tourney mod that is holding me back from doing so. Double elimination is the main thing, this needs to be updated to allow for more players. All other features that are in the cup addon would be leet as well.
I think you should consider doing something of this nature, as you would be the only one to complete such thing. I think that there may be others who are willing to pay for it.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to advance someone in the tournament. I hover over there name and nothing happens, other than there avatar picture gets a bit larger. Other than that everything seems to be running just fine.

this mod is looking better and better since the last time i remember looking at it. i see that there's been talks of things to expect in the next version, but is there a full list somewhere with all the things planned?

seems like this has a lot of potential but a few key things still seem to be missing...are there any plans for the following to be added?:

detailed match reports, including maps played, result screenshots, match comments, for example something like this: http://roladder.net/index.php?sub=ladders&site=matchdetail&game_id=3850
more detailed team profiles/statistics including complete match history (click on a team profile in the link i sent for examples)
full match records database
rung ladders
ability to run individual ladders each using a different for of ranking

Maybe for a future update to the ladders you could allow for a ladder to be closed so that new teams cannot join, but the teams already in the ladder can still play. Would be helpful for leagues and playoffs.

It would be nice with a check-in feature so players have to check-in same day and latest 1/2 hour(or whatever time you choose) before tournament start. And brackets will be made when that time frame is reached.

Guys, is there a way to create a tournament to coincide with a sports event and have users pick winners of the brackets for points. Kind of like a March Madness bracket?

1. You can only link result of tournament to ladder. Users cannot currently report their own results for tournaments, only tournament moderators can.

2. I've adjusted permissions so that only tournament moderators can add players to tournaments. Uploaded attached tournaments.php to forum directory (allow overwrite).

3. Tournament moderators progress users onto next round using the arrows. See attached screenshot

I have some questions and requests :) I would be glad to donate for your work!

- It is possible to create tournaments, where the first stage is a based group? Then for example the first 2 of each group pass to the final bracket.

- Also for the tournaments, it is possible to give some seeds? For example there are 16 teams signed up and now I would like to choose who are the best teams, then the rest of the teams will get random positions (in brackets or groups)

- A hook system inside the tournaments system would be very useful! I have made some changes, and now I have to revert many things. Also I could help you to develop the product in any case.

I have added:

- Maximum time for accepting a challenge and for submitting results. Email notifications near the deadlines. The main idea is to keep the ladder players playing. Penalties.
- Widget for Recent matches and upcoming matches.

Question:
-How could I add the tournaments matches to a recent matches widget? Is there any lan to implement a tournaments matches table in the database?

Love this mod mate, cheers. I have a couple of questions.

When using the match finder now after some probs with time zones which is now fixed we can not seem to set up a match.

I deleted a tournament but it still shows in the hall of fame the scores from that tourney. ie the player who won still shows the win and all the players have +1 in tourney's entered. How would i go about deleting those entries, which tables would i need to edit to remove those?

Other features i would like to see:

It would be nice if it would be possible to protect tournaments and ladder with a password, so we could open up the the system so users could make there own tournaments and password protect them so only admins and them self can acces.

a password to Change the setup of the tournament and a password to enter. The pass to enter would also do good with other purposes.

Group play or league would be awesome :-)

I assume this is a LMS tournament? If they all have the same score, then they will be all ranked #1.

Comment permissions are a separate usergroup permission: "Can Comment on Tournaments".

Elo Rating will be changing for v4.2.8


It's now much simpler, just using the formula:

Rating Change = K-factor * ( Result – Expected Result )

Result being substitute by 1 for win, 0.5 for draw or 0 for loss.

Expected Result Table - based on current ranks of players/teams

1. You can only link result of tournament to ladder. Users cannot currently report their own results for tournaments, only tournament moderators can.

2. I've adjusted permissions so that only tournament moderators can add players to tournaments. Uploaded attached tournaments.php to forum directory (allow overwrite).

i have just installed this mod and i would like to say job well done, from playing with it for like 45 minutes i am really in love with it.

i do have a suggestion for the submission of win/draw/loss. if there is a way that when a player submits a result for the match that it messages the person they played for that match for a confirmation of results that would eliminate the need for moderator approval on match wins.

i would like to know if its possible to change "Ladder" to League. I would also like to know if there is a way to limit the number of games a player can play for rating each week and add bonus points to matches. right now my league is going to be 5 points for a win, 3 for a draw and 1 for a loss and i want to give the players bonus points for playing on certain days of the week and playing extra games during each scoring week.

also wanted to know if it was possible the mod was able to have a grid layout so that it looks like the rest of the webpage.

For the ESL (Starcraft 2) they allow either the winner or the loser to report the result. If the report is wrong the winner sends through the replay to fix the issue.

I guess if the loser doesn't report the loss, the winner has to get in contact with the moderator of the tournament and send through the reply anyway same as if a false win was reported.

I just believe people are more likely to make the effort to report a win then to report a loss.

Maybe make it an option where you can either report a loss or win?

Elo rating in v4.3.2+ will no longer display calculator,etc. if disabled in t+l options.

You could change the phrase from ladder to league in admincp -> phrase manager

There is currently no way to have different points depending on the day, etc.

2.Then on top navbar, click 'Ladders' then click 'Edit Competitor Data'. Select Ladder, click submit, select player/team, then click submit, and then edit data.

I have a site that is used by a group of folks that play golf online.

I've installed Tournaments & Ladders and it looks to have installed fine. But given that I am not familiar with online gaming sites that use things like this I am a bit lost applying it to my site.

First - we have two basic types of tournaments. Match Play and Stroke Play. Match Play tournaments are similar to Ryder Cup, or for that matter tennis bracket tournaments if you are familiar with them. Stroke Play are similar to the PGA's weekly tournaments. Players play 4 rounds. Combine the scores. Lowest score wins the tournament.

Looking at it quickly it seems "Tournaments" lends itself to the match play concept. Can ladders be used for the weekly stroke play?

Also, I figured out how to set up matches. For example if I have 8 players competing I can easily set up the first 4 matches. But how do I set up the next bracket (i.e. the 4 winners playing 2 rounds, and they the two remaining going against one another. In other words how do I set up the complete bracket?

Also, how can I use categories?

That sounds like a single elimination tournament. The winner from each pair progressing to the next round, until there is a winner.

How ever you want, create categories for different types of golf, different standards (ie. pro or beginner) or different locations (eg. UK/ USA golf tournaments)

Categories are there just to help you organise your tournaments and ladders better.

Yes corect..

If its a brand new tournament, plaryes will be added random since there is no record.

And if its for soccer you could have 3 division/pools, and based on 30 players, all pools would then consist of 10 players/teams. The pools are normaly filled up with the highest ranked, if such are not enough teams to fill 1.div. up, the underlying rows not being created.

The group will play 1-2 times against any team. Each round is divided into ex. 3 days: Monday-Wednesday and Thursday-Saturday(so you are able to play more than one game a week).

This tricky part is to make a system that will ensure that players/teams will play there matches.

I know this model is beeing used but dont know if its the best way to go about.

Could you make a online calender/sytem which would ask what time players/teams can play certen round matches. Then there information on possible dates for the next round must be submitted the day before the round begins.

Lets say players/teams have to choose 3 spots/days on the calender, then make the system automatically choose a time both parties can play.

And if one of the teams dosn?t enter any dates he will lose the match.

Dont know if it makes any sence at all..

I recently had an issue with a version which is now fixed. I went back to a earlier version of the ladder. v4.2.4 just to have it running while a fix was made.

Join User Tables to User Profile Tables
Enables display of user profile fields in tournament brackets and ladders. Not necessary unless you want to user {vb:raw userinfo.field1} in template tmnt_bracket. Note: will slightly increase server load on some pages.

Join User Tables to User Profile Tables
Enables display of user profile fields in tournament brackets and ladders. Not necessary unless you want to user {vb:raw userinfo.field1} in template tmnt_bracket. Note: will slightly increase server load on some pages.


If i click this i get database ewrrors

This is great news. Just what I have been looking for. Hope it comes off.

I recently had an issue with a version which is now fixed. I went back to a earlier version of the ladder. v4.2.4 just to have it running while a fix was made.

is it possible for me to just upgrade to the current version? or do i need to remove the v4.2.4 then do a fresh install?

An upgrade should be fine. If you completely uninstall it, then you will lose and ladders, tournaments, teams and all data.

1. re. Ladders, I see where I input start and end date/times in description. But I don't see where they are displayed for users.
2. again re. Ladders, My tournament descriptions are appearing in the competition forum I specified in settings->options. But I don't see my Ladder descriptions. Should they be appearing too?

Its ok now but if i click to "Join User Tables to User Profile Tables" it just takes me to a database error

I do not have this option clicked atm due to the error and it works fine, But as stated if i click to have the option

The page is XHTML valid, so it should display fine on all modern browsers. I'm afraid I'm not really sure whether it is windows 7 or some other factor causing the problem.

Yes, that is currently for tournaments only. As of v4.3.4+ it will create a new thread for ladders as well.

Also re. teams - I have one person creating two man teams. Once he adds the two participants he makes them both leaders, and removes himself. But the challenge notifications are still going to the creator (ie. founder). Even though he has left the team.

Am I wrong? Or can that be changed?

There's no option at the moment, but it's something i might add an option for in the future.

Seasons use their ladder title so if you wanted spring, summer, etc. create ladders called

Blue Ladder Spring 2011,
Blue Ladder Fall 2011,
Blue Ladder Summer 2011, etc.

Make sure that there will be a option to make teams re-register(not start all over but kind of check-in) for every season, as people tent to drop out. This will secure that all teams are ready for the next season, and you won?t have a 2. devision with 2 teams and 12 in 3. devision.

One of our users created a team name that contained an apostrophe and a question mark which caused a server error when he tried to have that team join a tournament. We renamed the team and he joined successfully.
Problem is he tried 5 times unsuccessfully and the number of available team spots was reduced by 5. I can't find a way to put the 5 team spots back.

I'm planning on making a "Gaming for Charity" site, in which each tournament will have a low entry fee, and then the winner of said tournament will get a cut of the entry money, as well as a charity of their choice, and then of course, the remaining money goes to the house.

The error message for reaching usergroup limit of number of teams a user can create has been altered for next version, with a link to view all the teams the user has created.

Pay-for-play is currently unavailable and is not due to be included in the next release but may be available in the future.

1. How did you want it altered?

2. If a player's has 3 wins, 1 draw, 0 loses, then they should have elo rating higher than the starting elo rating. Although it depends on the elo rating's of the other people you play, e.g. only drawing against the worst player in the ladder, will decrease your elo rating (but not by as much as if they beat you).

3. Make sure you set the match date in the future. Matches will only show in the match finder in they are in the future.

You'll have to edit the tournament via PHPMYADMIN or create new tournament and then add the teams to it.

User/team names are omitted so that players cannot cherry pick easy players to improve their number of wins.

To show player names you'll have to edit template 'tmnt_ladder_display', and player name some in this bit of html code:
